Southwestern grill with prime rib sandwich, duck flautas, cocktails

"Not to be confused with Teddy’s in Cherrywood, this Teddy’s is in Rosedale and serves Southwestern cuisine like ancho chile salmon and duck confit flautas." - nicolai mccrary, matthew jacobs
"Teddy’s is the type of neighborhood bar where you’ll want to hang around for a while. It feels a little like grabbing drinks in a 1970s living room, complete with cozy sofas, lots of brown and green, and plaid-patterned wallpaper (but modern prices). It’s located on a busy stretch of Cherrywood across from a few other bars and restaurants, but thanks to a dedicated parking lot, you never have to stress about getting there." - nicolai mccrary

It feels a little like grabbing drinks in a 1970s living room—complete with cozy sofas, lots of brown and green, and plaid-patterned wallpaper (but 2024 prices). It’s located on a busy stretch of Cherrywood across from a few other bars and restaurants, but thanks to a dedicated parking lot, you never really have to stress about getting there. Try the Breeze Terrace Colada, a frozen cocktail with ube cream of coconut that’s just refreshing enough to get you through a warm Austin evening." - nicolai mccrary, matthew jacobs
"Chef-owner Daniel Berg marries the platonic ideal of a French bistro in the decor of Teddy’s with the menu of an all-day cafe, done Americano-style. Brunch offerings include short, sweet, and classics: eggs Benedict, mushroom carnitas frittata, and huckleberry pancakes. Most intriguing are the stuffed quail and waffles dish and the Midland dip, shaved prime rib served on a jalapeño and cheddar bun. The cane-wrapped chairs on the patio and bistro seats in the main dining room help define the French bistro atmosphere." - Nadia Chaudhury
"Not to be confused with the cocktail bar in Cherrywood with the same name, Teddy’s is a cute restaurant in Rosedale from the team behind Bill’s Oyster and Bill’s Dips. There’s a bit of overlap among the concepts—you’ll find both oysters and burgers at Teddy’s—but this menu is mostly dedicated to the Southwest. That means dishes like wild mushroom quesadillas, ancho chile salmon, and king ranch casserole. It’s set in an old, renovated storefront with checkerboard floors and cozy wallpaper, and it can get pretty noisy. Still, this is a nice place to catch up with friends over a casual (but slightly pricey) dinner or brunch, with a wide selection of crowd-pleasers that are a little more exciting than your typical neighborhood cafe. Food Rundown Cocktails We’ve enjoyed all the cocktails we’ve tried here, especially the Ocean Front Property In Arizona made with roasted jalapeño rum, pistachio orgeat, pineapple, and lime. Tuna Ceviche This is a tasty ceviche. The fish tastes fresh, the pineapple is sweet, and the fresh mint and chives mixed in add an herby brightness. photo credit: Nicolai McCrary Crab & Sausage Hushpuppies We like where Teddy’s head is at with this, but ours ended up tasting pretty bitter and burnt on the outside. Lump Crab BLT The MVP on the menu. We’d come back for this BLT alone. There’s plenty of sweet crab, and the bacon is thick and crispy. This is a lunch (and brunch) exclusive, so plan accordingly. photo credit: Nicolai McCrary Red Fish Divorciado Our fish was cooked great, but it could have used a little more salt to really make the dish stand out. photo credit: Nicolai McCrary New York Strip At nearly $60, this steak is priced close to what we’d expect to pay at a steakhouse, but doesn’t pack the same sear or seasoning as a place dedicated to large-format meats. The garlic mashed potatoes are good, though. photo credit: Nicolai McCrary" - Nicolai McCrary
