Everything I Know About Running Restaurants, I Learned From My Mom | Bon Appétit

"A Chinese restaurant the chef’s mother ran after a previous job closed; although technically Chinese, she adapted dishes by adding fish sauce and funkier, more Laotian flavors, reflecting how Laotian cooks modified familiar Thai/Chinese menus to suit both their tastes and local expectations." - ByDonny Sirisavath, as told to Hilary Cadigan

Bland asian food. It's just salt and peppered, no unique amazing flavor or any other added ingredients. Way too salty, not well seasoned. Sorry but this ain't your good hmong food place made with love. Any gathering hmong food taste better than this lol

Was there for a conference. Didn't get to try food but bought beer. $75 for a case of Corona seems expensive but I've seen it at this price before. Bought a case to share with friends and service was good.

If you’re thinking about this place...don’t. I didn’t expect much but when almost everything on the menu is out and the only thing to order is dried meat and cold rice I have a problem. Yeah I went back thinking it was just that day, no more. Do yourself a favor and cook at home it’ll be ten times better trust me. The straw that broke the camels back was being handed a can of Pepsi.

Like a previous poster stated the smell of rotten meat is very nauseating. The chopsticks on the table was dirty the tea looked cloudy and speed rank.. Service has horribly slow so I informed the waitress I was leaving and the owner a lady camd out and tried to make me pay she has So hateful. There hardly any business and I can see why. Nauseating smell, nasty utensils, rude staff Do yourself a favor avoid this place

Yelp
I'm loving the "to go" hot bar at Taste of Orient. It's quite convenient to stop in and grab lunch without having to wait. The purple sticky rice is always hot and pairs well with laab, fried chicken, and more. The prices are competitive with other restaurants in the area. The owners are great people.

Yelp
If you can give a negative I would. I attended an event. All night I entered and exited multiple times for a smoke break. Towards the end of the evening (10:30pm), I needed to take another smoke break. At this particular time, a male employee informed me that there is an re-entry fee. I asked him why. He shrugged and replied, "You can ask the owner." Pointing at her. So I reconfirmed with her. She started making excuses. 1. Due to capacity. If you leave you must pay a reentry fee of $20. 2. She didn't like the traffic from the entrance. 3. For the saftey of her of everyone. Please just stay and not smoke no more. They will be closing in 2 hrs anyway. I asked, "If they are not letting customers out, is it ok for me to smoke inside." To which she responded, that they will kick me out of I did. At this point I was getting heated. I decided if an establishment wanted to just make up rules as the night went on. They don't deserve my business. I gladly left the event. I feel if they had a designated smoking area to allow smoking customers traffic in and out of their establishments. There wouldn't have been any negative disagreements with customers. Which also would resolve her "in and out" traffic at the entrance. If she was really looking for the saftey of her customers. She needs to hire security and check customer coming in. Also, if she wanted to make any kind of changes to her event while it was going on. She should make an annoucement, if not post ot somewhere. Yet making rules along the way is very unprofessional. All in all this money hungry owner doesn't give any care in the world about anyone but her selfish greedy self.

Yelp
I came here during Sunday after church with my family and the food is blend here. Definitely not worth the money. I rather cook at home if I eat here...

Yelp
Pho is chicken based with beef paste thrown in. Very fatty and oily. Sweet tea has a twang. Used near dead vegetables in their spring rolls (cilantro was yellow and basil was dark and wilted). Also their spring rolls still had water in its shell when it was rolled. Lo mein is okay. Their sweet pork is the only thing that is isnt available anywhere else. Usually get it about once a week to go, and the only thing i recommend. Would only come back for the sweet pork. Edit: took 5 mins for them to realize i was there, 30 minutes to serve an appetizer, 15 minutes extra to serve food.

Yelp
Heard about this place, but never actually been here.. I like to try different asian resturants, so decided to try out their food while in town.. Had their half Roast Duck Meal. Tasted Great or can I say Super Fkn Awesome.. Deff one of the best I've tasted. It's not like you can order duck at your local Micky D's or something... The Hmong Sausage was on point also, but then again, when is it not.. Spicy Hmong Sausage = Best If I'm hungry in Hickory, I'll be back again...
