"If you’re looking for a SoMa coffee shop with some extra oomph (namely, signature drinks that’d be tough to find elsewhere), head over to Telescope Coffee. Not only does this cute shop offer the usual suspects in coffee — espressos, flat whites, lattes, and more — but there are also non-coffee and coffee-adjacent drinks to take on if you’ve reached your caffeine limit. The seasonal latte offerings change, such as a recent honeycomb latte, but the strawberry milk is regular option and comes served in a cute strawberry-shaped glass, a stunner in both tastes and looks." - Paolo Bicchieri

"Telescope Coffee, known for its honeycomb lattes and decadent pastries, is moving to a larger space in SoMa. Owner Jenny Ngo opened the cafe in 2021 and will relocate in early April. The current location will close on March 18. The new space will allow for pop-ups and more collaboration with other small businesses. Absolutely adorable atmosphere, kind staff, an assortment of seasonal drinks and standards. Very nice in house fresh baked pastries to choose from. Rose latte absolutely phenomenally aromatic and delicious.

Google
Delicious honeycomb latte, melts as you sip so the flavor keeps getting better! Solid coffee, very cute and chill space with good vibes, would def come back and try some of their other drinks and pastries!

Google
Cute coffee shop, great vibe. I got the honey comb coffee, not too sweet and great flavor with oat milk. They have a lot of plants (great contrast with the greenery) and area to play games or read a book.

I absolutely adore this coffee shop. The high ceilings, warm tones, and spacious patio create such a cozy and inviting atmosphere. It’s the perfect spot to relax, catch up with friends, or just enjoy a great cup of coffee.

Google
The honeycomb latte is amazing. A bit pricey, but an excellent coffee that kept its flavor throughout. There was a constant flow of customers and all of the drinks looked amazing. Will be back and may try something new next time

Google
Good coffee friendly staff. The blueberry milk coffee was unique and I’d worth a try. The honeycomb latte was sweet but not overly so - also worth a try. 非常好喝

Cozy, clean and bright, comfortable cafe with a variety of coffee and yummy pastry offerings. A nice place to sit and rest for a while. They have a community bookshelf!

Google
This place is so cute! I had the Pandan Coconut Matcha Latte and a tomato focaccia with cheese, both good, will need to come back to try more! The baristas were super sweet, they have books for you to read and board games to play. It gets a bit busy during noon but service is fast. Worth a visit if you’re in the area ☺️

Yelp
I love the matcha drinks and coffee with honey crumble. The owner and staff are super friendly and very attentive. I keep coming back in this spot because it feels so good to get a cup of coffee or iced drinks and get their focaccia bread and breakfast sandwich. They sometimes will have pop up from other vendors :)

Yelp
This 1 star review goes for a service and terrible hospitality. My friend and I stopped by to get some hot tea during the rain. While I was ordering, my friend asked the cashier/barista if there was a restroom. She responded saying it's for paying customers only. It's obvious we are literally ordering right now. My friend said we're ordering now and she responded saying that we have to pay first in order for her to let my friend use the restroom. I don't know why she has to be so rude about it. I believe service starts when people walk into the place and ruining someone's mood about restroom is not an indicator of the good service.

Yelp
Really sweet staff and a solid flat white. The interior is small but clean and adorable. Service is quick, bathroom is clean. Despite it not being in the best part of SF, it's a really nice space with good coffee. My favorite part of Telescope is their little free library - you can donate books or take them, and someone has put effort into curating them; on a small shelf there are healthy varieties of both fiction and nonfiction. Their focaccia was recommended by the barista, though I didn't get a chance to try their pastries/savories this round. Next time I'm around I'll get the focaccia :)

Yelp
On today's cafe stop I'm trying two new interesting drinks! The first is a cherry foam cold brew that has a nice creamy and tart flavor. My favorite ended being the second drink which is an orange vanilla bean matcha latte. Both were great in their respective profile flavors and def kept me caffeinated. They also have fresh pastries made in house for a yummy snack! The vibes were very chill with some indoor seating and the service was friendly.

