The 9 Best Shaved Ice Spots In NYC

"This all-day Thai snack shop in Elmhurst has lots of outdoor seating and two frozen desserts that are worth going out of your way for. The first is a traditional shaved ice with a whirlwind of textures and toppings like corn, beans, boba, and grass jelly. The second is the Rooty Tooty, a shaved ice-adjacent slushy dessert, which comes in Thai tea, Ovaltine, and red and green "flavors." The slush base is covered with chunks of soft bread, corn flakes, and condensed milk." - kenny yang, carina finn koeppicus

Tea Cup Cafe - Review - Elmhurst - New York - The Infatuation

"Teacup Cafe is the kind of place you’d want to hang out every day after school if you lived in the area while you were a teen. They play Thai pop music and have cute booths and outdoor tables that seem ideal for talking about your latest crush with your closest friends, and you can get a huge portion of very good fried chicken and chewy, deeply green chive cakes for $15. If you consider dessert to be a meal, a very good alternative is to get a shaved ice with all the toppings for $12. There’s corn and beans in it, so even though it’s a “dessert” it doesn’t have to be." - Carina Finn

5 Restaurants to Try This Weekend in NYC - Eater NY

"Tea Cup Cafe is a modest Thai café in Elmhurst with seating at picnic tables and cooking done on a pair of hot plates. They offer coffees, sweet cold teas, fruit-filled crepes, Thai toasts, noodles, soups, and daily specials. A recommended dish is the fish rice soup with a delicate herbal flavor." - Eater Staff

Hands down some of the best soups in the city and the best restaurant in Little Thailand! Amazing service with attentive staff. Atmosphere is calm and relaxing with comfortable outdoor and indoor seating. The duck soup, larb tuna, and Thai bbq are huge highlights plus BYOB. A must in Little Thailand

Google
Delicious Yen-Ta-Fo Noodles and fried fish balls. I went to this restaurant so many time and food is always the same quality. Easy and friendly vibes all over the place. Nice service and super casual. You will see a lot of Thai people hanging out around.

Google
Great spot for thai food. The staff is really nice and friendly. I was there for two nights in row. Hot pot and Thai bbq are the best.

Listen we only come here for the Rooty Tooty dessert but it is so fabulous, need to come for the rest of the menu too!!

Another wonderful place to eat and relax in Elmhurst! The pork blood soup was the best I've had since Chiang Mai and the pandan custard bread tasted absolutely amazing. I've been having dreams about it now 555555 They make a nice durian smoothie too. The staff are SUPER friendly and welcoming. This is becoming one of my new favorite places. ขอบคุณมากครับ ❤️🇹🇭

Google
Very nice staff, clean + peaceful atmosphere, wonderful and polite service. I highly recommend the bubble tea that they have (there’re two options: slushy bubble tea and regular bubble tea; both with bubble included). The price is also very reasonable because it would cost more to get the same bubble tea options elsewhere.

Google
Update: 08/22 (see the noodle soup in a red bowl) quality of their boat noodle soup went down. The broth was way too sweet and there was not much flavor beside that there was no herbal smell too. There were very small amounts of meat, the meat I received wasn't even meat in it just a big chunk of fat. I also got 2 half-cut fish balls. The portion also got smaller. 05/22 One of my favorite Thai restaurants. Always come here for their boat noodle soup. They are very generous with their ingredients. I really really really like their bread with kaya (pandan). Other restaurants would just steam the bread but this place put extra time and effort in cutting the bread, toasted, and making sure that it is slightly crispy, and I'm very satisfied with it. Not a big fan of their minced chicken salad tho, it was very watery and the flavor wasn't in the chicken. The staff were very friendly as well, I felt very welcomed throughout the dine in.

Must try. Hot pot! A herbal Thai style soup with pork, shrimp, cabbage and glass noodles. Refresh your day with fancy hot pot and iced green tea. And don’t forget to try a grilled bread with a pandan custard. Friendly service.

Yelp
I've only gotten the toast with pandan custard here and have since been here a few times just for that because it's soo good. Pandan is such a unique flavor and something to try if you've never had it before. Place is quite casual with tables and benches. Believe there is a bathroom in the back. They also only take cash. If you're short there is an atm in front of the bodega across the street.

