This is absolutely my favorite fondue place, even better than anywhere I’ve been in France and Switzerland. The truffle fondue is out of this world, and the chef’s idea to bake the croutons was simply genius!! It makes the perfect combination. I’ve actually read some reviews complaining about this, but this person might not know that you need to completely dip your piece of bread in the pot and stir the bottom. Fondue is made of a combination of cheeses, and each have a different density. Therefore, with every bite, you need to stir your cheese in the fondue pot to ensure you’re picking up all the flavor. Simply delicious!

Taureau was a nice experience however it is a little bit pricey. For just my husband and I we got the Cheddar cheese(only came with bread and the canola oil with all 3 meats mix plus 2 drinks and we spend nearly 200 dollars...sadly there no more prefix menu that you can get all 3 fondue for a certain price per person.

What an absolutely lovely evening this was. The bar + food selection is amazing, the prices are totally reasonable, and the staff were attentive and lovely. My boyfriend and I were over the moon from the time we sat down to the end of the meal. We got the Pyrenees cheese first, with bacon, chorizo, pears, and apple, and then the hanger steak in white wine broth. The space is cozy and intimate and warm. If you are tired of tiny cocktails, loud buzz, and meh dinner options, this is such a fun date night! My boyfriend is an executive chef and hard to impress, and he said it was a tremendous way to celebrate his birthday. Thank you to the staff that made a lovely night!

Some of the best food I have had in a long while. We had a party of 6 and all shared so I had an opportunity to try a bunch of the dishes and desserts. The flank steak and filet mignon where top notch and the seafood pasta was amazing. The apitizers also didn't disappoint, the escargot was the best I have had anywhere. The service always also very fast and servers very attentive. I would definitely go back and I recommend everyone give it a try!

This place is a staple for a great long night out, highly suggest! Always going with the full three course option which gives you cheese fondue with bread and salad, a protein course cooked in red wine broth, and finally a delicious chocolate course. The prices may seem pretty high at first and then you realise it is more of an experience than any other sit down restaurant. You actually get to share the time together with whoever you have gone with, dipping or cooking your own meal together while indulging. This is totally a different experience than getting the meal placed in front of you and you eat and leave. You can easily spend two hours here if they let you on a non-busy night. Food is great, ambiance is nice, and the price is fair. Definitely would suggest checking out Taureau!

I’ve come here twice and I have had the most wonderful experiences with my friends and family. The Truffle cheese fondue is incredible!! It’s pricy, but it’s worth every penny. I had the 3-prix fixe menu and all the fondues had quality ingredients (truffle cheese, fillet mignon, and dark chocolate). Also, the music and the warmth of the place is very enjoyable. I will come again for sure!

The cheese fondue was amazing. We got the truffle cheese fondue and red wine broth to cook the meat. If I could just go here for the cheese fondue I would since I found the broth lacking in flavor for my taste. However, the menu is prix fixe so we got the meat as well. Would return because the service and atmosphere was great.

Back for the second time while visiting NYC from the west coast. I stumbled on this place by accident last year and vowed to return. Well, we did...I stayed with the cassoulet and the rest of the table had hangar steak (awesome dish) and the pork tenderloin (equally awesome). I know that every time we visit NYC, this will for sure be on our places to visit. The only stipulation is the restaurant only accepts cash and American Express. Well worth the visit.

I mean it was a very nice experience and the atmosphere was dark and flattering to be in. The cheese was definitely of high quality but everything else you pair with it is not expensive but you still had to pay for it. They use a special pot and double boil for the cheese. We had dirty utensils and wet plates... It was a bit uncomfortable. Service was bare minimum with the male waiter

Went here the other night with my partner. Small place that offers both traditional fondue and a full-service regular menu. We got the cheese fondue with nutmeg on top (forgetting the name of it, but it was so good). Our sides were broccoli and the thick cut bacon. Love the endless side of croutons! We then got profiteroles for dessert; came with vanilla ice cream and a healing amount of dark chocolate! Great if you love sweets and cheese. Great for groups of 2-4 ideally. Would go back.

This place is great if you love CHEESE! I went with a big party and we shared 3 pots: Devil's Whiff, Old Swiss, and Perigord. My personal favourite was the Perigord. It's perfect for truffle lovers but not too overwhelming for those on the fence. Everyone gets complimentary lettuce and croutons for dipping, but ordering any other dipping-sides costs extra. I think the side dishes are a bit overpriced, but thats just my opinion. It's fine for a big party ordering multiple sides and splitting the cost like we did. But I could see it getting expensive for a party of two. And let's be real, you're not going to fill up on lettuce and (hard!) croutons alone. That being said, the food and cheese pots were all delicious, and they have a great wine list. I got a glass of Côtes du Rhône and I loved it! My friend had a glass of Bordeaux and she enjoyed hers as well. The waiter was super friendly and helpful, and the wait for food was not long at all. For dessert we shared a pot of milk chocolate and a pot of dark chocolate. Each pot comes with one plate of assorted fruits, small cakes, and marshmallows. The milk chocolate fondue was soo good, I could have eaten the whole thing with a spoon. Overall it was a fun experience, and I'd suggest it for a larger party.

