San Diego Restaurants Serving the Best Chinese Food | Eater San Diego

"Chinese restaurants from L.A. are increasingly branching out to San Diego, and Tasty Noodle House is one of them. This modest restaurant specializes in Shanghainese cuisine as well as scrumptious plates from other regions. The fish fillet and beef with spicy sauce are numbingly spicy and delicious and the Shanghai pan-fried pork buns topped with black sesame seeds are a must-try." - Helen I. Hwang

Where to Eat and Drink on Convoy Street

"This busy Shanghainese restaurant branched out from L.A. and quickly established itself as the place to dive into Shanghai grilled pork buns, ginger scallion beef with noodles, and beef in spicy sauce. Waits can be long but it’s worth it." - Helen I. Hwang

Good experience for first time. Got take out. The eggplant with pork is spicy which we were warned about and I loved it. The beef with scallion and garlic pepper sauce isn’t scallion but the sauce had a richer flavor flavor than expected which was enjoyable. Overall, very happy and will return. Just hope it’s consistent.

Before heading to San Diego Airport, I took my family to Tasty Noodle House around 4:00 PM for a quick bite. The food at this location is much better than the ones in Chino Hills and Irvine—flavorful and well-prepared. My kids loved it, making for a great dining experience before our flight. Highly recommend!

Google
Our Chinese friend took us here, and below is our group’s review. Dishes marked with asterisks are our all-time favorites: 1. *Ginger Scallion Beef: 7.7/10 Slender, juicy beef with great flavor. 2. Sausage Fried Rice: 6/10 If you like pork and sausage, this one's for you! 3. *Beef Chow Mein: 7/10 Great flavor, but the noodle texture could be better. 4. *Garlic String Beans: 8.5/10 Perfectly seasoned, though we'd prefer the string beans to be crispier. 5. Xiao Long Bao: 7/10 Big and thick, but not as fresh or juicy as we expected. 6. Garlic Broccoli: 7/10 Good overall, but we were hoping for Chinese broccoli. 7. Pork Buns: 9/10 Crispy bottom, perfectly cooked dough, seasoned with green scallions, and stuffed with pork—what’s not to love? 8. *Hunan-Style Lamb: 9.5/10 A must-try for spice lovers—heavenly! Pairs perfectly with the sausage fried rice. 9. Honey Walnut Shrimp: 7.5/10 Candied walnuts cooked to perfection, with jumbo shrimp that are tasty, though the sauce was a bit too sweet.

Google
First time here and the food was delicious. Cozy small place everything was super clean fast service. Lots of food for a very good prize one order can feed three people big portions Great place to share a meal ☺️

Google
Delicious Seafood pepper noodles and pumpkin pancake! We actually were going to the next door restaurant but saw quite a few people waiting outside this restaurant so we decided to try it. Most of the patrons were Asians. We just ordered what the next table had ordered which looked really good. That was a smart thing to do :-)

Google
We wanted to have some Xiao long BAO and came here. It was an absolutely stunning experience when we bite into those Xiao long BAO... Which we had this place 2 meals straight and we're extremely satisfied. Their buns series are just unbelievably delicious and amazing. The portions of their dishes are also humongous... I know many people gave bad reviews due to the service quality, but as per a Chinese restaurant, it really wasn't that bad. It's kind of the normal norm and average service. At least they served fast and attends to us quickly. Highly recommend to try their bun and bao series... So goooood!

Google
Food is good but pricing is not a casual one. We had a bad encounter with them involving personal discrimination. Our family of 4 saw a table of 6, the circular one, so I respectfully asked if we can sit there since I was pregnant and we do plan to buy many dishes to try. The female server with long hair and glasses said no because it was for bigger party, in a straight tone but I didn't mind. We got seated at the smaller table for 4 for less than 10 mins before that same server came to talk to the party of 4 next to us and offered them the table of 6. Like what? I'm sure we requested first but maybe she already had grudges. I thought maybe more ppl would join that party but no one else joined. I felt so disrespected. Don’t come here if you want to be treated with respect and courtesy. It’s not a theme in the restaurant.