Yelp
For a mere $7 - the small serving of Duck Noodle Soup was so satisfying. The broth was rich and flavorful. There was an ample amount of duck, a few meaty mushrooms and a tangle of toothsome noodles. Lisa R. Had the Thai Tea Shaved Ice, an immense mountain of delicate flakes, served with condensed mil, sweet bread cubes and boba. Refreshing

Yelp
This is a cozy hole in the wall spot for amazing Thai food! The staff are really nice and the food is authentic. The bbq is perfect of small groups - you grill the meat on the top dome and the meat juices will fall into the soup that is around the rim. By the middle of the meal, the soup is so delicious!! We all could not stop drinking it. Also, there is a savory, slightly spicy sauce that pairs perfectly with the bbq meats. Mookata is super popular in Thailand so happy to find it in NY! A must order is the pandan toast - the milk bread is warm and soft and light. When dipped in the pandan sauce, the combo is just heavenly! Their appetizers are worth trying too! We tried the fish balls, chive cakes, and the E-San sausage. All of them were delicious and came with different sauces. The fan favorites were the chive cakes and the sausage! I tried the Ovaltine volcano for the drink and it was a chocolatey, decadent slush. I will definitely be coming back if I am in the area again!!

Yelp
My husband and I had been meaning to try this place in a long time and today happened to be that day. We weren't too hungry but we had an hour to kill, so we sat down and ordered seafood tom yum noodle soup, chive cakes and the chicken wings. I tend to evaluate Thai restaurants based on how good the tom yum noodle soup is, and after the first bite, I was like WOW. It was one of the most flavorful, delicious tom yum soups I've ever had! Phenomenal! The chive cakes and wings were also tasty. Service was excellent, and we had a brief exchange with the owner who seemed friendly and kind. More than anything, I loved the comfortable homey feeling of food, space and people. Can't wait to come back!

Yelp
Limiting this review and rating to be for their desserts only, as we have not yet had a chance to try their other food. Stopped by for some quick dessert with my boyfriend's family after dinner nearby. The small cafe is unassuming from the outside, but screams authenticity as soon as you step in. The outdoor seating area is plastered with different menu items written in Thai (some with English translations, some without). It's the definition of no frills, but in a way that seems to promise you that the food will be absolutely delicious. I definitely want to come back to try their other food! As for dessert, my boyfriend and I split a condensed milk toast and thai iced tea. You really can't go wrong with condensed milk, sugar, and toast, so as expected, it was delicious. The price point for it though, was a tad bit pricey for what it is. Thai iced tea was perfectly balanced and not too sweet. Our waitress was incredibly kind and patient with our large party. Service was quick & efficient!

Yelp
Cute space though I think it's more pleasant to go at night during the summer when it's cooler since it's open air and no AC even on the inside cuz they don't have a closed space. There is a 10 dollar per min per person if you eat in but I think it's reasonable esp during busy times when people drink or have desserts. I didn't ask them though if they would enforce it when there was no one there during the afternoon but my friends and I wanted to try a few things anyway. This is only for drinks/desserts- it was too hot to order their bbq or hot pot given the weather. The drinks were very good- milo brown sugar drink was excellent. Not too sweet and the boba wasn't round but firmer pieces of grass jelly that you can chew- pretty good and refreshing. The cappuccinos Oreo slush was super strong and good for coffee drinkers. The olvatine drink was tasty and malty. The only disappointment was the Thai rooty tooty- I felt like the Thai tea wasn't coming through and just tasted like vanilla with no real tea flavor to it. This place is cute to come for snacks. Will be back again.

Yelp
Some of the best food I've had in queens. I don't give 10/10 reviews so easily but everything tasted 10/10. The fish Tom yum soup (requested fish broth) was one of the best soups I've ever had. I wish I took a picture of it but I ate it right away. The spice level was perfect for someone who loves a good kick. The flavors were solid and tasted more on the authentic side compared to other Thai places I've tried. It was the perfect balance of savory, sweet, sour, and spicy. The fish tasted fresh in this dish as well as the fishcakes I got. And finally, the pandan toast was so so good we had to get another order of it. The price point made everything just better as well. A small bowl of soup was only $7 dollars and a large was $10. I loved that they gave the sizing options, making it more convenient and affordable for anyone eating on a budget. This place is definitely a favorite and must try! I will be coming back often for that Tom yum noodle soup and the pandan toast.

