The Best Barbecue in the Bay Area, Summer 2024 | Eater SF

"The San Francisco Chronicle named this well-off-the-beaten-path restaurant one of the best barbecue spots in the Bay Area, calling it a true taste of Texas barbecue in the depths of Contra Costa County. Order meats by the pound and don’t miss the pork spareribs and pulled pork. There’s a full menu of mains and sides, though, with options such as beef brisket and ribs, barbecue rice, and jalapeno cheddar grits. Be warned: there are only a few tables outside so you may need to take your brisket sandwich on the road." - Eater Staff

A line into a small building and a wonderland of awesome barbecue. We were expecting dry meat but to our surprise, it was excellent. We chose pulled pork, beef ribs, beef brisket, jalapeno sausage, mac and cheese and cole slaw. All were great. Service is nice and efficient. There are tables with shade to eat outside. Get the tres leches for dessert.

The brisket is really good and all the different sides are all amazingly done. They added a chili that is really good and very new. This place offers a down to earth, great BBQ option for a short drive from the Bay Area!

Google
I’m very impressed. Hidden gem deserves your support. Family owned and operated. Only BBQ place within 20 miles that I’m aware of and it might put the competition out of business. If you're looking for the ultimate BBQ experience, look no further than this incredible spot. From the moment you walk in, you'll be transported to a world of smoky, savory goodness that will leave you drooling with anticipation. But the real star of the show here is the brisket and pulled pork. Both are cooked to perfection, with a rich, smoky flavor that will have you coming back for more. The brisket is so tender, it practically melts in your mouth, while the pulled pork is juicy and full of flavor. But it's not just the meat that's outstanding. The sides are equally impressive, with a range of classic BBQ sides like coleslaw, baked beans, and mac and cheese that will have you feeling like you're at a backyard cookout with friends. I also tried the jalapeño grits which are delicious. And let's not forget about the atmosphere. The casual, laid-back vibe of the place will make you feel right at home, while the friendly staff will make sure you're well taken care of. Outside seating only but you’ll want to soak up the sun anyway. Overall, this BBQ joint is a must-visit for anyone who loves good food, good company, and a good time. Your taste buds will thank you! Parking - tight Price - expensive Value - 5/5 Return Value - 5/5 Service - 5/5 No bathroom available and the closest one is a mile away.

Google
The food was very good. The customer service was good. Being single it can get expensive buying everything by the pound. I spent $44 on just two items being brisket and mac and cheese. I really wanted to try this place so I went with it. It would have been nice to simply buy a plate. Hopefully, they'll start selling entrees and sides as a plate. I would definitely stop by more often.

Google
It has taken me a long time to actually be able to try this place. The Big Texan Burrito was absolutely amazing!!! Full of flavor and contents. Also tried the Brand new amazing Mango green tea drink! They have a variety so speciatly drinks and some you do not see every day! Will be going back for more. I hear the sausages are amazing as well.

Google
THIS PLACE IS AWESOME. first time I went today. I traveled over an hour to get to this place. IF YOU ARE FROM THE SOUTH, this is the BBQ people. This is about as close as you can possibly get to SUPER quality bbq. 1/2 lb for $13 brisket 16 hours. This is on another level for sure!

Google
The food is great. Really solid brisket and ribs and jalapeño cheddar sausage. They were out of pulled pork and potato salad by around 12:30pm which is a little bit of a bummer. The bigger bummer is that there wasn’t really enough seating for the lunch rush when we were there, it was loud with traffic noise, and it was super windy so our stuff kept blowing away.

Google
Best Barbque around!! You gotta give this place a try.. the Grits are amazing and the Mac and cheese is BOMB!! The brisket, ribs and the sausage are amazing. We drive hour for this Barbque. Only draw back to this place has no inside seating, but they have tables outside under a cover.

Yelp
RAVE for Texas BBQ (Byron). My husband and I have passed by this place for almost 10 years. His barber and co-workers have always suggested we try it. Hate it took us so long to do so. The ribs, and brisket were so tender. The regular links and Italian links were flavorful. Nothing needed bbq sauce (though I added it anyway). We gave it 5 's especially because the owner and his family were so sweet and gave us a history lesson on the preparation of the meat. We'll most definitely be back to try the jalapeño cheddar grits! Sidenote: Be prepared to spend a little money....they charge by the 1/2 lb.

