"Tea Bar was inspired by owner Erica Indira Swanson’s college years in Beijing, but the sleek, sparse design and atmosphere is Seattle-Scandinavian. While high-quality loose leaf teas are available, Tea Bar specializes in boba milk teas and creative tea lattes, like the cardamom chai latte and the bee pollen matcha latte. Milk choices include dairy, gluten-free oat, coconut, and house-made almond." - Nathan Williams, Eater Staff

"While Tea Bar is known for its exceptional boba and other teas, the new summer drink menu this year is a game-changer. Tea Bar now offers different fruit drinks made with mango, guava, or raspberry puree. The sparkling coconut with mango is an ideal summer combination, while the guava jasmine tea fruit boba is a more floral blend of fruit and honey boba." - Seiji Nanbu

"Known for the beautifully minimalist interiors and cute mason jar drinks, Tea Bar’s prolific expansion and chic aesthetic make it a common hangout for Portland boba enthusiasts. Tea Bar’s menu ranges from vegan matcha soft serve to vanilla rose bubble tea, but the latter shines thanks to the quality of the cafes’ grade A tapioca pearls. The texture is always balanced in its chewiness, swirling within sweet-not-syrupy teas. Tea Bar is currently offering some indoor seating and dine-in space." - Seiji Nanbu

Yelp
Nice ambiance, premium selection of teas to choose from, and pretty park right outside. will update when I get my drink!

Yelp
every new place i visit, i always have to get boba lol and the lucky boba place that i chose from the many portland had to offer was Tea Bar! the place itself was very cute. the aesthetic was minimalistic and clean, and there were a lot of tables so it made for a really nice spot to study or catch up with friends. its also located in a really nice residential area with a few small parks to walk around after stopping by, which was nice honestly, it didn't disappoint. a little pricey but they do use very high quality ingredients and house make a lot of things, like their almond milk. i liked the variety of drinks they had, many of them caught my eye but we decided to go with the featured bee pollen matcha latte with boba and almond milk and hong kong milk tea with boba. the drinks were very well made, and i personally was not the biggest fan of the bee pollen matcha drink; im not sure if it was the almond milk or bee pollen but there was this strange taste i wasn't fond of. i thought the hong kong milk tea was solid though, it wasn't too sweet and i could taste the tea. the boba was also okay here, it was a little firm for my tastes but better than being overcooked and mushy. it wasn't the best boba/drinks ive ever had but it was good for what it was!

Yelp
Pretty good! This isn't my first time here, but this time in particular I really enjoyed the taste of my drink. I'm a sucker for matcha, but this time it was made perfectly! The place is clean and spacious, good spot to study or hangout. Staff is kind and prompt. Different milk options available.

Whelin C.

Yelp
The matcha was pretty good but the other drinks were a little too sweet for me and I wished the tea was stronger. It is very neat inside as it is very sleek and organized if thats what you like. Our drinks came fairly fast but it is a little pricey for what you get in my opinion.

Yelp
Awesome place for boba, with plenty of seating to work and a minimalistic vibe. The Hong Kong style boba was made well and tapioca fresh. The lavender lemonade was refreshing. Wish there were places like this on the east coast! They have some baked goods as well as tea to purchase. Great service, good drink and comfortable space... what more can you ask for? Quiet street as well, with clean bathrooms.

Yelp
Tea bar is great for a cute little date in the city but not somewhere I want to seek and be a regular at. The tea is not quite as strong as I would like it to be. The service is usually pretty good. One time I went to the division location (before it shut down) close to closing and was given a matcha that was grainy and unmixed. I wish I was wowed by TeaBar but really there is better matcha in town that is a bit more price friendly. The boba is really well done though. Always great.

Yelp
I had one of the most delicious teas at this shop! I tried their seasonal pumpkin spice latte, and could actually taste the real pumpkin! It was amazing. As soon as the weather warms up I'm definitely headed back to try one of their fruit teas, which is one of their specialty drinks. Service was prompt and friendly, and the establishment was clean. I would say the only thing lacking was that it wasn't very comfortable inside, so I'd recommend just getting your drink to go. It's located in an area where there is plenty to walk around and see.

