Check out the Menu for Tejas, Bishop Arts’s New All-Day Taco Destination | Eater Dallas

"An all-day, Texas-focused taco restaurant that opened in the Bishop Arts District, this new spot is the third of four concepts from Exxir Hospitality at 250 North Bishop Street, joining earlier openings Paradiso and Botaniste. Under chef Nick Hurry, the menu highlights locally sourced ingredients—eggs from Dallas, corn tortillas made in Oak Cliff, and grapefruits from McAllen—turned into items like chorizo-and-egg breakfast tacos available all day, vegan Beyond burgers, and classic queso. The drinks list leans into Texas classics, including a Ranch Water (vodka, lime, Topo Chico) and a prickly pear margarita. Most dishes are priced under $7, and the restaurant is open daily from 7 a.m. to 9:30 p.m." - Amy McCarthy

Tejas is a great spot to grab a meal in the heart of Bishop Arts! They have a nice variety of options on their menu, and everything was fresh and delicious. I went on a Sunday evening and made a reservation in advance knowing that there was limited seating inside, however it was pretty empty and a reservation was definitely not needed. I ordered the Jungle Bowl with chicken and it was delicious - will definitely come back for it again. The chicken was juicy and grilled perfectly, and the veggies and rice were fresh. We also ordered guacamole which was delicious. The vibe of the place is lovely - super cute decor. I will definitely be back to enjoy a margarita!

This is a beautiful restaurant that sits on a corner in the bishop arts district. As there are many Hispanic restaurants in this area, I found Tejas to be the one that was open late, sold drinks, and set the ambience I was looking for. There is inside seating as well as outside seating. From the time I opened the door I felt the presence of the staff who greeted us. We were taken to our seating outside. Although it was dark, they had plenty of lighting, they will have a light on the table which also acts as a fan since it’s currently summer and still hot. Everyone was nice and we were pleased with how we were treated and serviced. The food was delicious and the drinks are very tasty and flavorful which hides the alcohol so you can get tipsy quick and not know it. Very delicious It’s family friendly and open until about 11 or longer on the weekends. I’ve seen this restaurant busy so in the day time it’s a big crowd. For parking, we did street parking. There aren’t any parking garages so all you will find is street parking. But there is so much to see in this area you’ll enjoy the walk. I had the bacon wrapped shrimp cooked well done and it was amazing. The chips and salsa was good and spicy (not too spicy), everything was so good.

I was really excited to visit this placr because I had been before and really enjoyed it. I made a reservation for a birthday dinner with my friends and everyone was really looking forward to it. We arrived 10 minutes before our reservation only to find out it was closed, my guess is that it was to put up the Christmas decorations. I wish they would've posted on their social media or their website that it was going to be closed, or at least canceled the reservation. I want to say we'll try again another day, but that lack of communication is really discouraging.

This place was great! The food was delicious and our server was super nice. She described several things on the menu and she was spot on. The atmosphere was fun and lively. The food was delicious! The drinks were good too but they could have had a tad more of a “kick”. I got lucky on a parking spot but be prepared to park a couple of blocks away and walk there but it will be worth the steps. The mini tacos will be my GO TO going forward because I definitely plan to go back!

Came here for lunch with my wife during the week and we both enjoyed our lunch. The atmosphere definitely makes me think this spot would be great for girls night with all the decor and music playing. They bring you free chips and salsa which we loved! The salsa isn’t spicy but it is tasty! We ordered the carne asada fries which we enjoyed! I loved that they used curly fries instead of regular fries and their cheese sauce which I’m assuming maybe they’re queso? Is delicious! Then for our main entrees I had the green pozole that has shredded chicken and comes served with topping such as fried tortilla strips. I enjoyed my green pozole and the soup def hit the spot during this cold weather! My wife had the brisket enchiladas which were great. The corn tortillas they use for the chips and enchiladas taste home made and high quality. The only thing that we considered bland were the sides such as rice and beans. Oh ya my wife also ordered a Paloma which she said was delicious. Overall, service was good, food was good, this place is solid for TexMex.

Google
Loved the vibes in this restaurant! The drinks were very strong which I appreciated 😁 the salsa was the perfect amount of flavor and spice, the only thing off was the actual food itself. The group of people I was with all got different meals and nothing had much flavor to it. Other than that everything was great.

