Absolutely amazing!!! 10/10 and I would rate it higher if I could! The customer service was so amazing and authentic! The outdoor seating was so cute and pleasant on a beautiful day and the tacos. OMG, to die for. They also let me play my own Spanish playlist (thank you ❤️) If you’re passing through the Richmond area and LOVE real street tacos, this is THE spot for you! Already contemplating driving 2 hours just to come back here!

Google
I ordered carne asada and got some steak and barbacoa in both my tacos they mix the meats. I ordered two al pastor which was absolutely disgusting. I've also never seen a place that adds cabbage to their tacos, really weird. I know a lot of Hispanics live out here so I don't know why we're giving this place such a high rating unless it's the white people which is more understandable. Just threw some red salsa on the taco and I swear the red one is rotten or something. The green salsa was really good but otherwise let's get these people to really get some real cooks back there. After taking a closer look at the reviews yes all the people giving it four and five stars are white and all the people giving it less than that are Hispanic that know what real authentic Mexican should taste like

Google
A must try authentic Mexican food. It’s a hidden gem . so far we have tried their Beria tacos, nachos, chicken and steak tacos. Flavors are amazing . I can’t wait to go back again to explore more food from this truck .They have out door table and benches if you want to eat the food their with some banda music playing in the back.

Google
Gas station food truck ub rural Virginia. Fantastic food. Only draw back- pre-ordered, but still a 20 minute wait. Worth the wait, if I did not have other obligations.

Google
One of my sons found this place for a quick lunch. The 3 of us each had 3 tacos and all were very good. Bear in mind this is a food truck kind of place parked on the side of a gas station. Would definitely recommend for a quick and tasty lunch.

Chris Nguyen

Google
Awesome birria tacos and consume. I also highly recommend the horchata drink. It's the creamiest horchata I have ever had. They make your food to order, so expect a little wait.

Google
First time visit to authentic Mexican place. My food was good but it would have been better if it had something creamy on it otherwise everything was sort of dry. I did ask for no beans so maybe that was the "creamy" texture it was missing. Probably would have been better with just some sour cream for people who don't like beans but love Mexican food. Spices/seasoning of food was great.

Google
Me and my boyfriend travel trying different tacos ( and this place is THE BEST queso barria tacos I’ve ever had . I’m currently writing this at 7 am wishing they were open cause I’m craving them now 😂😂 THE PEOPLE ARE SO SWEET. Take my moneysssss!

Yelp
Hands down the BEST birria tacos I have ever had! Definitely had to grab a churro to go along with it.

Yelp
I love this place ! The food is amazing, I go all the time I never have a bad experience here . It's my favorite food truck in the area .

Yelp
With so many taco options out there, I havent given El Chido the usual amount of love recently.....dear El Chido, forgive me You are truly " the Cool one" and my favorite taco, sope and gordito in RVA! Authentic, fresh, flavorful! Great, friendly service and nice size portions. I typically visit the food truck on Staples Mill, though they have several brick and mortar locations around RVA My favorites are al Pastor- sopes, gorditos and tacos The sopes and goritos are crispy on the outside, yet soft on the inside. Al pastor (pork) is tender, moist and flavorfil. This is a permenant food truck location with some outside seating. Located next to BP gas station. My rating rationale  +1 Service +1 Food~Taste/flavor/quality +1 Presentation +1 Atmosphere/vibe +1 Value

Yelp
Great tacos for the price! 3x10. Service fairly quick. Nice option to wait on car, I highly recommend for a tacos night. In and out quick and you can fill your tank while waiting .

Yelp
7:45pm Saturday 2/3/24 This is a food truck next-door to a convenience store my first time visiting and it had good reviews. This place has outside tables. Otherwise it's to go because... it's a food truck. So yeah, it is good for family dates or eating alone. Chicken gordita - delicious Brisket taco - so good And corn - tasty! I will say this the food was very very very good. I will definitely go back again. No question no hesitation. There really isn't a whole lot to say because everything was so so good. Monday 2/5/24 7pm So apparently this food truck that has such delicious food Also has a restaurant on Broad Street. so I was in the area of the restaurant and decided to stop by there and get me the beef brisket taco that I had the other night from the food truck. Not really sure what's going on. If you look at the side-by-side picture, the one on the left came from the food truck and was so delicious. The one on the right came out of the restaurant and was not good at all. I actually threw it away. I'm not sure why these two tacos were different when they're both the same thing I ordered. I feel like the shell on the left from the food truck had like a crunchy shell and then a soft one on the inside. I feel like it was seasoned and flavorful. The one on the right that came out of the restaurant is nothing but a plain ol tortilla. No flavor at all. Barely grilled not crunchy not the same taco at all. Very very disappointing. Just for the record, I did ask the restaurant if they were the same people that owned the food truck on Staples Mill. They also have the same exact name.