Yelp
It could've been better! This was my first time and am not planning on coming back. Their tea drinks both hot and cold were too weak and too dilute! Nice walkable neighborhood on this side of town, right across from a decent Tanner Springs Park with close proximity to the waterfront so I do understand the why behind the 4-star rating both on Yelp and Google Reviews. The staff took my order clearly exhibited the body language that they preferred to be elsewhere. I was going through the menu with specific questions so it took a bit longer and I also said it was my first time there. And nothing, not even a word of "Oh take your time" or "Let me know if you have any questions about the menu " or even offered suggestions with their best seller or seasonal menu, nada! Perhaps Tea Bar made it and built enough fan base for profit so no need to earn new patrons. I decided to order these 4 items to get a broader taste of what they offered: -Blue Majik Detox, 16oz, $6.75: iced only, it was so light to the point of flavorless and tasteless. I did not smell any hint of the organic lavender tea and definitely did not taste the cold-pressed lemon juice at all. -Hojicha Rose Latte-Seasonal, 12oz, $7.00 (extra $1 for Oatly): hot, I could taste the house-made Egyptian rose sweetener and was glad I got oat milk which helped enhance the flavor a bit for me. -Prosciutto Gruyere Croissant (warmed), $6.50: I came in right at 4:30 pm so if this was made on the same day, it definitely lost all of its flakiness. The layers stuck together so it was forgettable and nothing special about the prosciutto. -Lindsays Mini Olive Oil Cake, $8.00: it looked alluring so I was excited and had high hopes for it. Oil it was, even too oiled for me. I thought it was going to be moistened which is my preference for cake, but it was not moist or light at all. It was way too sweet for my taste. I only had a few spoons and asked for a to-go box. To my surprise, they do not have boxes, only cookie bag size. I understand boxes cost more, yet if you sell any baked goods with loaded powder on top, a bag to go is not cool at all.

Yelp
Unlike most people, I'm a tea snob. It has to be prepared a certain way, or else I'm quick to go somewhere else. For me, also, it's not just about the tea, it's about the ambiance in which it's served... And Tea Bar is always my go to place for good, consistent tea! Especially when I need a cool, minimalistic environment to just relax and think in. Although it's a bit pricey, for tea, they artfully brew it for you and it's always consistent (which I love). Located right across the street from a one of my favorite parks in town, I've been going to the Tea Bar for over 3 years now and can't recommend it enough. Whether you're a tea snob, like me, or not. ;)

Brittani C.

Yelp
Ordered: -Matcha with peach -Peach Tea -Hong Kong MT with boba Pro: -It's so cute inside and there is plenty of indoor and outdoor seating -Drinks came out quickly -Boba is a good chewy texture -Good freshly brewed tea (no powder) with milk substitutions & sweetness adjustments! Heads up: They don't have soft serve anymore

Mia H.

Yelp
I was walking around the area and decided to check this spot out after hearing so much about it and seeing cute pictures of it online. The inside of the shop is very spacious, open, and bright so it has a very nice ambiance--especially for studying or catching up with friends. The drink menu isn't very big but they do have quite a variety to choose from. I've been able to try their boba tea, coffee, and regular teas, and would recommend the regular tea/coffee over the boba tea. While they're all are good, there are better boba options in the Portland area and likewise, I think their tea and coffee options really shine here. Nonetheless, I would still come back and think that it's a great shop in the area!

Keely N.

Yelp
Love the aesthetics of tea bar. A nice ambivalent for pictures or study time. My go to order is the matcha guava with boba and oat milk. Second drink is the lavender boba tea with oat milk. Very delicious. There are always nice baristas too.

Yelp
Tea Bar is a super cute, minimalist boba shop located across from Tanner Springs Park. I loved the feeling of this spot and the friendly staff. What really made it stand out though were the drinks! I tried the bee pollen matcha latte and the Hong Kong milk tea with boba and both were exceptional. The bee pollen matcha milk tea tasted like a wonderful honey matcha latte and the honey helped balance out some of the grassiness of the matcha. The Hong Kong milk tea was brewed strong, just like all good Hong Kong milk teas, so the tea flavor was definitely the prominent flavor. The boba could've been a bit softer for my liking. It had a gummy bear texture to it, but I was fine with it because it was very flavorful. If you dine in, they serve the drinks in cute glass jars. I love that they have this option to cut down on single use plastic.

Daisy S.

Yelp
Ambiance is always nice and quiet. Workers are always welcoming. There's nearly no wait time for your drink.

Alice L.