Yelp
I've come to Telescope Coffee twice, and the second time wasn't too bad. The first time I've come to this coffee shop was with the bestie. We loved it! I loved their Rose Matcha Latte, but this time it was a bit disappointing. Maybe it was an off day? The Matcha Latte wasn't hittin' it for my friend either. However, we still loved their Rosemary & Tomato w/ Cheese Focaccia. It's a small coffee shop, simple and spacious for a couple of people who want to work there or read. The service is very nice as the first time we came. We will definitely come back and try their other drinks. Give this place a try, I really recommend their focaccia! 4 out of 5 from me for Telescope Coffee.

Yelp
We stopped by Telescope Coffee and had a mixed experience. The staff was friendly, but the location was just okay. The drinks, though, were a hit or miss. I ordered a cappuccino, but it was way off - super foamy and unrecognizable. I've had my fair share of cappuccinos, so I was surprised. The honeycomb latte was...interesting. The honeycomb topping was sticky, but we figured out that letting it melt in your mouth or cup was the way to go. The drinks weren't enough to make us want to return, but we did find some fun games and puzzles in the back that saved the outing. Maybe worth a visit if you're in the area and looking for a casual spot to hang out.

Yelp
A cutie lil coffee shop in SoMa. I would pass it up as I'm driving into the city from 6th St exit and finally made a stop in. I was on the way to a patient's house taking a lyft and had some time to kill. I ordered the matcha rose latte and got a cute foccacia. I thought parking would be horrendous but I was able to find parking twice in the same day. Story time: Came back a few weeks ago to pick up my pre-ordered pandan banana cream pie for thanksgiving. I ordered the pandan coconut milk with matcha, absolutely delicious. I think I found my go-to drink here. Drove to my next patient and came back to the shop about 30 minutes later because my puppy got to the pie and ate half of it in 10-15 minutes. I contemplated on not going back, but I waited for that pie for 3 weeks and I really wanted to taste it. I got the last pie they had available. The pie was so good. I wish it was available more often so I could buy it! Nice quaint coffee shop, plenty of seating, nice staff. Still more drinks I want to try!

Chloe L.

Yelp
Came in about an hour before closing and had a great experience. The drinks were prepared quickly, and the staff was warm and friendly. There was a good amount of seating available, and I noticed several people working on their laptops, making it seem like a nice spot to get work done. Drinks Ordered: Rose Latte (9/10): Delicious with a lovely rose flavor, but definitely on the sweeter side. Flat White: My friend ordered this, and it was his first time trying a flat white, so we don't have a point of comparison--but he seemed to enjoy it!

Carmen U.

Yelp
Telescope Coffee has been on my list to try for their baked goods. I got the honeycomb latte, focaccia, and ube cookie, all for $18. The ube cookie was my least favorite as the ube flavor did not come through and tasted mostly of a crunchy sugar cookie. The sourdough focaccia was my favorite. It had a nice chewy and crunchy texture with classic flavors of rosemary and tomatoes in it. The honeycomb latte was cool to try and paired well with the focaccia.

Yelp
I came to the city to visit my bff and we were looking up "yummy pastries and coffee near me" and this place popped up as a few open on this holiday ... AND I AM SO GLAD WE CAME. Homemade pastries and they had a seasonal blueberry puff that was 10/10 along w their vibrant matcha that I had w blueberry milk ;p

Matthew H.

