"Nestled within a Homestead gas station, this unassuming Mexican restaurant boasts tacos worth the journey, adorned with toppings such as avocado and pineapple." - Olee Fowler

"There are two Taqueria Morelias—one in Homestead and another in Florida City, which is just five minutes away and the better choice for tacos. This one is next to a gas station, and the best taco here is the asada. It’s rich, savory, and meaty. The al pastor is great too, but the tripe taco is too tough (for a better tripe taco, head to La Pasadita). There’s also a little condiment bar where you can add your own salsa, onions, and accouterment. But be very careful with those salsas—they burn so hot you could probably use them to get to the moon. "Drive Time: 45 minutes There are two locations of this excellent Mexican spot: Homestead and Florida City. While the Homestead location is larger (in case your day trip involves a big crew), the Florida City location is conveniently right down the street from Robert Is Here. Tacos are the main attraction here, but the alambres are why we’d gladly drain our gas tanks to eat here. The combination of carne asada, chorizo, bacon, onions, and peppers under a blanket of melted cheese can make you forget all about fuel prices. Scooped onto one of Morelia’s excellent corn or flour tortillas, it’s everything we love about fajitas, nachos, fondue, and loaded fries all rolled into one." - ryan pfeffer, carlos c olaechea

Authentic delicious Mexican food posted up right next to the gas station. Loved the hot and flavorful beef soup, the meat is so tender and flavor of the broth warms the soul. Carnitas burrito was also loaded full of delicious meat. Service was a little slow but food was cooked fresh. Id definitely recommend if you're in the mood for a cozy taqueria.

Google
BEST TACOS AND BURRITOS!!! The service is great. Homemade sauces, truly authentic. Ask for the pineapples in the burritos and tacos. Great touch!

We stopped at this restraunt right next to the gas station around 9pm. There was no wait time and we were a larger party of 5. They pushed some tables together and got us sat right away. The food was amazing!! We shared a couple of combination platters with 2 enchiladas, 2 tacos, and 2 tostadas. This platter also came with rice and beans. Perfect for sharing and gave us the ability to try multiple things. Very friendly people!! Couldn't have asked for better food!! Super fresh! The salsa bar was a fantastic addition to the meal. Our server was wonderful, and the lady seating and checking in with us was the sweetest!! If I lived in Homestead, I would be a regular at this place! So good!!

Unique location with good food and service. Best Birria tacos I ever have.

Google
What can I say. but I found this place last year when I participated in the Migrant toy run and I just fell in love with the food and the staff they are very friendly and attentive when I tell you attentive they would pass by the table and made sure you was satisfied or if you need anything else I strongly recommend if you want good food this is the place to come looking forward to go back

Google
The food was wonderful and presented really well. The restaurant was very busy and we were able to grab the last table. Highly recommend.

Google
Terrible terrible for ordering food. Called me 4-6 times to confirm order THEN made me reorder everything over the phone AND STILL got the orders wrong. Their “online payment” says we have to pay in person and said they couldn’t start the order until we pay over the phone. Ordered two sides of beans that never came, the enchiladas orders were the wrong ones and when called to correct it they want to start arguing with me about what I ordered

Google
Super good. Amazing portion sizes. Great seasonings and access to toppings. Everything tastes amazing and you’re guaranteed to get food at a pretty decent price. Burrito was large and filling. Super delicious 10/10

Yelp
Everything tastes amazing and you're guaranteed to get food at a pretty decent price. Burrito was large and filling. Super delicious. The staff were friendly with amazing service. Would definitely come back again.

Yelp
Since we had been down in the area, my wife had been craving some real good tacos. Knowing that homestead has some real good hole in the wall taquerias, I quickly did a search and stumbled upon this place. Located right next to a gas station, one may think this place won't be a good spot, but never doubt. This place was amazing, small, but it did not deter from the food at all. They offer complementary chips and salsa which I happily munched on while we awaited our orders. My wife and I both had the QuesaBirria Tacos and we both loved them. I didn't dip my tacos in the sauce (which I know you're supposed to do) but I didn't want my stomach to be in trouble later. My wife definitely dipped hers though! She claims it is what makes the taco. Whenever we're down in the area again, we'll definitely have to return!