I have been to this place twice and always leave wondering why I chose this place to eat it. The first time was just ok, but the second time was the more lackluster of a trip. I went in with my boyfriend around 6PM and got seated right away despite it being a full house. Service was fine and quick, ordered fast while the food came out even faster. I got the shrimp chow mein, apple slush, and egg rolls while my boyfriend got the spicy beef chow mein. The chow mein came out faster than the egg rolls, being around 10 minutes after ordering which I found suspicious. Shouldn't the chow mein take longer to cook? Well, the texture was extremely chewy and the noodles were stuck together like a blob of glue. My boyfriend made a comment that they must make a huge batch of chow mein and just take from the pile to serve to the customers which is probably not too far fetched of an idea. Apple slush was yummy and the egg rolls were subpar. They were served hot, but the inside tasted like slime. I wouldn't pay to get that again. My chow mein lacked flavor and the few shrimp that was on there were small. Overall, I would not come back here for authentic chinese food.

Yelp
This place is fantastic, so good in fact that I took no pictures of the food we ordered. For four of us we got, chicken chow mein, combo fried rice, garlic sauce eggplant with shredded pork, kung pao chicken, and chive and pork dumplings. The best was the eggplant, quite literally the best thing I've ever put in my mouth, so flavorful. The dumplings were solid, but a little underwhelming. The chow mein was perfect, honestly a classic. It took about 10 minutes to be seated, but as the night went on it looked like it was taking longer. We ordered and food came out not even 5 minutes later, so quick and so hot. The place is loud, and small, but the food is so worth it. I would love to come back at lunch or on a week night when it may be less busy.

Yelp
Tasty Noodle House was not busy on a Saturday late afternoon, as we were quickly directed to a table and given menus to view. However, the restaurant is located on a small plaza filled with many other restaurants, causing heavy parking traffic. It was very difficult to find parking. Ordered the shrimp and chicken lo mein and the Shanghai pork buns. The lo mein was overly salted and tastes only of soy sauce. There was very few shrimp as well. The Shanghai pork buns were burnt om the bottom and took around 25 minutes to come out. By then, my group and I were about finished eating. There was little to no soup in the buns and I could not finish the plate. Foe the quality of the food and parking situation, I would not visit again.

Yelp
Pretty brutal. I couldnt finish my meal because it had wayyyyy too much bones and cartlidge. Now I love traditional food, but damn, felt like I was having Chinese food in China. I ordered the Orange Chicken, Sweet and Sour Pork, Pineapple Fried Rice for 4 of us. The quantity was good. The rice was ok. The Orange Chicken and S&S Pork was rough. We were all being too cautious of breaking our teeth after every bite had bones. When we didnt bite into a bone, we definitly got cartlidge. Not sure if this is too traditional, but Im never ordering from here again. Too many other good Chinese restraurant. To be honest, I wish we ordered Panda Express over this and I would have saved $30.

Yelp
11-30-24 -Ground beef tofu soup $12.50-mushroom, carrots, peas and leeks were all fresh ingredients. The soup was pipping hot to the end of our meal. Very flavorful. I added vinegar and chili from the jar on the table. It was a perfect combo, tasted even better than hot and sour soup. -House pungent fish $15.50- not sure what the pungent was but it gave the dish a complex taste of umami. Loved it! Mushroom gave the crunchy texture to the dish. -Rice $1- perfectly cooked! Service: 4/5 They brought everything we asked for in a timely manner. We really enjoyed our experience here. One of the best places to get Chinese food in San Diego!

Yelp
Tasty noodle house is a go to staple for consistent and yummy Shanghainese style food. Service is super fast and it got pretty crowded around 6pm on a Monday night. We got the pan grilled Shanghai pork buns (a must!), seafood chow mein in black bean sauce, ma pao tofu, hunan style lamb, and green onion pancake. The chow mein is solid in flavor and has a good amount of fish, scallops, and squid. The ma pao tofu and hunan lamb were first timers for this trip. The soft tofu had a good mala spice to it and the portion was huge. The lamb was delicious, not really spicy, but had great flavor. I think the only thing I would skip on are the green onion pancake. They're a bit different from others I've had, more on the thick doughy side and really greasy compared to the lighter flakier ones I've had at other places. Overall, great portions, good food!

Yelp
The beef noodle soup was definitely the highlight here! The egg is runny also! The service was amazing! There are only 3 small tables, the rest of the seating was counter which would have been difficult for us since I have a 4 year old but luckily we were able to get a table. I wouldn't recommend the minced pork rice it was extremely salty!