Yelp
The food was outstanding. My guest's raved about how good it was. They weI ordered the brisket, pulled pork, potato salad, Mac n cheese and coleslaw. Definitely will use their services for my next party! I wish I had taken a picture of the set up. Next time for sure.

Yelp
Taste of Texas Barbecue is a hole in the wall and unassuming restaurant located on the Byron Highway, it's definitely one of those unique places that a rad to come by in California. When looking for this place you might pass it up as the signage does not say Taste of Texas Barbecue but still says Byron Cafe which was previously here. I've been on the hunt for some really good barbecue in the Bay Area, Central Valley and so on and I happened to find this place on Yelp. What really intrigued me was how they serve the barbecue and how it is very reminiscent of BBQ places in the Midwest and South. Upon walking in you get a Texas feel, there are cow hides on the wall, various horse statues, cowboy boots and newspaper articles showcasing their restaurant. The ambiance and decor really is on point. The customer service here is pretty good as well, the staff is very friendly and welcoming. The menu is pretty small but packs a punch when it comes to the offerings. They have brisket, pulled pork, pork spareribs, beef ribs (Saturdays only), sausages, sandwiches, burritos and a big drink menu. Not only that but they have a nice variety of sides such as coleslaw, ranchero beans, potato salad, BBQ rice, mac n cheese and jalapeno cheddar grits. The one thing I do like is that when you order your brisket, sausage, pork, ribs that it's cut and chopped right in front of you and placed in butcher paper. I haven't seen another BBQ spot in the area that does this. I've been here a couple of times and I'm a bit disappointed with the food. The brisket is juicy and tender but definitely too salty. If it wasn't so salty it would be amazing. The mac n cheese is ok, has a heavy pepper taste and could use more cheese. The BBQ rice is a huge let down, I think what throws it off for me is that they use jasmine rice instead of regular long grain rice. The jasmine rice just doesn't taste very good with the sausage and brisket that's in the rice and it also has a heavy pepper flavor. The brisket sandwich is ok, it's brisket, pickled onions and coleslaw on a bun. I just wish the bun held up better as it got soggy fast from the coleslaw. Overall, the food is hit or miss but the brisket would be amazing if it wasn't so salty and I wish they had tri-tip. I probably won't be back which is a bummer and I will continue my hunt for the best BBQ in the area.

Yelp
If you're looking for a great barbecue spot, this place definitely hits the mark! The atmosphere is laid-back and pet-friendly, with plenty of covered outdoor seating - perfect for enjoying your meal with your furry friends. The meat choices are top-notch: the sausage, brisket, pork ribs, and pulled pork are all flavorful and cooked to perfection. We paired ours with the Mac and cheese and coleslaw, which were both delicious and complemented the meats really well. We didn't have room for dessert this time, the choices were banana pudding and tres leches cake, so we'll definitely be coming back to indulge in those. Highly recommend giving this place a visit!

Yelp
Excellent meats and sides. Service is very good and folks are friendly. Not really much ambiance, a few pictures on the wall would help. But very good food and that what counts, Brisket is wonderful.

Yelp
What a fun little hole in the wall, been wanting to try it for a couple of yrs and finally made it today. There were 2 of us and we had 1/2 pd of brisket,4 pork ribs and a pd of cheddar jalapeno sausage along with 2 sides cheddar grits and potato salad. Brisket was melt in your mouth, ribs were fall off the bone, jalapeno sausage very tasty also, both sides were good also. We got there right at 11 when they opened and good thing steady stream of customers placed was packed by the time we left, plenty of.outdoor seating no indoor seating,if u happen to b in the area give it a try its worth it!!!

Yelp
I really want to give 4.5 stars - but I'd rather sway up than down. My ONLY "complaint" would be the lack of a bathroom and a relatively limited beverage selection (no diet for my husband). The BBQ, however, gets 5+ stars! Best brisket west of Texas, by far! The beef rib is an experience in itself' - hUGE and delicious! Sides were good as well (but watch the Mac and cheese with Littles - it was peppery, which we liked). Owners seems really cool - Phillip and Amanda. I highly recommend you give them a try! Be prepared to spend some money, but we thought it was well worth it. We'll be back!