Nice quiet place, seems like a family owned place in soho area. Service was great and atmosphere also nice. The fondue was tasty but the pork offered with the fondue was very tough and overcooked (maybe that's how it's supposed to be?). We ran out of cheese before we finished dipping all the food. Chocolate fondue was good, thought there was an abundance of fruit selections. Overall positive experience, however fondue tends to be generic everywhere. Looking forward to try the other French cookings they have!

Found this place while looking for a tasty fondue on a cold day - our research led us to Taureau! We really enjoyed both the Truffle cheese fondue and the meat which was really high quality. We also got a glass of red wine each which paired really well with the food. By the end of the meal we were stuffed, so we didn't get to enjoy dessert, but the dessert fondue also looked delicious. We are looking forward to coming back for more when winter comes!

If you have a fondue craving, I would definitely try Taureau. Perfect for cold weather and if you are absolutely starving. We ordered the Escargot for an appetizer and it was tasty af. I appreciate that they come shelled and the flavors are amazing. They give you bread for the cheese fondues which was delicious but I do wish there were more options to eat the fondue with, I was so full by the time we were done with the cheese fondue. The meats were delicious but at this point I was bloated beyond belief and we could barely finish the meats. The chocolate fondue was also amazing but we could barely eat any of it. If you do come here I would suggest you to not go crazy on the first dish which is the cheese fondue and bread unless you are starving.

This is the place for delicious cheese and chocolate fondue! We had the Perigord (Truffle Oil) and Old Swiss cheese . Milk and dark chocolate for the dessert. Meat for some of my party. Out of the cheeses, I recommend the Old Swiss cheese. It had a pungent Swiss taste. It also stayed longer in melted form. The Perigord was good too but not so pungent. The 2nd course option ($55 a person) include 1 cheese and 1 chocolate fondue and croutons (to dip) with salad. The 3rd course option ($69) include 1 cheese, 1 meat, and 1 chocolate fondue. You can order vegetables and meats on the side to dip. I did enjoy the potatoes and cornicorns. The 3rd course option would be recommended if you can handle a lot of food. As for me, the 2nd course option was a perfect amount. For a party of 6, I thought we would be out by 2 hours but we left 3.5 hours later.

Delicious! And generous portion sizes. There was sooo much fondue. The truffle cheese fondue was amazing. I personally loved the dark chocolate fondue & red wine base meat fondue. Loved the great dessert selection dipped in the chocolate fondue.

Cheese? Check. Meat? Check. Chocolate? Check. Amazing service and experience? Check. My boyfriend and I were immediately seated for our reservation on a chilly Sunday evening. The ambience of Taureau is defined by warm lighting, quiet to moderate conversation, and casual romantic touches that make Taureau perfect for date night. Our waiter promptly came and took our order. We ordered a bottle of champagne and the three course prix fixe with cheddar monterey cheese fondue, the vegetable broth for the meat course with two sides of filet mignon, and the dark chocolate fondue. The cheese fondue comes with unlimited croutons and salad but we also ordered additional sides of bacon, salami, pear, and potato. When our cheese fondue came in its large cauldron we were dumbfounded by how we were going to finish it in addition to our next two courses. When we got the chance to dip our food into the cheese, we realized that the cheese was not in the cauldron but was in a metal container fitted in the cauldron. The cauldron housed a double boiler that prevents the cheese from burning. Despite the fact that we were bamboozled, there was more than enough cheese for two people to share. The cheese course is not overly heavy, greasy, or salty but was still rich and flavorful. This means you can have large amounts of cheese without being overwhelmed. The croutons are perfect to dip into the cheese because you have a nice crunch with warm melted cheese. Then you can have the salad as a palette cleanser for your next cheese dipped crouton. The bacon, salami, potato, and pear also paired really well with the cheese, particularly the bacon and pear. While the pear combination sounds strange, it is sweet relief from the savory goodness of the cheese (credit to our waiter!). After devouring the cheese, we were presented with sizzling vegetable broth and a side of four sauces for our filet mignon. This experience reminded me of chinese hotpot but with a western spin. The filet mignon is dipped in the sizzling vegetable broth for a few minutes to cook to desired doneness and then dipped in one of the four sauces: truffle, spiced gravy, aoili, and dijon mustard. The filet mignon was delicious and the taste varied with the dipping sauces so we weren't stuck with the same flavor for a whole course. Last up was the dark chocolate fondue served with a platter of marshmallows, strawberries, bananas, pears, apples, and cake. The dark chocolate fondue was the perfect bittersweet and balanced end to our meal and paired well with all the platter of fruit and sweets. The service was amazing. The waiters were very attentive and always asked if we wanted extra croutons/drinks/food. Bottle service was top notch. Our glasses were always full and even when I spilled my champagne I was provided with another glass! Huge shoutout to Nino and our server (sadly didn't get his name) for providing us with an amazing experience we'll never forget!