Yelp
Dropped by for a quick weekday breakfast recently; it's a little small but when I was there, there were plenty of seats still available. I ordered an iced matcha latte. It was OK; I think the flavour was decent but nothing particularly fantastic to note. I think it leaned on the lighter side, so I feel like I shouldn't have ordered iced (since the ice melted quickly and it got too watery). I also had the focaccia with cherry tomatoes and rosemary, which I realised only after the fact that it's one of their specialities? Well, checks out - the focaccia was quite delicious. It was very nicely baked - light, airy, still warm - and the sweet & savoury flavour of the cherry tomatoes paired well with the salty flavour of the focaccia. (Was a bit too oily for my taste, though). Price point was on the high end though, my latte and focaccia came out to $12, which is... fine? But I think more than the quality / size of the bread and drink merited. Also, just as a heads-up , this café is not exactly in the best neighbourhood (to say the least), which is a bit of a deterrent to me returning. Like obviously I know that is not at all related to anything the café itself can do, but I'm just not sure if the focaccia is alluring enough to deal with someone yelling something vaguely racist and/or incoherent from across the street on my way there.

Yelp
This review is just on their drinks. I came here two times after seeing it a couple times on social media. The first time, I ordered a matcha rose latte ($7.25). This might not have been the best drink for me to order because I am not the biggest fan of rose flavor so I may be a bit biased against rose flavored things, but I thought the drink was just alright. I was hoping for a strong matcha flavor, but I did not get that in this drink. I quickly finished the drink, and by the time the drink was gone, about half the cup was just ice. I decided to give this place a second chance as I judged based off a drink I typically don't like that much. I ordered a maple latte ($7.25) and pandan coconut milk ($8.25). The maple flavor of the maple latte was good, but my boyfriend thought the espresso was sour. The pandan coconut milk is so expensive for what it is. The barista asked us if we wanted to add a shot of espresso or matcha to the drink, which would have made the drink over $9! That is way too expensive for a cafe drink. We just got the milk by itself, and it was a 6/10, a bit better than just okay but not quite good. Overall, I would not really come back here again. The drinks are okay to good, but it could get too expensive for cafe drinks depending on what you want. There are plenty of coffee shops in the city that have cheaper prices for the same or even better quality drinks. Also, the location of this shop is a bit inconvenient for me as there are not many frequent bus lines near it, so for both times I came here, it took me 40 minutes to get there by bus when I live no more than 1.5 miles away.

Yelp
Love this place!! The service here is great and the lattes are sooo delicious. I usually get vanilla latte with oat milk and it's made perfectly. The ginger cookie is also my favorite and a great place to come and study or wfh.

Taelor P.

Yelp
I tried this honeycomb flavor which was the most popular and it did not disappoint me! The fact they also put honeycombs in the drink made me love it even more! There was also a business pastry pop up inside, and the selections were hard to choose from but I went with this cinnamon flavored pastry, which was really tasty! Everyone was very welcoming and nice, and it was a cute little coffee shop. I would definitely visit again to try out more of the menu.

Ashleigh R.

Yelp
i'm so happy this location opened up on folsom and 6th! it's a perfect addition to this neighborhood. the coffee is always delicious, as well as the teas! the honeycomb latte is of course, a must try. it's so unique - i've never had anything like it! rhe rose coffee is also quite delicious and you can actually taste the rose. the owner is a gem and has such a cool backstory, growing up in the bay. the seating area is great for a catch up with friends or a little workspace for the day. they get so much great natural light! will return for sure.

Kristine G.

Yelp
Walked in on a weekday afternoon and picked up a honeycomb latte + a pastry stuffed with blueberry filling. The vibes are amazing and bright. The service is very quick. For the latte, I didn't taste much honeycomb/didn't differ from the taste of a sweetened latte I've had elsewhere. Overall, I wouldn't go back for the honeycomb latte but definitely interested in trying other menu items as the staff was exceptionally sweet and knowledgeable!

Cat R.