Yelp
AWARENESS: A friend who resides in Mountain House told me about this places a few months back. He told me, the Byron Cafe where we would have breakfast together had closed and Taste of Texas BBQ had taken its place. NARRATIVE: Only open from Thursday through Sunday, Taste of Texas BBQ delivers. There hasn't been one item I've tried I didn't like and I've tried them ALL. My only recommendations are: Arrive close to their opening time if you want to try a specific item like, pork ribs and, make sure to especially arrive early on Saturday for their beef ribs which they only sale on that day. Other than that, enjoy! SCENE: Taste of Texas BBQ is located on Byron Highway, just East of Highway 4. They have plenty of parking but, very few tables for dining outside and no tables or service for indoor dining. RECOMMENDATION(S): For folks living in Tracy. It may be a 20 minute drive out of your way but, it's worth ever second on the road. To my Mountain House peeps, you have a good thing going so, make sure to visit often.

Yelp
The bbq is on point, this is a family own business, costumer services is very friendly, the food is delicious I decided to order a little bit of everything, oh and they got the best made in house horchata.

Yelp
Got the Brisket and I will say they are doing it the right way , low and slow. Some of the best and juiciest I have tasted

Yelp
This place was bustlin'! We arrived at 1pm on a Sunday and almost every bench was filled outside (except the ones in the direct, raging sun), and the line was about 8 deep inside to order. - The big Texan burrito: They were out of sausage so we got a little more brisket than usual. The mac and cheese coupled with the brisket made this burrito a little too rich and heavy. I could only finish a quarter of it. It needed some sort of acid to balance out the richness: perhaps the pickled onions they have for their sandwiches would be a good addition to the burrito. - Pork ribs: They were so tender they fell off the bone. Only a few ends were left when we ordered, so the lady gave it to us for free. That was sweet of her! - Potato salad: Sweet, tangy and creamy. This was my favorite side. - Jalapeño cheese grits: Meh. - Iced coffee ($6): Perfect on an almost triple digit day. I think they put cinnamon in it too. Nice! Outdoor dining only. No restrooms. The picnic tables outside were dirty. Wet naps would be appreciated too, as it got pretty greasy and messy in a hurry. Pro tip: Many customers had phoned in their orders ahead of time, so they were able to skip the line and also probably scored the items that were already sold out: the pulled pork, coleslaw, sausage, baked beans! Also, make sure to ask for BBQ sauce! We'd like to return on Saturday to try their beef ribs.

Yelp
**2.5 stars** We were in the area mulberry and cherry picking, looking for somewhere to grab some lunch and this place seemed to have pretty good reviews. We ordered the sausage which was actually pretty good and the brisket which was a little on the dry side. I also was not impressed with the potato salad. Overall, the food was just average, if you're hungry it will do. They have a vast menu of drinks, however, we were told all they can serve is canned sodas because they don't have anyone to make the drinks on their drink menu. They have a bathroom, but won't let customers use it. It was open and we were washing our hands and a guy comes running into the bathroom telling us it was not for customers and that we would have to go to the gas station a few blocks down. There was only one person serving food, so the line was long. When I asked the server what was in the banana pudding, she said we make it here, but I don't know what is in it. For people with any dietary restrictions, I would avoid this place, since they don't know the ingredients they use in their food. Not the greatest food or experience.

Yelp
Best bbq spot in the Bay Area hands down. It's a small hole in the wall but the brisket is guaranteed the juiciest and most every time. I also love all their sides and highly recommend the Mac n cheese, potato salad and grits. Beef ribs sell quick on Saturday (before 1pm) so that's the only down side. The other thing is they're only open 3 days a week and don't do pickup orders over the phone.