This place was great! The food was delicious and our server was super nice Desirey . She described several things on the menu and she was spot on. The atmosphere was fun and lively. The food was delicious! The drinks were good. I got lucky on a parking spot and was able to get in just in time before more customers started to show up. The Fajitas tacos were the bomb and enjoyed the chips and salsa. I will definitely plan to go back and hope to get Desirey again as my server

Craving Tex-Mex after spending a day of shopping in the Bishop Arts District?? Step into Tejas Tex-Mex for mouthwatering tex-mex entrees and great beverages. The inside of Tejas has a beautiful aesthetic with pretty decor and plants. Tejas also has a relaxing and pretty patio with murals on the side of the building to look at. I ordered the vibrant and fresh taco salad along with a side of delicious elote off the cob. My friend ordered the sizzling fajitas and really enjoyed them! We sat on the patio while enjoying our meal. Tejas has a wonderful happy hour menu with good cocktails. Make sure to add Tejas to your Dallas food list!

Yelp
Food was good service was better. Our server Jo was amazing! Quesadillas were the biggest I ever had! Great place we will be back!

Yelp
Stopped for a late night bite. Enjoyed a few different types of tacos at this comfortable attractive Mexican food restaurant. I ordered a single Vegetarian Taco, mild but tasty. The rest of the party ordered a 12 taco bite size plate. They enjoyed the little mini tacos. The other tacos were flavorful as well. We had 6 people at our table and everyone was satisfied with their order. The drinks were fun and yummy. Decor was pleasant and comfortable and the service was friendly and prompt.

Yelp
This review is all about the hostess service -- or lack thereof. Over the years, we've had more than our fair share of hiccups with reservations at Tejas, but last Saturday took the cake. Around 2:30 pm, we joined a short waitlist for an outdoor table, providing my number to receive a text when our table was ready. While waiting, we wandered through the shops around Bishop Arts, keeping an eye out for the message. When the text finally arrived, we headed straight back, only to be told that the "8-minute grace period" had passed and our table was gone. Their solution? Join the waitlist... again. Now, here's the kicker -- there were clearly open tables both inside and outside. So, naturally, we opted to take our appetite elsewhere. The real issue wasn't the waitlist, the text alert system, or even the 8-minute policy. It was the attitude of the hostess on duty. Her indifference was palpable -- unbothered, unhelpful, and uninterested in doing anything but sticking to the script. This wasn't a one-off experience either; it's a pattern we've noticed time and again at Tejas. For us, long-time neighborhood locals, this was the last straw. Next time, we'll head to Veracruz Cafe or any of the many other Bishop Arts spots where neighborly charm isn't just a tagline -- it's a way of doing business.

Yelp
Cool spot to dip into for bites and bevs. The house chips and salsa was interesting. The chips come with a chipotle/southwest spice on them. Not bad, just different. I ordered the mini tacos. The beef tacos were flavorful and packed a punch.

Yelp
Tejas is a reliable spot in Bishop Arts. The margaritas are some of the freshest tasting in Dallas. They are a nice clear color in contrast to a lot of the greenish ones at other places. The food is always tasty as well! You can't go wrong with any of the options. The bar was taking much longer than usual, and my drink did not come to the table until our food did. The server was apologetic but nothing was comped. The ambiance is very colorful and fun! They also have a decent size outdoor dining space.

Yelp
Really liked this place! Got the taco plate with one tejas taco and one birria taco - smaller bites but really yummy! The consume was a little too salty. Got the cucumber margarita and was refreshing! The service was excellent tho, got seated very quick and our waiter was very kind.

Yelp
Only came for drinks and I was very disappointed in the flavor. 2 of us got lavender mojitos-- this tasted nothing like a mojito and not even a hint of lavender. The only nice thing was that they had pouches to take your drink to go. Would not come back for drinks however.

Yelp
I came to Tejas at the insistence of my brother and his girlfriend, who live in the building directly above it. By brother, a Yelp Elite member himself, confirmed to me that "this is a solid four star establishment, but I think you'll like it." The pretentiousness of that statement aside, I mentally prepared myself for a solid four star experience. Upon entrance we were greeted with a free appetizer (complimentary of living in the building next door) and a server who was quick, charismatic, and highly attentive. So far not 4 star, but there was still room for them to fall. The food came out quickly (another 5 star indicator) and, upon tasting it, was great. More five stars. My brother, increasingly anxious at the exceptional culinary experience unfolding in front of him, began to mumble about a "wholly changed experience" and "the possibility of new management." Afterwards the check arrived quickly, and our party shuffled out full of good Mexican food and a healthy amount of shame.