Yelp
Came here on a Friday afternoon and were seated right away. The space is pretty small and made the place feel extremely cozy and warm. There was one other person sitting at a booth nearby so we weren't the only ones in the place while there were several individuals who came through to grab takeout as well. We came here for lunch so didn't share any of their desserts, but I'd be curious to try those if I ever came by again. I got a fish dish and it was super tasty - crispy, well-flavored, and a large enough portion for one person for sure. I would definitely get it again! I think the service was good, not the most attentive, but we got our food quickly and our order was taken pretty fast. Overall, I would say this was a good lunch spot for someone not looking to linger too long - definitely a get your food, eat, and leave immediately kind of vibe. A great meal nonetheless at a good price!

Yelp
Went to Elmhurst with a large group of friends and we split two large orders of Thai bbq chicken and beef, as well as a cold ramen salad that had the same flavors of a papaya salad. Portions were generous and the food was fantastic; the broth that the waiter poured over the hot pot was very savory. Eating here was so much fun.

Yelp
Absolutely loved the food and service here! Today, we enjoyed the delicious Tom Yum noodle soup and refreshing frozen drinks. The restaurant looks even better after the renovation. Can't wait to return for more!

Yelp
*DESSERT REVIEW ONLY* - only dropped by to have some desserts. The place is super small and one of those no frill places... not the type of spot with any kind of ambiance where you would go on a first date, etc. just your local, LOCAL Thai spot kind of vibe. Tables aren't necessarily clean and the menus are sticky....but I was only grabbing dessert so I didn't care too much. Pandan Custard Toast $8 (4.5/5) - 3 sets of small pieces of toast with spread butter/custard and a side of pandan-custard mix dip. Pretty good but rather expensive for an appetizer. Thai Rooty Tooty $12 (3/5) - Just thai shaved ice with corn flakes, condensed milk and pieces of bread. Honestly nothing outstanding with this dessert and I was rather disappointed coming all this way for it. Compared to all the dessert shops offering different toppings and additions into their shaved ice, I don't think I can go back to a shaved ice like this. Flavor is OK but I would not get this again. Staff was very friendly. Cash only.

Yelp
I had the beef hotpot last time. The hotpot was nice, portion is big. Worthy to try!

Yelp
This place is such a cute, neighborhood gem. It actually reminds me of some of the hole-in-the-wall places I experienced in Bangkok. The food has a home cooked feel--really flavorful and comforting. My husband and I shared a salad, wings, and the pork BBQ set, which was a LOT of food. The staff members were really sweet and kept checking on us throughout the meal. We will definitely be back soon.
google avatar

Yelp
A lovely, friendly low key Thai restaurant with absolutely delicious food. We shared the spicy wings, amazing pork ham spicy salad and pork bbq that you grill at your table with egg, veggies and glass noodles. Worth every penny. The whole bill was 54$ and we at very good.

Yelp
Cozy and homey Thai cafe serving Thai comfort food and a variety of drinks. The price point here is extremely affordable. The staff here were friendly and attentive. We've been here a few times and have tried most of their menu items. We had the tom yum noodle soup (4.5/5), it was absolutely amazing. The broth was rejuvenating and soothing. The medley of ingredients work together to provide different textures and flavors. The beef nam tok noodles (4.5/5) was good. The broth was herby and rich. The noodles cooked to perfection. The chicharron, beef offal, and meatballs were great. The Thai chicken wings (3.5/5) were mediocre. The larb pork (3/5) was too briny and spicy, they did not even mention a spice level. The beef meatballs (2/5) were too dry and bland. The beef ramen (2/5) had overcooked noodles and it broth lacks flavor, it tasted artificial. The drinks here are great as well--we had the Ovaltine volcano, Oreo milkshake, yakult slushy, cappuccino slushy.

Yelp
Love this little hidden gem in my neighborhood of queens. I go there every once a while since I live not too far from there. The most recent time I went I got the little hotpot they have on their menu and chive cake. Chive cake was beyond delicious . The hotpot was great too . I had an amazing meal and would definitely go back again in the near future !

Yelp
Recently ordered a Thai noodle soup and it was poorly cooked . The vegetables were raw and inedible . The broth wasn't fit to be eaten
google avatar

James B.