Yelp
Came here on a Sunday afternoon with a friend. It was both our first time and our experience was great! This place is small but it's packed and it always seems to be every time I come for taco stand next door. But service was still excellent. They were attentive and serve the food very quickly. All the dishes were super tasty and the portions were very generous. Would definitely come back here.

Yelp
Don't go here on a holiday. We came here on Christmas Day 2024. We were seated promptly. Our server seemed to be new and inexperienced. We were seated for 15 minutes before he took our order. It took another 20 minutes before food started being delivered to our table. We never received our pork&chive dumplings. When we asked about it he seemed surprised that we didn't get it. After another 15 minutes of waiting we asked him again about the dumplings. He then went to re order it. We had seen an order of the same dumplings delivered to another table 30 minutes prior but we thought oh they also ordered those dumplings. We now think that our dumplings were delivered to that other table. Anyway the food is good, like always, however the service today was pretty bad. Yes it's Christmas Day and yes they were busy. But we wanted those dumplings!!

Yelp
My #1 recommendation for Chinese food in the area! I've been coming here for years and it keeps getting better. The service is fast and always so nice. The portions are huge with a great price and the food always comes out so hot and fast. I visit during off-hours but during the weekend/dinner it is always super busy with a wait. I always order the Chicken or Chicken/Shrimp Chow Mein. The flavor of the sauce is probably one of the best chow meins that I've had. A must order is the Taiwanese chicken!!! The flavors in here are insanely fragrant as there are large chunks of garlic and ginger included in the stir fry. The texture and flavor of the chicken is always amazing and this is my go-to dish. I took my husband here, who was raised in China, and he loved it! He found authentic menu items that he hasn't seen in other places and enjoys this place too.
google avatar

Ruffa G.

Yelp
Service is good, staff are friendly and, service is fast . The Xiaolongbao was good. We like the filling of the fried pork bun. The The bun itself-we had better ones. The Kung Pao Chicken is okay- needs a little improvement to taste better. The House Chowmein is ordinary and Braised Pork Belly - we liked the tender pork belly but not the bed of mushy veggies. Not for us!
google avatar

Jessica D.

Yelp
Parking is always tough for this plaza but the food makes it worth it! Perfect to eat family style and their menu offers a lot ranging from dim sum to noodles. Their green beans are to die for!! Servers were so nice and the food came out really fast.
google avatar

Yelp
THE place to go for legit Chinese food! They are constantly busy with a steady stream of customers, so you know you're in the right place. As a Chinese person who is incredibly picky and judgmental about Chinese food, this gets my legitimacy stamp of approval, lol. My favorite is the beef noodle soup, which is spicy and hearty, with sour pickled veggies that you can choose to eat or not eat (they don't affect the flavor of the broth or noodles). Staff are welcoming and friendly and the restaurant is always inviting. Check this place out!
google avatar

Yelp
The taste, portions, and pricing here is great! That says a lot coming from my mom who is generally hard to please lol. Parking lot is crazy packed. Don't forget to put your name down on their waitlist. Wait time to eat here looked long but surprisingly my mom and I only had to wait about 15 minutes on a Sunday night during dinner time. It's quite hectic inside the restaurant, staff yelling but that's the norm at any Chinese restaurant. They have an extensive menu selection. We ordered the shanghai pan grilled pan fried pork buns (8pcs), xlb with pork (8pcs), shrimp & pork wonton soup. The pan fried pork buns were huge! Lots of soup and it held up nicely when biting into it. The XLB wasn't the best that I've ever had but it was decent. I liked the shrimp and pork wonton soup. There were so many wontons in there. Don't forget to add some sambal oelek cause it was definitely missing some spice. Overall, great spot for dinner and will have you leaving full!

Yelp
I really enjoy coming here for Chinese food. Super tasty and flavorful. If you go during the weekday or less busy times, they are super quick with the food! Love the eggplant dish, green onion scallion pancake, cumin lamb, and xiao long bao. Parking sucks here, so you may need to circle around the block (and even further)
google avatar

Abby W.

Yelp
I'll be the first to admit that I'm a picky eater but I also love a good Chinese noodle dish so I was more than happy with my basic lo mein. I got the chicken and beef combo and the noodles were wonderful. With a name like noodle house, I figured the noodles were a good way to go too. My friends all enjoyed their more adventurous food items as well.
google avatar

Kerrie L.