Yelp
Great flavorful food with refreshing drinks! There is outdoor seating which is perfect for cool fall nights. Our service was quick for a busy Thursday night. I'll definitely hit this neighborhood spot back up again!

Yelp
So I wanna start out this review saying that I have to go back and get the full experience. So, my review is only based on my first time visiting. I came by Tejas after I had already had lunch, to get a dessert and get a spicy margarita that I got for a dollar and one cent because I have a Margarita passport. When we got there, we were seated immediately, and our waitress came by and gave us chips and salsa and water and gave us menus. I ordered my margarita and my friend also got the tres leche cake, which I was really excited about because it is one of my favorite cakes. We snacked on chips and salsa while we waited, and you could tell that the chips were fresh and tasty. The drinks and cake came out quickly, and when I took the first sip of my margarita, I was super impressed. It had a nice level of spicy, but it still had a really good flavor. I also took a bite of the tres leche cake and was super excited because of how much milk was on the plate. But then I was disappointed because it tasted like they had literally just poured the milk and put the cake on top. The cake was dry and was not airy at all. Not what a traditional cake should taste like. The drink I would rated a 7 out of 5, the cake I would have rated a one and a 1/2 out of 5, which is why I gave them 4 stars. I do want to come back and try the food, though. My friend has been here before and said it was excellent. So I look forward to my next visit. And I'll just get a different dessert.

Yelp
Love Tejas happy hour! The service is super friendly and the frozen margaritas are the best around. They offer chips and salsa and $3.00 off their apps during happy hour! Guacamole was delish, but I prefer less red onion in my guacamole. The quesadilla was super tasty too. We can't wait to go back

Yelp
Didn't had a chance to try this place. The hostess didn't gave us an option to another table. They try to sit us next to another table in cramped corner. When we asked about all the other tables that were open she said everything was booked?? I'm here on their page and did not see the reservation options. Everything booked at 4:30pm?

Yelp
Happy Wednesday!! We came in for lunch on a Wednesday. Parking was easy in a larger parking lot across the way and the decor inside was nice. For our appetizer we ordered loaded queso and it WAS loaded! They served it with tortillas on the side to make little tacos out of it. We enjoyed. It was flavorful and rich. In hindsight, would've shared that with 4 people instead of 2 because it was filling. I ordered a frozen mango margarita that took so long to come out. But when it did it was definitely a cold strong drink. For our entrees we ordered birria taco, chipotle chicken taco and one brisket breakfast taco. Also ordered the brisket enchiladas. Food was fantastic and flavorful! Hefty portions so less would've been better or save one for later. My husband's taco was a bit soaked with juices to the point it was dripping. Not my style but he was okay with it. This was a restaurant on my list to visit in Bishop Arts and it was decent. Cons: Our service (even upon entering) was slow. Our server didn't know the menu well because she was newer. We'd likely return for drinks and the loaded queso in the future!

Yelp
Tejas is one of those places you hate to leave. The decor is hip and comfortable. The food is great. Our server was helpful. My drink was served in a vintage looking glass which added to the charm of this tex mex spot in Bishop Arts

Yelp
The food has improved since the announced change of management which is great but the service is consistently poor. We've been a handle full of times and each time we have to flag down the staff for service.

Yelp
The ambiance and the service is nice. The food was ok too much grease on the mini tacos. The sauces are on fleek!

Yelp
With so many restaurants to choose from in Bishop Arts, it can be hard to decide where to eat. But when in doubt, Tex Mex is always an A1 choice. Tejas is definitely a vibe, with delicious food and drinks to make any lunch or dinner outing a great experience. I made a reservation for 7pm and the night time aesthetics were on point, making me feel like I was vacationing in Tulum or some other tropical destination. We started with the carne asada curly fries. 10/10 for sure. They were perfectly cheesy and the little bits of steak were very tender. Make sure to turn the bowl upside down on a plate because the queso is at the bottom of the bowl. I wanted something light but filling, so the jungle bowl caught my eye. Without a doubt, it hit the spot. It was reminiscent of a chipotle bowl, but slightly elevated. Ask for guac on the side if you order it. It came with avocado but the guac really set it off. The mocktails were great as well. Order the tropical sunrise for a refreshing beverage to cleanse your palette. It was nicely garnished as well, giving the illusion of a legit cocktail. I also recommend checking out the outside cabana bar. I didn't go and regretted it because it looked super vibey and added to the "vacation" feel I mentioned earlier. Save this place as your next spot to try!