Yelp
I was in the area today, decided to stop by here. I got the Tom Yum noodle soup and a thai ice tea. The waiters were friendly, however the soup was incredibly oily. WAY too oily, Tom yum soup should be made with chili peppers, galangal, kaffir lime leaf and lemongrass. NOT chili oil. On top of that, there was barely any broth. They gave a good amount of thai ice tea which was good, but the food itself was weak. I'm gonna pass.

Yelp
Love this place , Red rotti tooti and tosted beead is our favorite They also have mini shabu2, dumpling and some thai food .

Yelp
I've been a big fan of Tea Cup since I was in college ten years ago and I'd go back every time I miss casual carefree student life. Lots of nostalgia and love in this little shop.
google avatar

Yelp
They have outdoor seating. We got Thai tea and ovaltine flavored rooty tooty. It basically taste ice. I could not taste neither thai tea nor ovaltine. I would say waste of money. It only looks good. We also got fries and chicken larb which was good.

Yelp
I came here a few weeks ago and I promised my friend I would write a review on this place because we had an extremely poor experience here. Each customer is required to order a dish and they forced us to order two items even though we were coming for dessert. We ordered a shaved ice and asked them to put the red beans in the dessert on the side because my friend does not like them. They did not listen to our order and it came out with red beans. We didn't send it back because my friend said she'd eat around them. I ordered a lychee bubble tea for our second dish and it was so sweet that it was undrinkable. I took one sip and did not drink anymore. The issue came when we got our bill. We saw we were charged for extra red beans. They argued with us that we had ordered extra red beans (!?) even though my friend had said she did not like them to the waiter. On the table, we had a dish of beans in a dish we had not eaten and had to put our foot down to get it taken of the bill. Would not recommend or go back to this establishment.
google avatar

Yelp
Most authentic thai noodles spot in the Queens area even though they mostly have desserts. Each noodles and soup base are different from each other as I try various ones. My favorite dish is the Nom Tok with flat noodles, so full of flavor and satisfying perfect for a chilly day. Also don't forget to get the toast with the pandan !
google avatar

Carmen L.

Yelp
Tea Cup Cafe Initially only wanting to try their dessert, we also drop by to try their noodle soup. It was an extremely hot day in NYC and we drop by here for lunch. This mini cafe opens its door so fresh breeze can come in which didn't really make the seating and comfy any better with no AC and Fan. Their menu is on the chalkboard on the right side of the wall. If you order take out you go up and paid in the front. If you want sit in you go up to cashier order and then find yourself a seat, they will bring the food to you. What we order : Stewed Pork Noodle Soup: ($8.50) I got this with glass noodle. It was two pieces of stewed pork with mushrooms, bean sprouts, and yau Choi. The noodle soup tasted okay. Larb Pork Over Rice: ($8.50) ground pork with spice and uncook cabbage, onions and cucumbers. Dish was kind of spicy. I had better larb Pork elsewhere. Toasted bread with Pandan Custard: ($6) should eat this right away when it comes out or it will become hard later on. This was a good dessert. Ovaltine Volcano Slushie : ($5.50) very chocolate taste but as you drink all the way to the end it will get watery. Okay dessert spot to try out.

Yelp
This place serves the best tom yum soup ever! The place looks like a regular cafe that I thought its just a typical place to hang out and drink some coffee or juice but actually its not. When I walk in I observed most people is eating some noodle soup so that means their food is a must try and we ordered the tom yum soup base on one person that I ask what shes eating. Yup, I ask because her food looks yummy. Their menu is pretty funny. You walk to the counter and its just a written menu opposite side of the counter then you order and seat then they'll just bring the food to the table. I can't forget the tom yum soup because it taste a little sweet, very spicy and sour. My kind of taste that I went to this place twice in a week. Really good! I also tried their pandan crepe with vanilla icecream on the side and its not very sweet. Not to much ingredients but it taste really good. Me and my friends enjoyed the food.

Yelp
Delicious hearty noodle soup, we tried 4 kinds of noodles today. The seating area is not big.

