Tataki Japanese Restaurant

During my trip to New York, I came here because I missed Japanese food. I liked shrimp tempura and spring rolls very much. The staff was kind and pleasant, and our family had a comfortable time.Thank you!

I would give this place 4.5 for food. Really fresh and creative rolls (great spicy roll with jalepenos & another with real crab) Service was decent. The place is a bit run down but good for a quick bite.

So grateful for such wonderful food delivered to our hotel so quickly!! Everything was very fresh, cooked perfectly and sooo tasty. My husband and I ordered the teriyaki beef bento box and there was a ton of food. California rolls, dumplings, tempura, tender teriyaki beef with vegetables and rice I got the miso soup starter and my husband the salad. Highly recommend and two thumbs up!

Authentic Japanese food in downtown New York with reasonable prices. Excellent sashimi and tempura, cheap drinks (including cocktails). Don't expect silver service but the staff were welcoming and attentive. Our bill was $90 with 2 cocktails, a kirin beer, edamame, large plates of sashimi and tempura. Great view of One World Trade Center through the front window.

It is a good, casual Japanese restaurant. The service was good and staff is friendly. Food was good, not too expensive. They have a good selection of drinks. The portions arent too big but they were filling. This place is actually has been here for a while (30 years old). It has some authentic spirit. However they should do some minor renovations, the wooden windows are drafty.

A group of us had called ahead of time to reserve a table for lunch, but when we arrived, the server seemed unaware of our reservation. The wait time was also longer than we had expected for a busy weekday lunch crowd. Furthermore, my friend's meal arrived when we were almost done with our own meals. Overall, I would not recommend this restaurant.

My family and I ate lunch at this restaurant 03/'25. Our lunch consisted of: miso soup, bento tray A, chicken Rom, and sushi ( salmon avocado, tuna, whitetail negi). As soon as I put the salmon avocado in my mouth, a tear rolled down. Several times I gazed out the window to take in the view and hold the taste of my meal. Dramatically stated- Best sushi I've tried.

We stumbled upon this Japanese restaurant on Saturday night, as it was quite cold and we were looking for a place to have some hot food. When we sat down, the waiter asked us if we wanted a cup of hot tea, which made me feel very heartwarming☺️. We ordered crispy rice, Japanese soda, Miso Soup, and Naruto rolls. They tasted great🌟 and the prices were very reasonable. I heard from the waiter that Tataki has been operating in this community for 26 years. I would definitely come back.👍👍

Food - just adequate. Would have been better had it been served at the correct temperature. Service - Terrible. When I tried to catch the waiter's eye, he scowled at me. Twice. Food might've been the correct temperature if he had served it when it was ready. Ambience - probably would be OK for dinner, but at lunchtime the place just looked worn out. They seem to have a thriving take away business, which is I think where they were putting their energy. Many better options within a block or two.

Stopped by for lunch on a moderately quiet Sunday afternoon. We had a 3-roll lunch special, Shrimp Pad Thai and a Naruto Roll. The rolls were fine but the Shrimp Pad Thai was overcooked and a bit mushy. Basic decor and the service was a bit slow even though it wasn't busy but very reasonable prices especially with the lunch specials.

Finally found a decent sushi spot near the office. Location is near the Canal St A/C/E station. Came because of the lunch special - we all got 3 rolls + soup/salad, which was plenty. The salad was good - the dressing was so delicious, kind of tangy and sweet. The sushi itself was good - not amazing, but hit the spot. And they gave a lot of options to choose from, not just the basic rolls. Our only qualm was the soy sauce - it tasted a bit on the sweet side. The place was bigger than I expected, but not at all crowded surprisingly for a Friday at noon. Service was a bit slow, but responsive when we flagged down our server. They even had fun drinks - I got the lychee martini. Overall a great value - we'll definitely be back!