Yelp
If you want Tex-Mex done the right way, give Tejas a try and thank me later. First of all, the vibes were 10/10 and I liked the music. We were seated quickly and given chips and salsa to start... What a start. The chips and salsa were amazing. We ordered the carne asada fries as our appetizer and it exceeded my expectations. It's a must try when you visit. For my entrees I ordered the brisket enchiladas, the tejas taco, and the chipotle chicken taco. To drink we both ordered the tropical sunrise mocktail. The star of the show was the brisket enchiladas. What a perfect blend of smoky Texas bbq and delicious Mexican flavor. I really enjoyed the Tejas and chipotle chicken tacos as well, and if you enjoy a tangy and refreshing drink like I do, you should probably get that mocktail. I'll definitely be back to Tejas again so I can try other items on the menu!

Yelp
The ambiance coming in is quite hip and relaxing. Appreciated the complimentary salsa and chips for our incredibly long wait for service. It was a busy weekend, which I don't count against the restaurant. Service was fine besides the long wait. The food was just okay, so didn't feel the wait was worth the experience personally. The mini tacos looked so cute, we couldn't resist ordering it. Surprisingly the chicken was much better than the beef. Not sure what the menu means when it says the original skinny fajita, but it's a fine option if you have diet restrictions and are prioritizing a clean diet over flavor.

Yelp
I've been here many times and have never had a bad experience. The Baja fish taco plate is a significant amount of food and delicious! I really enjoyed the homemade corn tortillas and the beans always hit. My friend devoured her steak fajitas! We both got Paloma's on the rocks, which are very inexpensive during happy hour! Our server Kevin was knowledgeable about the menu and made it a great experience for us. Also a very instagramable place if you want somewhere aesthetic!

Yelp
It was a rainy Friday night and we walk in without reservations and we were instantly seated! The interior does take me too a texmex world. The chips and salsa are always a hit! We love them everyone we come here! I got the same dish i got last time, but something about this dish wasn't as amazing as last time. I think the brand and rice were a bit bland/flavorless. The rice was just white rice, kind of disappointing. The tacos were great though. I think another thing i noticed were the portion sizes were a bit in the smaller side. I guess not everything is bigger in Tejas. Anyways, The chips and salsa are where it's at. We live close to Bishop Arts, so i think we will be back again!

Yelp
I've lived down the street from here for a coupe years but tonight was my first time trying. The service was prompt and friendly. I ordered the Tejas taco and pozole. My friend got the 12 mini tacos. Overall the food was tasty. I've admittedly had better beef and pozole but for a nice vibe and a place that isn't too expensive it's a good spot.

Yelp
Ate here while enjoying the Tipsy Elf pop-up bar. We ate outside to avoid the wait. It was cold but tolerable due to the outdoor heaters. The food was great. I had the brisket tacos. My bestie had the steak fajitas. They were good, as well. The waitress was awesome. I definitely recommend this spot.
google avatar

Yelp
Tacos are my favorite food! But unfortunately the corn tortillas were cold, so I couldn't enjoy them! I liked the ambiance and the service was very good!

Yelp
My friend and I were exploring different parts of Dallas and we landed here at Tejas for lunch. It was a Saturday so there was a 45 minute wait. However we were never called, we had to go back up there to the podium because I believe that the hostess forgot about us because she couldn't find our name. It's okay, it's a Saturday and it was busy. We finally sat down and our waitress was so sweet giving us recommendations. We both got tacos (can't remember the names) but it was super good. We also had a hibiscus drink to wash everything down. Our food service was fast and efficient. We also grabbed a flan and I really enjoyed it. It wasn't too hard in texture.

Yelp
Stumbled upon this spot as I was wandering around Bishop Arts on a pretty day. As soon as I walked in and saw the cute, Instagrammable decor, I knew I was in for a treat...or at least good pics. I happened to stop by during their weekend Happy Hour--a selection of discounted drinks and bites. On Sat. and Sun. it's from 3-5 PM. I chose two of their breakfast tacos, and my fave was the Potato, Bacon, Egg, and Cheese one. Both were topped with pico de gallo. This was served with rice and beans. I almost wanted to order another serving of sides, and another taco but I controlled myself. Oh, and the music was great too! All in all, a solid choice if you're wandering around B.A.D.

