"Taranta, one of the few places I loved in the North End, serving innovative Italian with occasional Peruvian touches for decades." - Rachel Leah Blumenthal

"If you’re sick of North End Italian restaurants whose idea of mixing things up is putting something with pesto on the menu, head to Taranta on Hanover. This is an Italian restaurant that went to Peru, potentially tried some ayahuasca, and had visions of excellent fusion dishes like gnocchi stuffed with cassava root. This small, brick-walled spot is much better than a lot of the other Hanover Street restaurants that get all the lines." - Dan Secatore

Being in the north end, you can expect to pay a little more for the food here than you might elsewhere, and it's worth it. Went here as a group of 10 and everything we got was excellent. The fusion between Italian and Peruvian cuisine is a slightly different take than the more traditional Italian restaurants in this area which is another big plus.

Great cosy restaurant with comfort food done to perfection with interesting accents. Their fish is amazing!

A true hidden gem. The specials were fantastic, this was the best meal I've had in 5 years in Boston. The menu is really unique - it isn't a mix of Peruvian and Italian dishes, each individual dish is a mix of the two cuisines which was really interesting and turned out to be very very delicious. We also loved the waiter!

The food here was outrageously good. My husband's steak was one of the best I've ever had. My pasta was amazing - I had a ravioli special with asparagus and mushrooms. My friends all loved their food, specifically the orecchiette pasta and the lobster and crab ravioli. Highly, highly recommend this place.

Amazing food and a great spot. The fusion of cooking styles and ingredients is a sure win, and the location is unbeatable. We got seated on the second floor next to large, open windows overlooking the park - great for enjoying the nice weather I got the Gnocchi, which is made with Banana Yucca instead of potato and topped with a spicy lamb ragu - packed with flavor and you won't leave hungry! The prices are spectacular for the quality you are getting. Go in and try something new!

Highly recommended Italian restaurant with a twist. Food was perfectly executed. Excellent combination of flavors and textures. Good size bottle selection. Not too crowded, even on a Friday night. Large portion size. Save room for dessert though. Only drawback was that the staff is on the small side, so service was a little slow at times.

Beautiful atmosphere, wonderful service, very good food. I have to admit that I didn't really enjoy my main course, it had a blanket of spice that obscured all the other flavors, but the starters and desserts were absolutely incredible. We were a big and indecisive group, and our server very kindly accommodated us. Open air second floor had really great ambiance too.

Jose (owner) puts on a great show. The food is excellent and different from the standard fare in the North End. We had a company event there last night that was a team cooking lesson. Could not have been more fun and organized. Highly recommend!
