Mezcal & tequila cocktails are served in a speakeasy setting with a patio above a Tex-Mex eatery.
"Perched over Schoolhouse Pub, this Cherrywood mezcal bar offers a solid $6 happy-hour michelada, a $7 margarita, and an impressive collection of mezcals. Sit indoors for an intimate, speakeasy-like experience or outside on the elevated patio." - Reese Oxner
"This Cherrywood mezcaleria helmed by the owners of Tex-Mex restaurant Mi Madre’s can be found through the side patio of the ground-level Schoolhouse Pub bar. Climb the stairs to sample mezcal from Copitas in the candlelit room. Bargoers can also enjoy the best of both worlds by sipping margaritas on the cute rooftop patio." - Darcie Duttweiler
"Enter through the side of Blackland neighborhood bar Schoolhouse Pub and find this mezcal-dedicated bar. Enjoy drinks in the brass-lined, candelabra-lit room or sip on a cocktail upstairs on the rooftop patio. There are indoor and outdoor dine-in areas." - Clara Wang
"Techo is a mezcal bar in Austin that has been part of the city's mezcal scene since 2015, offering a variety of mezcal drinks." - Clara Wang
"For an intimate, speakeasy-style mezcaleria experience without all the crowds, head to Techo on Manor Road. The ceilings are low, the room is dark—minus the glow of prayer candles that are on each of the small, iron tables—and there’s a cute rooftop patio that looks out over the parking lot and garden of Este next door. As you might expect, the menu is agave-leaning, but in addition to mezcal flights served in clay copitas, you can also grab watermelon mezcal daiquiris and maracuyu margaritas. There’s no food here, but they’ll let you order chips and queso from Tex-Mex spot Mi Madre’s (which they also own) on the ground floor. To get to Techo, enter from the side patio of Schoolhouse Pub.