My husband, friend, and I have been coming here for my friend's birthday for fondue for 8 years and are never disappointed. It has stayed consistently great, and we don't plan on changing our tradition any time soon. We have even attempted other fondue spots and Taureau has stayed our personal favorite. It's pricey, and they only accept cash or Amex, but it has and will continue to alwyas be worth it. The servers are kind and knowledgeable, the space is clean and aesthetically appealing, and of course all of the cheese selections are amazing. We usually get the perigord (has truffles), but we've also enjoyed Old Swiss and Soprano as well. But the our absolute favorite is actually not on the menu anymore: Devil's Whiff. It's the Soprano but with wine and red pepper. Sometimes it can be more wine-y than pepper-y (yes those are technical terms!), but either way it remains our favorite! The last couple times we've gone the server has asked the chef who was able to make this oldie but goodie for us. We WERE slightly disappointed that they've also taken the fennel sausage off the menu, but we also enjoy the chorizo, so it wasn't that big of an issue for us, especially when we usually go hard on french pickles anyway! As for dessert, its dark chocolate for us all the way. Their dessert spread of apple, pear, strawberry, marshmallow, and pound cake is perfect. My husband always said he wished there was a brownie option, but he's a huge chocoholic, so chocolate on chocolate is his thing. Even still, he doesn't really mind the absence of a brownie with the other great options! It is worth noting that this establishment is also a regular French restaurant, but we have never eaten here for anything other than fondue. Just like always, our dinner Saturday left us stuffed, satisfied, and excited to come back next year!

Went to Taureau for dinner last night and left feeling disappointed and ripped off. I do not understand how this place has so many good reviews. The food is terrible. We ordered the 3 course pre-fix of cheddar-monterey for cheese, red wine (which we ended up switching to the olive oil) for the meat, and the dark chocolate for dessert. The cheese had no flavor. No tanginess, no sharpness. The croutons and salad were the best part of the first course but the fondue didn't taste like anything. We ordered a combination of sides to also dip into the cheese. The broccoli and potatoes were steamed vegetables, no salt or flavor or anything. The cured bacon was incredibly tough to chew. Taureau does seem to give everyone massive portions on their tiny plates, but other than the bread, salad, and bottle of wine we had, the first course was not good. The two meats we chose were the filet mignon and the hangar steak. Again, Taureau does not skimp on the portions. The server came by with the red wine broth and told us how to cook the meats once the broth was boiling: 15 seconds for medium rare, 30 for medium, and well done beyond that. Nothing cooked in 15 seconds, in fact nothing cooked in 45+ seconds. We switched to the oil because we were having issues with the red wine broth. Again, we had to leave meat much longer than anticipated to fully cook it inside. The meats were not marinated or seasoned, just raw. The aioli dipping sauce was the only thing that gave it flavor. We probably should've left then, but kept assuring ourselves that chocolate fondue couldn't be messed up and dessert would be fine. At this point, I think our server could tell we weren't having the best time so we were poured a free glass of wine. We had the dark chocolate for dessert. It also unbelievably had zero flavor. The "seasonal" fruits were fine, pears and apples were a bit of an odd choice for chocolate fondue. It was unreal how flavorless the chocolate was. We ended up eating most of the fruit just on its own and were happy to leave. I had absolutely no issues with the service at Taureau. We had reservations, were a few minutes late, and were seated promptly. The servers were friendly and helpful when they sensed we weren't having the best time. But for hundreds of dollars, I'd expect infinitely better quality food. Again, we are so confused as to how this place has the rating it does. The food is not good and definitely not worth the price.

My fiancé and I went here for the first time on my birthday and recently returned for our anniversary dinner. The ambiance is cozy, romantic, and intimate - a rarity in the city. Service was great, the servers are attentive without being overbearing. All three fondue courses were delicious. We ordered a bottle of the house bordeaux, which paired with the meal well. All of the cheeses sound delicious, but we got the swiss - and it was dreamy, definitely order some apples to go with it. The steak was tender and full of flavor, we also loved the dipping sauces. Of course, the chocolate fondue was fantastic, we ordered the dark chocolate and it was the right level of bitter while still being sweet and tasty. You can order more croutons or salad for the cheese, or fruits or cakes for the chocolate, but the initial portions are pretty plentiful on their own. Highly recommend for anyone who wants fondue with quality service and a quiet atmosphere.