Yelp
Love this place! I'm from out of town, but every time I'm back (usually in the summer), I come for their sparkling fruit drinks (minus the coconut milk, I like mine without!). It's fresh, not too sweet, and absolutely delightful. It's also a great place to work, there are plugs in the walls, strong wifi, and chill music. The staff is nice and always happy to answer any questions!

Adrian E.

Yelp
Sweet people, great service, great ambiance, delicious selection. First time at Tea Bar, will certainly come back.

Yvonne X.

Yelp
Just visiting town and found this place. The space is very clean and comfortable, would be a wonderful spot to study or get some work done with a cup of tea or boba if we lived in the city :) there's a great variety of drinks so most people should find something they would like. We got the Hong Kong style milk tea with boba. Strong tea flavor and the boba has a nice chewy consistency. The drinks under "boba teas" include boba already, but everything else has the option to add boba if you'd like. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. Overall great place to visit for boba and relax with your laptop or books.

Daphne C.

Yelp
The interior is nice and minimalistic and the drink itself was great. However, the boba was a bit hard. We arrived midday so it wasn't due to the time of day.

Paige T.

Yelp
Super chill place with great lighting and delicious teas made with care. I spent a couple hours in here, enjoying a book and a cardamom chai boba tea. It's pricey but you get a good amount, and it's some of the best chai I've had (and it goes well with boba!) The staff were also super helpful and friendly.

Kelley S.

Yelp
Nicolas gave amazing customer service! 10/10! I also loved the interior decor! Everything was very clean n minimalistic!

Tina D.

Yelp
Super helpful staff. Provided great recommendation for a hot Saturday afternoon. I ordered the Hong Long Style Boba. The ambiance is chill and I would come back here to work. I was passing by and ordered to go.

Nicole H.

Yelp
yummy boba place! the matcha was good, more authentic matcha so it wasn't very sweet. i loved the vanilla rose tea, it was the perfect sweetness and a really good flavor. their boba was also super soft! a little on the pricier side, but really good. the inside was nicely decorated and quiet, it would make the perfect place to study!

Leilanni A.

Yelp
Updating my review. I received a free drink card & my experience was pleasant. The workers were nice to me & attentive and the earl grey tea was delicious.

Fair P.

Yelp
Great atmosphere and tea! Cute decor; boba is soft and chewy; great selection of familiar and exotic blends;

Heather R.

Yelp
I had a great experience at Tea Bar. The shop was nice and there was a diverse menu of drinks to choose from. After some deliberation, I got the vanilla rose boba without the tapioca pearls. It was sweet and floral. I found it very refreshing and could tell that the tea was good quality. For this spot, there's street parking. I will definitely add this shop to my favorites.

Sara Y.

Yelp
this is the perfect spot for working from home! with so many tables, outlets along the walls, chill music, wifi & large windows, i could spend all day here. there's plenty of paid street parking in the area and the drinks all look so good & refreshing! they have super quick & friendly service too

Marcia C.

Yelp
Great seasonal options! I got the strawberry milk matcha and it sounds delightful! The prices are very reasonable for the pear area.

Melia F.

Yelp
Very cute cafe with lots of options! I got the sparkling mango with coconut, very tasty!

Annie N.

Yelp
The location is bright, spacious, and well decorated. Plenty of drink options as well as alternative milk options - the guava matcha is my favorite, it's not a common matcha combination, and it works much better than strawberry or blueberry matcha that are more popular!

Shannon H.

Yelp
One of my faves for tea from innovative flavors and textures to ambiance decor and retail offerings. Smart tea in a chill space! J'adore!

jeffrie f.

Yelp
Super helpful service, impeccably clean place, great ambient music that is not too loud or overbearing. 10/10 would recommend

Natasha S.

Yelp
Ordered some refreshments on a hot day. They really hit the spot! Great service at this location that's super convenient for me

Stephen K.

Yelp
Great drinks both fresh and healthy. The mint majik is very unique tasting you can't get it anywhere else. The interior is also really nice with a park nearby.

Chelsea T.

Yelp
Tasty beverages! The coconut cream matcha is a favorite. So many seasonal and creative options to choose from on the menu. Try the pumpkin spice latte with black tea during the fall/winter.

Sandra N.