(Overall: C) - We visited Takaki somewhat recently and tried a bunch of their appetizers and I went for the Sushi and Sashimi Combo as the main. I found that Tataki offers a plentiful amount of food, especially in that combo for under $30, while maintaining reasonable quality and freshness for this price. I did find that beyond their sushi and nigiri though, there were some technical flaws that could've been improved. This includes that the california roll was rather loose, the edamame is bland and undersalted, the siumai had minimal flavor, and the tsukemono were too chopped and a bit underwhelming. Beyond their food, I did find their atmosphere to be clean, but rather dim and the staff to be kind and attentive, albeit a bit slow. We came this place on our way to Chinatown. It was very dark, I could barely see the menu. The food took a long time to come out even though there was only one other table when we got there. We ordered chicken wings, which were pretty dried, the sauce was nice though sweet with a kick. Then it was the stir fried udon, it was saucy and sweet. I wouldn't order again. Then we got the roll comb C. Rolls are small but overall ok. Service was poor. We had to ask for everything we needed.

It's been ten years since I've been here for lunch! I can't remember a single thing but came here in part due to nostalgia and I forgot my lunch at home. The staff were efficient and nice. My food came out pretty fast. I got the lunch special of two rolls and a miso soup. It's a decent lunch, not the most amazing sushi but it'll do. Definitely trying the bento box next time!

Well tough call on the rating. Skeptical on sitting down based on the appearance. But was more than impressed with the sushi. The only reason for a 4 star was the service. A bit slow but the food made us for it. Only letting those know who expect immediate attention. Would rather have slow service and excellent food than the other options

Came here for weekday dinner. We ordered the Combo B and Combo D sushi rolls. Combo B contained Spicy Tuna, Salmon Avocado and Eel Cucumber Rolls. The spicy tuna and salmon avocado were average. Eel cucumber had too much cucumber and not enough eel. It basically tasted like a cucumber roll. Combo D contained Crunchy Spicy Tuna, Salmon and California Rolls. Everything tasted standard and not bad.

The salmon in the Philadelphia roll looked old and tasted old. Didn't eat and ai was disappointed

This has become my go-to spot for their lunch specials. Really fresh sushi and really great value for your well-earned dollars. Sure - it may not be an instagrammable place but IMO, you come here for the food and none of that pretentious shizz that kids favor nowadays - and shoot down in their stupid reviews. Service has always been spot-on.

Been craving for scallops lately and have been ordering from Tataki the last 2 weeks! So yummy and fresh. Never disappointed. I live in the area and Tataki has been my new go-to sushi spot for delivery. I hope to come in one day to eat in the restaurant!

Was staying in the area and needed a place to eat and came across this place. The Angel Sushi was amazing and certainly was filling! I ordered 2 sushi rolls and can barely finish the other one. Another plus they were super fast with my takeout order.

We stayed in and canceled our reservation for Indian. My partner wanted sushi to go with the champagne. Lots of sushi places to eat at in person but this place does great take away. The rolls and sashimi were very good. The rock was tasty. Lots of places to try. I am a fan.

There is a decent amount of seating inside and outside. It's pretty spacious. The waitstaff was very nice and I did not feel rushed to leave or order at all. The rolls themselves are a bit small. The decorations can seem a little stereotypical but they are so pretty. For example there was a beautiful kimono hanging on the wall. I wish i took a picture. There was an instance where a customer was laughing non stop and it was just them the waiter and my friend and I at the restaurant. There laugh was so contagious that the waiter had to leave the restaurant to laugh LOL. It seems like they get a lot of takeout orders as well and they are open a little later than other places in the area

The fish was good and priced reasonably. I had the sashimi and a salmon skin hand roll. Took it as takeout and had a nice hotel room meal

After a long grueling day of shopping all my friend and I wanted was a quality no frills sushi spot. We stumbled into Tataki on our way home and this was EXACTLY what we were looking for. Servers were excellent. Sushi great, apps great, cold sake and wine great. Will be our new neighborhood go-to for a reliable spot on a reasonable dime.

Incredibly rude - do not recommend. There was no one at the front station, so I went to the sushi making section of the restaurant where I said excuse me several times each louder where I was completely ignored. I would have left it I wasn't there for a pick up order, the point of which is to be ready when I pick it up. I saw a delivery man do the same thing and he was promptly taken care of, whereas I waited for over a half an hour.

I was here for a business trip. There were several guests eating alone too. I had two rolls and they were very tasty and not over seasoned. Overall a good place on a weeknight that is quieter and nice service. This is a fairly basic establishment but good if you're not looking for ambiance.