Yelp
They recently added DoorDash so I thought I would give them a try. Keep in mind that if you don't see a particular meat available it could mean it is sold out for the day. I was reluctant at first to DoorDash because I am in Brentwood and they are in Byron. I thought it might take too long or the food wouldn't be hot or bread soggy. Nope. I ordered and it came fast. It was fast and hot still. In fact, it was delivered faster than some local restaurants. The food...Spareribs are big. I got three bigs ones and they had a lot of meat. I could only eat one. The rub is good and the meat just falls off the bone and is so moist. I like that the BBQ sauce is on the side because I can decide how much to put on. It actually is good without any but I liked to layer a little. The jalapeño cheese sausage is big and packed with flavor. The brisket I selected moist style and it was that for sure. Very juicy and tasty. The coleslaw is sweet and tangy and not too milky. The brisket sandwich came without being soggy because they put the pickles and coleslaw on the side. All of it is very good. All the meat was juicy and flavorful. My family loved it. Brisket Sandwich Jalapeño Cheddar Sausage Pork Ribs BBQ Rib

Yelp
We always travel this road and we spontaneously stop by this place every so often to try new meat and every single thing that we have tried is AMAZING. From the brisket to the sausage it's sooooooo good!! Definitely worth the stop!!

Yelp
Okay, I'm in my 50s and I swear that their cheddar jalapeño sausages might be the best G.D. sausage I've ever eaten in my life. I'm not even kidding around here, they're so absurdly delicious that I couldn't stop thinking about them for a week after I bought some. My only regret is that we didn't try buying the sausage until our third visit to their location. I can't even begin to describe how amazing they taste except I never knew something could be that delicious. How I made it this far in my life without ever trying sausage this good is beyond my comprehension, but I have German ancestry so this is by far from the first sausage I've ever eaten before. Mind. Blown.

Yelp
Although I've lived on the back side of the East Bay Hills for a number of years, I just recently heard about Taste of Texas Barbecue. TTB is located in Byron so it wasn't close by but well worth the drive. The pricing is interesting. The meats are priced by the half pound but you will easily eat more than a half pound. I wanted a taste of everything so I ordered a half pound of bbq pork ribs. Three small ribs came out closer to 3/4 of a lb of ribs. A friend and I drove out on a Sunday. Apparently they only make Beef Ribs on Saturday. They had three Dino beef ribs available so I was able to score a good sized beef rib for $29 which is the going price at most bbq restaurants. I also ordered juicy beef brisket (you can order lean or juicy), Mac and cheese, bbq rice (which has brisket) and potato salad. The beef rib was my favorite, it was tender, juicy and meaty. The pork ribs came in second, good flavor, tender but not a lot of meat. The brisket was very tender, good flavor but a bit salty the first day. I made brisket sliders the next day and the saltiness abated a bit, tasted really good as a slider. I like the Mac and cheese, a little great tasting gooiness, excellent flavor and cooked just right. My family loved the potato salad. I like Best Foods but the family was fine with Miracle Whip. The bbq rice had a strong smoke flavor so we'll skip that on our next trip. The bbq sauce was okay. I ended using Kinder sauce that I had. I spent about $100 to get an assortment of meats and side dishes. My friend spent about $160 for a slab of pork ribs, a good sized piece of brisket and a quart of mac and cheese. I will definitely go again for the beef ribs, pork ribs and try the beef sausage and/or the tri-tip. I will definitely get the Mac and cheese for me and potato salad for my family. There is no bathroom so take care of business before you head out. The restaurant is out by itself. There is a gas station down the road and downtown Byron is maybe 5 minutes up the road. Taste of Texas is definitely one of the better BBQ restaurants in the East Bay. Make the drive for good BBQ meats. I'm going to do another road trip to TTB.

Sabrina C.

Yelp
I think this is the worst bbq I've ever had. The pulled pork was dry and had no flavor. The bbq sauce tasted like A1 with ketchup. No bathroom available. However the staff was nice

