Thank you Yelpers for consistently delivering great reviews that help me decide my daily food stops, because this location right here... This location here... is AMAZING! Sorry for yelling at my readers in all caps, but you don't understand. My love for hidden gems is exhilarating. San Pancho is tucked away in an older shopping plaza that I have never taken a second glance at. However, as the days get shorter, in the winter, cooking has become slightly a hassle. So when I run across a restaurant with great reviews and a slightly better price point, why not try it.
As you walk into San Pancho you immediately notice the intimacy. The tables are packed closely together and within just six steps you have made it to the cashier. There is a menu above the cash register and there are various handwritten signs, written in Spanish, that tell patrons the specials and rules. When I saw the handwritten signs written in Spanish I knew it was destiny. I knew that the food would be authentic and cared for. Another, important piece was the amount of native persons eating from establishment. It lets you know that the food is authentic. I ordered the regular burrito and the chicken fajita plate.
As I waited for my food I took a stopped into the restroom. The restroom was so neat and clean I was impressed. Great job. As I walked back to the seating area I got a glimpse of the salsa bar. I have never seen a salsa bar so unique. Their were radishes, limes, sauteed onions in chilis, and various salsas. There was also little cups to place the salsa in, but if you want a little more ask the cashier for a plastic bag. The plastic bags are great for on the go dining experiences.
*Entree: Chicken fajita plate
The fajita plate came loaded with rice, beans, a small salad, guacamole, and the most delicious sour cream ever. There is something about Mexican sour cream that drives me insane! I ate this with a touch of the lime and radishes I got from the salsa bar and I went to town.
*Entree: Chicken burrito
The burrito came wrapped in a large soft tortilla. Filled with chicken, beans, rice, and veggies. This meal I actually took to work the next day and my oh my was it worth it. The burrito didn't even make it to 12:00 lunch. I looked at the time (10:45 am) and said it's 12:00 pm somewhere. This burrito was everything.
Overall this restaurant deserves an A+. The women's bathroom was exceptionally clean, service was impeccable, the food was outstanding, and the salsa bar was truly unique (radish, limes, sauteed onions, and salsas). Pitfalls, the inside of the restaurant is slightly small, but with food this good who cares what the inside looks like.
