Tavola - Review - Hell's Kitchen - New York - The Infatuation

"There are a few parts of New York City that you simply do not want to find yourself hungry in, and that little stretch of 9th Avenue near the Port Authority Bus Terminal is certainly one of them. However, if you find yourself working (or living) in the high west 30′s or low west 40′s, there are a few restaurant gems to be found, and Tavola is one of them. This Italian restaurant makes excellent fresh pasta in a “let’s pretend we’re in a market in Rome” kind of setting, and while the pizzas look good and are probably the best available in a ten block radius, they’re not the reason for a visit. Tavola does the classics best, including a straightforward lasagna that we’ll be coming back for. Ultimately, Tavola is a situational restaurant worth having in your repertoire in an area where there’s not much to have in your repertoire. Whether you need a solid lunch spot near the office, a meal near Port Authority, or a place to pre-game before a Broadway show, keep it in your back pocket. Food Rundown Margarita Pizza The pies at Tavola look great, but any experienced NYC pizza enthusiast will quickly find that there’s not much to it beyond the looks. That said, it’ll do the job in a pinch. Brussels Sprouts & Smoked Pancetta Pizza Our advice is to go with a pizza that has a lot of stuff on it at Tavola, and this Brussels sprouts and pancetta option is one we like a lot. We would prefer for the pancetta to have a little more smoke on it, but that’s probably Eggplant Parm A nicely layered mountain of fried eggplant and cheese, the eggplant parm hit all the high notes it needed to. Order it. Lasagna Speaking of layers, the lasagna is the best thing on the menu at Tavola. The meat sauce is fantastic, and although it’s a nice serving of food, it wont put a complete hurting on you. I ate this entire thing, went back to work, and didn’t need a nap is all I’m saying. Rigatoni with Tomato Sauce A classic, well executed. You’re safe with this one. Nutella Pizza Save room for dessert. There’s a Nutella pizza on the menu." - Andrew Steinthal

Tavola Hells Kitchen's vegetarian fare is a downer, for most part. As is their insistence that each diner order an entree. Guys! Please understand that it's far too much for four senior citizens to stomach in a single sitting. Food is at premium price point, and portions somewhat variable. Did not appear to be baselined by quantity or caloric content. Roasted Beet salad and Medina pie came in very strong. Crostino, Casarecce Trapanese and (especially the much touted) Gnocchi were okayish - nothing out of ordinary. This from those who've savored Italian at source. Our server, IG, was attentive (too attentive? Trying to talk up the preparations?) and patient. Atmosphere too loud (without music). Near impossible to sustain polite conversation across the table. 20% gratuity was pre-added to check. We typically pay more but you choose, you get it. What's more, the $74 for 2 hours at nearby Laz Parking, recommended by Manager, was a bad choice. In 2025, this place has slipped from high ground over last 3 years (management change?). It's a pity Tavola Hells Kitchen does not effectively leverage prime location, a vintage look -complete with ostrich belt & pulley fan - and wood oven. May appeal to touristy crowd, not New Yorkers.

Tavola – A Hell’s Kitchen Classic That Honors the Heart of Italy This place does not miss. From start to finish, Tavola delivers an experience that feels both elevated and deeply grounded in tradition. I started with the Gotgonzola salad — fresh greens, crisp cucumbers, sweet cherry tomatoes, and rich chunks of gorgonzola. A simple dish, but perfectly balanced and beautifully plated. The bread came warm with a bowl of extra virgin olive oil so rich it could stand on its own. The rigatoni Bolognese was a standout. Thick, hearty sauce, full of flavor, clinging to perfectly al dente pasta. It tasted like it was made in a kitchen that respects time and craft. To drink, I had a Chinotto. Bitter, bold, and unmistakably Italian. A rare find, and a welcome one. Tiramisu followed — cloudlike layers with cocoa dusted on top. Light, not too sweet, and expertly made. The two wood-fired pizza ovens in the back are named after Italy’s great volcanoes, Etna and Vesuvio. That detail tells you everything. This place honors fire, tradition, and flavor. Tavola is one of those restaurants you want to keep to yourself, but also cannot stop telling everyone about. It is that good

Google
Absolutely adore this place. Keep going back there - for lunch and/or dinner - every time we're in NYC. Great menu, fresh food, good wine selection, lovely ambience, excellent service, easy walk from Midtown. Already looking forward to our next trip to NYC and Tavola ❤️

I'm here at New York for a vacation from Florida. Stopped by afterwards from a convention and they were able to accomodate a party of 6 with no issue. Food and service was excellent and I thought the menu was fairly priced. I don't have pizza or pasta reviewer credentials, but do think it is worth a visit.

