Tashkent Supermarket Halal Food

This is a terrific place. Recommended to me by my barber, it has got all kinds of great Uzbek and Russian influenced foods. The prepared food is especially a reason to come here and the lamb shawarma is simply the best I’ve ever had and a reason to come in itself. The presence of Russian dairy, canned food, and bottled drinks is another reason to come. The produce is also fresh and reasonably priced. With plenty of street parking outside and being found in a very interesting Russian and Jewish influenced food shopping district , it’s a place I’ve already returned to a second time while also checking out other stores nearby, several of which are also great supermarkets that serve this community.

I am very disappointed with Tashkent due to repeated food quality and safety issues. This is not the first incident. Not long ago, I purchased chicken-filled crepes, and the meat inside was sticky and clearly spoiled. At that time, the staff replaced them with another product, so I did not leave a review. However, this recent situation made it clear that the problem is ongoing. Most recently, I bought two containers of salmon caviar. One was fine, but the other was completely spoiled, with a strong rotten smell, and was missing the oxygen absorber inside. This is a serious food safety concern. I could have easily served this to guests and caused food poisoning. I want to be very clear: I have no complaints about the salesperson. He was polite, professional, and genuinely tried to smooth the situation. If not for his excellent attitude, I would have been far more upset and would have demanded a refund. Because of him, I simply left. That said, selling spoiled food is unacceptable. I am very upset and hope management takes immediate steps to fix their quality control.

Tashkent Supermarket on 108th Street in Queens has always had a strong point in its meat department—the butchers continue to maintain great consistency and quality, and that part of the store still deserves credit. However, the rest of the store needs serious improvement. The bakery section often has items that taste old or seem expired, and it shows in both freshness and flavor. The hot buffet has also been disappointing; on several occasions the food tasted off, as if it was either expired or not properly cooked. Overall, the inconsistency across multiple departments has made it hard to rely on Tashkent as a go-to place anymore, and they really need to raise their standards if they want to keep customers coming back.

Best shawarma in the city. Friendly people, especially guys who sells plov and shawarma. Food is tasty and fresh!Highly recommend, don’t matter if you’re eastern european or american, you will like this market! Shoutout to guys who make plov, you are the best!

Very difficult to find parking here always since there are many small businesses next to one another. Store also is very tight space as small as a normal size Bodega in Brooklyn. Cashiers are fast and friendly young students. Meat is the best here. Clean, no blood, no odors. Workers butchers are fast kind and serve you well. Sharma and gyro is best tasting and the guy at front desk half of the time doesn't know if he is even there or is it day, night time or if he is in the right state of mind. Treat nice to his own people and is bit of Rasicst in my opinion. The chef who cooks is much kinder, serves good makes best roll, sandwich however you want it. I am a regular twice a month shopper who spends here over $100.00 each time. I think the Gyro shawrma people run business separately. Sometimes you just want to punch the guy in the face to teach him that he is there to take order and serve polity or fair to all people of colors. He isn't in Uzbekistan or khazikstan, we are all here in NY usa 😀 ok overall I'll keep shopping here and the meat is the best here then so many other towns. That's what we really come here for. Many other russian polish ukrainian products are prices fairly. Some stuff is expensive. Produce is very clean too and organized well. Store really needs to expand as people are on top of each other always. An angry person shopping here can easily become more frustrated by shopping here with people saying excuse me! Excuse me...

First time to try this place, it’s not the best shawarma but it’s also delicious. I ordered chicken shawarma and I like it, beef and lamb shawarma ( lamb has gamey taste) , beef plov which is also good. They used insulated bag to keep the food warm upon delivery.

I can blame them 100% for making me stake lover. 😂 cause I live now far away I become addicted buying fresh halal meat from them and started my meat lover journey. They have everything fresh out there. 100% recommend them for everyone. My only complaint is...damn super expensive cherries and blueberries (but I guess we should blame mr T for that) 😆🥳

If you come to Tashkent in Queens expecting the same volume of products as the two locations in Brighton Beach you will be fairly disappointed. The Queens location has great produce/dairy/butcher and Plov bar. However the buffet just doesn't compare. It's small.

Quite an interesting Uzbek supermarket that sells homemade cakes, pastries and precooked and cooked to order foods. The precooked is all on display and sold by the pound. A small supermarket, by it's packed to the gills with fresh produce, meats, pastries, groceries and such. All the cooked food is in the back, in a hot buffet table. Prepared hot and cold traditional Uzbek and Russian foods. Dishes like shawarma and plov. Plov: national dish of Uzbekistan. Usually made with lamb, beef, or chicken, carrots, onions, and fragrant spices like cumin, barberries, and garlic. Talk to the guy in the back behind the counter if you want something specific. Nor much decor. It's a small store with narrow aisles and it's usually crowded. Everything seems very fresh. An interesting place to check out if you happen to be in the neighborhood.

Always in the search for good options for cuisine from this region and I think this is a solid option. There are so many other options (wish I had gotten a kebab for $5 from the hot bar) that I do feel like I'll probably come back for takeout. I thought it would be an overwhelming experience but it was much more manageable than I envisioned. Set inside a cute little market with tons of regional options. Went straight to the plov station and got the lamb plov. This in the end was very fine in terms of taste. I will say I find it fascinating (weird) that the pricing is by pound of total dish-while I feel like I got a fair amount of meat they could easily just plow this full of rice/vegetables to drive the price up. We also got a shawarma wrap. I don't love lavash bread but I didn't mind this for this wrap as I felt it was filled with fine flavoring and I appreciate a pressed wrap. The hot bar is where the real decisions happen. We got a pumpkin and lamb samsa, both of which were meh. A skosh too salty. The manti I feel can't be missed here: huge and full of flavor. The cashier was super friendly and the service was quick.