Yelp
Born n raised in the area, never heard of this place. I was told I should give them a try. Came In early Sunday, I needed a lunch meal for family on Monday (holiday). So my thought was a couple slabs of meat. Service was very friendly. My friend placed his order first. The beef ribs looked Great, while the waitress was cutting a rib for him, I asked for one for me, but she indicated she would cut mine later, so not to confuse the orders. I thought she could cut it and just set it aside. He was at the end of his order. Not an issue, but I ended up forgetting to ask again for a beef rib - did not get to try one. My turn, I ordered a full slab of Pork Ribs, and a slab of brisket. Our mistake - as we were looking for a smaller slab of brisket, the piece I got was on the thinner side. As we prefer more moist meat, I should have gone for a thicker cut. I also got the MAC & cheese. On Sunday, 350degree oven. I poured some beef broth on both slabs, tightly wrapped in foil. 30 minutes to reheat. Careful not to overheat. This place uses a DRY RUB, The ribs were very moist, cooked to "falling off the bone". I used my meat slicer to cut the brisket thin for sandwiches, IMO the meat was on the dry side not juicy at all. If sliced too thick it crumbled so I went for thinner slices. Flavor was good (a bit too salty for my wife). Overall a successful family lunch, brisket sandwiches with homegrown tomatoes, lettuce, red onion, red bell pepper were a hit. I will return to try the beef rib and possibly give a thicker piece of brisket a try.

Yelp
I have driven pass this placed often but just never had the time to stop, it's literally in the middle of nowhere on backroad between Byron and Tracy....Mt. house. On a hot Saturday afternoon I kept seeing all these pop up bbq spots on the way home and the craving for a bbq rib just caused me to pull over and try this place. There is no inside dining area just outside covered patio and in this 106 degree Central Valley heat that was a no go. It was about 2pm and the service and ambiance, vibe of this family ran business was very cool. I ordered an orchata drink but they were out of everything I wanted, which was a great sign. Ended up getting pork ribs and potato salad. Potato salad was amazing and the ribs where perfectly cooked and fall of the bone tender but with some texture. The sauce in the side was a bit to sweet for me but this was a good find. Simply wrapped in butcher paper and I ate in my car with AC blasting.... Really wanted to try the beef ribs and brisket......next time...

Yelp
I finally stopped by here after driving by it a few times and I'm glad I did. I had their brisket and ribs which were both amazing! Not too many places in the area can match their bbq. Service was excellent staff was very friendly!

Yelp
We have passed by many times and finally got a chance to stop by. Great little spot to get some amazing bbq! Staff is very friendly and made sure we kept cool outside with their evaporative cooler outside.

Yelp
Beef ribs. Holy cats. We ate 2 beef ribs and they were the best thing I've eaten all month. My guy said that next time we could share one rib but I don't think so. Do yourself a favor and get there early on Saturday and treat yourself.

Sal R.

Yelp
First off walked up all workers just sitting around and when I walked up to counter noticed extremely dirty cutting board and scale just dripping and chunks of leftover meat. (That's when I should have left) I looked at menu and ordered 4 slices of brisket and 4 ribs, side of beans and potato salad for a whopping $75. I don't mind paying for good food/service but their was neither. Ribs were flavorless and so overcooked, brisket was so fatty/grissley, beans were hard and potato salad was gross. Came here when it first opened and was not pleased, decided to give it a second chance years later and had this experience. Never coming back.

Meme M.

Yelp
Brisket is tender but fat could be rinder more. Great flavor and bark on brisket. Pull pork juicy nice smoke flavor. Jalapeño cheese sausage EXCELLENT Cheese grits Excellent Beans Good They have tables outside patio if you and your family want to eat there. Very friendly welcoming.
google avatar

Verna K.

Yelp
Overall, great smoke flavor in the meets; tried the combo with 3 meats and they literally will stick to the measurement advertised, so I received 1 rib, pulled pork and tritip - pulled pork was the favorite, it didn't need a sauce, tritip was good, nice fatty piece and smoke. I do need to come in on a Saturday to try that beef rib!
google avatar

Neng H.

Yelp
Man Idky so many people have 1 star reviews. I was greated with a warm smile. Dropped by again on a random Saturday at 3pm. Brisket is awesome. Ribs were much much better this time. They were out of banana pudding. My only suggestion is to carry diet soda.

Yelp
The bbq here is so delicious I had to stop in on my way back to Stockton meat is cooked to perfection

Yelp
Amazing barbecue by far the best place in the Bay Area. If you want food for the holiday, make sure you order a week ahead of time.. This is our go to spot when we are in the area

Yelp
Yes Yes Yes ! This is one of the best BBQ places that I have been to in awhile. It is so authentic and really does give you a taste of Texas. I am so excited to return . I got the brisket , pulled pork , Mac & beans. AMAZING! the service was awesome they explained the menu and I believe the owner was super nice ! He was able to give us a fresh batch of beans . Go give this place some love and your money. They are so awesome !