Delicious food, fresh sushi, nice service, and great prices - something that is harder and harder to find these days. I also liked that they didn't rush me or add random additional charges to the bill. Would definitely come back next time in Chinatown.

I got this for mealpal lunch. The app was down but the staff was super friendly. The roll was 2/5 but the miso soup was very good. I think the sushu quality would have been much better if I had dined in the restaurant rather than takeout. They gave me free spicy mayo despite usually charging for it. Overall the service was great and the food was pretty good.

Loved their Shrimp Pad Thai it was tasty! Their sushi rolls were okay not my favorite.

Excellent place for a quite early dinner in the late afternoon on Sundays. Came here at 4pm and had the place virtually to ourselves. The service was very attentive and quick. Initially the kitchen prepare the wrong starter for me but immediately corrected their error. The food was fresh and tasted great.

Overpriced and subpar. When I order chicken soup for $20, I expect chicken. Not just broth and noodles

A quiet spot for a nice Japanese lunch. Had Sushi A from the lunch menu. As you can see from the photo, I got a great selection of bites, nicely laid out in the bento box. Cane to about $16 inc. tax and tip. Didn't blow me away, but for lunch it is a solid choice. Inside it can be a little stuffy, so try and sit by the window.

Used to be a great go to inexpensive sushi spot. The quality has gone down a ton over the past few months. Tuna showed up smelling like it had turned and found a hair.

I was here maybe 2 weeks ago for lunch. But I have to say that the food is here is just mediocre. The place was completely empty and I can see why. They have a mix of Thai food and Japanese food, so surely this place should not be called Tataki "Japanese Restaurant". There was something that bothered me when we were sitting at a table almost towards the far end of the restaurant and what I saw was downright hilarious/unbelievable. There was an office desk in the dining area. So literally their office is in the dining area. If you want to provide a nice ambiance and experience for the customer I don't think that's necessary. As well as I saw a server sitting on a beer keg by the bar taking a nap. Almost kinda get the sense of "we don't really care about you" These little things really destroy the experience of a meal or sometimes for some people it makes the meal downright taste awful. It's like think of it this way I am sure if you had Eleven Madison food served to you on a subway train it would destroy the experience and taste.

It is a very quite resturant, even though we were 1 of 4 tables it took them a really long time to attend to us. The food was good and cheap. The chicken satay was really amazing, but the peanut sauce was very thick and chunky. Their rolls and sushi were good for the price. I would go back to try different items, but they need to work on the service. Also, it wouldn't hurt to redecorate, the atmosphere was very aged and out of style for the area it was in.

Decided to try out this small hole in the wall Japanese spot in SoHo New York and OMG was it delicious! The fish was fresh the salmon delicious and the chicken katsu was fresh flaky and full of flavor. Would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for real sushi!

Go to take out sushi place. They always honor my requests like taking off the rice (I know I'm shot) and fish is always fresh and yum. Love them

We ate outside and had great food with a very attentive staff. The appetizers were especially good - we had shumai, gyoza, and Spicy Tuna Crunch. The rolls were good too. Prices were very reasonable for sushi. 10/10 would recommend if in the city.

I ordered tataki online for delivery so my review only pertains to such: I think I've revised a sushi place before and as I said there my sushi standards are pretty high. Tataki met these standards. Their fish is exceptionally fresh. I ordered the tuna, salmon, eel, tamago and masago sashimi-- all excellent and well portioned. I also ordered a chef special role, which I rarely do because I find them underwhelming, but the one I got here (blanking in the name but it had spicy tuna and jalapeño) was delicious. The right amount and balance of flavors. Their gyoza was amazing and seaweed salad was also very good. I ordered all of this for under 70 including delivery fees. Delivery was 10 min before the expected time. Everything was packaged beautifully. Great place !

I FOUND A STAPLE FROM A STAPLER IN MY SUSHI. We ordered a tataki at work because we had to work through lunch, and chewing on my roll I bit hard into something. Decided to spit it out. Found an actual staple in there. I go to tataki relatively regularly because their bentos are OK for the price. This is the last time I will ever go though. I called the restaurant to let them know of this. "Yeah ok sorry. Must be from stapler. Please come back thank you!" *hangs up*

Had lunch here before doing some activities in soho and I have to say everything about this place was amazing !! Friendly efficient service and amazing food! I ordered the lunch beef bento box, it came with teriyaki beef w/ fresh veggies, a spring roll, a salad, miso soup, gyoza, and steamed rice! There was nothing left on my plate by the end! The food tasted fresh and simply delicious! To top it off I ordered a cocktail, it was boozy fruity and also delicious! When in New York again I will return for sure !