Yelp
While attending an event in Homestead, I decided to seek out an authentic Mexican restaurant, well aware of the area's reputation for such cuisine. After consulting one of my favorite blogs, Taqueria Morelia was the recommendation I couldn't resist, and it truly lived up to the hype. The restaurant's location, attached to a gas station, was initially a bit confusing. However, it turned out that parking was conveniently situated behind the restaurant near the pumps. Once inside, the cozy interior transported me to Mexico. The ambiance, filled with the sounds, aromas, and flavors of Mexico, felt incredibly authentic. The food, which clearly exuded a labor of love, was nothing short of amazing. Each dish boasted bold, comforting flavors that I'd been craving. As we settled in, we were greeted with freshly made chips and salsa, a testament to the restaurant's commitment to quality. Taqueria Morelia offers a self-serve toppings bar, featuring an array of salsas ranging from mild to super spicy, along with limes, radishes, cucumbers, onions, jalapenos, cilantro, and more. Our order included Birria tacos, an Alambre, and a side of rice and beans for sharing. The Birria tacos, in particular, stood out, oozing authenticity and flavor, accompanied by a rich consommé. The Alambre was equally delightful, complemented by homemade tortillas. One aspect I found less pleasing was the absence of included sides with the main dishes, which necessitated separate orders. However, the sides, including rice and beans, were delicious in their own right. In terms of service, our initial server left something to be desired, coming across as a bit rude in responding to our inquiries, which left me feeling rushed when ordering. However, the service provided by Nelly, who checked on us multiple times, more than made up for it. She was a sweet, elderly lady whose warmth and attentiveness made the dining experience feel reminiscent of a meal at a grandmother's house. All in all, Taqueria Morelia left me with a memorable culinary experience. The food was exceptional, and if I ever find myself in Homestead again, I won't hesitate to head straight to this hidden gem.

Yelp
Great, authentic Mexican food! Decent prices for massive portions. Definitely a hole in the wall located next to a gas station, but so worth the stop.

Erin O.

Yelp
Literally best tacos I've had in South Florida ever. This place is so unassuming (attached to a gas station), but the tacos were out of this world good and the service was honestly impeccable. No complaints. The al pastor tacos were probably my favorite and honestly one of the most flavorful al pastor tacos I've ever had. I never want to go to a fancy taco restaurant ever again.

Mario B.

Yelp
Great service and quick food! Burrito and quesadillas hit the spot. Would come back when in the area. Was a good find.

Karen N.

Yelp
I have had a craving for Birria Tacos ever since I had them at a Yelp event. We came down here to stop at the farmer's market and I told Max that if we were stopping for lunch, it had to be at a taco joint in the area. He picked this place. It's connected to a gas station and I have always heard don't look a gift horse in the mouth when it comes to restaurants attached to gas stations. I open the menu and knew the Birria taco was going to be my choice. Both of us got them. Why, oh why, are you so far away from my house. These were the best I have ever had. The chef approached our table mid bite and all I could do was give her two thumbs up and proceeded to clap my hands.

Roger D.

Yelp
The food the vibe the prices and the service - including her suggestions over my choices - incredibly outstanding and authentic and I cannot wait to return and also try their sister restaurant in Homestead !!

Blessie V.

Yelp
This is fun- quality gas station dining? You heard that right. I had a major craving for Mexican or other Latin food post-snorkeling trip at nearby Biscayne when this spot popped up on my radar. I was the only English-speaking person dining in, so I figured this spot was legit. I got: *tostadas de ceviche de pescado ($6.95): a crispy tortilla topped with marinated raw fish. This was refreshing and absolutely delicioso. *al pastor ($2.99), lengua ($4.45), and tripas ($4.45) tacos: well-seasoned, well-cooked, and filling. I would KILL to have this again. *agua de horchata ($2.95): definitely had less cinnamon than I would've liked, BUT it was a sweet way to cool down. It was so hard to talk myself out of getting their tres leches to finish things off, but I will add that on on my next visit!

Sherry W.

Yelp
We dine inside and they have a server. The menu has a great variety. I ordered tacos a la carte. My friend ordered a carne asada burrito. The burrito shell was grilled. It was filled with cheese, tomato and lettuce which didn't seem very authentic. My tacos: pork carnitas was my favorite. The flavor of the pork was amazing and then pan fried. The carne asada was good. The birria was too fatty and didn't have a lot of flavor. I love the salsa and toppings bar. They were all so fresh. I put cilantro and onion on my tacos. They brought us complimentary chips and you can pick salsa from the salsa bar. The chips were thick and tasted fresh. They have outdoor dining. Overall, it was good and I wouldn't hesitate to return.

Julie P.

Yelp
Amazing and kind service. As a first time visitor I felt welcomed, and the food was absolutely the best I've had. You can tell a ton of locals frequent this place for a reason, but they welcomed us like regulars. *****

Yo T.

