NYC Restaurant Unglo Opens With Thai Hot Pot and Barbecue | Eater NY

"Recently opened in Tribeca, this Thai chophouse serves American-style steaks within a mostly Thai menu, and dipping a fatty piece of rib-eye into their tart-savory jaew sauce is “chef’s kiss.”" - Mahira Rivers

We recently tried this new Thai restaurant and had a wonderful experience. The menu has a nice selection, and we ordered a few simple dishes along with desserts — everything was fresh and flavorful with a little spice. The staff are amazingly friendly, making us feel very welcome. The restaurant itself is spacious, comfortable, and very beautiful. A great place to enjoy a meal for sure ! We had a great time.

This new Thai restaurant in Tribeca is seriously worth going out of your way for. It somehow nails that perfect mix - it’s elevated enough for date night but still super chill for a casual dinner with a group of friends. The skirt steak and papaya salad are amazing and packed with flavor. The crab fried rice is another winner. All of the dishes are perfect for sharing and the service was great. Staff here was so friendly and love how they recommended their favorite dishes. If you haven’t been yet, make the trip downtown. This spot is absolutely worth it!

Experienced an AUTHENTIC Thai Flavor at Teakwood Thai Chophouse in New York City 🌆 The moment you walk in- Wowwww, absolutely modern/Insta vibe with creative menu & authentic flavor. Let’s start with Raw Gulf Shrimp Ceviche, distinctly Thai flavor created a perfect refreshing & zesty taste. Next ❓ Steamed Long Fin Squid 🦑 with red chili-lime sauce. I’m so OBSESSED with the mild, slightly sweet flavor & tender texture. Wowww, Stir Fried Manila Clams, had sweets mild and briny flavor with a tender, meaty texture . Pad Kua Taley, a special Thai seafood stir-fry, had a rich & complex blend of aromatics and fresh seafood. The seafood lovers ❓This is your place ‼️ Don’t sleep on the SPECIAL selection “From The Wok” - Pepper Steak 🥩 I’m absolutely satisfying with the tender beef & savory sauce, omg, this is EVERYTHING 🔥 Leave space for desserts 🍮 Japanese Pumpkin Custard & Vanilla Panna Cotta, not normally available in the Thai Place, but those were AMAZING 🤩 If you’re craving a authentic Thai Food @ is the place for you 👈

Google
Wonderful dining experience at Teakwood chophouse last night! I can say it’s the best addition tribeca has seen in years. Food was fantastic, the menu is concise yet diverse. The Halibut was perfectly cooked and sauce was the best Thai I have ever had. The duck was also delicious. Service was great and welcoming! The space is beautiful and elegant. The staff took very good care of us. Will be back soon 🩷🩷🩷

Best Thai curry we have ever had. My daughter is the most picky eater you can ever find and she ate more than a bowl of rice. Will be back for the duck curry again!

Recently opened. So yummy. Bright flavors and great textures. Particularly yummy shrimp ceviche. Loved the wide noodles. Panna cotta was delectable. Staff was very friendly! Very glad that this place has opened up. Chicken satay bun sauces were so memorable.

Went lunch‑solo to this new spot on Greenwich, and immediately felt fancy from the moment I stepped in, décor was classy enough to make me second‑guess my outfit. It’s fancy enough to make you pretend you’re a food critic. Rather laid‑back playlist–nothing screaming for attention, more like background lounge chatter. Service staff scored straight A’s (are they grading me?), attentive without being clingy. Bar setup feels clandestine, like a story’s about to drop behind the counter. My Pad Sriracha shrimp dish rocked up quickly, flavor and kick were best friends. Left thinking, “Yep, I already miss this place and it’s only day one.”