No idea why some of the other reviews are so negative here. This has become my go-to sushi delivery joint. Pros * Fish is noticeably more fresh than other locations in the area * Good job on the rice, too. There's actually some vinegar in there, and they use proper sushi rice. * Consistent delivery Cons * My go-to nigiri dinner is almost 30$ delivered. Special rolls are 16-20$. I'm not complaining, but I'm not not complaining. * No fatty tuna. I get it, but still. If you're fine dropping 30$ and want a plate of fresh nigiri this is totally fine.

I have been eating sushi for 15 years of my life. I always finish eating sushi. I did not finish the sushi served here.

My all time favorite place! I have been coming here for over ten years. Owners know me and my group. Always welcome us with smiles. Favorite go to lunch place just 5 blocks from our office. Rolls are pretty good size, fresh and always very tasty. They also have good plu wine and bento boxes. If I am not in the mood for sushi, bento box with chicken teriaki would be my next choice. Love the spicy tuna rolls, after sex roll, mango tango, seaweed salad, sashimi, and lets not forget the pork goyza. We always occupy the seats by the window. Great place for date. Havent tried pad thai. But why? Because this is Japanese not Thai place. They deliver and have lunch specials.

A well priced sushi restaurant on the edge of Tribeca. The service was excellent and fast. The food is not expensive and the served in a short amount of time. I usually order the yellowtail, eel, and white tuna sushi. You won't break the Bank here!

I have to admit, Tataki Japanese Restaurant was simply mind-blowing. The mood, the service, the menu. Many people suggested California Roll to me, I have to say it was really wonderful. The team is really friendly. I really liked that. Definitely recommending this place to my friends!

The wait was a little too long but the fried calamari was good! They have good appetizers and drinks.

My favorite sushi in lower Manhattan..the pork gyoza is so good and my go to order is the Wall St Roll, 10013 roll and Angel roll. Good price point and always cold Sapporos. The ambience is lacking and would kill for a little renovation but the food keeps me coming back.

solid hearty bento boxes and great service! My coworkers and I order from Tataki every week. It has been a bless for us since we found this gem available on seamless. Their bento boxes come with soup/salad, total costs 15-17 after tax and delivery tips per person. Price is slightly on the high side for a lunch, but the quality is very good. Bento boxes coming with miso soup/salad is full of goodies: the main dish you choose (tariyaki, katsu, curry etc), fried Gyoza, and spring roll plus rice (.75 addition for brown rice). I usually get chicken or salmon tariyaki with miso soup. The Gyoza tastes like home-made hearty dumplings. A single bite, hmmm, meat is very juicy and tasty! One thing really impressed us is their great service! We ordered again today and they sent us the order with items missing. They resent the rest of the order within 15minutes of our call. In addition, they gave us complimentary shrimp tempera and a box of tasty pineapple wrapped sushi! Unlike other seamless available places, they showed their consistency from food quality to service quality. Only the ones with the heart of true caring of their customers and the love to share great food will bring surprise and simply made our days happier and full-er XD Thanks Tataki!

Sushi made for the Dutch! Waaaay too many liberties taken with mayo, spicy mayo, eel sauce with mayo, jalapenos with mayo, mangos with mayo. You know that scene in "Forrest Gump" where Bubba just keeps on spewing out different types of shrimp dishes? Well substitute the word "shrimp" with "mayo", and you've found Tataki. I was so naucius after that meal that I broke a 5 year protocol against cigarettes and bummed a cig off my friend just to deaden the vomit convulsions around my esophagus. It wasn't that the food was terrible. No, the mango shrimp flavors were definately novel. The problem is that everything else tasted like a close derivative, or a not-so-distant-but-preferably-lost-cousin, almost as if this sushi's family tree doesn't fork. The highlight of the meal? The plum wine shot they give you after paying the bill. This dining experience was about as messed up as wiping your butt BEFORE taking a dump. I will say that the staff was very friendly though.... probably because they don't know any better.