Yelp
The place is amazing, the best taco you will ever find and even better it's attached to a gas station. The outside seating is nice, but the inside is better and the toilets still have the thing in the side. They have a fresh salsa bar. The menu is really easy to read. The tacos are phenomenal.

Oof G.

Yelp
A jewel in the middle of HOMESTEAD Florida. Excellent food, outstanding service, clean place. Indoor and outdoor service. Good drinks.

Annette P.

Yelp
I had to write a review while still in the parking lot. I love Mexican food and am always looking for a new spot for great Mexican. Found it! These are by far the best birria tacos I have had to date. The rest of our group had all different types of tacos, from brisket tacos to carne asada tacos to tongue tacos, yes, beef tongue tacos. Everything was delicious and the service was fantastic! Loved it!

Red N.

Yelp
Great food but holy smokes did I get bent over! $23 for 3 birria tacos and a cheese quesedilla? At other places, that's a $15 order at the most!!! And their portions are smallest I've seen The food itself is great - good flavor, their sides are great as well. Their hot salsa is to die for. Place has mariachi playing loud - great atmosphere. Service is ok. Will I return? Not at this price point, it's good but not $23 good. I expect way bigger portions for that amount!

Miriam M.

Yelp
Had a chicken tostada, well prepared with avocado, fresh and tasty. Homestyle mexican restaurant at good prices.

Laura B.

Yelp
It is a very clean and well maintained restaurant, good tacos and Great michelada . The service was great all the waitresses were very friendly.

Jorge V.

Yelp
I tried ordering food, 30 min pass by and they claim they never got my order even tho it was confirmed by email, they needa fix that asap

Rick B.

Yelp
Possibly the nicest Taqueria I've been in; not fancy - but super clean tables and we ordered at the table (standing to order at the counter is common in most TX Taqueria's). All of our tacos were good, except for one spicy pork version my wife tried. My Barbacoa Taco was excellent, as were her Chicken & Carnitas Tacos. Interestingly; the onions & cilantro were served separately - so we could adjust the amount in our tacos. My Carne Asada Burrito was huge, although half the filling was "salad." The extra lettuce, onions, and tomatoes were unusual - but it added depth to the burrito! Soft drinks and some ETOH are available.

Ossa B.

Yelp
Always come here when in the area. "Hole in the wall" next to a gas station legit Mexican food. Everyone is super friendly and attentive. They have lengua and sopes which is big for me.

Joel L.

Yelp
Food and service was A+. Food was very tasty. The fruit water was so good. I had to take one to go. Server Kenaya took good care of us. The bathroom were very clean and stocked.

M. A. G.

Yelp
Since I had a appointment in the area I took advantage of the 1 hr commute and decided to stop by. The tacos were the business! I ordered one of each and they were scrumptious. The complimentary homemade chips and salsa-amazing' and to wash it down got a horchata. The food 5 is stars. The only issue is the waitress staff are really rough around the edges. The ambiance is what is expected for a hole in the wall gas station taco joint, but that's the vibe. It's a must visit when your in the area.

Mig S.

Yelp
Authentic & I'd say best in homestead. Service is on point, food comes out pretty quickly. Place is clean & restrooms well maintained.

Roxanne N.

Yelp
This spot is pretty good. Their food is tasty and the horchatas are awesome. If you're looking for authentic Mexican food they really have some great stuff here and they make it fast.

Nat C.

Yelp
Best taqueria this side of the border. Meats were savory, flavorful, tender & salsas were just beautiful. I'm from Texas/Mexico border. Highly recommend. Almost didn't go because of the low star reviews but so glad I did. Best meal I have had this trip.

Michelle ..

Yelp
They really do have the best Mexican food in homestead! A friend recommended we drop in while in the area, as we pull up, I wonder why we are going to a gas station. But the small restaurant is right next door. It's exactly as pictured, no frills or thrills but authentic delicious Mexican food. We had Steak tacos, tortillas and salsa- all so savory. The salsa bar is absolute FIRE, everything is made in house. We had great service, very attentive. Food was so good we ordered some tacos to go but that took quite a while to prepare as it got busier while we were there, a lot of pick up orders too. Definitely recommend if you are in the area.

Griselle N.

Yelp
Excellent food and service! The only issue is that had my little dog with me, therefore we ate outdoors.

Ashley T.