Yelp
Definitely worth the hype. The tacos are each $3 - chicken, pork, steak - all the same price. The soft tacos are doubled wrapped in corn tortillas and topped with onions, cabbage, cilantro, and they come with two lime wedges and two types of salsas. The chicken is really nicely seasoned and plentiful. The corn tortilla was a bit dry so I had to add a bunch of the salsa. It also took over 15 minutes for two small tacos.

Yelp
Food is great but careful with using a card. They add a tip without your consent. Called them and all he could say is, sorry about that.

Yelp
I was in the area and when I looked up nearby restaurants, I didn't realize this wasn't the/a brick and mortar location. I confused it with Taqueria El Chido on Broad St but decided to give it a try since I was already there. While the food is authentic, I probably won't be back and here's why: I ordered a suadero torta, a barbacoa taco, and a carnitas taco. The torta was HUGE. But it was all bread. They gave me carnitas instead of suadero and the sad little slices of avocado and tomato had seen better days. The tacos were on two tortillas and were a little skimpy on the meat. Too bad because the barbacoa was tasty. I asked for extra lemon and the hottest red salsa they had. They gave me neither. When I asked the guy on the side of the truck for napkins and the red salsa, he acted putout and handed me one salsa and one napkin begrudgingly. While the food was authentic, it wasn't good enough to make me want to return for the average service and dirty picnic table. But to be clear I'm very down for that type of scene when the either the food or people (mostly food) are awesome.

Yelp
Food is incredible all around. Was planning to eat HotPot but the wait was like 45 minutes at 8:30pm and we were pretty hungry so we mozyed over to what appeared to be a legit taco stand. Did not disappoint. Fresh homemade tortillas, well seasoned, hot sauces were delish. Me and my friend ordered 3 tacos each, proceeded to devour them, and then each ordered 3 additional items each. The sopes and huaraches are equally delicious. Cannot wait to come back and devour the rest of their menu

Yelp
Quioccasin and Pemberton location! Amazing! 10/10! We tried the chicken and a steak taco, all super fresh ingredients and well seasoned! I got my daughter the Jamaican Aguas Frescas and she said it was simply amazing! If you have stopped by do yourself a favor and go! Good prices and amazing food! Go!

Yelp
This place NEVER disappoints. If I ask my wife what she wants and the answer is "yum" we always end up here. Favorite is the barbacoa goditas. Everything is fresh, hot, and delicious.

Yelp
I've been driving past this stand / food truck for over a year now, and I have to say, I've done a great disservice to my stomach and tongue for that decision of not stopping sooner. This place is legit. Simply put, to the point, it's delicious. I have Celiac so I can't vouch for the burritos and the wheat tortilla things, but I've had I believe every meat now, including the Birria they have at their second location, and they're all great. --Food: My favorites are the ground beef (which I know, total gringo choice), barbacoa, and pastor. Something about the ground beef seasonings is *chef's kiss* and most all of the meat is great. I do really like the steak as well, but on occasion it's a little... meaty / chewy, but I think that's just the nature of steak, so I won't dock them any points for this. The Quesabirria tacos at their second location are near life changing. Think of a taco with corn tortillas but made sort of like a quesadilla in that there's cheese, then stuff it with marinated beef, and then grill top fry the whole taco in some beef soup that you made with the marinated beef (and then be served the soup on the side). It's a beefy, cheesy, somewhat crispy masterpiece that really just warrants a try. (Just so long as beef floats your boat, since this sum'bitch is beefy!) Oh, as an aside, the tacos by default are served with onion, cilantro, and cabbage. I'm not a huge cabbage fan and normally order it without. It's good on there, but imo better without. Definitely try it with it though if you like cabbage for that extra crunch. --Cost: Tacos are like $10, Quesabirria are $15ish. I think the rest of the things on the menu are somewhere along this price range. --Service: I've only ever done pickup, but they're always nice. Food is prepared fast and minimal waiting. --Overall: Definite contender for the best tacos in Richmond. Definitely the place I order from the most. For sure stop by next time you drive past and have a hankering for tacos!

Yelp
I ordered through DoorDash and let me tell you... it didn't disappoint!! I ordered the birria tacos and the steak burrito, super fresh and delicious. I also ordered the horchata and it wasn't as authentic and pretty watered down from what I'm use to. The delivery was quick and i have ordered there a couple times since. Always good, recommend if you're hungover, want a quick meal or if you want to try something new!