Yelp
Finally checked out this women-owned coffee shop after it was recommended by a friend! So happy I did! The interior is bright and cute (a nice change from the walk over hehe). The menu had an amazing selection of unique flavors so of course after dodging all the human poop to get here I had to get two! Ordered the maple latte w oat milk (hot) and the pandan coconut cream w espresso (iced). Both were tasty! I'm a huge maple fan and so happy to see this flavor on a menu after fall. And the coconut cream in the pandan was so satisfying. Still thinking about it! Staff was super friendly and almost convinced me to order a beautiful looking carrot cake (their last slice at 8am) but I ordered the ube cookie instead - this was thick, not under-baked w a sugar cookie taste w hints of ube. Not in the best area - I walked over from Market street and was so happy to find this oasis after about a 10 or so min walk, but aside from a few cat-calls bright and early lol, you'll be fine. Definitely coming back for foccacia and to try out more of their coffee menu!

Michael K.

Yelp
They bake a fantastic focaccia here and have delicious coffee! This beautiful space is bigger than the previous location and has seating for about 15 with an open floor plan. I could eat this focaccia every morning, YUM!

Jacquelyn C.

Yelp
Cute, bright coffee shop with kind workers but limited seating! Came here on a Friday around noon and there were a handful of people in the shop, but no line. I got: - The rose latte was quite good as a latte, but I didn't get much rose flavor in there at all 4/5 - the cheese focaccia was pretty good, better when I toasted it at home. I would definitely want to have the rosemary one next time, since they sold out by the time I got there. 4/5 - the ube cookie seems to be super popular, and while it's a decent cookie I didn't get much ube flavor. Kinda just tasted like a sugar cookie, so I was a bit disappointed. 3.8/5 This is definitely a cute spot that'll quench your thirst for coffee and satisfy the craving for a baked treat. A bit pricier than I'd prefer for the baked items, but I guess it's kinda typical for sf. I'd come back, but I'm not dying to return!

Helena G.

Yelp
Cute spacious coffee shop tucked away in soma area. Decor is so cute inside!! There isn't a whole lot of places to sit for the large space though. They had a lot of interesting/fun flavors, would love to come back to try the rose latte, matcha rose, and especially the strawberry milk!! I'm typically a chai latte person but I'll always go for the fun latte drinks if it's on the menu. Ended up getting the honeycomb latte -- it had actual honeycomb chunks they sprinkled on top. Was a decent latte, I was hoping for more honeycomb notes, but it tasted more like a sweetened latte. Was in a mad rush trying to take the picture as the honeycomb kept rapidly melting into the coffee.

Helen C.

Yelp
Yes, I did check this place out because of the Instagram girlz reels. It did look great and since the owner/chef literally worked at the world's best restaurant, Eleven Madison, I wanted to check it out for their focaccia and pastries. I was met (not exactly greeted) by the owner and I want to give her the benefit of the doubt that it's her hardcore New Yorker exterior but she did not seem happy I was there after seeing the reel. They were out of focaccia and I had the rose latte. Indeed one of the best coffees, up there with Linea, I've had. Perfectly sweetened but not overly sweet. I also got the ube cookie ($4.50) and it was a very good cookie, crispy on the outside with a sugar coat and chewy on the inside. Only pastries available was the cookie and banana bread at 11:30 weekday. Latte and cookie set me back $13.50 out the door. Yeah, definitely steep but it was quite good. Despite the not warm service, I will probably be back. She said focaccia is ready at 9am so good luck to us all.

Lizzie S.

Yelp
One of my favorite coffee shops in SF, I remember when my old coworker told me I needed to go to their old location because it's a "top-notch bakery masquerading as a coffee shop." This Asian woman-owned business showcases local artists in their store and helps showcase local businesses on social media--I love it! Service is wonderful and the inside is great for working out of. It's bright, light, and airy with lots of plants. This new location has more seating and lots of books and things to look at! I've enjoyed their cheese scone, Iced rose latte with oat milk, Iced oat maple latte, Pumpkin spice latte with oat milk, hot Mandarin clementine caramel latte, focaccia with cheese (probably the best!), and more. They update their menu routinely, seasonally, and just for a day. Telescope is a great community hub.

Hina M.