Yelp
Great service. Wheelchair accessible. Very clean. The portions are shareable which made our udon w king pao beef very affordable. It fed two people for under 40$. With 20% tip, one coke and a side of rice which i did not need, it came to 42$. Parking is a little rough because this asian food mall is very busy. Good sign. We will definitely go back. Highly recommend.
google avatar

Joe C.

Yelp
The worst noodle dish in my life. I ordered the chicken and shrimp stir fried noodles and they were awful. I ordered delivery and the noodles arrived cold. The shrimp consisted of five tiny shrimp about an inch across. The chicken portion was meager at best and were tiny nuggets that had to be fished out of the massive lump of super greasy thin egg noodles. What a disappointment.
google avatar

Mazy B.

Yelp
Love this place. It's small, but incredible food. Go tos are the xio long bao (soup dumplings), honey walnut shrimp (crispy & saucy), Shanghai bao buns (pan toasted), cucumber salad (very refreshing w/ cilantro), dumplings, and much more. Overall, have never had a bad dish there. It's family style, so shareable between 2 or 3 people no problem. Very fresh & hot food, good service w/ nice staff. The parking lot is a pill, and the shopping center is very crowded, so there can be quite a waitlist, but well worth it.
google avatar

Josue V.

Yelp
I will die on the hill that Tasty Noodle House offers equally-as-delicious food as Din Tai Fung at a drastically lower price point. Must order - Shanghai style thin noodles, grilled pork buns, Beef Brisket Noodle soup, Beef & Scallion w/ Black Pepper Sauce, Lamb in Cumin Sauce, Pan-Fried String Beans w/ Pork & Dried Shrimp, and Shanghai Sticky Rice Shiu-Mai With Pork If that seems like a lot of must-haves it's because this place HITS. I've been coming for years, and I have yet to eaten a dish that didn't taste delicious. The food will always come out QUICKLY and FRESH. I'm talking like two minutes max and food is at your table - regardless of how busy this place can get. I will be honest and say parking in this lot is a nightmare. Imagine a nightmare and then make it worse. But this place is always so worth it that I park 6-8 walking distance away in the area toward where the MTS busses park. You'll find parking if you're willing to walk. 5/5! I love this place : D
google avatar

Anna E.

Yelp
The pork buns are massive and absolutely delicious! I didn't like them on the past from different places but Tasty Noodle House has convinced me they can actually be divine. They also taste great reheated as a leftover
google avatar

Sam A.

Yelp
I always see this place packed it is truly a great restaurant. I no matter what have to order their garlic green beans, too much garlic isn't really a thing. I really like their dumplings and wontons!! I would say their skin is pretty thin, and there is absolutely no lack in filling, and I like dumplings that way! Their Xiao long bao are juicy, but not on a soup level, which is one of the things that bums me, but whenever I do try something other than dumplings it does not disappoint! Staff know how to operate their successful restaurant. The restaurant's space is big enough so the wait isn't the worst, and seating will open up sooner or later.
google avatar

Yelp
Me and my coworkers went for lunch and had a mixed experience. I ordered the Chicken Fried Rice, while my coworkers got the Spicy Fish Noodle Soup and Chicken Chow Mein. I was excited to try the Sichuan Spicy Chicken Wings that I saw on the online menu, but unfortunately, they weren't available in the physical menu or when I asked about it. I stuck with the Chicken Fried Rice, but asked if they could prepare it with more "wok hay". Unfortunately, there was a bit of a language barrier, and they didn't seem to understand my request. I should have picked something else, but I went ahead with the order. The Fried Rice turned out to be super bland--lacking not only the wok hay I was hoping for but also basic seasoning. The chicken was juicy, but unfortunately tasteless, and it even lacked salt. However, I did get to try my coworker's dishes, and the Chicken Chow Mein was absolutely fantastic--full of flavor, perfectly cooked, and just the perfect amount of flavors. It was the highlight of the meal! The Spicy Fish Noodle Soup was also quite good. Despite the disappointment with the Fried Rice, I'm giving four stars because of how great the Chicken Chow Mein was. I'll definitely be coming back for that! Sorry, no photos of the Chicken Chow Mein--it was too good to wait!