Yelp
I have been here more than 4 times already, the staff is very kind and accommodating, plus the food & drinks are delicious. Highly recommend the duck noodle soup, it's a good one to pick if it's your first time going there. And you can't go wrong with their desserts, the size of them is HUGE. Hopefully you have a second stomach for it
google avatar

Yelp
Came here mainly for the Pandan Toast and their bubble tea. Soon as I walked in I ordered my toast, the menu along the wall also has Noodle soups; asked the clerk which is the most popular noodle and she said the Tom Yum soup, told her an order of that to-go. My warm toast tasted So Good (pandan is a flavorless leaf), combined with condensed milk and a hint of coconut. I took my toast and swirl it around the Pandan sauce and it was heaven at every bite. When I got home to eat my Tom Yum noodle soup, the spice level was way too hot for me to handle, couldn't even finish the bowl. Didn't realize it was that spicy, or else would've told the counter lady no spice at all. Overall, cute place for a quick snack.
google avatar

G M.

Yelp
Wow their Tom Yum soup with the glass noodles was very good. It really hits the spot and made perfectly. I also got the bread and pandan custard and man it was soooo good I'm gonna get fat!
google avatar

Yelp
I have been to Tea Cup Cafe a few times now. Since I am a vegetarian/pescatarian, I don't really have too many options. I tried their fish tom yum the first time. It was too spicy for me. I didn't end up finishing it. I ordered the pandan custard toast to ease the burning sensation in my mouth. I can eat decently spicy food but that tom yum was too much for me. The toast was BOMB DOT COM. It was so good that I think they got me addicted to it. I came back again for another two times after that to get the pandan toast. I cannot get enough of it. For those who love their real Thai spicy food and have no dietary restrictions. Tea Cup Cafe has a lot to offer. For example, their noodles are very good. Do try their duck noodles and boat noodles. You will be addicted to it as well. :D If you are looking for a fancy/ intimate place to take your date, this place is casual and nothing special about it but cute for a weekend afternoon chat. It is a nice place to catch up with friends too. Just remember, it is super casual and not fancy. The staff here are nice and easy going.

Yelp
Came here on the night of my bday to try something new and have fun at a place with my nickname! Unique, it certainly is. I wasn't sure what to expect, but it was great to find out. My boo and I walked down 77th St and the side of the awning says coffee shop, but that does not mean you're at the wrong place. Turn to the right 90° and it says Tea Cup Café! Upon entering, the space is small but welcoming. There is anroma, but I couldn't tell what from. My best guess is the kitchen. To the right are tables with stools and bench wall seating. Directly in front of you looks like a greeter booth, but it's where they stow away the electronics so you can enjoy your meal with beautiful music. On the wall above the customers are blackboards with the menu items. Some of the foods are labeled in such a way that one still has no idea what it is. But, the girls behind the counter are able to help you make a decision. There are lots of noodle soups with your choice of meat. And lots of bubble teas which are organized by milk bubble teas and green bubble teas. I had the Thai bubble tea and it most definitely complimented the beef and egg noodle soup I ordered. Btw, you get to choose your noodles from a small list. I thought that was cute and fun. Directly at the far end on the wall are desserts and sweet happenings. To the left is sort of a picnic bar area. They have the napkins, straws, utensils, etc alongside the counter. Part of the counter area is where you can place your order. Behind the counter on the wall is another blackboard with breakfast items. I kind of wish I did that, but I'm also glad for my unique experience. The food: So, if you're interested in trying new things in one dish this place is for you. The beef and egg noodle soup has a dark brown stock with three types of beef lurking in it. The egg noodles were yumm. I found beef meat, beef organs, and beef sausage in my soup! I fed my sausage pieces to my boo. He liked them. They also added some scallions and green stalks that I couldn't tell what vegetable it was from, but I'm thinking it might be broccoli. I can't say that I was pleased by the triple threat soup. It was a unique and interesting experience. I only really liked the beef meat part of the three. I ate as much beef liver as I could stomach. The Thai bubble tea really helped me out with that in battling against the taste. I'm afraid to eat anything with the label of sausage or bacon even if it's not created from a pig! Also, the more soup you consume or ingest the saltier the broth becomes. Thai bubble tea helped with that until I just couldn't and wouldn't slurp up any more. My boo got the duck and (not fried) vermicelli noodles soup. I noticed he had duck meat, duck skin, duck organs, and tofu! I tried a piece of the duck meat but it was too gamey for me. We also had the option of ordering a medium or large bowl for the soups. We both chose medium. My boo, (un)fortunately was served with a large bowl despite his original request. I'd definitely come back for some bubble tea, maybe try a dessert or breakfast item, but no soup for me! Afterwards, we walked out into the frigid weather and took a short walk through the area. Lots of Thai places there to try too. Perhaps next time! Happy eats!