Yelp
Tacos are a 10/10. Recommend the carne asada tacos, they're good and inexpensive. Probably my favorite taco place but if you want take out just know you're going to be waiting a while and wont be able to get the employee's attention.

Derek A.

Yelp
Awesome place.authentic Mexican. Highly recommend if your looking for amazing food in homestead area.

Daniel F.

Yelp
A taste of Mexico without waiting in king TSA lines, the best tacos in homestead hands down. This is the go to spot if you're looking for authentic Mexican tacos. Been here several times, and will continue doing so when I need my fix!

Paul C.

Yelp
The salsa bar is the bomb. There are so many kinds of salsa, cucumbers, radish and the red chili peppers aka ghost peppers with onions. Overall the food tastes pretty good but it's a bite salty for my taste. The service was great. The ambiance is about an average.

Kristi W.

Yelp
Stopped to get gas from the gas station next door when I noticed this place. My boyfriend and I like to try Al Pastor tacos from different Taco Restaurants and this on was delicious! It is one of my top Al Pastor Tacos that I have had this far. It was very flavorful, had a bit of a crunch and the tortilla shell wasn't too thick. Really enjoyed it.

Adriana M.

Yelp
Closest to real authentic Mexican I've had in a while . I'm Mexican from LA so that's saying a lot . I struggle a lot locating places that capture the essence of authentic Mexican food here in south Florida but this is definitely my favorite place to hit up anytime I'm down south . Absolutely recommend. My favorite are the nachos

vanessa i.

Yelp
The food is delicious here don't get me wrong but $30!!! For a torta and 2 tacos is crazy. Wouldn't go again too expensive.

Gilbert G.

Yelp
I lived in El Paso, Texas for 16 years on the border of Juarez, CH, Mexico, and am married to a Mexican from Sonora, MX. This is my reference. I only come here for Tacos. I drive some 35-45 minutes JUST FOR THESE TACOS. Do not confuse this place with the other one named like it in Homestead, FL. That one is good, but for some reason, this one is consistently better, plus they just recently finished renovating it during the beginning of this 2020 pandemic. The place appears to be super clean, especially even more now during the pandemic. All workers ate practicing mask/ distancing. All the meat tacos are amazing and authentic and ALL taste great! My favorite are Tripitas, Lengua, and Carne Asada. Carne asada is great for those people who are on the less adventurous side, but I highly recommend them. I always ask for the tripitas to be cooked crispy (doraditos), add some salt, lime, cilantro, onions, and your favorite salsa--- perfection! They're salsas are really good too, and I recommend giving the red one a shot, but I still bring a small bottle of the one my wife makes, because....duh, DELICIOUS! The staff is super friendly and Mexican to boot. This is my number 2 favorite taco place that I've discovered here in the Miami area (and outskirt cities). I'd also recommend checking out Las Chavelas Taqueria which is only 11 miles from this place, those are number one in my book, BUT Morelia in Florida City is a VERY CLOSE second! I still come here more often since the seating is much more comfortable.

Ed W.

Yelp
Morelia is a great example of street tacos. From handmade tortillas, and a large variety of ingredients and proteins just a you would find in Mexico. Tongue tacos are delicious, same goes for tacos al pastor. Michelada beer is also super good. Yes it is right next to the gas station but the place is very clean and nicely maintained. Service is good and friendly. Whenever I am in Homestead, I find myself craving these tacos. It is worth the drive. It is authentic. Thumbs up!

Mercy C.

Yelp
The location is packed. But that speaks to how good the food is. The food was very satisfying. The burrito was amazing. Our waitress never asked us if we were ok or needed anything. But they were extremely busy. Would come again if in the area.

Liza M.

Yelp
Service was good here. Food tasted very good. Probably not the absolute best Mexican food I have had, but pretty close. They have a bar with several different toppings and salsas which was really cool. Some of the sauces were quite hot, but very good taste. In short, this was good food with good service. I would recommend and would go there again.

Marta R.

Yelp
Called for pick up. Food was done 15 minutes later! Fresh tortillas tacos!! Yes! I was so happy with my food.

Bill W.

Yelp
What a hidden gem! Morelia is attached to a gas station, but is it's own storefront. Parking is around on the west side, and behind. You can order ahead for pickup... we usually do because we take burritos to have on picnics in the Everglades. We've ordered on arrival, and once we stayed and dined inside. That can take a while. We've had quite a few menu items here over the last year; my personal favorite is the pork (carnitas) and bean burrito. My wife loves their fresh tacos, particularly the al carbon. They have a wonderful selection of fresh salsas and hot sauce... you get these at a small salsa bar they have set up by the takeout counter. You can eat in at the counter or at a table; there is table service. We would love it if their hot melted cheese side were made with an authentic white cheese... unfortunately, it's just mozzarella-- that's the only disappointment we've encountered here. Definitely try their guacamole salsa... delicious. And, their Horchata is really wonderful!