The fondue here was fantastic. It's certainly not the cheapest dinner out there but it was really good. The cheese fondue was my favorite of the 3 courses by a large margin, absolutely delicious!

Ah Taureau, i missed you and your fondues. Dearly. BUT, was very very surprised to see that no one checks vaccination status when eating inside. :( Not a smart move in a pandemic. Please CHECK vaccination status for indoor guests!! I will return then! For info: service is GREAT and fondues are still amazing. Just check the damn vaccination status so that we all have piece of mind! It's easy enough.

Ambience really pretty for a date night . Nino was our server , he was excellent and on point . We were first timers in Taureau and he guided us to the right choices . Truffle cheese to start with filet mignon paired with the red wine dipping option. We finished off with fruits/ cake with the milk chocolate option. Amazing , I would hands down go back ! Thank you Nino and Taureau for an amazing experience .

I can't say I've been to other fondue places in the City, but this was a very enjoyable experience. Pretty small and intimate great place for a date night. I thought the prices were reasonable relative to the amount of food you were getting. Loved the spicy, pepper cheese blend we tried and the steak was very tender after getting a bath in our choice of wine. I didn't like the amex-only thing, but we were prepared after yelp (they also call to notify and tell you at the restaurant). If I'm ever in the mood for fondue and cheesiness, I know where I'm going!

Meh. Kind of a rip off. My friend and I shared the $42 prix fixe. We got the pyranees cheese fondue that comes with salad and croutons. We also ordered a side of veggies: broccoli, cauliflower, and carrots. There was way too much cheese in the pot for 2 people. We barely finished a quarter of it. While it seems like this is a good thing (who doesn't want extra cheese), they could charge much less for a bowl of heated cheese and cheap sides. We had the milk chocolate fondue for dessert with assorted fruits, marshmallows, and cake. This would be very easy to make at home at a much cheaper price.

OMG, I've had fondue before, but this was AMAZING. The *Périgord* was absolutely marvelous. I ended up dreaming about fondue for several nights afterwards...

This place was awesome. The 3-course fondue experience left us absolutely stuffed. Perfect for date night. The atmosphere was very quiet for a weekend visit (we came in around 10pm), but that didn't bother us at all. The cheese and bread was a great appetizer into the wine and filet mignon main course. Finally, the chocolate fondue took the cake, with plenty of food for dipping (strawberries, apples, pound cake, banana bread, marshmallows, etc.). The only enhancement I could think of would be to swap the apples for pitted cherries. Service: 5/5 Atmosphere: 5/5 Food quality: 5/5 Food quantity: 5/5 Price: 4/5

The fondue was wonderful and way more filling than expected. The waiter was quite friendly and was nice enough to bring me some bread (not typical at a Fondue restaurant) when my friend got delayed and I waited at the table for 30 minutes, and was accommodating in removing our third course from the check when we were just too full for dessert. The cash-only policy does make it a little tricky, especially as the place isn't cheap, but it's really a great experience

This is a fun food "experience" best shared with friends. We were a party of six and shared three different cheeses (Swiss, black truffle, pyrenees) all were wonderful. Next we had the filet. We chose the oil, and the red wine options to cook our steak in and both were great. For desert we tried both the milk chocolate and dark chocolate with fresh fruit, little cakes, and marshmallows and it was all so good. Def worth the experience.

Thank you Taureau for making our son's 18th birthday celebration so memorable! When we asked him what he wanted for his dinner he adamantly said fondue so I checked out Yelp and found Taureau. We had an early reservation at 5 because we were going to see Chicago. We were the only patrons when we walked in. After getting the rundown on how the dinner worked we were ready to dive into some cheese. We had 4 with us so we chose two different cheeses. We had the Smoked Dutch and the Soprano. OMG the cheese was so delicious! So many flavors going on in my mouth and all of them wonderful. Next we moved onto the entrees with everyone choosing filet. The broth is either oil or wine. We chose both and loved them but the oil broth stole my heart! For dessert we had the milk chocolate with an array of pears, apples, marshmallows, and cake. It was the best fondue chocolate I've ever had! The restaurant made our son a dessert with homemade cream puffs sandwiched with homemade ice cream and whipped cream. It was drizzled with their chocolate sauce. Our son said it was the best dinner he's ever had and didn't stop thanking us the entire night. As a matter of fact he asked if we could come back to celebrate when he graduates medical school....we said definitely BUT I know we will be back sooner! When we left the place was packed so make sure you make reservations!