Yelp
Y'all, all I can say is if you haven't tried El Chido yet, what are you waiting for? With three brick and mortar restaurants and at least two permanent food trucks, you've gotta go. Definitely the best tacos in the Richmond metro area, the fresh chips are insanely addicting, tortas, soup, just everything! Even their fries with queso hit different. I love El Chido and could for sure eat there every day.
google avatar

Tyler C.

Yelp
Service was very slow in the restaurant, when we asked for our food they asked one of us to pay AGAIN. Never received sides that I paid for. Will not be back.
google avatar

Mark C.

Yelp
Unassuming and amazing. At a fucking gas station! My wife and I got a smorgasbord. I had everything beef cheek. Taco, Huarache and sopa. Authentic and delicious!
google avatar

Roger H.

Yelp
A food truck turned taco stand on Broad. Seriously amazing tacos with a host of meats included cheek and tongue. The Al pastor is amazing. Three authentic tacos $10. Lots of other items including Mexican soups. A salsa bar inside too. Just so good! Go! Now

Yelp
5/5! Hands down my new favorite taqueria! You can find this place right next to the gas station, with some tables and chairs for outdoor seating. I went here with my brother and his gf as they highly recommended this place. Needless to say, I have no complaints and the food was incredibly delicious. The food: I decided to try the Beef Tongue, Suadero, and Al Pastor tacos. The beef tongue was hands down my favorite. It was cooked very well and almost melted in your mouth with every bite. The complimentary salsa verde and rojo added a nice spice to the tacos as well. The Al Pastor would be my second favorite and the the Suadero would be my third. I probably wouldn't get the Suadero again, as it was slightly drier than I'd like. The service: The staff were friendly and was able to get our food out relatively fast. They were quite busy as there were people sitting in their cars waiting for their orders. they were able to get all the orders in a timely manner. Overall, this is a definite 5/5 in my books. I'd highly recommend giving this place a try.

Yelp
This food truck is my new go-to. There are two locations, the original location off Staples Mill and the Quioccasin location. I don't prefer one over the other, and the service at both trucks are exceptional. Oftentimes, they will bring the food to your car after you order so that you won't have to stand around and wait. They have the quesabirria tacos here, and I loveeeee love love it. I've gotten it a handful of times, and it is absolutely filling since it's 3 double wrapped tacos fully stuffed WITH consume. My go-to order is typically Lengua (beef tongue), Suadero (beef brisket), and Carne Asada (steak) tacos with extra cilantro. I honestly think that this is one of the most authentic tacos I've had in the Richmond area, and I prefer going to the truck over going to a Mexican restaurant.
google avatar

Jessica K.

Yelp
I went to their new place on Broad st. It is 10/10. You are greeted by an auntie who is super sweet. You order at the register then sit back back w/ a number. The lime and toppings are self serve which is awesome. The meats weren't dry at all which I hate tacos w/ dry meat. The meats were juicy and loaded. The burrito is huge and two girls couldn't finish it. Everything tastes authentic and straight from a abuelitas kitchen. I would say it is pricier than panchitos.
google avatar

Ben C.

Yelp
This place is great every time I go. It's one of the only places that is open after most restaurants close around 9:30 or 10pm as well. I usually just get tacos, but now and again I'll pick something different. The Torta el Chido was full of flavor, with 4 different types of meat and lots of toppings. Everyone has always been friendly, even when they were super busy. The atmosphere is nice outside with lights and music as well, if you want to sit down at a table outside.
google avatar

David J.

Yelp
You don't need to see pictures. You've seen enough food porn. ALL the hype your homies in the know convey is true. All the hype from local RVA foodie bloggers is true. You gotta go to the OG one 1st, on the Staples Mill Rd trailer by the gas station. Not covered. No seating area buy some park benches or inside your whip. Then go to their other locations. We're ALMOST scared to try the newer Broad St/Scott's Addition area spot for fear it's not as good. I said ALMOST, because now I'm checking it out this very weekend!
google avatar

Matthew H.

Yelp
In this area most Mexican restaurants have the same menus and the same taste/appearance and none is particularly worth it. NOT SO for El Chido!! The gorditas kill it! Great flavor, the masa has a beautiful grill crisp to it. Drenched in their tomatillo sauce, it's food porn. Haven't had anything that wasn't enjoyable from their fairly robust menu.
google avatar

Kavon W.