Yelp
If you're craving Din Tai Fung but without the crazy prices and long wait then I highly recommend coming to check out Tasty noodle house as they practically sell a lot of similar items. I came with a party of 5 and we all shared several dishes. I like how big their portions are here especially the dumplings. My favorite were the pan fried dumplings. The green beans were also excellent. A lot of people rave about the noodles but personally I wasn't that blown away by them. Overall, I enjoyed my meal and how fast the service was. The downside is that it is located in probably the worst plaza in convoy for parking. Most likely you'll have to park on the street down the block but it's worth it!
google avatar

Carolyn W.

Yelp
Very good noodles for any noodle fans! All the dishes were delicious, and they had good meat portions and portion sizes. The beef noodle soup is on the spicier end, but I really liked the rich broth. The house seafood noodle has a light savory flavor but is not super flavorful (I didn't mind it, but my husband wasn't the biggest fan). The xiao long bao was pretty good. It's not the best but still good. They get extra points for being generous with the sizing and 8 pcs. It's a busy place, especially on a weekday, but there is plenty of seating. Service is fast and efficient. There is free parking in the lot, but it's a tight plaza. However, there is also ample street parking on the side.
google avatar

Ray K.

Yelp
Food is sooo good! We had the pan fried dumplings and the honey walnut shrimp! Everything was delicious!

Yelp
Came here on a friday night to pick up my order. They were slammed with a good wait outside and I waited inside for my food as they were running behind on orders. Don't bother calling them because they didn't answer any of the 5 calls they got while I was there. One item we got was wrong was we ordered a noodle dish and to NOT come with the soup but it still did. I got the house sweet and sour pork and while it was tasty it was very time consuming to eat as almost every piece had bone in it and if it wasn't an easy big bone you could eat around and pull off it would be small pieces of bone that honestly would take too much time to get out so I couldn't enjoy my bite. We also got an orderof chive and pork dumplings and they were alright. Some were juicy and some were dry - if it didn't have any sauce on it, then it wasn't as flavorful as the others. They have a large menu so I'd be open to trying it again, but for the wait and price it may be put on the back burner of places to come back to.
google avatar

Brad D.

Yelp
Great spot! Had the Pork & Cabbage Potstickers--crispy, flavorful, and just right at $13.5. The Taiwanese Beef Roll was tender, wrapped in a delicious scallion pancake. The Mango Jasmine Iced Tea was refreshing and aromatic. The place is small and cozy, perfect for a quick, tasty meal. Chris, our server, was fantastic--super attentive and friendly. Definitely worth a visit!
google avatar

Anna H.

Yelp
Very yummy! Definitely get the green bean appetizer and the pork buns. Wonton soup seemed flavorless and kind of oily. Everything else was great! Service was fast and we walked right in. Parking is iffy but it's in Convoy, so you have to expect that. You'll probably have leftovers.
google avatar

Di K.

Yelp
Restaurant is clean, service is good. We have been here for a couple of times now. Pretty good Chinese food in San Diego county. Chow mein, pan fried pork buns, hot and sour soup, dumplings and the fish in the spicy sauce are our favorite. Beef stew noodles is good, but on the saltier side. The eggplant and mushrooms with basil is a bit too saucy to our liking. But we enjoyed the rest of the food we ordered. You won't go wrong with their noodles and dumpling dishes. Will definitely be back to try other dishes.
google avatar

Teonna W.

Yelp
Really disappointed on the customer service tonight. A tall boy with glasses walked in front of me as i was approaching my sister at the counter in the rudest way it's like I wasn't even walking. Then... he ignored my sister who was trying to order and later on stepped on her foot and didn't even apologize. When she said something he still didn't apologize. And I told the manager and he was right there feeling no guilt or sympathy.... Truly disgusting behavior from a server and we regret tipping. The manager heard me out but didn't have much to say. They need to work on customer service! Gross prejudice behavior

Yelp
Braised Pork Belly w/preserved veggies dish was $22, but portion so small, after I ate it with my little bowl of rice. Solo diner next to me ordered won ton and green onion pancake. When he was leaving, he asked me how I liked my fatty pork. I told him I was still hungry. He graciously gave me his leftover onion pancake that he had already boxed. He insisted I keep it. I took it home and put it in the toaster oven and it was delicious. But I was disappointed in my fatty pork. Then I went on another day with a Chinese friend and she ordered the won ton, too. She insisted it's different from the usual gringo won ton in American style Chinese restaurants. I ordered a very popular Noodle bowl but it was so unremarkable I don't remember what it was and couldn't pick it out again off the menu. See picture below. I guess I like Szechuan food. This food here is so expensive for what you get. Three stars. Probably not coming back. Too many other restaurants to try in the Convoy Street Chinese cultural center..
google avatar

Thuy N.