Google
The visor mer service the food and drinks were absolutely top notch. If you ever have the privilege of being in hell’s kitchen and you really want authentic Italian and amazing cuisine, this is the place to come to. I’m taking the gas work out of everything for you. Manager Franco is top tier and everything from 1920’s has been preserved beautifully and still here which led to the authenticity of the restaurant. Restaurant + museum at the same time

Google
This place was so amazing. It was like stepping into an old Italian diner! The ambience is unmatched. We had the chicken piccata and a margarita pizza, and it was absolutely the best we’ve ever had.

Google
We booked over a month ago from the UK as we wanted somewhere nice to have my birthday meal on our first day in New York. Jet lag got the better of us but we were welcomed two hours earlier than planned. The atmosphere as soon as we arrived was beautiful. The waitress was attentive and informative. I had the Pork chop from the specials menu and my husband had the lasagna, both were stunning! Perfect start to our holiday ⭐️

Yelp
The food as fresh and absolutely delicious! Serve staff was so pleasant and helpful! We had a short wait but it was well worth it!

Yelp
Great food with equally great service! Well known for their pizzas, but pastas are delicious too! Everything on their menu is delicious and their daily house specials are also always a great bet to choose. We visit NYC a couple times a year and 12 years ago we stumbled upon this wonderful neighborhood restaurant in Hells Kitchen while wandering around and looking for somewhere to eat. To this day, it is one of our favorite and must visit spots to eat every time we visit NYC.

Yelp
Business dinner. Our guests from out of town chose the restaurant. Their CEO from Paris & CRO from California. My CEO from Berlin and me (NYC). We arrive early and sit down. It's Italian so my CEO just wants a glass of Super Tuscan, they're out. He then asked for the Barolo, out. Fine, he'll have the Chianti, all gone. WTF? The food arrives (long wait), and it was, meh? No reason to go back.

Yelp
I had another great experience here last night! Tavola continues to be a go-to of mine in this area. It can get busy, so I definitely recommend making a reservation. Last night I had the burrata appetizer and it was amazing! So simple and fresh. I also had the cacio e Pepe, which is a fav of mine!

Yelp
Little eatery near our hotel in Hell's Kitchen area. Made reservations for 4 plus a toddler on a Wed night and they were able to accommodate us last minute. Service I must say was outstanding, our server was very attentive and explained all the specials for us. She recommended items to eat and also suggested some wine. My husband and I split the veal Ragu which was to die for a long with a pizza which is neopoltan style, thin crust. Extensive Italian menu with reasonable prices for NY.
google avatar

Yelp
Went for dinner right after we arrived in town based on proximity to hotel and reviews. Boy are happy we did! It was so delicious. We split the focaccia, right out of the oven. Not as thick as I like it but still flavorful. Also split arancini. Not readily available at home and so delicious. Then we chose gnocchi each with a different sauce. It was billed as cloud like and that was right on the money. Probably the best gnocchi I've ever had and I get it often. I wish I'd had room for dessert as there was a chocolate espresso mousse cake calling out to me but alas no room after such a heavy meal.

Yelp
While visiting New York in December, it was a very cold night. So we decided to dine near our hotel. We were confident that food in NYC is always good. So we made reservations at Tavola and it did not disappoint. Service was great & friendly. Ambiance was very Italian. Like eating at my old Italian neighborhood on the Bronx. Food was super delicious & the mini cannolis for dessert was just perfect. In NYC, Reservations is a must.

Yelp
Have been coming here for years, before Hudson Yards. Hell's Kitchen has no shortage of good Italian options, but the food here is worth stopping in for. I always get one of the pizzas, and one of the cheesecakes with a seasonal topping. I had my first and best clam pizza here, it has a good balance between the cheeses and the brine of the clams. The owners make sure to stop by every table and most of the waitstaff is Italian as well.