Erika H.

Yelp
I like the food it was ok good taste, the waitress can be more nice they're all look like stressed and we go to a restaurant to have fun, NOT to look at them with the square faces

Ryan J.

Yelp
Great little spot in Florida city. We stopped here on the way to the Everglades Alligator Farm. Great tacos and great service.

Adrianne B.

Yelp
Authentic taqueria with good service and an excellent bar of taco accoutrements like salsa and fresh & marinated veggies. Price is right for lunch or dinner, especially on your way out of Everglades NP.

Maria C.

Yelp
-This spot get 5 stars for being clean. The menu does not have prices. My takeout was over 43 dollars and a huge disappointment. I had heard such great things about the authenticity and delicious tacos. So I thought I'd stop by and try a new place. Now I will stick to my other fabvorites that are not over priced as well. -I ordered a vegetarian burrito and when I opened the burrito wrap was soggy. -The lengua "Tongue" tacos were overcooked. -The sopa de Rez was bland. - The guacamole was okay - The chips were better. So I will not return or recommend this Taqueria.

Gladis G.

Yelp
Best birria tacos I've ever had! Service was great and every dish was delicious, will come back soon!

Tommy G.

Yelp
Stopped by this little Mexican restaurant for a quick lunch & really enjoyed it! Went by the great reviews on Yelp and was very happy with my lunch. The place, at 1st look, might seem a little 'hole in the wall' next to a gas station.. but it's well worth a visit! The small restaurant is very clean & lively. There's also a great small patio with seating outside that's very comfortable (if it's not too hot out.) I was pleasantly greeted at the front counter upon entry & the hostess said I was welcome to sit anywhere i wanted. I sat and the waitress was able to take my order pretty quickly.. She then brought out a small plate of complimentary nacho chips with salsa. Very fresh, warm chips. They also have a great little salsa bar if you want some more spicy or other types of salsa. I had the CARNITAS (pork) BURRITO for lunch. It was so tasty & fresh. Absolutely loved the flavor with every bite! I'll definitely be back.

Michael B.

Yelp
We were on our way home from the Keys and wanted to find a good place for lunch. We read so many good reviews of Taqueria Morelia, we knew it was a safe bet. It was much more than a "safe bet." It was some of the best Mexican food we've tasted. The location is unassuming - it's literally attached to a gas station - but don't let that fool you. The place is immaculate (including the rest rooms), service is friendly and efficient and the tacos are outstanding. Authentic Mexican music is playing on the sound system to add to the ambience. It's an easy jog from S. Dixie so if you're in the neighborhood, definitely make a point of visiting.

James C.

Yelp
Perfectly seasoned taco al pastor and yes, it has fresh pineapple like it should!!! Oh what's the green stuff you ask? Only the best avocado salsa verde. This is what HULK uses to brush his dang giant teeth with! I also got sucedo= shredded brisket. that's what I said. And barbacoa which was one of the food items Christ used to feed the 5,000 Come over, it's family owned and by the type of family you will like. Yes, they do have a salsa bar for opened for everyone , and if your 21 and older, yes they have a bar! The staff is friendly, kind and gosh darn it all attributes that a good Eagle Scout is. Just... Just come over.

Tatiana E.

Yelp
Came to this hole in the wall when our original destination was closed for renovations. We decided to stop here based on the great reviews. Upon entering into this restaurant inside a gas station, you're told to seat yourself allowing you to pick where and how far from others you want to sit. We started with their queso fundido with chorizo and chips. The chips received were burnt and the fundido didn't have much flavor just a bowl full of grease. I had hoped the tacos I ordered would make the experience better but they also lacked flavor in every way. Felt like I was chewing on cardboard. Unfortunately the only thing that saved the experience was the excellent service.

L L.

Yelp
Taqueria Morelia is a busy joint at dinner time. The food tastes like what I had in Mexico many moons ago, and with proletarian prices to match. For example, the chips are not the American paper-thin style but rather the authentic thicker variety from south of the border. Our fajitas and quesadillas meal was appealing and succulent, not to mention the kaleidoscope of special salsas and condiments provided. This is a "can't miss" venue for either local folks or for frequent flyers like us!
