"This recently opened corner spot near Portland State University, from the team behind Szechuan Garden in Beaverton, makes a great lunch spot. Light shines in from the massive windows onto one’s table, which is easy to fill with a variety of Chinese dumplings like Shanghai-style pork xiao long bao, steamed or fried potstickers, Szechuan wontons in chile oil, crab puffs, and wonton soup. If you can save room, the mapo tofu here is spectacular, as well." - Thom Hilton, Seiji Nanbu, Eater Staff

"Likely Portland’s best spot for mapo tofu, this Portland State University-area Chinese restaurant will be open for dine-in and takeout on Christmas Day, with myriad options worthy of a holiday dinner. Noodles here are hand-shaven, and entrees range from smoked duck to crawfish in a hot and spicy sauce. Plus, Tasty Corner has a nice range of Chinese American and Sichuan dishes, to please a wide variety of diners." - Rebecca Roland, Janey Wong

"This Portland State University Chinese restaurant is no longer under the radar, garnering the attention of people like Gary the Foodie and the Oregonian’s Michael Russell. Mapo tofu here is particularly special, cubes of jiggly bean curd in a tingly, savory sauce laden with chiles, ground pork, and salted black bean. Chonqing chicken is velveted within an inch of its life, tender and abundant with ground spice. Hand-shaven noodles arrive tossed in chile oil, and brick-red crawfish get a little dose of heat for fun. Those who prefer their General Tso’s and honey-walnut shrimp, Tasty Corner has those Chinese American classics covered." - Seiji Nanbu, Janey Wong, Rebecca Roland

Google
This was such a letdown. The menu looked promising so I decided to stop by and try the food. The restaurant itself is dirty but the staff was nice. I ordered the seafood noodle soup and was completely disappointed. It did not have any flavor. I tried adding spice and sauce but nothing helped. The seafood itself tasted spoiled, the shrimp were dirty, the veggies were wilted and brown and the noodles were old and just did not work with that type of soup. I do not recommend this place. There are many other Asian places around there....go there instead

Food is amazing! Please consider supporting this mom and pop's restaurant! I got the stir fried flat noodle with chicken and the shaking beef and passionfruit tea.

I was so hungry that I didn't take a photo to show what I ate, everything was very tasty and the attention was very, very kind. In the end they gave us the house tea (te de jasmin). I will definitely come back to this place.

The place is not crowded when you go early. I went with my family and got a Fish hotpot soup but the fish is less. The owner is very nice and friendly with it’s us.

One day I ordered shrimp lomein for the first time. Upon entering the restaurant there was a man and he didn’t ask me what I want. Instead he just stared at me. No hi or hello. However the lomein was overcooked and saggy plus the charged me almost twenty dollars. That was the fir and last time I ordered food from this terrible restaurant. This was a few months ago I went to this same restaurant. I ordered a shrimp lomein with and paid five dollars for extra shrimps. I got like ten shrimps with saggy noodles.

Let get the info out of the way. I order sesame chicken, sweet-and-sour chicken, veggie fried rice. Spring rolls, egg rolls. Totaled to $58. Order around 9pm. Which some would consider late but this place stay open till 1am. The good. Fresh ingredients. The veggies, and spring rolls were very fresh. I would say that everything was properly cooked. The bad. No flavor very little flavor. I had to add more seasonings when I got home. Smothered the sesame chicken and sweet-and-sour chicken and some duck sauce to add flavor. The peanut sauce was also lacking in flavor for the spring rolls. The eggrolls were soggy and also lacking in flavor. Thank god for the duck sauce. They told us it would take 20 minutes to prepare our food and when I arrive for pickup an additional 30 minutes before I had my food. Over all I don’t understand the how these place has a 4.4 review. I do understand that maybe the more traditional food like hot pot or seafood might be better. I understand that I got typical basic Chinese-American options and this is technically of the Vietnamese restaurant. So if ur look for that Asian American taste don’t come here.

This was our first time visiting Tasty and we had a great time there. The food was spectacular with wonderful service. We had a complementary hot jasmine tea pot from the server. The place was cleaned, very nice decor, even the restroom was bright and cleaned too. Highly recommended!

Yelp
My family had lunch here and ordered our usual asparagus soup, fried cheese lobster, lotus leaf fried rice with crab, raw beef, frog legs and fried squid. Omg everything was so good!!!! Please consider supporting them, every time I come in they're not busy. They're the only place in town left that makes fried cheese lobster. It's my fav dish ever and I don't want them to go out of business. I need my fried cheese lobster!

Yelp
The food is okay, it use to be pretty good but now it's mediocre. The owner is super sweet and kind and they have a lot of food options. The owner told us that business wasn't really going well so now it's just him and his wife running the place but they were still in great spirits. I hope them all the best!