Yelp
One of a kind hidden gem. Always go here on my lunch breaks since there is always something new to try. Really great staff and very friendly. My go to is the carnitas but really everything I get is made with care and reasonably put out efficiently. Eating in has a comfortable vibe and has music and tv to enjoy. I make sure to tip every time I come in. On top of it all they are family owned and work very hard to keep the place open 6 times a week! I have a lot of respect for how they operate and will continue to enjoy this establishment.
google avatar

Robert L.

Yelp
I usually post pictures with my reviews, but the tacos were gone too quick on this one! There is nothing better than an authentic taco truck and this one fits the bill! Creative food, cheap, and delicious!
google avatar

Yelp
I was craving authentic Mexican street tacos in Henrico/Richmond and found this spot here on Yelp. I got there right at opening today and was first in line. We ordered the following: Chicken Sopes Carne Asada tostada Beef Burrito Carnitas tacos I cannot put into words how delicious everything was!!! The carnitas tacos were perfect and the spicy salsa they give with your order made it next level! The sopes has crunch and so much flavor! All the toppings (salsa, refried beans, cheese, crema, lettuce, tomato) worked so well together and with the chicken. Next time I'm getting a beef one. Sopes are my new cheat meal thanks for this place! My BF had the burrito and said it was bomb! I ate the tostada later that day and it held its crunch very well. The beef was seasoned well too. My new favorite place to eat. I will be here often . Sorry no pics of anything but sopes because we were starving and ate it as soon as we got the order...LOL!!!
google avatar

Ally W.

Yelp
If you're not sure, give it a try! We got a Huarache and a Mexican burger. I've never seen a Mexican burger before, it was loaded with hot fresh steak bites, ripe avocado, chunky pico, queso fresco, salsa. Quioccasin and Pemberton food truck location will bring your food to your car, but we sat at their tables in the parking lot. Fast friendly service!
google avatar

Leighton C.

Yelp
Amazing food truck permanently set up by a gas station. Authentic street tacos. Some of the best Mexican food in VA!
google avatar

Lauri W.

Yelp
Babyyyyyy this little truck is everything! I have been wanting to try Birria tacos for so long and the time finally came for me to seek out the Taqueria truck. This isn't where I thought it was, it's actually across the street. This truck/trailer? is located in the gas station parking lot. Don't worry, it's super legit. I ordered the quesabirria tacos to share with my husband. It's $15 and comes with 3 tacos and the birria broth/sopa. It was still hot when I got home. The meat was sooooo juicy and tender. I couldn't get enough. I wish I hadn't offered to share with my husband because I could have eaten the whole meal by myself. The broth was equally amazing with more tender chunks of meat and flavorful soup. This is going to be my go to for easy takeout. I like that they bring it to your car and parking is right in front of the truck. This place is gold and I'm also going to try the restaurant that they also own in the Marshall's shopping center nearby.
google avatar

Marie J.

Yelp
We love coming here for authentic Mexican food! We had biria tacos and regular tacos!! All of them are delishhh! Come check this place out next to BP gas station!
google avatar

Jennifer G.

Yelp
Best food truck I've found. Everything is great: suadero burrito was amazing. Highly recommend the sopes and gorditas as well!

Joelle J.

Yelp
It's a food truck! I had initially planned to go sit and get food without realizing it. Anyway, that's fine because the food was great! Tacos were the bomb and adequately priced. Elote was good too. Excited to go back soon!
google avatar

Kimia A.

Yelp
My bf and I usually get the sopes and absolutely LOVE it, but this time we were craving carne asada, and we ordered that instead. The food was excellent, and it came with a lot of sides. There was also a good amount of steak compared to other places, and we LOVED the grilled jalapenos. This place and their food truck are amazing!!! Def best carne asada around RVA!
google avatar

Quantina T.

Yelp
This is my go-to taco truck! The authentic cuisine and fast paced food truck is nestled in a parking lot on Staples Mill Rd. The set-up is like a cookout at grandmas house. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. Let's talk food. I usually get the chicken quesadilla which comes with a side salad with avocados, tomatoes, conjita cheese, cabbage and crema Fresca! Now baby this is not your average mix up. This quesadilla is cooked to perfection with fresh cheese and a layer of beans. I'm not even a bean eater, but this quesadilla has rocked my world! Because I'm greedy I also get a carne asada taco which is just as delectable as the quesadilla. You have to try them for yourself!
google avatar

Donn V.

Yelp
Ordered the birria, which comes with three in an order. Good size with lots of cheese. A little greasy and not as beefy tasting compared to others I have had, but it is very filling. They gave me a red and green salsa on the side. The green salsa went well with the birria. They give you lots of consume. The pineapple flavored Jarritos soda went well with the birria tacos. I'm curious to try other items on their menu.
google avatar

Christopher R.