Yelp
We had ordered quite a few dishes and were truly happy with everything. The burrata was creamy and silky, probably the best I have ever had. The arancine should be listed as extra large, they are huge! The spaghetti with chicken meatballs were a hit with my friend's son and the gnocchi melted in your mouth, they were so soft. There were two downsides. We were a party of three but they seated us at a two top right on top of the wait station with plenty of open tables. Also, our server might have been on the new side. She never told us about the specials, forgot the vegetable side dish we ordered, nor asked if we wanted to order desserts just offered the check. Franco, the manager was charming and very enthusiastic to share the history of the restaurant and how the interior is all original. It's so nice to see that it was preserved, truly old school New York vibe. Highly recommend making reservations to ensure getting a table, one can do it right on the Yelp app.

Yelp
I stumbled across this place on a very cold January afternoon... looking for something other than a salad... they have a great lunch special where you choose an appetizer and either pizza or pasta ... When traveling during colder months... it can be easier to do a late lunch that is the main meal of the day... Tavola was the answer for me! The ricotta style cheesecake is not to be missed... hope you enjoy it as much as I did!

Yelp
The location is easy to find and I reserved online which makes it easier. The restaurant is pretty small inside with lots of tables close together. It was very dark inside so I had to use a flashlight to read the menu. Mladenka was our server and she was nice difficult to understand at times but nice. Just as an FYI they don't have a kids menu and when you do order spaghetti and meatballs for your children it's very expensive. Pizza would be your best option. Also if you want bread, it's $10 something we didn't know. I did get arancine which was cold inside, obviously frozen then reheated which isn't good. Overall the food was ok. You can see what we ordered on the receipt. Overall the meal was ok. Would I return - maybe. The bathrooms need a bit of cleaning and upkeep.

Yelp
The service and Tavola were lovely. It is a very busy restaurant. We were 7 people and we sat at a long communal table. The spaghetti vongole was really good. The focaccia was delicious too. The cod special was a generous portion and lovely. The spaghetti bolognese and gnocchi bolognese were also enjoyed. The pizza Margherita was served lukewarm. The flavors were good though.

Yelp
Would not recommend - rushed service and subpar food. Despite having a reservation for 3, they wanted to sit us at a table for 2 with a third chair awkwardly on the side even though there were plenty of tables available. We asked to move and got moved to a slightly better spot at the communal table. As we were eating we felt rushed, like they were trying to flip the table, despite more than half the seats in the restaurant being empty. We were out of there in 40 mins, so it's not like we overstayed our welcome. Bad vibes. Oh and to make things worse it was pretty hot inside, which was unfortunate as it is a rainy and humid day in August and I was hoping for some reprieve from the heat. I was sweating inside. The food itself is nothing special - Whole Wheat Penne with Salmon was overcooked and very fishy tasting. Margherita pizza was ok, but could be crispier at the bottom and thinner. At least it was fairly soft and not chewy. And finally the lasagna was good but not worth visiting for. Overall highly unimpressed and disappointed and will not be going back. Overpriced for what you get and terrible service.

Yelp
The chicken meatballs are amazing. The pizza, it's New York, it's great, but I'm from Texas and I like my pizza a little more on the crisp side. I had a kitchen at the hotel so was able to pan heat the left over pizza and got the crisp that I liked. I need to remember next time to just ask for it to be crisp. Wait staff great, the venue is very nice, good wine selection. Second time at this place, it has potential to be a regular go to when in NYC

Yelp
Pondered this one. But i am going 5 star. Went on a Friday night. Pretty crowded. Had reservations. So was seated promptly. Asked our waitress for some recommendations. She was great. Got the artichoke arugula salad. Seasoned very good. Then pappardelle bolognese. Delicious. Margherita Pizza was ok. Nice bottle of wine. Great vibe Highly recommended

Yelp
Great lunch and dinner experience at Tavola. Very close to Broadway and Hudson Yards+Vessel. They have a lunch special that is fixed price. They also have gluten free options. I ordered the meatball and spaghetti and gluten free Margherita pizza. Both were delicious. The meatballs were good portion and had lots of flavour. The GF Margherita pizza was a very good gluten-free option and did not taste like a GF crust. The restaurant is very cozy and has a cool wine bar for happy hour or dinner drinks. The service was fast.