Yelp
This place is truly a gem and it's a paradise for all the coffee lovers. I got the Rose Latte and trust me I fell in love with the drink. It's one of my go to places in San Francisco and I would highly recommend this cute coffee shop. The atmosphere is very cute and inviting. They have a lot of options for coffee and as well as some tempting desserts! I will be back here every week to get the Rose Latte!

Ariana S.

Yelp
What a lovely little gem of a coffee shop! I stopped in here for a few hours while my car was being worked on nearby. The hot chocolate was rich, and the banana bread was so good that I got extra when I was leaving to take home with me. A lovely atmosphere too, and the staff was so friendly. I'll look forward to coming back whenever I'm nearby. Love supporting a local spot, especially one run by native born SF ladies!!

Linda N.

Yelp
Some people get hangovers, I just need my morning coffee fix. I like trying new coffeeshops so when a friend mentioned this place, i was sold. Honeycomb latte - Either the honeycomb wasn't sweet enough or my taste buds are broken. Don't get me wrong, the drink itself was good, I was just expecting something a little sweeter Iced Vanilla Latte - My friend ordered this and although I don't order too many iced lattes, I would say this is by far the best I've had. There was the right amount of ice which didn't dilute the drink and the sweetness was perfect. This place is a bit out of the way to make a visit but if I were in the neighborhood, I'd definitely make a stop here.

Lynn F.

Yelp
5 star experience: inviting space large enough for counter seating facing frosted window & 4 tables. Outlet on right side of counter in case you're one of those who buys 1 cup of coffee & sits all day on your computer. High ceilings with plentiful natural sunlight. Why not read a book, there's a bookshelf full of them, and they even have a dog bowl. When you enter you see the counter and all the yummy pastries made in-house. Super friendly service. Your bev is delivered to the side of service counter, with your choice of cow or oat milk. Also off to the side are napkins, plastic ware, straws, honey, & sanitizing lotion. Location is perfect for all the techies nearby, and close proximity to the courthouse where food options are quite limited. I'll be back for sure.

Ananya M.

Yelp
the place is pretty small (but cute). has a bathroom + books that you can take. baristas friendly. HIGHLY DO NOT RECOMMEND THE MATCHA ! it's absolutely atrocious (look at the color). I heard the honeycomb latte is pretty good though (can't and didnt try because im vegan). ALSO THEY CHARGE AN EXTRA $1 FOR PLANT BASED MILK!!

Tiana T.

Yelp
Food- OBSESSED. Their chai is top notch. I refuse to tell you which food is my favorite for fear of having to share. Dairy alts are almond and oat. They have a rewards program that I feel is pretty generous. Service- Efficient and knowledgeable. I've never had to wait more than 5 minutes for a drink. Ambiance- Various types of seating and lots of plants. Nice soft light and board games too. I love it. Dog- They have dog treats for purchase which my dog thoroughly enjoys. There's also a water bowl by the front door.

Mike R.

Yelp
I was in the neighborhood getting my tire replaced at Roberts Tire and Robert recommended this bright, cozy and friendly coffee shop around the corner. What a gem! Perfect coffee! Perfect on site pastries and delicious offerings. The moment you enter the Telescope Coffee you are greeted by owner Jenny who is extremely friendly an increable baker! Telescope has a very high ceiling, cool lighting and funky seating including high tops and three tables with chairs. My service was very quick and pleasant. My coffee was a work of art and extremely well prepared and presented by Noe. WOW! Highly recommend Telescope Coffee if you are in the neighborhood and I am sure with the growing local population of new apartments if will be a FAVORITE for years to come. Thanks Jenny (owner) and Noe for a spectacular experience! Mike

Benjamin N.

Yelp
My girlfriend and I have come here a few times and our go to drink is the rose matcha latte. We normally substitute with oat milk which does make it a bit pricey for coffee. Despite the price, it's a really delicious drink. We normally have to pace ourselves when drinking it so we don't finish it too fast. There's a few seats inside the shop.

