The 14 Essential San Antonio Restaurants

"The casual Dellview restaurant offers a speedy diner experience with a streamlined menu. This taco pit stop grew from a taco stand and serves one thing: Jalisco-style street tacos stuffed with a selection of meats including al pastor, brisket, and lengua on corn tortillas. The counter-service indoor dining room is open until midnight every night, and until very early morning on weekends, making it a popular spot for late-night taco cravings." - Polly Anna Rocha, Ben Gonzalez

Service is really good and fast!! You order your tacos at an open kitchen window were you can see a huge trompo of Al Pastor!! You have your tacos on the spot! I ordered carne asada and Al Pastor, they didn't have carnitas which was a bummer. They had a red salsa and a green timatillo salsa, the green was better, but both not hot, could of used a little hotter salsa, did like the limes and radish it's served with! Al pastor was great, sift, flavorful and juicy meat! Carne asada Steak was kind of bland, average steak taco but still ok. I would definitely go back, quick, good, good service and fast! Recommend the AL PASTOR!!!

A San antonio staple, the mini tacos were on point, the atmosphere was energetic, and the prices were wallet friendly. We had 3 orders, pastor, barbacoa, and asada. The carne was tender, juicy, and flavorful. The food reminded my partner of brownsville. The food is rgb certified, enough said. -We bought 3 orders of minis and 2 mexicans sodas for 18$

This place was amazing. The tacos are great - loved the chorizo tacos. Cheap and very traditional vibe. DO NOT MISS THE FLAN. It was amazing. We ordered one, then ordered 5 more lol. Hence do visit this place. Total was $48 for 5 people with drinks.

Probably one of the best tacos I’ve ever had. Line can get long but the service here is excellent. They’re super fast and you won’t be kept waiting long. Food is excellent and super fresh. Everything is proportional from the meat to the toppings on the tortilla. I got 1 of every taco. Al pastor and the buche were my favorite. Salsas were great too. Horchata was excellent too. Perfect to calm the spice from the salsa. When you’re done with your first plate, someone may come by and ask if you want more. Can’t get better service than that. Prices are great too. And they have cool sweets when you go up to pay. A must try when in San Antonio

Overall, really good, cool vibes, generous amount of meat and super fast service!🙌🏽 I got the brisket and the carne asada taquito plates to go. For me, the meat was lacking a little seasoning, but the salsas, cilantro, onions, and other veggies were fresh and tasty so that balanced it nicely.😌 I’ll definitely be back to try the al pastor as well as the carne asada again in person because I’m sure the 10-min drive home when I take it to go makes a difference.

Taquitos West Ave: The #1 Street Tacos in Texas—No Contest If you’re on the hunt for the best street tacos in Texas, stop right now. Taquitos West Ave in San Antonio isn’t just good—it’s legendary. This is the kind of place where taco dreams come true, where the sizzle of fresh meat on the grill and the intoxicating aroma of charred goodness will have you ordering before you even hit the counter. The setup is simple: walk in, order by the taco (and trust me, you’ll want more than you think), and let the magic happen. Whether it’s pastor shaved straight from the trompo, succulent bistec, or tender tripas crisped to perfection, every bite is a flavor explosion wrapped in a warm corn tortilla. Top it with their fresh salsas, onions, and cilantro, and you’ve got taco nirvana. The moment you sit down a server will appear like a magician and ask what beverage you fancy. But Taquitos West Ave isn’t just about the food—it’s about the experience. It’s fast, it’s casual, and it’s packed with locals who know this is where you get the real deal. There’s nothing fancy here, just pure, unfiltered taco perfection. San Antonio may be known for the Alamo, but let’s be real—Taquitos West Ave is the true landmark. If you call yourself a taco lover, missing this spot should be a crime. #1 in Texas? Absolutely. And honestly, maybe #1 in the universe.