Yelp
So happy we finally stopped by here and picked up a few sandwiches to go. The brisket sandwich was excellent. Comes with pickles and pickled onions, but I deleted the pickles. Very tasty bbq brisket. Also got the pulled pork sandwich. Also great. Same toppings as above and it was so great too. There's a bbq sauce dispenser so make sure you get a cup of bbq sauce for a little extra on the sandwich. We got the bbq rice which was so so good too. I didn't expect it to be as great as it was. Basically a fried rice with some brisket and sausage in it I believe. Tasted very smoky which I loved. Service was quick and friendly and very reasonable pricing. Simple menu. Only a few items to choose from which makes it easy. Nice place. Will have to go back to try the few things we didn't get and remember to take some pics next time. If you're traveling on Byron Highway in between Brentwood & Tracy, it's definitely worth the stop in on the days they're open.

Laura T.

Yelp
The food is amazing BUT..... Me and my family frequent this place often enough. About every other week. One day my kiddo really needed to use the bathroom. They wouldn't allow us to use it saying it wasn't available. I've never had an issue before but the lady in the front was kind of rude about it. I don't see the harm in allowing an 8 year old to use their restroom.
google avatar

Yelp
So I drive by thus place a lot because of work but it's never open. It's only open from Thursday to Sunday from 11 to 1. So I got a little bit of everything to try because I love bbq. Let's start off the brisket I think was the best there then the ribs they where good but a lot of pepper and seasoning on top and they where small. The sausage was ok kinda dry but maybe it's supposed to be like that who knows. The only thing I really don't like the weigh everything and it gets very costly. I only got 2 slices of brisket 3 ribs and 1 sausage it was 35 dollars. They service is pretty cut and dry and it has outside seating only but remember it's a busy road.

Miss B N.

Yelp
I used to love this place. They had the best brisket, ribs, and potato salad, and their customer service was top-notch. I've been a fan since their days at the Farmers Markets. Unfortunately, things have changed. The customer service has really gone downhill, and during my last visit, the potato salad was nowhere near as good as it used to be--seems like they've changed the recipe, and not for the better. I'm giving two stars because while the food was once great, the drop in customer service and quality is disappointing.

Steve B.

Yelp
What a waste of time and money. Food was horrible and sitting area is dusty and next to the road. Did I say the food was horrible.

Frank Z.

Yelp
Great BBQ, they have ribs, brisket, and lots more, ALL Delicious! Also have great sided of all kinds - beans, slaw, etc, etc ALL Delicious as well ! Enjoy

Yelp
I just stopped in here when they were about to close. I got Brisket and Cheddar Jalapeno Sausage. I have to say this was delicious. I've always wanted to stop by and never made it. I would recommend this BBQ to anyone who loves real Texas BBQ. Thank you for the wonderful food. I can't wait to go back.

Yelp
The lady worker and the owner are extremely rude!! I have a 6 lb service dog that was in my arms (I make sure he is very benign when we are in public) & I was just going to order my food really quick and then step outside (they have outside seating). The lady worker in the front said theres no dogs allowed in here. I said he is a service dog, so she said, "Okay." Then the owner came in, and the wind blew in from him opening the door. Then he said, "Oh, the winds blowing and the foods there." The wind was blowing on everyone when he opened the door. What does that mean? The probability of my hair blowing on the food is much greater than my six pounder. They were out of spareribs (what barbecue place is out of spare ribs), and the mac and cheese was going to take five min. I know you can't make fresh mac and cheese in five minutes. Also, they just sent my friend outside with no napkins and didn't even ask if he wanted any BBQ sauce for the brisket. They just wrapped up the brisket in paper and sent him on his way. These people are very unprofessional and very unhappy. I would save your money and go to another barbecue place that offers all of their menu items not just part of their menu items. Oh, and four slices of brisket and a pint of potatoe salad was $44.00 (too expensive in my book).

Yelp
The best bbq, worth the drive out to Byron and definitely the wait. We had brisket and ribs then tried all the sides except the Mac n cheese (get there early to get, they run out). It was amazing!!!