Yelp
Armando was so amazing! Great service, Great drinks, and lovely atmosphere. Lovely little spot.

Yelp
We had reservations and were seated promptly. They have these long tables where it feels communal style seating. We didn't mind. Our server was good. Gave us the specials and brought our food and drinks in a timely manner. 5 stars Vongole-generous on the clams and the light sauce was perfect. 5 stars Frutti di mare-generous seafood and very tasty. 5 stars-Octopus appetizer. Cooked perfectly, not chewy and the sauce complimented it well. 3 stars-Shrimp pesto risotto was ok. It was a bit underwhelming. Not much flavor. Overall, a solid dinner experience. We would come back again.

Yelp
Took us way too long to check this restaurant out considering it's so close to my boyfriend's condo. So glad we decided on takeout the other night. Ordered: *Caesar salad + Greek salad *Margherita pizza *Casarecce Trapanese pasta dish *Apricot cheesecake SO GOOD. Salads were huge. Caesar could have had a smidge less parm and a little more tang from anchovies. Pasta was incredible: happily saucier than described with delicious roasted eggplant chunks and gooey cheese. Pizza got a thumbs up! Cheese cake was divine. Not too "cream cheesy", not too sweet, airy and softer crust, thin apricot topping with some strawberry slices.. I basically died. Pricey (in part because of where it's located) but well worth it! Will definitely return.

Yelp
We visited Tavola on a Sunday afternoon. We had to call to make a reservation since we had a party bigger than 6 people, but reservations for smaller parties can also be made through Yelp. They also told us we had a 90 minute time limit, but that wasn't really an issue. The restaurant was moderately sized so I understand why they wouldn't want a bigger party staying too long. The interior was very rustic, and I liked the antique glassware the water came in. Our waiter was very attentive and made sure everything was ok throughout the meal. For my entree I ordered the gnocchi della casa with pesto (it comes with your choice of sauce). It really was light as a cloud. The pesto was delicious. I don't know what exactly they added, but it's different than other pestos I've had in the past. I actually finished the entire plate and I usually love to bring leftovers home. My fiancé ordered the spaghetti with chicken meatballs. We rarely see a restaurant that serves chicken meatballs so we had to try it. I really liked it. The meatballs weren't too light or too dense. They were the right balance of in between. Our friend ordered the Margherita pizza. It was a handmade individual pie. I love pizzas that are prepared like that. He thoroughly enjoyed it. For dessert, I ordered the gelato Sicilian pistachio amaretto crusted and my fiancé ordered the Belgian chocolate espresso mousse. The pistachio gelato was good and the crust tasted like a mix of peanut m&ms and the shell of drumstick ice cream. The chocolate mousse was more of a semi sweet/dark chocolate. My fiancé isn't a big fan of dark chocolate. I thought it was ok. It wasn't too sweet and would probably go well with a cup of coffee. Our friend ordered the cheesecake and he said that he liked it. It looked really good! At first I thought the price was a little high for the amount of food you get. However, the quality definitely makes up for it so I think it's fairly priced now. Tavola is definitely going to be one of my go to places for Italian food now.

Leslie D.

Yelp
Such a fantastic meal we had wood fried margarita pizza and lasagna both were delicious! We also ordered dessert both the tiramisu and the pistachio gelato were amazing! Our server was wonderful too! We'll definitely be back on our next trip to NYC!

Yelp
Tavola is a reliable brick oven Italian spot that might not be a standout if it were downtown, but up near midtown, is the rate restaurant that takes reservations and isn't a ripoff. Nothing earth-shattering here, but: Service is great and friendly. Atmosphere is lovely. Menu is diverse and fairly priced. Brick oven pizzas are very good. Salads are generous and nicely dressed. Pastas are generally cooked and sauced properly. Fish is prepared with respect. We are huge fans of the plain tomato pie (the marinara pizza). You get their excellent brick oven pizza dough covered in a great marinara and garlic, but no cheese. Add Parmesan for extra flavor, but it's otherwise light so you don't feel sick after eating it. A great starter. Also the eggplant Parm is a terrific example of the kitchens restraint. Baked, not fried, with just enough provolone for flavor. Well done!
google avatar

Catherine C.

