"Tatbak has been the go-to kebab place for many an Istanbulite since 1960, and at no point in that time has it compromised on quality. With its lovely stained-glass windows and marble finishings, the vintage-style decor is attractive, but the local vibe and fantastic value for money are the main draws. Take, for instance, the Gaziantep version of spicy lahmacun (Turkish pizza), generously topped with vegetables and parsley, or the kebab with lamb sausages and minced beef – both are house favourites. The experienced chef skilfully balances sweet, spicy and tangy nuances, without losing sight of the importance of the right textures. Tatbak is a mecca for foodies!" - Michelin Inspector

The 38 Best Istanbul Restaurants | Eater

"Every meal at Tatbak starts with their famous lahmacun. The flatbread comes topped with a mincemeat mixture of tomatoes, parsley, and garlic. Add additional parsley, a gentle squeeze of lemon, roll it into a wrap, and dig in. Then explore the restaurant’s kebab offerings, a favorite of locals, including yoğurtlu kebab (meat kebabs with yogurt and tomato sauce served over cubes of pide bread) and kuzu şiş (marinated lamb skewer served with bulgur pilaf, roasted pepper, and tomatoes). The restaurant has been open since 1960 in the posh Nişantaşı district and has maintained a steady following of regulars ever since." - Tuba Şatana

We really like this place for their Turkish pizza, lahmacun, it always comes out fresh and fast. Their salads are also very good, freshly made and one thing that we also often have is the chicken, which is excellent very tender and delicious.

I visited a restaurant known for having earned Michelin stars and for serving the famous "Turkish pizza" lahmacun. Unfortunately, I was met with a big disappointment. The lahmacun was nothing special—I’ve had much better at other places, and the price of 220 TL for this dish was excessive. I understand that a Michelin star increases the price, but at least maintain consistency in both quality and flavor that justifies the star. As for the soup, they only had one option (Ezogelin), and they offered only one dessert (Kadayif). The food selection is very limited, so don’t expect anything extraordinary from this restaurant.

A true Turkish food place to enjoy the original flavours. Outstanding service and great prices. Best lahmacun (Turkish pizza) and excellent desserts. Must go place if you want to avoid tourist traps 😂

The food was amazing! Everything was fresh, and the flavors were well-balanced and delicious. The staff were clean, kind, polite, and very welcoming. A great experience to try high-quality and tasty Turkish food.

I want to write a review about Tatbak — a place known for its lahmacun. I first visited it back in 2015, when someone recommended I try their lahmacun. Since then, I’ve been in love. Every time I fly to Istanbul — which happens rarely, maybe once every 4 years — I make sure to visit this place. It’s a very simple spot. One of those places that doesn’t try to impress with fancy interiors or upscale design. But what it does have is incredibly delicious food. Specifically, their lahmacun. I highly recommend visiting Tatbak. I would rate it 5 out of 5 — not just for the food, but for the consistency and dedication they’ve shown over the years. Their quality hasn’t changed, and that alone deserves real respect.

First of all, the condescending and completely disinterested attitude of the staff makes it clear the moment you walk in that the awards and positive reviews this restaurant has received are fake and exaggerated. Today, I went there on a friend's recommendation, and I found it to be a complete disappointment and a place where discrimination is rampant. Unless you're Turkish, known to the owner, famous, or dressed in a slightly different way, I advise against going at all. If you do, you'll be greeted by an indifferent waiter, then waited for the bellboy to serve you, only to discover your food is cold. After you finish your meal, you'll be forced to pay the hefty bill to the same cold, distant faces to leave immediately. The choice is yours.