Yelp
Food: 12 mini tacos. Great but salsas could be spicier. Order 6, because although small, they are packed. Ordered 3 drinks - best to good 1) cucumber margarita w/ tajin rim 2) Sandia Dulce shot 3) Lavender mojito When able always sit at the bar for personalized experience and attention/recommendations Ask for Sheila for great recommendations.

Yelp
Found this place while exploring Bishop Arts on Sunday afternoon. The interior and exterior of the restaurant is very cute and nicely decorated. I really liked all the decorations, glassware, and plating. The prices were on the higher end for Tex-Mex food. Our waiter was very attentive and nice. I am giving it 4 stars because the food was very MID, but everything else was great (including the chips and salsa). The Brisket and Queso enchiladas lacked real flavor, especially compared to the hundreds of Tex-Mex spots in Dallas. You really are just paying for the ambiance and the drinks at this place, and wouldn't recommend it if you want really good food. Would I come back? Yes, but just for drinks and maybe an appetizer.
google avatar

Marvin C.

Yelp
The vibes here are a 10/10 with the pricing being on the higher side. $16 plates with only two tacos and $19 for only two enchiladas. That being said, the chips and salsa were so flavorful and filing. When our enchiladas arrived, we thought they were quite small for the price (TexMex plates are usually huge) but once you get going, you understand the price. I have never tasted enchiladas like these before! A completely new flavor that blew me away. We were surprisingly full after since the plate came with a small portion of borracho beans THAT WERE ACTUALLY VERY FLAVORFUL and rice. 10/10 would recommend these enchiladas.

Yelp
Wow! I can't believe this is my first restaurant review in over a couple of years. Recently, I met a friend for lunch, and we stumbled upon Tejas while walking around and looking for a place to eat. As we entered the restaurant, we immediately felt welcomed by the inviting atmosphere. I noticed a cozy large table in the front window that would be perfect for people-watching while enjoying a delicious meal with friends. The open decor, outdoor seating, and exciting menu made the place even more inviting. We started with a couple of drinks: the frozen Paloma made from Tequila, grapefruit juice, and agave, and an order of Guacamole. The drinks were fantastic - frothy, potent, and delicious! After chatting and sipping our drinks, we were ready for lunch. I ordered tacos, of course! I had the Pastor and Carnitas tacos with corn tortillas. The Pastor taco was fantastic. The pork was nicely crisped and very tender, and the flavor was there in every bite! The Carnitas taco was equally delicious. The moist and flavorful pork combined with the pickled jalapenos added a wonderful layer of flavor to every bite. Tejas is an excellent spot for a relaxed lunch or dinner with friends and family. I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a cozy and inviting atmosphere with delicious drinks and food.

Yelp
Nice patio seating that allows dogs. Every single part of The Tejas Taco platter was amazing. Rice and beans: fantastic. Brisket: delectable. Homemade corn tacos: exceptional. And you can just scan a WR code to pay which is mighty convenient.

Yelp
Brisket tacos were great, ask for Jo, she was an amazing server, so funny and hospitable! Would recommend!

Yelp
Drinks, service, and environment were 10/10. Food definitely lacked flavor. I had the cucumber margarita which was great, they make their drinks fresh with fresh ingredients. For food I had the brisket, pastor and baja fish tacos. They were okay.

Yelp
Just came in from a quick bite and a cocktail , ending up having 2 of the frozen margaritas with mangor and strawberry flavoring . They were good and the ceviche and guacamole was delicious! Yelp
After a terrible experience at another restaurant down the way, we found ourselves here for lunch. The food was good but I am shocked at the prices for the portions of food. The queso was decent but had more of a heavy cream flavor rather than cheese. The chicken fajitas were so small. The chicken was like a quarter of a chicken breast. We asked for extra onions and did not receive them. The rice was basically flavorless. However, the homemade corn tortillas were delicious. Margaritas ($15 each... again.... Why?) The service was great and everyone was so friendly. It wasn't too loud or crowded even though they were pretty busy. I absolutely would come back to try something else.