Yuetong Z.

Yelp
Telescope Coffee's adorable logo caught my eye, and I'm glad I visited because the iced matcha rose latte is the perfect blend of smooth matcha and creamy rose flavors. My friend enjoyed the subtle sweetness of her hot rose latte as well. We enjoyed our drinks in a quiet, lovely setting with pops of pastel colors and whimsical little flowers and plants. Furthermore, the baristas were respectful, kind, and efficient. I can't wait to return to try other colorful drinks on the menu, especially the seasonal blueberry milk and cherry blossom coconut milk.

Mikayla M.

Yelp
Yesterday afternoon I tried the honeycomb latte and it was less sweet than I expected but I kinda liked that and it was creamy. I would definitely come back and get it again and I am interested in trying other things here as well. The service was fast and friendly and they had a decent amount of places to sit inside but no tables outside. Street parking only here as well (I think).

Harrison H.

Yelp
What makes Telescope Coffee stand out from the rest? Unique drinks! If you've been craving a Rose Latte or want to try real honeycomb in your latte, Telescope Coffee is the place for you! The space itself is very open and vibrant, but I am docking some points because there aren't many places to sit or work (and maybe they don't want people to stay in their shop for too long).

Linda L.

Yelp
Came to try this coffee shop after getting dismissed from jurt duty and was a bit underwhelmed. I ordered a mocha latte and a rosemary cheese foccacia. The mocha latte was a bit too rich for my liking, but it was still decent. I was excited about the rosemary cheese foccacia since it was one of their popular items but it was hard to chew and too greasy. The taste was good but I think the texture and greasiness ruined the experience. Maybe I had to heat it up? but I wasn't given the option. Service was good and the space was cute, but there is limited seating. Overall, I give Telescope Coffee a 3.6 star rating (not rounding up because I don't think they're quite there yet)..

Kelly H.

Yelp
This little cozy coffee shop has some amazing specialties. Their honeycomb latte is phenomenal, and you can watch as the actual honeycomb is stirred into your drink. The rose latte and London fog are also new favorites of mine. An iced London fog is great if you want something with a little less sugar, and you can get it decaf. This shop also hosts Saturday pop ups for other businesses selling pastries, clothes, jewelry, and other specialty items. It is a little gem in the heart of SOMA.

Ching C.

Yelp
This is a cute little shop that's quite spacious and bright if you are ever in need of a cafe to work on things! I got the ice matcha rose latte and it definitely has a natural strong floral scent and less on the artificial flavor, it is such a a pretty drink! The Uber cookie was a bit underwhelming tho.

Aaron Y.

Yelp
Excellent stuff! I had driven by so many times and not even known it was there until I saw something about them on IG. It's only a few blocks from work, so I'm sure I'll be coming pretty regularly. I got their honeycomb latte, which does have the bombest honeycomb crumbled on top. Just a really delicious drink! Because it was my first time I had to try a couple of the cookies, chocolate chip and ube. Both were tasty. But the star of the show is the focaccia! Like little muffin versions of focaccia that you'd be apprehensive to share after you take your first bite. You can get with or without cheese. I opted for the one WITH and it was amazing! These aren't cheap, but they really are well worth it. Great little shop just a bit away from the riff-raff of 6th street. Parking can be limited in the area and it's close to 280 on/offramp.

James S.

Yelp
Pretty big and interesting coffee shop. Easy to chat or work at. They have a good variety of coffee, including interesting drinks like a maple syrup latte. They make their own baked goods were are also pretty delicious. Street parking can be tricky in the area, so if you are driving in, it could take a bit of work during peak time.

Isaiah G.