Yelp
I've been coming to Tea Cup Cafe since they opened in 2012! They started off with a simple menu of coffeeshop items and have since expanded the menu to highlight the owners' love and expertise to cook authentic Thai food. Currently the hot items are noodle soups, spicy rice dishes, and noodles with curry sauce. On my recent visit I tried the pork noodle soup with thin noodles and was blown away. This is one of my favorite Thai noodle soups and this is one of the top versions I've ever tried. Another one of my favorites is the tom yum noodle soup which I'm going to try on my next visit. Because you can't leave here without trying one or more of their desserts, I also got the pandan filled crepe, the mountainous shaved chocolate (Ovaltine) shaved ice , and a watermelon juice . My favorites are the cold desserts! Their shaved ice desserts are the best! Other desserts they do well that are served hot are the toasted breads and the pandan custard!!! I love that their custards are homemade from scratch. Quality food at quality prices for those who are in a rush or want to lounge in the cozy shop. There's no waiter service - you order, pay, pick-up food, eat, and go. I'm so glad this is more than just an after-dinner spot (at least that what it was for me). Now savory items by the talented owners can be enjoyed as well. The cafe is open late and worth the trek to Queens and to this neighborhood which is evolving into a mini Thai town. Looking forward to my next visit!

Yelp
Came here just for sweets but there's a minimum spend per person which is extremely hard to hit with the desserts they have. The toasted bread was good but the ice we tried Thai ice was definitely too sweet and we were not able to finish it.
google avatar

Joseph T.

Yelp
I would rate Tea Cup Cafe four and a half stars. I ordered the fish tom yum. This soup is the Thai version of a Japanese ramen or a Vietnamese pho. The soup had a mild flavor. There were some hints of celery. I ordered it with medium spiciness and the spiciness level was just right. I'm not sure which pepper was used but I definitely felt it in my sinus since I used 6 napkins. There were a lot of ingredients in the soup including fish cakes, green onions, bean sprouts, and plenty more. The soups were very reasonably priced at under $10 for most of them.

Yelp
One of the best spots for yen ta fo noodles, especially when it is cold out and if you can handle Thai spicy. They have an outdoor area and it is BYOB. The service here is amazing too. I also recommend doing their sukiyaki hot pot, bbq and their toast with pandan custard. They are CASH ONLY.

Yelp
They had my previous review removed. So I'm writing it again. The quality of food from this restaurant went downhill after Covid. I've been coming to this place since I moved to NY back in 2014 when they only sell deserts. They used to make the best shaved ice in town but it's not the same lately. They now have a minimum per customer and force customers to order more. The waitresses there hate their job. The owner's daughter or niece is a stuck up. Me and my friends decided to not ever come back after 8 years of us coming here for desert.

They have a Thai noodle hotpot price that starts at $15.The base soup tastes like tom yum soup and I try the pork and jumbo shrimp hot pot. The price's a bit higher compared with the portion but overall it's pretty good

Yelp
Must try. Hot pot! A herbal Thai style soup with pork, shrimp, cabbage and glass noodles. Refresh your day with fancy hot pot and iced green tea. And don't forget to try a grilled bread with a pandan custard. Friendly service.

Yelp
Tea Cup Cafe looked like a cute neighborhood place, but unfortunately, my friend and I were disappointed by how sweet the things we got were. We got the shaved ice, a dish anyone who knows me knows I love, with the red syrup, and it was so disgustingly sweet. The toppings of pudding, grass jelly, and lychee jelly were solid, but not enough to salvage the entire dish. Between the two of us, we didn't even come close to finishing it. My friend also got a lychee tea, which was also a little too sweet, although not as disgustingly sweet as the shaved ice. My friend also ended up throwing it out, and we hate wasting food. It's a shame, because the menu seemed so promising.

Yelp
Food tastes always good but there was one waitress from thanksgiving 2022 was super rude and I didn't like her service so I tipped $3 so she aggressively asked me to tip her 18% even though her service was horrible and nightmare which made me extremely uncomfortable. The reason she forced me to tip more and was rude to me so I gave 1 star to this cafe. This business will fail because of this unpleasant waitress. Be careful when you hire a waitress.