Yelp
Casual, authentic, affordable. If you are looking for a casual authentic Italian place with good price, you should try this place. I really liked the food and drinks, service was also excellent. Only thing is that the space is tight. We were seated at a communal table, people were constantly walking behind me and accidentally touching my coat, which was a little annoying.

Julia S.

Yelp
I recently had dinner at Tavola for the first time after attending an event with family . We called while on the way to the restaurant after finding it on Yelp. It was rush hour so we weren't sure if there would be a table available. We called and the man on the phone said a table would be waiting for us. When we arrived, he ushered us right to a table with no wait. The staff was nice, the vibes were immaculate and the food was to die for! 10/10! We will for sure be back!!!

Sheila S.

Yelp
Amazing dinner tonight ! We had pasta with rabbit. Chicken saltanbucca. Cesar salad. And the BEST homemade cheesecake Great service too

Yelp
Tonight I'm celebrating a work-win at Travola. Is it the greatest Italian food in the City? Hell if I know. This is a big city with an unbelievable selection of world class Italian restaurants--but, this place is my favorite. I love the people that work here, I love the owner/chef, I love the atmosphere and the history. There are a lot of great Italian restaurants in the city, but this one is also fantastic and you should give it a try.
google avatar

Daniella M.

Yelp
Gorgeous intimate dining with delicious food and affordable prices! I'm already planning to come here for my next trip to the city. The gnocchi was delicious and the softest gnocchi I've ever had! The service was attentive and my food came out fairly quick! I saw the braciole on the menu after I ordered and need to come back and try it
google avatar

Yelp
Excellent find the night before Thanksgiving Reservation for six was honored and on time. The restaurant is cute, decorated with the original Hell's Kitchen vibe and decor. The restaurant is tight and dark. Great date night locale. The pizza was traditional Neapolitan and done nicely. The spaghetti with Vongole was executed nicely as was the Lasagna del La casa. The Nutella pizza was fantastic adorned with hazelnuts and strawberries. We wrapped up limoncello that was excellent. Generous happy hour in the early evening available. I am confident I will return
google avatar

Cheryl M.

Yelp
This was an excellent find. Food was amazing, service was top-notch and the food was delicious! I will definitely put this on my NYC list of faves. Ambiance was super cute, too!
google avatar

Yelp
Friends of ours told us that they go to Tavola every time they visit New York City and recommended that we try it. I'm so glad they did! This is probably the best example of quality Italian cuisine in New York City. The food is excellent, the waitstaff are attentive, And the atmosphere conjures images of an Italian home and kitchen. I can't wait to go back! (Sorry about the mix-up Nick! I owed you this correction!)
google avatar

Yelp
Went on a Tuesday, table for 2, no reservation. The restaurant was packed. The Host immediately assured me he'd secure me a table within 15 minutes. It took 10 minutes to sit. The service was incredible, food spectacular and ambience superb. No complaints. If you want authentic Italian food, authentic Italian family ambience, this is your place.
google avatar

Fritzi G.

Yelp
Very nice authentic restaurant. Everything was flavorful in Italian standards. Ambiance could use some more light and better fans. The hot nyc weather needs AC in every restaurant. The food tasted fresh and we didn't have sit too long for it. Definitely recommend this spot!

Yelp
Dinner with friends for a private party - had the private room booked all for us. When we checked in, we were led down the hall and down the stairs to a secret private room! A bit scared at first at where we were being led as it was getting hotter and quieter... but finally we arrived. Wow, we had the room all to ourselves with our own bathroom. The menu was already preset thanks to our friend who booked and pre-scheduled the menu with the restaurant. Service and staff were good. Vino was abundance and forever flowing since we did have a minimum spend for the reservation. Complimentary bread to start off the evening. Special thanks to Rafael and his staff their hospitality the entire evening! The antipasti sampler per person was delicious - a little bit of everything - mozzarella, cured pork, fried calamari, eggplant, caponata! Plenty of options to select from the entrees for vegetarians to meatlovers... decided on the frutti di mare. It did not disappoint at all! Desserts were just ok for me - cannoli and choc expresso cup...don't drink coffee and not much for chocolate or cannolis...so they were just ok. Fun evening had by all! Now that expectations have been set, looking forward to coming back again...for good food and great memories. Mangia!

