The Best Late-Night Restaurants in Minneapolis and St. Paul | Eater Twin Cities

"Over the past two decades, restaurateurs Armando Ocampo and Lilia Zagal have built a veritable empire of Los Ocampo restaurants, a mix of full-service restaurants and ultra-quick “express” locations. The specialty is handmade, light-fried masa cakes, which come smothered with refried beans (huaraches), stuffed with cheese and pork (tlacoyos), or crowned with carnitas (sopes). Start with elote and end with a creamy slice of flan. This spot is open ‘til midnight on weekdays; 4 a.m. on Friday and Saturday nights. Online ordering is available." - Eli Radtke

What to Order for takeout from Midtown Global Market | Eater Twin Cities

"Los Ocampos boasts several locations around the Twin Cities, including two full-service restaurants. At the taqueria space in Midtown Global Market, pick up their beloved street tacos, or more unique offerings like the Sopa de Mariscos, a seafood soup filled with tiny octopus, catfish, shrimp and more." - Alex Lodner

OMG get the sope. Or the huarache. I’ve loved everything I’ve tried here. Great meats. The food can be a little heavy

Absolutely delicious! AUTHENTIC!!! The tacos were bursting with flavor and perfectly cooked. The mango agua fresca was so refreshing - the perfect balance of sweet and fruity. I’ll definitely be coming back. Highly recommend!

Food is nice, good Hours of operation are great Line can take a while. Recieving my food took 20 mins and up on the weekend. Food taste is a 4 out 5. Menu is very extensive. Birria was good, tlaycayo is good. Nacho were just okay/ didn't have cheese. Location is in a busy spot, on LK street. Parking lot is limited, but they do have spots.

I think the staff should be very attentive to the customers' specifications. I went to order a burrito 🌯 I was very specific that I should not put lettuce or cream inside the burrito. In the end, they gave it to me how they wanted it. When someone asks them not to add certain ingredients, it is because we have a medical recommendation to avoid some ingredients to lead a healthy and pleasant life. My recommendation is that they be more empathetic with their customers and improve their service.

Disorganized, overpriced, and poor cleanliness. We went to Taqueria Los Ocampo in Minneapolis, and the experience was honestly disappointing from start to finish. After placing our order, we waited a full hour to get our food. During that time, many other people were clearly upset complaining and just showing frustration. One specific couple was clearly upset letting them know it was ridiculous waiting an hour for an order of three tacos. The place wasn’t busy—no crowd, barely any takeout pickups—yet the staff barely called out any order numbers, and it felt like nothing was moving. I ordered the quesabirria combo with consomé, and it was not worth the wait or the price. The flavor was okay at best. The consomé tasted like pure vegetable oil with some onions, cilantro, and a splash of hot sauce—no depth, just oily. The prices were extremely high for the portion sizes and quality. The chicken was also ok, but nothing that justifies the cost or the hour-long wait. On top of that, the place was dirty. We had to clean our own table because no one was walking around to wipe anything down. It looked like they expect customers to pick up their own food and clean up after themselves—and if you don’t, it just sits there for the next person. Even the restroom was an issue. It was locked with a code, which is fine, but once we got in, it was filthy—trash on the floor, water everywhere, and it looked like no one had cleaned it in a long time. Overall, this was a frustrating and disappointing experience: long wait times, small portions, overpriced food, and a dirty environment. Definitely not planning on coming back.

First and last time at this Los Ocampo. I placed a phone order at 10:45 PM, got there at 11:10, and still waited nearly an hour while being told “5 more minutes” over and over. I finally asked to cancel at 11:45, and even that took 10 more minutes. The manager clearly had no control or clue. I left at midnight with no food no apology and no explanation nothing but frustration. Judging by the other reviews this isn’t new just a pattern of terrible service. DO BETTER.

Went after a concert, such a great late night eat. Busy, but there were lots of seating options and areas for standing. The vegetarian options were amazing - way more than just cheese. Delicious mango agua fresca as well.

Idk if it's because I'm from Chicago but the food is bland. The tortillas seem not to be heated up.. No seasoning... The cashiers have an attitude.. I gave them my order and they got an attitude and said oh so American tacos😑.. Uh I'm Mexican and I told u my toppings.. Idk what y'all put it in your system in as. Customer service was just eh. But the inside of the restaurant was nice.