Fun experience but WAY too expensive. If you do the math it's literally $70 per pot of fondue. The bill WILL come up to about $150 for 2 after tax and tip which is a rip-off for just cheese and bread and salad and chocolate.

We walked in on a Saturday night and asked about fondue dining. The lady at the podium stated that she was fully booked with reservations as they are normally busy on weekends, but then stated she could seat us except we'd be limited to dining for an hour and a half. Before we got the chance to agree to it, she took back what she had said and stated she couldn't even do that for us because "we wouldn't finish in time". Which is it? She attempted to appease the situation by stating she had two parties that had not confirmed their reservations, so she would call us if they were a no-show. No call, and when we attempted to call back, there was no answer, twice. My bf instead decided to make a reservation for the following day and the reservation system stated that we would get a call back confirming our reservation the day of. Nothing. No call, no confirmation, just a big circle of nothing. We've been to a fondue restaurant in Sacramento and they have their system and service together. Glad we didn't spend any money here.

Beautiful, quaint, gorgeous, and fancy, I LOVED Taureau. I've had fondue in Switzerland and it wasn't nearly as good as this. My friend and I did the Prix Fixe option, which is a three-course fondue meal of cheese, meat, and dessert. My ONLY negative was that our service between courses was extremely slow. It took a good 3+ hours for us to have our full meal. But in good company and amazing food, it was still well worth it. For the first course, we had a truffle oil cheese that was just spectacular, with a side of salami and their unlimited croutons and salad. The second course we had filet mignon and pork tenderloin that you cook briefly in a broth of your choosing (we chose the red wine broth). If you can, I'd get two servings of the filet mignon because it is SO GOOD. And for the third course, we had dark chocolate fondue with an array of marshmallows, fruits, and cake. Absolutely amazing. Their house Bordeaux is also very good if you're a red wine lover like myself. I'm definitely planning to take my boyfriend here should we ever make a trip out to New York in the future.

Really fantastic food, service, and vibe. Highly recommend the escargot, mussels (creole), and ravioli (note, the serving is very small but tasty). Abraham (and staff) was super friendly and helpful. They recognized in the rez that it was a birthday and without printing, they brought over a dessert and sang gleefully. As an FYI, we didn't realize the fondue was its own section with minimums. We ended up going to the bistro side for more variety. Overall really excellent!

Slightly disappointing experience overall - my two dining partners and I agreed that we would have preferred skipping the second course altogether. Course 1 was straightforward enough. We ordered the truffle and spicy fondue, and stuck with the offered salad and croutons. The croutons were a little toooo tough for my tasting - I wouldn't have minded crusty French bread - but if you stuck them in the cheese for long enough, they would soften up. We probably would have ordered some other sides to dip if we realized what was coming up. At the beginning of course 2, they took away our cheeses! We were disappointed, especially my vegetarian friend, because now he was eating steamed veggies. No joke, that was the choice for vegetarians - three steamed veggies. Those should have at least been presented with the cheese. While my filet mignon was fine, there really was no flavor added by either the red wine broth or the olive oil, and the dipping sauces were not good. By the end, we were ready for dessert. Course 3, we got the milk chocolate and dark chocolate dips. The dark chocolate was a bit grainy, actually, but I enjoyed both of them. I also loved all of the fruit to dip in, although the cakes were just ok. Overall, an interesting meal, although if I ever come back, I would probably ask if I could skip course 2.

This was my first time trying fondue and it was fantastic! Even though we were 30 minutes late for our dinner reservation, they were kind enough to seat us right away. Ambiance: 4/5 The ambiance was very romantic and set the mood for the cheesy dinner. The restaurant reminded me of a historic house. Food: 5/5 Oh my goodness... we ordered the Perigord as our first course. The cheese fondue was so good that we refilled our croutons until we finished the entire pot of cheese. We chugged onto the second course with filet mignon and hanger steak in canola oil. It was good but not as good as the first course. I thought the meats were a little too greasy for an already cheese-lined stomach. I dropped a piece of meat on the floor by accident but wasn't as devastated as I should have been. The dessert course tied with the cheese course. I'm not usually a dessert person, and not a huge fan of chocolate. But something about the chocolate fondue won me over. Our server saw us enjoying it so much that he was nice enough to refill our chocolate AND the fruits/marshmallows!!! Service: impeccable! Cash only is an inconvenience but I'd gladly come back for the food. Amazing experience :)

Came here for my birthday dinner on a Sunday night. Did the prix fix option at 52$ a person and was very impressed with how much food we got for two people. The cheese part was delicious and the "croutons" were perfect for dipping. For the meat course we chose the hanger steak and filet mignon, it was fun having two different meat options. I was extremely full halfway through the meat course! The milk chocolate dessert was wonderful and I really enjoyed finishing the night with strawberries, Bananas, apples, pears, little pieces of cake, and marshmallows. Service was wonderful as well. No complaints whatsoever