Yelp
Such an incredible experience I loved every moment I spent here! The music, the lighting, the food, it was all perfect! Many different options for dietary restrictions, children, even people who are on the opposite spectrum of veganism and want ALLLL the meat and cheese haha they have it all! I recommend the simple margherita pizza and pair it all with a glass of their Rose Beautiful restaurant! Worth the pretty penny!

Craig D.

Yelp
Food was not fresh and mostly gross. Service was weird and mediocre. Ambiance was dated and dirty.

Rosalyn U.

Yelp
I love this place. Great food, cozy ambience. I'm deleting two stars because the place reeks of artificial roses! What is it with NY restaurants and these noxious air fresheners?
google avatar

Yelp
Amazing food!!! Never disappoints. Service was great, knowledgeable of the menu and wine.

Yelp
Great, fresh food. Pasta and pizza are wonderful! Great service. Ambiance is perfect, intimate. My go-to restaurant when I visit NYC. Love this place!

Yelp
Went here for late night Mel after full day at USOpen and it did not disappoint. Place feels like old school Italian places I went to with my parents when I was young. Service was great. We had pappardelle pasta and a pizza and both hit the spot. Could tell it was made from scratch. Highly recommend

Yelp
I loved that Tavola had vegan options! The vegan gluten free lasagna with impossible meat was so delicious! We also had great service. I will definitely be back when I'm in NYC.

Yelp
I'll start this off with the ambiance is very cozy and romantic. Dimly lit, conversations going on, the aroma from the kitchen was amazing. We came in around 8:15pm on a Monday, we were seated quickly. Our waitress literally came to our table 5 times within 7 mins asking us if we figured out our food order and drinks. We felt so rushed but realized they were closing at 10pm. But still no reason to rush us. Which made us a bit uncomfortable. I ordered a soda , completely flat , took two sips and left it. We ordered pizza , which literally came out in 8 mins. It was undercooked and had a odd smell from the meat that was on the pizza so I picked it off and ate two slices that were somewhat cooked. The other dish we ordered was chicken , the cooks forgot the capers and when we told the waitress she said oh they put a few but not too many because it makes the dish salty. Mind you I took a picture of the plate when it arrived and it had none. We literally left majority of our food and walked out dissatisfied by the food and the pushy service to get us to order because they were closing. I guess I would maybe come back here for a drink but not for dinner. P.S. - all the photos of food are from the restaurant, even though management claims my issue with the pizza was from somewhere else. It wasn't about the cheese either it was the meat so i'm aware he didn't fully read my review but felt attacked about how my time went at this establishment. I've eaten at plenty of restaurants and I stand by the service and food I received that day.

Yelp
This midtown Italian restaurant provides authentic Italian food and a decent happy hour that is worth checking out. We booked Tavola for an early dinner before seeing a Broadway show. The service was attentive and food was coursed appropriately. There was complimentary bread service served with olive oil. We started off with a ceasar salad and the burrata. The ceasar salad was delicious: crisp with the right amount of dressing and thick slices of parmesan. The burrata was served with cherry tomatoes and roasted red peppers. We enjoyed the burrata but it is not a must order. We tried the gnocchi according to our waiter's advice and it did not disappoint! The pasta itself was pillowy and cloud like. It did not have any of that too-dense potato dumpling feel at all. You could choose pesto, pomodoro, or a cheese sauce for the gnocci and we went for the cheese. I didn't love the sauce as it was rich, but I think ordering the gnocci with pomodoro would have been a perfect dish! The happy hour was good, offering some wines and aperol spritzes for $6. At 5pm, we were some of the only guests in the restaurant and it was rather silent inside. Overall, I'd recommend Tavola for dinner when there is a nice crowd to make it feel more intimate!

Yelp
Recently dined here with some family visiting from out of state. We had a lovely experience. The place is quaint and full of ambiance. Feels like you're dining in Italy. The manager and waitress were extremely kind and helpful, especially as we had young kids in our group with picky palettes. The food & wine was excellent. So fresh & flavorful! I would definitely recommend if you're in the area.

