What a wonderful way to start a beautiful night out at the Arsht! It was my first time going to Teatro and I was skeptical upon reading so many negative reviews but had a wonderful experience. Whoever is saying $55 is not a good deal for a delicious appetizer and main course in a beautiful serviced restaurant conveniently located in a theater steps away from your show must not get out much these days or just living in the past…it’s extremely difficult to find this kind of pricing in a nice downtown/Brickell restaurant. I also think the menu, although prix fixe, has tons of options.
Our experience started off wonderful from the start with the amazing service from Laticcia. I came in already a bit a stressed because the metromover got delayed so we were almost 15 minutes late to our reservation. Laticcia immediately put my mind at ease assuring me service was very quick as they’re mindful of the show time and we had plenty of time. And she was right! I really appreciated Laticcia’s enthusiasm for recommending me various dishes, as I was torn between a lot of the options. She was very smart to recommend my husband and I both get an appetizer to try more appetizers and instead buy a dessert additionally and share it. The perfect amount of food. We had the shrimp and the tamale appetizer, both amazing! I chose to have the steak and my husband had the pasta dish. Both delicious! I also see complaints about the portioning of the food - I found the portions to be perfectly acceptable and was not hungry at all. It wouldn’t make sense to have giant portions resulting in leftovers since you’re going to a show immediately after. The bread pudding was our choice for dessert and it was beautifully presented with a little boat to pour the sauce over. One surprising thing from the meal was the bread - it was so delicious and perfectly salted! I could have eaten four of them!
I also really appreciated the decor - a beautiful homage to the theater both in the ambiance but even the menu had a beautiful theater motif. I was very surprised to see so many people coming in with less than an hour before the show, some even 30 minutes before showtime! The restaurant definitely started to pick up very shortly before showtime and servers got noticeably stressed. Please be mindful of your servers and try to come at a reasonable time before the show. They are working very quickly, but they and the kitchen are not superhuman and not giving enough time to be served will also downgrade the quality of service and possibly the food.
Overall, I absolutely recommend Teatro and am shocked by the negative reviews! The food is portioned appropriately, priced appropriately for the area and convenience, delicious with so many options, and service was exceptional. I’ve already made our next reservation for when we see the musical in Chicago!
