Yelp
The Dulles target is an okay store, but I do think it could use some improvement.
I come here very consistently, almost daily, because I work across the street. The store is not clean, not well stocked, but there's always an employee around that's more than happy to help out with anything you may need. Most of the time, there's no issues, and I'm able to find what came in for, no questions asked. Sometimes I walk out with some other goodies too!
The gentleman who works at the in-store Starbucks always has a smile on his face and is wonderful to work with. He always is happy to help!
Like I mentioned before, this is a decent Target location, but there are a few errors that if I believe, are fixed, would make this location truly exceptional!
A lot of times, the candy shelves up front are not consistently rotated and checked for expired food. There's been a few occasions where I've bought some candy (Reese's Cups and Reese's Sticks, to be specific) and the date reads EXP 09/19 and we're in January 2020 now.
What is even more unacceptable, and frankly, blows my mind, is this location thinks it is perfectly acceptable (which it is NOT) to place expired merchandise on clearance. In all the stores I've worked in, expired food and other merchandise either gets disposed of in an appropriate manner, or is returned to the vendor, for partial credit, no exceptions.
Target advertises a "price match guarantee". They state, if you find a lower price at a competitor, bring in the ad, and we'll match the price. Simple, no hassles. I've done this on multiple occasions. Usually I have no problems.
About a week ago, I went to purchase a flashlight to keep in the glovebox of my truck, in case I need some extra light or have an emergency. I found an Energizer Industrial Hard Case flashlight at Target, and really liked the design and durability. I saw it was $15 and I thought, great deal! I pulled one off the shelf, and headed up to checkout.
Upon arrival to the self-checkout counter, I politely asked the gentleman who was assisting customers at the self checkout counter, if I could have a price match with Amazon. I found the same exact model of flashlight on Amazon, for only $10. I know $5 isn't a lot, but I try to save money where I can, I'm a 20 year old college student on a budget.
When asked for a price match, The gentleman responded with: "I don't have time to go get a manager to price match that for you, go to the other
Sterling Target, and they can do it. I don't have time."
So let me get this straight. You want me, to go fifteen minutes to another store, because you are too lazy to do your job? I thought that was ridiculous. If you can't stop what you're doing (which was nothing, just on his phone), for just a minute, and help with a simple task, why are you working here?
So, off to Sterling Target I go. I walked right in, the woman at the customer service desk happily refunded the difference between Target and Amazon and apologized for the poor experience at the Dulles Target location. At this point, I'd happily drive the extra 15 minutes out of my way to get better customer service.
To close, Dulles Target excels in some areas and is lacking in others. If they'd correct their issues, Dulles Target would earn an A in my book.