Not bad! My boyfriend found this place-he wanted to bring me to try something new for Valentine's Day dinner. It only has pre fix menu for V Day, which is pricey of course. $151 before tax and gratuity. We ordered truffle oil cheese for the first course. Mushroom really goes well with truffle. So highly recommend you give it a try. The second course, meat with red wine soup were okay. Not better than Chinese hotpot. The third course dessert is a highlight. I knew I would love it because I love strawberry covered by chocolate and in Chinese Haagen Dazs store, I enjoy the ice cream hotpot too. So here, the seasonal fruit and cakes dipped in chocolate is very similar to what I had before. We got milk chocolate and it was very sweet. Try ordering dark chocolate if you don't like much sweet. One negative point was the long waiting time. I felt hungry after eating three courses because between courses, I've waited for too long and used up the energy I just observed from the last course..... LOL

Came here for a friend's birthday. They have prefixe menus which is what we got. First course was truffle cheese with unlimited bread and salad. Idk if I was hungry but that salad was so good. I definitely asked for three plates. Also the bread is good too, especially dipped in melted, hot and delicious truffle cheese. I could not stop eating!! Second course we got olive oil with hangar steak. I mean how can oil and meat taste bad? It comes with 5 different sauces and my favorite was the garlic butter one. Also, the bread dipped in hot olive oil was also delicious! For the last course, we got the dark chocolate. It comes with an assortment of cakes and fruits. I thought the dark chocolate tasted best with the pear. In the end, you're hit with a $$$ bill. I paid ~$90 for the meal and 3 bottles of wine among 7 people including tip and tax. I don't know if it was worth it because the meal is so simple, but it was a good meal and filling too!

fondue! what more can you say! hubby and i opted for the full village prix fixe meal and were not disappointed. for the first round, we selected the black truffle laden perigord cheese which was not too light but not too sharp. we needed another whole plate of croutons to finish it off. it was deceivingly heavy. per the yelp highlights, we got the red wine broth to cook the meat we selected (hangar steak and filet mignon). we both thought the hangar steak was the better choice. it came with five different dipping sauces. we both agreed that the truffle sauce was by far the best. to hubby's dismay, we ordered the dark chocolate fondue for dessert rather then milk chocolate. the chocolate was rich and came with unlimited fruit, bread, and marshmallows. i had noted on opentable that it was our anniversary and they brought us ice cream to complement our dessert course. we were both highly impressed. we are looking for an excuse to have it again soon!

Came in with a groupon and we were still treated like valued customers. Our cheese fondue was so good. We had the smoked dutch and it was so creamy and flavorful. We also got a side of thick cut bacon. Just do it. For our main, we got chicken and pork in canola oil. It was a bit scary, but there was no need to worry about oil splashing. The meats also came with an array of sauces and they were all absolutely delicious. Finally, for dessert, we got the dark chocolate fondue and by this time, we were stuffed. However, who can say no to the best part of the meal? We had a great time at this romantic and intimate fondue spot.

For a fun, unique in many ways and delicious date night- Taureau is a great spot! I went here on a Friday night with my boyfriend and even with a 9 PM reservation, the restaurant was packed! the service was great- they do not rush you but they are on top of their game and can make quality recommendations. My boyfriend and I decided to do the full prix fixe option to go through all courses- here is how it went: The first course is filling- so keep that in mind! We chose the Perigod cheese - it was to die for! It has mushroom truffle & truffle oil throughout it, and it was a melting heaven! The portion of croutons are bottomless so for this course- use them up and ask for seconds, get to the bottom of your cheese! It is worth every bite! The second course is good- and the reason for the $52 per person, but not the best part of the meal. We chose the red wine broth, and got the filet mignon and hanger steak (one each) to try it all. This course comes with about 6-8 dipping sauces- I preferred the filet without any sauce, but felt the hanger steak needed some sauce as it was very peppery in it's seasoning. The third course was my favorite- you chose dark or milk chocolate, we chose dark. This comes with fruits, some cake and some marshmallow. The best dip item was the banana bread slices - it was unique and fun, as well as delicious. However- with only 2 small bites of this, there was not enough! I took the liberty of dipping my spoon right into the chocolate and eating it plain as that was most enjoyable! Now- while everything was tasty- here is why this got 4 stars and not 5- the balance of what you get in each course does not even out. We did add a side of cauliflower to the cheese course, and I would have liked an option to add some sides to the chocolate course if we wanted. I will be back regardless- as the food was good, the wine was good and the atmosphere is cozy- making it a perfect date spot!