Yelp
Came here on a Saturday night and although it wasn't hard to make a reservation, they were busy when we arrived at 6:30pm. We had a party of 7 and were seated in the long communal table in the middle of the restaurant as most of the other tables can only accommodate parties of 6 and under. We ordered their crab meat spring rolls, rock shrimp and pork dumplings, crispy tofu, and green papaya salad as appetizers. The crab meat spring rolls were crispy, paired with a sweet chili sauce which I love. But I could hardly find any crab meat inside and i didn't find it anything special. The rock shrimp and pork dumplings I cannot comment because it only came with 4 pieces and my kids ate them all. They're more shaped like shumai more than dumplings and my dumpling loving kids weren't crazy about them. The crispy tofu was a huge let down. I think it's because they opts to cut it into long strips versus cubes and with the moisture from the tofu, it was not crispy at all. The texture was also hard and rubbery and no one wanted to finish it. The papaya salad however, was so good we ordered another one. It was refreshing, fresh, crunchy, and just the right balance between the nuttiness from the peanuts and citrus. It is the perfect appetizer to open up your appetite. For our main, we ordered the following: Drunken Noodles with chicken: pretty standard fried noodles, no "wok hei", and the meat was super dry. Pad See Ew with Beef: similar to the drunken noodles except this is too salty and saucy for my liking. Beef was like beef jerky. Shrimp and crab meat fried rice: flavors were good, but very little crab meat for the price and some do the rice were clumped together which is a big turn off for me. Pan roasted halibut: the fish was surprisingly flaky and moist. Cooked to the right temperature and perfectly seared. However, I feel the curry flavor lacked depth and wasn't rich enough. Grilled branzino: perfectly grilled, skin was crispy and meat was moist and tender. This was my favorite dish for the evening. Pan roasted pork chop: to be honest, the meat was overcooked and it was so dry as evident as soon as we cut into it. I only tried a tiny piece of meat and did not touch the dish again. Grilled skirt steak: the steak was cooked to a perfect medium. It was flavorful but definitely not worth $45. The portion size was very small for the price point and we were all shocked when the food arrive to our table. We ended up needing to order an additional noodle and fried rice and we had 2 young kids in our party. I really wanted to like this place as it looked very promising but it is overpriced with mediocre food. I would say the only thing that stood out was their fish dishes. Aside from food, our server was great and checked in with us throughout the night without being too disruptive. Gratuities were also automatically added for parties of 6 and over. I was fairly disappointed and would probably not return. There are a lot of Thai restaurants in the city that's cheaper and with better quality food.

Yelp
Full-on droolapalooza from first bite to last. Pan Seared Duck Breast : Crispy skin, melt-in-your-mouth inside. Sauce? A 100000/100. Curry Puff: Golden, flaky, stuffed with flavor. Next level! Left no crumbs. Thai Steak Tartare with wonton chips - Bold, flavorful, perfectly balanced. Ngl, This dish deserves its own Netflix special. Grilled Branzino - Fresh, flawless, don't even think about skipping it Service? 10/10. Friendly, professional, and on point. Decor? Serving looks just as good as the food. Every plate hits! Deserves an encore. Will be back soon

Yelp
I enjoyed this Thai restaurant. To me it is a healthy modern Thai restaurant with a nice, inviting ambiance. The dishes I ordered were the Steamed Vegetable Medley and the Sauteed Fresh Beans (string beans). Both dishes were healthy (the steamed vegetables only had a little bit of coconut milk) and the string beans had very minimal oil, which was nice. Possibly I wish there were slightly more intense flavors or more sauce, but there was something nice to the subtlety. It made me savor it a bit more. The interior has warm lighting and high ceilings. It isn't one of those super cozy, super dim lighting spots, but the brightness fits with the freshness of the food. It feels very inviting. And both times that I went it was filled with people. Also, the hostess and staff with whom I interacted were very nice. It is in a great location in Tribeca, near well-established restaurants, making the walk to and from enjoyable and safe. This seems like a great lunch spot, any day dinner place, and date night spot.

Yelp
Teakwood Thai Chophouse is a Thai restaurant in the TriBeCa 'hood, taking over the space that was once was Viet Cafe. They offer a pretty extensive menu, including lunch, dinner, and drink options. We stopped by for an early dinner, ordering the following starters to share within our group: +Crabmeat Spring Roll - aka, Popia Pu Tod; filled with corn, glass noodles, cilantro, and carrots in a wrapper, served with chili plum sauce +Grilled Chicken Satay Steamed Buns - aka, Gai Satay Mun Toa; filled with turmeric-marinated chicken and served with a peanut curry sauce and cucumber relish +and, the Beef Cheek Steamed Buns - aka, Mun Toa Kam Wua; filled with slow-cooked beef cheeks, and served with cucumbers and a Sriracha chili sauce For our mains, we tried: +Shrimp & Crabmeat Fried Rice - prepared with jasmine rice, egg, broccoli, scallions, onions, soy sauce, and chili fish sauce +Pad Thai with Shrimp - prepared with thin rice noodles, egg, bean sprouts, tofu croutons, garlic chives, peanuts, and a tamarind palm sugar sauce +the Pad See Ew with Beef - prepared with flat rice noodles, egg, collard greens, broccoli, and yellow bean soy sauce +Yellow Curry with Shrimp - aka, Kang Karee; with fingerling potatoes, cippolini onions, carrots, Brussels sprouts, and a turmeric coconut milk curry broth +and, the Pan Roasted Filet Halibut - aka, Kang Kha Kati Pla; with crabmeat, galangal, and a coconut and curry sauce; this came with a choice of a side dish, so went for one of their specials, the Coconut Milk Baked Potato Gratin, prepared with potatoes, scallions, and coconut milk We ordered each of the desserts for our group - the Black Sesame-Sea Salt Panna Cotta, the Coconut Milk Mousse Mango Parfait with Basil Seeds and Graham Crackers, the Roasted Pineapple Clafoutis, and the Gelato with Thai Fruit Jam. You can request the spice level, in which we stuck to the 'medium spicy' range. Our friends indulged in some of their beverages, in which they enjoyed. Staff are friendly and attentive, and checked upon us throughout our dining experience; the space is super cute and modern with comfortable seating arrangements. Note that an automatic gratuity is added to your bill if you have a party of 6 or more. A nice place for a group get-together, as the staff handled our party well. Reservations can be made online for convenience. +shareables +good for group get-togethers +friendly & attentive staff +reservations accepted