Yelp
The best BBQ I've had in a really long time. Brisket: 10/10 Moist and so easily pulled apart. Pulled pork: 10/10 Thank you for not making dry pulled pork. Moist. Spare ribs: 10/10 The rub OMG so good! Beef sausage: 10/10 Flavorful Jalapeño Sausage: 10/10 Good heat to it. Potato salad:10/10 Potato salad without olives, thank you! Mac n cheese: 10/10 Not sure what type of cheeses they used but it was delicious and creamy. Cole slaw:10/10 I'm not a fan of cole slaw but I'd eat this as a salad on its own. Sweet not vinegary. Rice: Sooo flavorful little bits of brisket mixed in. Great way to use up everything. Beans:10/10 Not what I expected in a good way. Perfect blend of savory with a hint of sweetness . Grits: 9/10 First time having grits and was not disappointed. Minus one star only because I have nothing to compare it too. The Bbq sauce is pretty good but you really don't need it because the meat speaks for itself.

Yelp
Best Meat to order: Beef Rib. 5/5. Fattier, juicier than the brisket. Once you eat the meat off the beef rib, you won't want to eat the brisket. Only downside is that it comes bone-in so you're paying for the weight of the giant bone too. Brisket - tasty until you try the beef rib. 4/5. Would skip brisket next time and just order the beef ribs since they have the same flavor profile. BBQ Sauce: very sweet. They don't have a spicy version or sour version. 2.5/5. Potato salad: 4/5. Must order because the sourness balances out the sweetness of the bbq sauce. Jalapeño cheese grits: 3.5/5. Nice to have some blander carbs to pair with the meat. Not spicy at all. A bit runny and mushy. Beans: 2/5 meh. Could have skipped.

Yelp
So... Food is absolutely delicious, cooked fresh and potato salad may be better than mom's. Don't tell her. BBQ rice is ridiculously good. This is worth a stop if you're hungry and in the area... However the girl at the counter needs to grow a personality and a sense of customer service. We walked in and seemed to interrupt her day. Greeted her with hello and she didn't respond, but merely waddled to the cutting board. Nothing about her whatsoever was welcoming. Secondly after we spent $$ and a tip on lunch for 4, telling my wife "we don't have a bathroom available" in the middle of nowhere is a freakin lie. Girl you're not squatting in the dirt out back. Take care of your customers and let someone with a personality work the counter.

Yelp
Really Really Great BBQ! Some very tender and tasty cuts and from the texture and taste, they make their own links!!! Brisket comes lean or fatty you can ask. Sauce is great so are all the sides! I'm not much of a pulled pork fan but there's is so tender. Will definitely be coming back I'll be a regular for sure...only thing is, for my taste, run could use a little less salt Still...Supergood!!!

Yelp

Yelp
I have been here a few times, it's alright. Pretty expensive. I went in Saturday for some beef ribs and while I was waiting at the counter for my order, a lady came out from the back and asked me "how's your heart". I told her I was fine, then she started in with the preaching of the lord. Asking if I went to church and such. I tried to ignore her but she just kept going. I finally had to interrupt her to ask the person behind the counter how much do I owe you. It was forty two dollars for one BIG rib. I gave her sixty and she only gave me back fifteen dollars. I don't need someone preaching at me, especially out of the blue while I'm stuck there waiting for my order. Then not to get my correct change back adds up to me not coming back.

Yelp
Had to take a trip to Byron Hwy to pick up our motorhome. I remembered a friend suggested this place. Definitely a family business feel. Meat is weighed. Everything we had was delicious. No complaints. Beef ribs only on Sat. My guy said the bbq rice was hella good. Sides were good portions. The drinks were delicious. Prices were a little high but sooo worth it. Worth the trip. Benches to eat outside to enjoy the food and weather.

Yelp
Family showed up to try great bbq in our area. The food looked great when they pulled it out to cut it however the cutting board was very dirty along with the scale they weighed the meat on. We ordered a little bit of everything and it tasted great, however later that day my wife and I got extremely sick and had food poisoning. After thinking back, we realized that the lady cutting our meats never cleaned the cutting board nor the scale. Please start using butcher paper and clean the cutting surfaces. Bacteria grows quickly.