This is the second time my husband and I have been here and we had such a nice dinner! Expect to linger over some truly delicious fondue (we spent a couple of hours there!). We had the prix fixe cheese and chocolate meal (no meat course). Our cheese fondue was the amazingly truffle-y perigord, which comes with unlimited toasty bread pieces and fresh salad. We also ordered three extras to dip: thick bacon pieces, potatoes, and cornichons. The added variety was a great addition! For our dessert course, we chose the dark chocolate fondue and it was very tasty. We left our meal pretty full--good thing we spent some time walking around the city afterward. Remember to bring cash!

AMAZING dining experience!! I picked this place for a friend's birthday celebration and it was unequivocally a success. The four of us had a fantastic time. First of all, our server Carissa is a complete STAR. She was absolutely wonderful with our group! All night, she was helpful and patient and friendly, making us feel SO welcome. Note: They don't do BYOB anymore, but they have a drink menu now. We started with a bottle of Bordeaux, which paired excellently with our meal. We decided to do the the full village ($50 pp) because it had much nicer choices. The birthday girl chose the following: Cheeses (served with bread and salad): -Perigord - A rich, creamy truffle-oil enhanced cheese. Soooo delicious! I liked this one the best of the two. -Pyrenees - A lighter, swiss-based cheese. Nice contrast with the Perigord, but definitely gets stringy and chewier as it sits. Carissa brought it back to the kitchen to be reheated, which was nice. Meats (served with choices of oil and broth): -Filet Mignon - This must be paired with the red wine broth! It was so delicious and tender and flavorful. -Pork Tenderloin - Very tender and almost melted in your mouth. A little less flavorful than the beef, but soaked in the flavors of the sauces better. -Dipping sauces - Bordelaise, truffle mushroom, peppercorn, blue cheese, dijon - all were very different and each was delicious in its own way. Chocolate (served with fruit, cake, and marshmallows): -Milk - very creamy and rich, classically perfect -Dark - very dark and bitter in a good way, definitely great for those who don't like too much sweetness. The whole meal from start to finish was perfect. Everything was savored, enjoyed, and indulged. Carissa gave us a couple bonuses: samples of bacon to pair with the chocolate (OH MY GOD. THIS WAS HEAVENLY.) and a little dish of the white chocolate to try (Birthday girl practically lapped it up). Plus, she even brought out the dessert platters with a birthday candle in one of the cakes! So thoughtful! I can't recommend this place enough. The cozy atmosphere, the amazing food, the wonderful service - you can't go wrong here.

We went here for a belated Valentine's Day dinner and we are so happy that we did! The food was all delicious. We got the prix fixe menu and ordered the Perigord cheese, we added four extra sides, got the hanger steak and filet mignon with red wine broth, and got milk chocolate for dessert. The cheese was out of this world amazing and we got the potatoes, broccoli, pears, and chorizo as extras to the croutons and salad, and it was beyond perfect. We enjoyed every bit. The meat was good, but of course, could not compare to the cheese and chocolate. The chocolate was also awesome, and came with a variety of dippers. The banana bread was my favorite. Hope to come back for other special occasions!

I came here last night and the experience was AMAZING!!! The combination of location, decor, service, atmosphere, and fondue made my evening felt wonderful and absolutely luscious. The restaurant is small yet well designed to create a warm and intimate space where I was comfortable, relaxed yet secretly buzzed with excitement. More importantly, our server was attentive, pleasant and sincere, which made our experience so much sweeter. But what topped it off was their FOOD!!! The 3 course fondue ($37/$57) feature was an absolute treat and it was heated by a hot plate that was located directly on the table. Everything was just pure deliciousness, the cheese, the broth, the dark chocolate and especially their MEAT!!!! We ended up ordering the hanger steak and pork tenderloin which tasted heavenly where cherubs and angels would sing sweet melodies as we forked our meat and placed it in the broth to then pair it with the four assortments of dipping sauces that were tasteful yet independent from one another. I highly recommend this restaurant! Their BYOB was a clear plus and their food was the STAR. All in all, everything that night was just perfect and delightful and I would definitely come here again!!! ________________________________ Note: Didier you are an absolutely heaven sent to all us foodies!!!!

This place is freaking AWESOME!!! I came here with 12 friends on Saturday for my birthday celebrate and we had an awesome time!!! BYOB NO CORKING FEE!! I owner himself came out to serve us and make sure we had a good time and enjoyed our food!! We had roughly about 10 bottles of alcohol, the waitress offered to put the champagne and wine in the refrigerator for us. The service is great! If you're an alcoholic like me and love to eat yummy food, you have to come here!! We ate their $37 per a person prefix menu. The fondu cheese is excellent! You get free refills on the croutons! We got super loud and the owner was OK with it! (We were drunk) If you LOVE FONDUE and BYOB, this is the place to go!! If you have a big party, you will need to call in advance to make reservations!!