Yelp
I visited Tejas for the first time a few years ago when they first opened. I was not impressed with the quality of their food so I hadn't been back until tonight. I was in Bishop Arts and a friend had previously mentioned Tejas had improved after they revamped the restaurant. I asked the female hostess for a table, to which she replied I would have to "wait 45 minutes to be seated indoors or I could sit on the patio, but the heaters don't work and it is cold out. And they did not have enough menus." So I was told I would have to wait on a menu to order and the menu was not posted online, which I found odd. I have never been to a restaurant and they ran out of menus, especially since the restaurant was only halfway filled with customers. I also found it odd that the male hostess said the restaurant didn't have a menu posted on the website or some sort of QR code to scan to view the menu. I was fine being seated outside, and to my surprise, I was even seated next to a working heater. I will also note that I saw a gentleman replacing propane tanks in a few heaters while seated outside. Several minutes go by, and I have yet to receive a menu. After a few more minutes, the female hostess brings out a couple, who is seated next to me, and to my surprise, in her hand are two menus to order food. I was a little perplexed at this, because I was told they did not have any menus at the moment, and I would have to wait to receive one before I could order my food. I decide to walk up to the hostess desk, which, I noticed as I'm walking up, menus behind the hostess stand. I asked the male hostess what the holdup was for the menus, as I saw someone seated next to me and the female hostess gave them menus immediately. The guy said he didn't know where the other hostess got the menu from, but he had a couple that he could give to me. At this point I'm very confused as to why the hostesses are trying to hoard menus, I guess for certain customers? I'm not sure what the criteria is for being given a menu at this restaurant. At that point I wasn't even interested in eating at the restaurant. I've never been to a restaurant where they didn't have enough menus, the hostesses are telling me I can't view the menu online, but are also hoarding menus and acting as if they don't want to give them out, or at least to my table. I also checked online, after I left the restaurant, and sure enough a copy of their menu is posted online. I refuse to jump through hurdles to try and order food from a restaurant. It makes absolutely no sense that I was seated at a restaurant without a menu, and the staff wasn't even aware that a menu is posted online. Or if they were aware, they just didn't want to serve people .

Yelp
Worth every penny!! This place is AMAZING!!! The restaurant is clean and has plenty of seating inside and outside. It super cute and well decorated. Everything on the menu sounds so tasty. Every bite is magical! Very authentic! The drinks are even better!! Had a frozen Paloma that is to die for! Staff is friendly and our waiter Kevin was very friendly and easy to talk to. Prices are very reasonable for what you get. This restaurant is located near tons of cute shops. I recommend coming here and spending the day there. A perfect place for all ages. A MUST T

Yelp
Luv luv luved this place! Service was friendly and efficient by our server Gaby. Place is clean and quirky. The food was ridiculously good! I had the fish taco! So tasty and the sauce was not overpowering. The el pastor taco savory and fresh. The chips and queso wow! Mashed up sausage in the queso what a great idea. The skinny steak fajita was tender, flavorful, shingled so pretty... perfect! And the chicken enchilada the red sauce was just right heat wise so much flavor! Will be our to go to place when we visit Dallas!

Yelp
Would recommend for a drink, not necessarily for dinner. What I ordered: Frozen Paloma (Happy Hour) - $7.00 I really enjoyed this drink, strong but not overpowering. Brisket Taco - $6.00 Quite a basic taco. Not bad but not worth $6 in my opinion. Things to keep in mind: - The music is quite loud so I wouldn't recommend for a first date if you really value conversation, but it was great for a casual happy hour catch up with a friend. - Indoor and outdoor seating available. - The main Bishop Arts parking lot is right across the street (free and paid parking spots). I had a nice experience, but am not dying to go back.

Great service, our waitress had a fun sense of humor and our glasses were never empty. I had the tejas taco plate and mezcal Negroni both were flavorful and the tacos filling. The space is cozy with a beachy tropical vibe and lots of live plants throughout. We ended up staying a bit longer and partaking in happy hour and ended the afternoon on the patio. Really enjoyed our time here and will definitely be back!

Yelp
Mediocre, overpriced Americanized Mexican. My wife's cocktail didn't have ice in it, and were served over half empty. Service was slow and overall disappointing.

Yelp
Laid back atmosphere, lovely light through the windows. Servers are pleasant. I got a spicy protein bowl which consisted of brown rice, black beans, steak, pineapple, pickled onions and jalapeños, and a kicky crema. Portion size was responsible. The rice was almost risotto-like in consistency which made the texture of the bowl kind of mushy. Flavor was fine -- sweet, savory, and slightly spicy. Their queso was great.