Yelp
Wanted a nice cup of cold refreshing Thai Iced Tea and this was the place to get me some after a long hot humid day. There were a couple of Thai restaurant around this street. Need sweet treats and drinks. The Tea Cup Cafe is a quaint small eatery. It was pretty warm inside even with all the windows open. They had fans blasting but it was still too hot for me after walking through the area looking for lunch and my sugar fix. They serve all kinds of drinks and asked if you want bubbles with it. Decided not to go for the bubbles this time. Large Thai Ice Tea was $3.75 and gave me that kick I need to get through the rest of the day. Hung up at the wall was a collection of Furbie dolls which was kind of cool and made the place warm and fuzzy. Contemporary Chairs and small tables which made if feel like a little cafe. Will be back to try their desserts and green tea crepe.

Yelp
Solid place to chill on a nice summer day and enjoy some fresh desserts! The space is open air, with dark wooden accents and bar seating that lay out to the neighboring Thai restaurants. Service is quick and prompt, and menus are hand drawn on the side of the restaurant. Although they serve their fair share of dinner and lunch items, we went straight for dessert. The large bingsoo comes with ALL the toppings listed, which includes taro, red bean, sweet corn, and grass jelly. Be ready to share; it comfortably feeds 3-4 people. They flavor it heavily with "red" or "green" syrup, which tastes as non-descript as it sounds. The ice itself was irregularly shaved. The better of the two would definitely be the honey toast; each piece of freshly toasted white bread was laiden with honey and chocolate syrup to give a satisfyingly warm and sweet crunchy bite. Fresh bananas, blueberries, and almond flakes sprinkled our plate- whipped cream and ice cream are also there for accompaniment. In all, a decent place to share cheap desserts in the Elmhurst area. I'll be back for the chill vibe and to try their other dessert items!

Yelp
I really wanted to like this place, but the owner is rude and respectful. The first time I went with a friend and got slushies and dessert. After 1 hour we told us we had been there too long, even though there were still empty table. I figured maybe he was having a bad day. I went back a week later by myself, I had biked from Brooklyn and was starving, so ordered a chicken larb. Chicken larb is lightly grilled minced chicken, onion, in a lime juice chili sauce and mint. When it came out it was fried chicken with onion and chili sauce. I mentioned that's not what normally larb looked like, and the waitress just shrugged, said Fried chicken larb (not a thing btw) and walked away. At that point I was absolutely starving, and anything was better than nothing. I also have a lot of friends who work in kitchens, so I rarely send back food, because I know what happened when... The waitress came by again 10 mins later to refill my water and I mentioned again that this is not what the larb was like when I went to Laos. She said, we're out of minced chicken. WHY COULDN'T YOU HAVE SAID THAT BEFORE I ORDERED? They literally waited until I was half way through eating before saying that. I would have just ordered something else. So at the end of the meal, I paid, and then went to talk to the owner. He wasn't there as far as I could see, so I gave her a tip and said- I know this isn't your fault but it's not cool to try and trick me into thinking fried chicken larb is a thing because you guys ran out of minced chicken. Then the owner came out, and was upset I was talking to her, so I readdressed him, and told him exactly the same thing, and all he did was YELL at me for talking to her not him. I said didn't see you, and this is still not acceptable- I still paid her AND gave her a tip because it wasn't her fault and he just kept yelling at me until I left. So unless you want to be treated like an idiot, tricked into some fake Asian dish because they don't think you're smart enough to know the different, yelled at, and harassed out after 1 hour, don't ever go here. He didn't once apologize for not telling me the minced chicken was out, or say anything to make up for it. If you would like Fried Chicken Larb, I would recommend KFC, they do a much better job and yell at you less.

Yelp
A nice little place that's pretty spacious inside with plenty of seating. A few tables on one side and benches infront of the cashier area. They have a big black board hanging up on the right side wall of their menu, which they offered a good amount of food and drinks. I ordered the banana chocolate boba because the mix really stuck out and you dont see a drink like that often. My friend ordered a thai tea. The banana chocolate was good. Tasted exactly as it sounded. The thai tea was good too I'd like to come back and try their food. But props to the one girl who was working their alone and running the whole place!