Talk about Cheese! The fondue pot was delicious. Cozy environment and a great place for a date or a business meeting. Truly an experience that one needs to have, watch as hours go by and you dont even notice because you keep stuffing your face. The servers are attentive and even help replace or melt the cheese some more if it gets too thick or you are taking a long time with it. Cannot wait to go back here.

What can be more romantic than a nice dim lit fondue dinner? Not much. My boyfriend took me here for my birthday dinner and it was romantic, filling and fun. Taureau is a BYOB place so you can bring some nice bottles of wine to pair with your fondue. We chose the pre fixe of $37 a person, which comes with salad and croutons, your choice of cheese fondue, 2 choices of meat, choice of fondue for the meat and finally the chocolate fondue with fruit plate. We chose the Soprano cheese and ordered a side of potatoes to dip in other than croutons. The cheese is thick and creamy, perfect for the dips but I would like a little more. We picked pork chops and skirt steak as our choice of meat and dipped in canola oil. At first, it sounded really greasy but it turned out just right. The meat came pre-seasoned and they also gave us 4 dipping sauces. Then, we picked dark chocolate fondue to dip our fruit and marshmallow. I wish there was more chocolate! We were satisfied by the end of it. It is a little pricey but the service was very good and food is excellent. It is perfect for a group dinner or a date.

Came here for date night and it was fantastic. Didn't have any trouble making a reservation in advance. They called to confirm and they were very transparent about their rules: only Amex or cash, and no BYOB. The atmosphere was very romantic and cozy. The tables though, were too close to each other, like many NYC establishments. I think a fancy restaurant at this price point should not be squeezing people in like a NY subway. The air would go from really hot to really cold, throughout our dinner. The service was fantastic. Very courteous. Explained everything clearly about fondue. Was friendly and also had a fun and personable personality. We did the $52 pp 3 course prix fixe. It included a cheese fondue with croutons and salad, a broth/oil fondue for two types of meats, and chocolate fondue with fruits and sweets. The cheese was my favorite course. We had the Pyrenees (Swiss with white wine, garlic, herbs). They give you unlimited croutons and salad that your cheese allows for. The filet mignon was definitely the stand out meat, cooks quickly, and goes well with the dark (forgot what it was) sauce. All the sauces were delicious. My favorite was the dark (soy sauce colored) one. The truffle one was my second favorite. And the chocolate fondue was delicious as well, but could have been better with some fresh berries. Overall great experience, very nice place for a relaxing and quiet dinner. A bit pricey, would only come for special occasions. Good for dates or a long catch up session with a close friend.

Had always wanted to try cheese fondue so the boyfriend found this place for our second anniversary and made reservations for 8:30pm on a Saturday. We got the full village prix fixe at $52pp which consisted of three courses. We got the Devil's Whiff for our first cheese course which had a nice spicy kick and we pretty much emptied out the pot with the supplied croutons. I had been picturing a creamier texture for fondue and the Devil's Whiff was thick and grittier than I expected, but still tasty, the spiciness helped offset the heaviness of the cheese. For our second meat course, we ordered the filet mignon and hanger steak for the red wine broth, accompanied by a variety of 5 dipping sauces - this was our favorite course and the filet mignon was particularly great, just melting in your mouth. I like how our waitress provided instructions on exactly how many seconds it'd take to cook the meat to the level of doneness we preferred. We could barely finish the final course, a dark chocolate fondue with white chocolate cake, banana bread, marshmallow and and fruits. The place is small, a room off the side of another restaurant that it shares an entrance with, and it seemed to be staffed by only 1-2 waitresses but the service was friendly and pretty attentive.

Really fun experience, perfect for a date night. There's something pretty cool about being able to take part in "creating" your meal. You get to choose from 6-7 types of cheese fondue to start, then choose either broth or oil to cook your own main meat course, and either milk or dark chocolate for dessert. The only option is prix fix for the price of $52. For our fondue we got the perigord - a truffled cheese! I'm a huge truffle maniac and I thought this was really really good. My only gripe was that you have to pay extra to dip veggies/meat in it, otherwise you're only left with the croutons they provide. For the main course we got filet mignon and hangar steak in the red wine broth. You put the meat in the boiling broth for 15-20 seconds and voila, it's done! They also give you an assortment of 5 dips for the meat, and it was fun mixing and trying all of the out. Definitely go for the filet mignon! We were stuffed by the time dessert came around. We got a small plate of fruit and dark chocolate fondue. While it was good, I couldn't finish more than a few bites. The cheese and meat are just so rich, that it felt physically impossible to stuff myself with more. Overall I think Taureau is a great place to go if you want something a little different and more interactive. Come HUNGRY. Meal price seemed a little steep, but I think the experience is a worth it if you've never had fondue before.