Yelp
I've had this on my Yelp list for a while, and finally got the chance to stop by with the fam! It was a Thursday night, around 9 PM and all the local restaurants were already shut down. We had gone to Texas theater earlier to see the private viewing of a film my daughter is in. We were also celebrating my dad's 78th birthday. The parking was super convenient with meters around the restaurant, but they were full and there was a free parking lot across the street with plenty of parking. We approached through the back of the restaurant, because I wanted to see the shopping area which was beautifully lit, and with cute tile on the steps. We walked by all the cute outdoor seating with little fans on the table that helped drive away flies. The front entrance was well lit, and the hostess was friendly and actually happy to be there, a true rarity for most restaurants. We sat at a large U shaped booth that was beautifully decorated. I just had to take pics! The QR code for the menu was on the table, and we were able to easily pull it up and navigate the one page to pick out drinks, appetizer, and food. I ordered a michelazo and queso for the appetizer. The queso came in a large bowl with chips, and was plenty for the four of us. It was thick, creamy, and flavorful. It tasted like real queso, not something out of a tin can. The chips were crispy and had a light seasoning to them. They were sick enough to hold the queso, but still thin enough to easily bite into. The queso was delicious! The Michelle Lasso comes with a beer of your choice, and I always get Negra Modelo with Michelada. The spicy tomato mix was perfect with the tajín rim and flavor of the Modelo. I ordered the steak fajitas to share with my teen daughter, my mom got the Tejas taco plate, and my dad got the carnitas plate of tacos. Our fajitas came out, sizzling with grilled onions, rice, beans, sour cream, guacamole, pico de gallo, and flour tortillas. Also ordered a side of jalapeños ($2). The meat was tender and came apart easily, the grilled onions were perfectly cooked and the charro beans or topped with green onions and cheese. The beans tasted good, but the rice lacked any flavor. As my daughter put it, it tasted like cardboard. The rice was disappointing, it was too bland. The flour tortillas were soft, small, and fresh tasting homemade. Both Taco plates for my parents had an abundance of meat in each taco on corn tortillas. They were both impressed at how generous they were with the meat. We all got full on our plates and I even had leftovers after my daughter and I each had two tacos each. The server was helpful, friendly, and readily available. I think there was only one instance where we couldn't find him for a short period of time. He was very accommodating. When I got the check, I saw that I was able to pay via an app I've used before another restaurant and quickly scanned my receipt then used Apple Pay $108. That was so convenient! Every restaurant should have this option! Overall, it was a great experience with good food. I would recommend this place if you're in the neighborhood or would like to take some great media content. The music is festive without being too loud, it's just a fun relaxed ambiance. I'm sure this would make a good brunch spot our girls night out.

Yelp
We were shopping in bishop arts district the new side of it. Found this cute outdoor Mexican restaurant. We say down in the outdoor seating and was served by a very friendly bartender. She recommended the carnitas and veggie taco with chips and salsa. The carnitas taco and salsa was delicious. The only thing is the veggie taco was pretty much cabbage but had no flavor. The frozen margarita was good. Not bad for a quick bite with outdoor vibe in the area.

Yelp
I love Tejas for its bright atmosphere, refreshing drinks, and outdoor seating, but on my last few visits the service outside has been so frustratingly slow that I can't give it a higher rating. - Atmosphere: Tejas is located in the heart of Bishop Arts with fun, Texas-themed decor. They have dog-friendly, outdoor seating that wraps around the restaurant and an outdoor beach shack serving tacos, bites, and drinks with bar and lounge seating in the back. - Service: This is where Tejas falls short for me. The individual servers are always doing their best, but every time I've sat on the patio it feels like we're easily forgotten about. Once, we just came for drinks and we had to go inside to order drinks at the bar because no one came to serve us. Another time, I ordered a taco after the rest of the group and it never arrived, but no one came outside until we were ready to leave so we were unable to bring it to the attention of our server until it was too late. - Food/drinks: When it comes to food, Tejas has something for everyone. I love the ceviche, variety of tacos, and range of classic TexMex mains. I've never been for brunch, but the menu sounds delicious. My go-to drink is the spicy cucumber margarita. It is the perfect mix of spicy and refreshing and is probably one of the best spicy margaritas out there. If you want something zero proof, the mocktails are extremely refreshing. - Value: Tejas' atmosphere gives you the sense of an elevated meal out, but the prices are still reasonable. Despite the service challenges, Tejas will still be a place I frequent in Bishop Arts. If you want to eat inside on a weekend, I recommend a reservation, but I love that it's typically easy to grab a seat on the patio or the beach shack if I'm walking by and in the mood for Tejas.