Yelp
Showed up alone on their opening day, felt fancy from the moment I stepped in, décor was classy enough to make me second‑guess my outfit. Music was low enough I could eavesdrop on my own thoughts, which was... nice. Bartender's workstation looked like a hidden vault of cocktail secrets - spy thriller vibes. Server was tops, no hovering, no disappearing, just perfect timing. Pad Sriracha with shrimp arrived lightning‑fast, spiciness balanced like a Thai‑Italian rom‑com. Left excited and ready to plan "bring your people here" days.

Yelp
Amazing food. Super pleasantly surprised as an Asian myself. Service was also very attentive. Definitely worth a try.

Yelp
Decided to try out this new restaurant and the inside is very modern/pretty. We went in a party of 5 (adults) and asked how much we should order if we wanted to all share, and the waitress said 3 starters & 3 mains. We ended up getting 3 starters & 4 mains, and glad we did! All of the food was great, except I wouldn't recommend the shrimp ceviche. We also got the shrimp and pork dumplings, satay steamed chicken buns (favorite starter), plus Halibut, pad Thai with shrimp, pad kua taley, & green curry chicken. We also got dessert: clafoutis (very good but small) and pumpkin custard (didn't try). On the drink side, the Fa-rang cocktail was OK, plus we got wine. Whether it was the wine or food, I feel like they could have offered us more and we would have gotten it! I guess you never know but we ended up sitting and chatting an extra hour after paying and they never came by to see if we wanted anything else. Seems like a missed opportunity. Restaurant definitely wasn't full on a Tuesday night but we weren't alone either.

Yelp
The crab shrimp fried rice was excellent. The chicken larb was too spicy and salty. Glad to have some new good Asian food places in the neighborhood!

Yelp
This is an out-of-control amazing restaurant. One of the best in the city. I would say it's a hidden gem, but people have definitely discovered it already. Unbelievable food and service.

Yelp
Great service the minute I walked in. Everyone greeted me. Lovely place! Definitely coming back! Thx all!

Lis B.

Yelp
I have to admit that some of the dishes, like the sauteed french beans with preserved radish (cai-pu, in Mandarin Chinese), are authentic and taste just like home-made. However, I do not think making the service like a high-end place, and charging the prices they charge justifies the type of food served. If you want some authentic thai dishes, or some home-cooked style south-east asian food, you really don't need to spend so much money. If you want to feel being served, having plates and cutlery switched out after every few morsels, this is the place for you.

Lily T.

Yelp
Amazing food. The beef salad was one of the best I've had. We ordered family style dining, and every dish was demolished, so that speaks for itself. Service was also great. Courteous and respectful. It was just an all around great night. Will be back for sure.

Jaanvi c.

Yelp
The food and service was great! We got the green curry and pad thai as takeout - can't wait to go again and eat in the restaurant.

Brett P.

Yelp
This is the best Thai food I've ever had in NYC. Have both dined in and gotten delivery from here. Exceptional food, and great service. 10/10

Yelp
Thai food is my fav, so me and my friend wanted to try this new restaurant in Tribeca so we ordered pad Thai and pad Thai sera racha. Pad Thai tasted sour and smells old. Had a little and took the rest home but when tried to eat at home it tasted spoiled. It's not worth the amount and time. Had very bad first experience. Will not order again.