Yelp
The food here is decent. My favorite the eggplant and mushroom, the sauce makes it worth getting. The shanghai pan fried pork buns are average, it has soup inside it but it's a bit too doughy for my liking. The fried rice is good, but nothing too special. Their service could be better, the servers aren't super friendly. The restaurant is small so it doesn't have the best ambience. The parking lot is a nightmare..
google avatar

John C.

Yelp
Another real hit Chinese restaurant that was actually very delicious and not over packed with MSG or other fake flavor enhancers. Service was divine and I tried to order everything that was popular and looked good from other Yelp reviewers. Was pleased with almost everything that was ordered and also had many leftovers for days after. For sure will be back! It is so busy here so next time will try and get there earlier.

Yelp
Great food! Portions are large and price is reasonable. Everything tasted great. Pretty crowded, but the wait staff is very nice and friendly.
google avatar

Alexa M.

Yelp
Tasty noodle house is indeed tasty! Everything we tried was amazing and the food was served very quickly. There was a bit of a wait time to get seated but it's not surprising for a Saturday night in Convoy. The pork buns were so flavorful and good! We also tried one of the beef entrees and the beef literally melts in your mouth, it's so tender and good. They have a big menu so we'll have to come back another time to try more things :). This parking lot can be a bit stressful to find a spot in so I recommend driving up the street for parking instead. You'll appreciate taking a little walk after eating all this food anyways .

Yelp
This is my family's favorite Chinese restaurant in San Diego! The pan fried pork buns are a must get! They are perfectly crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. I wish they were as big as they were a few years back. The yeung chow fried rice has the right texture and it is not too oily or salty. The service is great and they let me get seated while waiting for the rest of my party to join. I will definitely be back and bring more friends to try it out! The ambiance is nice and casual, plenty of seating.

Yelp
We arrived at 9:05 p.m. expecting to be served, since Yelp and their own website states that it closes at 9:45 p.m. everyday. Apparently the kitchen closes at different times depending on the weekday without posting on Yelp or any other online platform. I politely suggested to the staff that they update their online hours and they just dismissed me. Gave it a one star, that I will update when they update their hours.

Stephanie G.

Yelp
Found this place by accident and i will now be a regular. This place is always busy, but the staff is friendly and quick to seat you. The bao buns and orange chicken are very good. I would recommend.

Yelp
Went with some friends and we were all left amazed. For the price and portions, this place is amazing. We ordered noodles which were perfectly chewy and the best garlic green beans ever. The spicy wontons were absolutely AMAZING. We could not stop eating! We also ordered the honey walnut shrimp which was incredible. We all enjoyed our experience and already plan on going back! It is in the middle of convoy so parking isn't the best, but the food is so worth it.
google avatar

Yelp
Ok so I went to try this spot on a Saturday night while waiting for Din Tai we got impatient and looked for a different spot. We got there there and was seated in like 5 mins on a Saturday night?! I thought that was awesome! The service is super fast for a small spot. Everyone was so accommodating and friendly as well. The food was amazing!!! That we came back the next day to have it again but of course ordered different items but god damn it's still all so good. When people said come hungry they were right because the portions are shareable size so bring a friend or two. My favorite so far is the eggplant with mushroom and the noodles. This place will really want you to keep coming back and try a different dish every time they have such a wide selection. Will come back for sure!

Shredded beef and the house noodles are freaking delicious! Get these. So the service is decent, ambiance is decent...but you go to places like this for the food mostly. This is a go to place for the shredded beef but my first time trying the house noodles. I was not disappointed with either of these. The sausage fried rice and the xiaolongbao were just so so though. The xiaolongbao wrapper was really thick and threw the dish off for me. I forget what they use to wrap it (wonton??) but yea too thick. The rice was just meh. I'll keep coming back to this place and trying different dishes in addition to my favorite two. Unfortunately this place hundreds of dishes. The menu is just too much. But I'll tackle it one at a time!

