Was given a business card to this new spot that just opened up January 2022, decided to come by and check it out. It is a taco truck that sits on a very busy street of El Cajon Blvd. just down the street after getting off from, highway 15. It is located in the same parking lot as Tire World and owned by the same owner. The Taco Truck is in honor of "Alfonso Torres," the owner's father who passed away in August 2021 due to COVID-19. Alfonso's picture is located all around the taco truck in "cartoon form" in remembrance.
The menu is very simple and includes burritos, tortas, mulitas, mini tacos and a quesataco with your choice of meats (carne asada, adobada, pollo or birria). They also offer taco de pescado and camaron. We opt for carne asada tacos, carne asada burrito with everything (cheese, pico and guac) and the combo especial, 2 Tacos de pescado and soda for $5.00!
The staff was very professional and ready to take our order as soon as we knew what we wanted to order. The fish taco's were cooked perfectly with a side of chipotle sauce provided, to give it that extra kick. We learned that the chef is from Sonora, Mexico and the recipe is from her home. It took me back to eating fish tacos in Tucson, as Tucson is very well known for Sonoran Mexican Food. It was amazing to see that and taste the flavors in this dish. The carne asada flavor was cooked perfect and was smaller chunks of meat for easier chewing and flavorful. Will definitely be back, was informed to try the torta's next and am super curious about their birria as the quesataco looks bomb. They offer canned sodas (pepsi brand) as well as Mexican Sodas and water.
Definitely give this place a try, the combos are a steal deal and everyday. Was informed that the hours may vary depending on how busy they are, I did not see hours posted but was informed it could be 5pm or 6pm, just varies. (I've come to realize since COVID this is a new thing for restaurants too)... Also there is a $0.75 charge if you use your credit card... otherwise bring cash. They do get busy during lunch time and even around 2pm, when we came but luckily there is street parking available as well as parking on the other side of the truck. Don't forget you can call-in your food orders and just come, pay, pickup and leave or you can enjoy the covered seating they provide... especially on a hot day like today was!