Yelp
Apparently it's normal for waiters to back talk and give attitude to women recovering from surgery. The New York Strip Steak was undercooked and cold in the center and when I asked for them to cook it more he responded : "this is what you asked for." Furthermore due to my surgery I was unable to cut the steak and when I requested for it to be cut they told me they Do Not. ...... Newsflash - all the steak houses or restaurants I have visited not only in the USA but in at-least 15 other countries - my request has been met in a very professional matter. It is normal for the kitchen to cut the steak in slices for a customer. The ambiance was ok, almost depressing due to the table being extremely uneven and wobbly. (Almost spilled my water and beer allover myself and food - trying to cut my steak that was medium and cold - after a surgery and in pain) The candle was very dim and rather than experiencing a restaurant in Manhattan Hudson yards - I felt as if I was eating in a cave. Sad to admit that I have dined at the restaurant many times and even ordered take out. Unfortunately I nor my company will go there anymore. Attitude and unprofessional should be ranked at 5 stars! I happily paid my bill and left to enjoy another restaurant in the area, with great energy and positive staff.

Yelp
As I walked on 9th Avenue on a Friday night the old school lights of "Tavola" beckoned and they welcomed me, without a reservation. Sebastian was an over the top server with his eye on the ball. An artichoke salad to start had a perfect bite of freshness with help from the Parmesan cheese on top and a nice earthy/bitter artichoke. The entree I actually decided on before I saw the menu as half the restaurant had ordered the same thing. Spaghetti Vongole was served perfectly, moist with clam brine, perfumed with garlic, and a freshness unimaginable. I dug into a tiramisu for dessert and the cold bowl serving was delightful. See you soon Tavola as I plan to move on to the red sauce expedition.

Yelp
Where do I begin....we have lived in the neighborhood for over 20 years and have been coming here for a long time. Loved this place until we dined here today. What happened?! Decided to go for an early dinner. Well, we arrived about 20 min prior to happy hour ending. Received tiny, tiny wine glasses. One of Lambrusco, which had no bubbles-sent back was given another from a new bottle. Ok, all good now. Spouses Aperol spritz was basically a wine shot glass with tons of ice, he had two sips literally. I mean, I don't mind paying for drinks but don't advertise happy hour and then skimp. It was never like this in the past. Cutting corners and seemed like they are trying to save $ on quantity. Server said "well, that's the happy hour pour". Really?! Anyway, also ordered Peroni (which was normal size) and a Multipulciano (which was musty tasting-bottle must have been open a while). Drank it as I didn't want to complain, but that's that. So let's just say, if you go for happy hour drinks you are getting the worst of the worst. Onto the food. Never was given bread for the table. Had to ask what the daily specials were. Lasagna the table had said it was good. Nothing to rave about though. Pizza came and it wasn't fully cooked, cheese wasn't melted. At this point, I didn't want to send anything back and the whole experience was unacceptable and un-accommodating. Service was lackluster and borderline rude. I hope you can do better in the future to keep local business. Seems like they only care to thrive on tourist business. One and done clients.

Yelp
Nice dining experience and excellent food and wine. We started with the focaccia which was amazing and had the arancini (shrimp and veal) which were okay, wouldn't order again. Our dinner selections were gnocchi with Gorgonzola sauce and pappardelle veal ragu both dishes were really good. If I go back would definitely try something different as they have many selections. Love the family/home feel of the restaurant.

Yelp
Omg this pizza was amazing. Came to NYC for a day to celebrate my daughter's birthday. We originally had reservations for a hot pot restaurant but the all you can eat price was much more than advertised on their website, so we decided to come here instead. 5 people on a Saturday evening with no reservation and we were seated immediately. I got the baresa pizza (ESPOSITO SAUSAGE, BROCCOLI RABE, ROASTED BREAD CRUMBS, MOZZARELLA) and it was AMAZING. The crust was a tad too burnt in some places and it could have definitely used some more meat, but overall it was very tasty. I also got the seasonal cheesecake which was apricot and it was perfect. The crust and apricot topping were nice and sweet, but the cheesecake itself had a pleasant tartness to it. Overall the experience was great, quick, and affordable. We had a great time!

Yelp
We lucked into reservations on a Saturday night and everything was amazing! It's such a quaint little restaurant with fantastic food. The foccia was probably the best I've ever had. The arugula salad was to die for! The eggplant parm was so light because it wasn't fried and the red sauce was amazing! This place will definitely go on our list for places to return to! Well done!!