This is one of my fav supermarkets in the neighborhood because they have the best honey cake ever! They've got a hot buffet bar as well as a bakery in the back so you can get your groceries and get your dessert and ready dinner too! Never had an issue with any of their staff and the store is cleaner than most I've been to. There's also parking (small) so you can drive and not have to worry about where you're parking!

Finally had the time to go into the 6th Ave location. For an individual who grew up on this type of food, from Uzbekistan, this supermarket was the "best candy store". The selection of the prepared food, lamb, chicken, fish the various salads along with the smoked fish was mouthwatering. Have to mention the excellent service the floor staff provided.

Heads up, this place gets BUSY and cramped because the isles are very narrow and the place itself is tiny. There's a great selection of central Asian food to choose from, plenty of vegetarian options, dessertand it's all halal! I got some beef manti, fried fish, a beef and lamb samsa, a chicken cutlet of sorts, Pirojki potato and Kachapuri. The honey cake was bouncy and springy. Very light and airy. Very delicate flavors and very good! The fried fish was okay. Wouldn't get it again. Very plain and it did have a light fishy taste and I personally don't like that. The samsa pastry was excellent. The meat inside was very fatty and it was also in the manti! There's very little seasoning but somehow it still was good?!!!! I think it was from the caramelized onions. The pirojki potato and Kachapuri was my favoriteeeeee. The former was a fluffy lightly chewy interior and crunchy soft exterior and stuffed with herby mashed potatoes. And the kachapuri had such a good flavor from the cheeses! Insane cheesepull. The chicken thing was good but also had a weird aftertaste so yeah no not again. I'm sure it was meant to be eaten with SOMETHING but I made the mistake of not getting a salad with it. By the way they have a lot of salad options to choose from so there's that. I am eager to return and will most certainly be soon!

Everything there is delicious! The prepared foods (Plov) are exquisite. The endless decadent pastries and fancy european cakes, the buttery Uzbekistan Walnuts, the imported organic cherry and pomegranate juices, excellent quality fresh halal meat! The staff is helpful and hard working. They sell Sujuk sausage! I just wish they would expand or buy a bigger space. There is so much goodness in that little Queen's shop begging for more space.

Mixed shawarma in Uzbek bread is amazing, sandwich is full of flavor. Must try. Beef/Lamb and chicken shawarma is so fresh and juicy- not fry at all like other places. Sorry no pictures just devoured into my sandwich. A.B

Small Uzbek and halal supermarket with a hot foods and dessert section. All the foods looked delicious and fresh. They have three different types of plov at the plov station in the back. I had the lamb samsa and the lamb plov. Both were delicious! The plov was really flavorful with the rice and vegetables, but a bit oily. The meat was tender. Best plov I've had and price is not bad (by the pound)! I'm looking forward on coming again to try the other foods. They also have halal meat which looked really fresh and was reasonably priced!

I paid $40 for the plov which after eating it I had a horrible heartburn for many hours At that day I ate just that plov so the heartburn could be just from that dish! Anyway I tried it again on the next day since it was pretty big dish and I had again a heartburn. I am not sure what was the reason (maybe they did not change the oil) but I will not buy this plov over there anymore!

Nice food , good location one the best halal market in the village.recommend also to buy halal meat and halal groceries.

I'm thankful this shop is in my neighborhood! It's clean, orderly, with produce, baked goods ,and meats that are fresh and reasonably priced. The array of prepared foods in this small shop is amazing and tasty! I had their chicken samsa @ $2.99, and beef with lamb samsa @ $3.49. Reheated it in the air fryer and it was crisp and yummy! I'll be back to try the shwarma and other prepared foods which looked so inviting. I can't wait to check out the mother store in Brighton Beach!

Love the food and service and it beats driving to Brighton Beach from Great Neck It's a bit crowded but patience is rewarded

I recently saw a TikTok video about their Brooklyn location which I have not been to but found this location in Queens much closer to me. This supermarket is not very big but they seem to have a large variety of things to buy, store is very clean and the staff are nice and helpful. During my visit I only purchased the lamb plov and manti which I really enjoyed. I noticed they have a very nice meat selection so I will definitely be back to get some of their steaks.

Their Halal shawarma is delicious. Portion is good. I shop there regularly and the counter staff is very polite and greet every customer. It's a beautiful store with lots of nice food items. I only wish it was bigger so that there is more room to move around. Thank you for having Halal meat and cooked food in this neighborhood.

The best avocados are here. The prices seem fair on most things some things are too pricey. Pineapples that are 3-4 dollars elsewhere are 6-7 dollars here. The people seem nice but the problem is there is always someone who just cuts the line and they don't say anything. I am not sure if they are family, employees or what but every time I am there and there is a long line someone just walks up to the counter and pays without any explanation or apology. So now I just don't stay if there is a line. I will shop elsewhere or come shop if it happens to be not too busy. Overall a nice place to shop.