Yelp
Service was quick and food was really good. We're from garland and you know there's a lot of Chinese spot but this one definitely top 3. The inside was very clean they had a part of the restaurant for parties it was cool. I'll definitely be coming back!

Yelp
Best fried rice and so good seafood hotpot. Our server was very attentive and friendly. Will come back for sure.

Yelp
Just to be clear, this is NOT Tasty China. It is not a rebrand due to xenophobia as was mentioned in a previous Yelp review. This is a new owner with a completely different cuisine. We came in for Mother's Day lunch for 4 people, expecting to have family style Chinese/Asian food dining experience. But this is was definitely not the case. First thing we noticed when entering, the place is at 25% capacity. 4-5 tables of 5-6 diners . There are at least 3 others tables right next to us, empty with many leftover dishes that are not cleaned. This remained the case the entire time from when we entered and left. Upon entering, we were simply pointed to our table across the room. Sat down for about 10 minutes until our server came by with menus. We ordered 4 dishes: fish maw soup, snow pea leaves garlic, fried cheese lobster, and shaken beef. Unfortunately, they were out of lobsters... on a special occasion day for lunch. So we settled for cheese shrimp. We waited about 40 min for soup, and another 20-25 for the remaining dishes. Food wise, the fish maw soup was good and you can't go wrong with snow pea leaves with garlic. The shaken beef and cheese shrimp was lackluster. Cheese shrimp did not taste like cheese, just batter. The shaken beef was barely anything and you can get better elsewhere for much lower price. Both these dishes cost $16 and the bill total was $70 including tip. The portions sizes are very small. We are typically satisfied with 4 dishes at family style Chinese restaurants, but we left feeling hungry still. We spent about 2 hours there, we waited for 1.5 hours and ate in the remaining time. There wasn't much food so it went quick. For some reason, the new owners are trying to incorporate casual Vietnamese comfort food with family style Chinese/Asian food. If I wanted Vietnamese comfort food, I definitely would not expect it to be here lol. This probably due to the owners being Vietnamese as well. It is very confusing when ordering off the menu what kind of food they specialize in. I would suggest to stick with one or the other. The owners were repeatedly turning away dine in customers due to them being backed up. At least 3 parties of 4-6 people when the restaurant is barely even 25% capacity and they stopped taking to-go orders. The restaurant is family run, but it operates very poorly. 3 people total working in the front, 1 serving, 1 taking orders, 1 cashier. Tasty Asia really needs to improve because I don't not see this place succeeding continuing like this. And please just hire more staff to at least clean dirty tables... Would like to give them another chance, but only if they make some significant improvements. Very ill-prepared and severely understaffed for days of special occasion. There are plenty of better restaurant options in the area to be settling here. I honestly don't give many bad reviews, but this was a very poor experience for a family style Chinese/Vietnamese cuisine. I wish them the best of luck.

Yelp
The food was horrible. I had ordered orange chicken and egg rolls. The orange chicken was frozen chicken nuggets with sauce and the egg rolls were burnt. Bad experience.

Yelp
Went here for a late lunch. We had cheese encrusted lobster and spare ribs. Both were excellent. Service was excellent. The owner made sure we enjoyed our food and spoke to us for a while. Will definitely return. Highly recommend.

Yelp
This place serves great quality Vietnamese food and deserves a big nod! Everything is fresh and hotly prepared. The shaken beef melts in your mouth despite our request for well done. The orange chicken is superbly served with fresh orange slices and distinct orange flavor. Nice atmosphere with tables well spread out. The gentleman who helped us was very attentive. Terrific first impression, will be back and bring the whole family!

Yelp
Everything was delicious. We had wings and fish sauce, canh Chua with shrimp and thit kho with quail eggs. Amazing. I will be back for sure.

Yelp
Love the ca kho and canh chua from here. Very fresh and great quality! Definitely will be back to try other things!

Yelp
Unfortunately the food is NOT the same. My family and i use to come every Sunday for the famous TASTY CHINA!! Now we're definitely disappointed because the staff, food and customer service changed. WHERE CAN I FIND THE ORIGINALS ?!??!!!

Alex H.

Yelp
Went there for a togo with my grandfather a week ago. And we used to know it as "Tasty China" so had a tuff time looking for it online. But when we got there the owner/manager was super nice and helpful.

Yelp
Very friendly mom and pop shop! You can tell that they put all their love into their food and it makes it stand out from other places I've been too. Make sure to try out their Bun Bo Hue, which is a sort of beef noodle soup. Reminds me a lot of my mom's recipe and brings a lot of warmth to my heart when i try it!