Yelp
This place isnt really "bubble tea" in a traditional sense I'm really shocked at how expensive ($6.25 for a thai tea boba) yet how poor quality and lackluster the drink is. It tasted like diluted flavored water and the bobas are pretty hard and doesn't seem fresh at all. For reference, a 6$+ boba drink is usually made with real milk, fresh boba, and actually tastes good.. They've basically taken an asian drink and made it washed. Also they have you verbally tip- maybe cause covid? Overall not great update a star since someone who has worked here msg me some details about how they use fresh ingredients and other drinks usually taste better. thought she was really polite so i'll day at least they have nice people working there! but stand by what I said about lacking flavor, at least for this drink.

Hansary L.

Yelp
The Tea Bar has a very peaceful layout and the staff is super friendly. Wonderful experience!

Isabel T.

Yelp
super nice cafe. it's so clean and has so much space to lounge out. the drinks are also tasty! it's also right next to 2 parks, would recommend trying.

Rachel N.

Yelp
Love the tea here! The service and staff is great. The place is very minimalistic and clean. Probably my favorite tea shop in all of Portland tbh.

Betty L.

Yelp
Loved the unique selection of drinks and store is very cute with minimalistic decor. The staff is friendly and didn't have to wait too long. Got the vanilla rose boba and fruit layered matcha with mango flavoring, both with coconut milk. Drinks tasted a little watered down but the fruit layered drink was still good.

Jesse S.

Yelp
Normally, I do a little research before trying a new place, but I was in a rush and stopped by this Tea Bar to get something refreshing. First of all, this is the most minimalistic place I've ever been too. It was bright and clean, but so soulless and empty. This place gave me Kimye's kitchen designed by Axel Vervoordt vibes. But ok, let's forget about the decor for a minute as my order was to go anyways. Second of all, there was no menu neither behind nor in front of the cash register (does a sheet of paper count?) . So I walk in and see 3 people hovering over a table by the entrance. I see they are reading a sheet of paper, so that must be a menu! I look around to see if all tables have menus. No menus. I open my phone to see if they have it online, and again- no luck! You click on the website but it transfers you to another one - iloveyousomatcha.com , again with no list of drinks. I come to the register and see they have another sheet of paper. Yay, a menu! while I was reading, a line formed behind me, so I rushed with my order skipping customizations (light ice, light sugar). The drinks itself were good, even though I got my drink with 100% sugar/syrup it wasn't too bad.

Sarah S.

Yelp
Delicious tea and friendly staff! It is expensive but think of it as meeting your friends for a tea rather than a cocktail!

Elissa S.

Yelp
Matcha Lemonade is life! Tea Bar's matcha lemonade runs through my veins at this point - I've been going here multiple times a week for years for my go-to daily drink. Tea Bar is the best: beautiful and delicious drinks, high quality, thoughtfully sourced ingredients, no funky additives or weird stuff, woman-owned, local business that supports other local, women and BIPOC-owned businesses, friendly staff, clean serene space right on the park. The whole menu's dope but my top 5 in no particular order except for #1: 1. Matcha lemonade! 2. Hojicha latte 3. Strawberry milk matcha 4. Vanilla matcha latte 5. Bee pollen matcha latte Treat yourself and go :)

Aliza W.

Yelp
Best tea shop ever go here!! They have options for adults and kids. The people who work there are very nice and helpful and give you plenty of time to decide what you want. (Which is great cause there is so many good drinks). Also the decor is very clean and modern which I like.

Dylan O.

Yelp
I love the Cocoa Boba!! So so delicious! Such a great atmosphere to study too. Ideal to come here on a sunny day and have the sun soaking in through the big windows. They even brought my boba drink too me! My favorite tea place in Portland by far.

Thao N.

Yelp
Gorgeous space, really good boba drinks - Inalso like their selection of pastries. Would definitely go back.

Becky X.

Yelp
Friendly service, great ambiance, drinks are good and done just right!! Was good and would come again

Alexa F.

Yelp
I'm staying in Portland for a month and have already been to this place like 6 times. The matcha latte is perfection. Also love their boba - it's not too sweet and they use all-natural ingredients! I highly recommend it!

Brio Chique Salon T.

Yelp
Very pleasant vibes! Perfect place to meet for any occasion. Love the customer service, attentive and helpful when picking out a perfect drink for the day.

Erica C.

Yelp
If looking for actual tea, would recommend going elsewhere. Ordered a jasmine tea that was very watery and only faintly had any tea flavor to it. The boba was also very hard and too sweet. Cute store and probably a nice place to chat or work, but definitely not high quality tea.

Susan M.

Yelp
The place is super cute and simple modern! Very chill and the drinks are amazing too. Definitely need to check it out :)