Yelp
I got four different tacos and they were all great. There was a red and green salsa served along with them and they were very flavorful and had just the right amount of heat. Can't wait to go back and try something different.
google avatar

Ariana R.

Yelp
best rva spot for birria tacos!! worth the price for sure! i go here AT LEAST once a week. tbh i feel like they should sponsor me or something by now they double layer your taco shell so it doesn't break after you dip it in the sauce cup thing after multiple times. they don't skimp out on the ingredients and truly stuff each taco! the wait time is always short and fast,,,the staff is super friendly too! im never going to get over this spot i take all my friends here especially the first timers who never had birria tacos before! i hope you guys check it out :)

Yelp
Ok so it's a stationary food truck in a parking lot on Staples Mill. Not a ton of seating and currently it's pretty dang hot outside, but we have been two days in a row! This is the real deal. Mexican street tacos, deliciously served up with choices of salsa, chiles, radish and cucumber. They are slightly spendy, but weighted down with you choices of meats. I highly recommend the Barbacoa, Carne Asada, and Pastor. We also got Elotes (Mexican corn). We have been quickly trying to eat our way through the menu. The corn tortillas are not handmade, but they are supple and sturdy, and very tasty! We have yet to make it to the Sopes and Gorditas, but those are handmade, and look stuffed and delicious. We also haven't gotten a chance to try the Tortas, but I know we won't be disappointed. So far everything we have tried is succulent and tasty. The Cachete (cheek) was a little more dry than I expected, but all in all we were really pleased to finally have a fantastic place not too far from our house. We will definitely make it back soon. Ok so I have since been back a couple more times, and I have to say, my favorite has become the barbacoa. The taste is out of this world amazing. I highly recommend the tostadas and sopes! They are so tasty. I still haven't gotten the huaraches and Tortas yet, but they pile everything so high I can only get two at a time!
google avatar

Yelp
The. Best. Tacos. In. Richmond. It has been written. But seriously. You guys. Tacos are love and El Chido loves the most. Everything, and I mean, everything, is made in house. Ingredients are always super fresh, flavorful, and legit. Beyond street tacos, they have a plethora of other offerings including tortas, burritos, and freaking amazing sopes! I've tried most of the meats at this point and my favorite are the barbacoa, chicken, and pastor. They recently started offering birrias tacos too!
google avatar

Ashland B.

Yelp
Amazing real street tacos. Flavor is great and you won't want to miss out. Please don't judge a book by its cover; I will be going back!!!
google avatar

Carol J.

Yelp
Churros and tacos were on point! Authentic Mexican food. My boyfriend and I tried their carnitas, chicken, lengua and barbacoa tacos which were all delicious. Definitely will be visiting again.
google avatar

Rachel J.

Yelp
I really enjoy their steak tacos they are basic but very tasty. I also discovered if you pay extra for pico and add to the tacos that adds extra flavor and makes them even better. I recently tried their birria tacos which are delicious as well. The churros are a cheap but yet good dessert also!
google avatar

Kandace-Ma'at B.

Yelp
We went here for some late night eats! They were very yummy. The only thing I didn't like was their chips haha. They were thicker than I was used to and didn't come with salsa or anything. It was kinda weird:l.
google avatar

Fred D.

Yelp
I have been going here for the better part of the year. Seriously, these are the absolute best tacos in the Richmond area. In addition to the usual proteins, they also have tripe, cheek, and tongue. Can't go wrong with any of them.
google avatar

Kara S.

Yelp
Definitely coming back here for the birria tacos. Only spot I've tried that they actually give you the shredded meat in the birria stew (not sure of the terminology). Wait was a little long, they seemed super busy for a Thursday
google avatar

Eduin S.

Yelp
Very friendly staff serving authentic Mexican cravings! I've had tacos, gorditas, and tortas.. I LOVE THEM ALL! This food truck is on its own category when it comes to Mexican food, not what you are used to getting at regular dine-in places! They have tables and chairs for you to use, or just enjoy the food in your car.

Mary S.

Yelp
Amazing Birria Tacos and delicious guacamole. Went for dinner at 8, and sat us down right away, food came out within 10 minutes. Great little taco place for good food and beer !

Sierra F.

Yelp
Normally my food is amazing but the last time I went. My food was cold even though I waited along time and there were gnats in my agua de pina. Which made me literally sick. This has never happened. Kinda has me rethink if this is my favorite taco spot.