Yelp
If you are looking for a simple get together for Shanghai Chinese food in the San Diego area, then Tasty Noodle House should be on your list. But, you better get there early (specially on the weekends) because a line will form. Three dishes which stood out for me was the Chicken Chow Mien, the Garlic String Beans, and the Orange Chicken. The noodles were perfect with a right balance of chicken/sauce. The string bean were cooked crisp with an excellent garlic sauce mixture. And the orange chicken actually has orange peel which to me was a first. All three dishes were very good. The other dishes we ordered were good. Unfortunately, I didn't like the flavor of the Vegetarian Dumplings. It might just be me but even with the accompanying sauce it didn't change my opinion. Service was good and food was promptly served. The restaurant ambiance is loud and tables are small. You are packed in and conversations are heard or miss heard by your fellow patrons a foot away. Thus, the 4 Star out of 5 Star. Prices are reasonable for the portions of food served. Definitely, a place I will recommend but not for a first date !

Yelp
Quick to enter, great portions, consistently high quality, and a loud but respectable interior give Tasty Noodle House something to stand on in a food district with so many options. Every dish is practically meant to be shared, and I love that I can always take some home even after the family has had their share. Expect them to be busy yet simple and delightful, no matter when you go. Always get the beef buns! 5/5

Yelp
Come here, come hungry. My dad and I came around 4:15pm and we were seated right away. The food comes family style large portions. I may have over ordered for my dad and I so now I know for next time. We ordered: 1. Shrimp/Beef fried rice - Very tasty and perfect! 2. Beef Noodle Soup - Very savory and comforting! Delicious! 3. Pork Xiao Long Bao - Amazing (forgot to take pic) 4. Orange Chicken - Least favorite, very wet, flavor was too citrus-y. Wouldn't get it again & I forgot to take a photo of it. oops It is a Shanghai & Sichuan style restaurant and the flavors are definitely authentic! The restaurant itself was nice and clean although I do feel the tables were just too close to one another. The service was great, quick and staff was friendly! The cons about this place pretty much is the parking of course in the lot and surrounding areas. I have been coming to this area for more than a decade though so I already knew what to expect but if you're new to this area and San Diego... Parking will definitely be a challenge every time you come to this area. Good luck finding parking. I would definitely come here again and come right when they open instead of during prime time because you would be probably waiting an hour or so. Oh yeah they serve alcohol, fountain drinks, tea, etc. It's a great place and I recommend.

Yelp
My friend introduced this spot to me as a favorite of hers, and it's quickly become a go-to of mine as well. They have quite an extensive menu with lots of dumplings, buns, noodles, soups, and specialty dishes. A typical order includes grilled pork buns, and the crispy bottoms are what makes them so good; green beans with house sauce; hot and sour soup; and green onion pancakes. I've tried some other dishes as well, and while some aren't as flavorful as others, I'll continue to eat here. The service is quick and friendly, and I've gotten lucky and have always managed to get here right before the crowd. Even if you arrive and there's no one there, wait a half hour and the place will be packed; at least that's been my experience. It's not exactly the place to have a private conversation as the tables are situated close together, but there won't be much talking with all the eating.

Yelp
This is a review for only the Xiao Long Baos (XLB). The soup dumplings had ZERO soup in them. The wrapper was incredibly thick. These were the most tasteless and disappointing XLBs I've ever had. Go somewhere else if you're craving good XLB. Service is fast. Restaurant itself is low key. Parking is difficult in this plaza. Based on the XLB experience, I probably won't be back to try anything else.

Yelp
At Tasty Noodle House, the wait was long--about half an hour--but the confusion around our seating made it feel even longer. Despite two large tables being open for our group of five, it took a while to get seated, and the staff seemed rushed due to how busy it was. We started with the pork buns, which were great, especially with that crispy underside. The orange chicken had an interesting twist with real orange peels for a zesty flavor, though the chicken pieces were a bit small. The ma po tofu was a standout, silky smooth, and the beef noodle soup was heartwarming with tender beef and a flavorful broth. Service was just okay, but the food certainly made up for it.