Yelp
I saw this place on TikTok and decided to give it a try. We parked on the street right in front on a Saturday. The place is small but very cute. As soon as we walked in we were acknowledged. I ordered a rose latte and a vanilla latte. They have a lot of plants here and they had Easter eggs all around. The have little hidden messages that made my day. It was so simple and personal but those little details take it to the next level. There was also a book section you can take a book for free or donate some. I got my rosé latte they really pay attention to detail. Normally if places look cute the taste isn't great. This was perfect it hit every note for me. It was perfect temperature and it was perfectly balanced. It didn't overly tasted like a lot of coffee and the rose flavor at the end was amazing. This coffee was just so smooth and actually kept me up all day. I have yelped so many coffee shops and this is one of my favorite. Good price, great customer service, the coffee looks pretty, and it tasted amazing. Overall I had a perfect experience I will definitely be returning.

Jacqueline T.

Yelp
best rose latte ever! Our barista said that they make their rose syrup in house, and it shows. The rose flavor was so fragrant and floral, and was strong. There wasn't even a hint of the aftertaste that artificial sweeteners leave. I got the iced rose latte with oat milk, and it was the best drink I've had across multiple cities :) The lady who served us was so kind! She told us how they make their Vietnamese coffee as well. The inside of the café also has a little free library where you can leave donations and/or take a book, booth seating, and some tables. There are outlets as well.

Maria S.

Yelp
I really love this coffee shop around the corner from where I charge my EV. The staff are very friendly and have recommendations when asked. I am hooked on their honeycomb latte with oatmilk. I was able to get a nice salami sandwich on their focaccia bread when I asked if they have anything savory. It was just the right size and delicious. It looks like this place has some cool events every now and then. I'm so happy they are around and hope to visit often.

Patricia H.

Yelp
Super cute & delicious coffee+fresh baked goodies! Loved the cleanliness feel and minimalist decor. Nice soft touches of color. The coffee was delish, I ordered an oat latte & a cream puff, which were both absolutely delicious. Customer service was superb and didn't feel transactional at all It was cute and I would definitely go back. Recommend!

Anthony H.

Yelp
Wonderful local coffee shop with a great selection of drinks to accommodate nearly all dietary restrictions. They can be priced on the higher side but the quality and options back it up. The service is great too. The atmosphere is relatively simple but the local pop ups on Saturdays really set this place apart. I love supporting local small artists and bakers through these pop ups. They also have baked goods that have seasonal changes and more frequent specials which is really a nice touch to make this feel much more homey than your average coffee shop.

John W.

Yelp
Tldr; Cute aesthetics and a mellow flavored vibe permeate this small cafe nestled under a trendy apartment complex. Great place for an uncomplicated latte or if you want to go the distance, they offer games/books to share for extended sessions. Fairly new, Telescope opened a year or so ago, which was a welcome addition to the limited coffee scene in the 5th and Harrison area. Admittedly I'm a close neighbor so when the mood strikes, a quick trip down the street can find me over here. Kind of a polar opposite in many ways to the Delah coffee two blocks down (in the same place essentially), their style is light, mellow, cutesy, with an all white interior littered with books and board games from their public shelf. There aren't a ton of places to sit but they've made a pretty active effort to encourage people to hang out. I would probably advise changing up the space to accommodate more, but they are never filled to brim in here, it's super laid back most days. The coffees are pretty good, I think they'd probably be better without whole milk which is what I prefer, their flavors are super subtle in many ways, probably best paired with almond or lighter milks. My wife loves the maple lattes, I've tried most of their stuff, I usually just go with a typical latte or mocha. Again, nothing mind shattering but consistently good on the lighter side. If you prefer a much stronger coffee flavor, I'd advise elsewhere. I haven't had their pastries, but they do have them on offer and look pretty good. Baristas are all smiles, super friendly everytime we go. All in all for proximity it's choice, but if you take that out, I can come up a few places in the 6-7 block range that edges them out.

Yelp
Telescope Coffee is a hidden gem in the SOMA area. This is a POC women-owned coffee shop. They offer specialty drinks and their pastries are made in house. There's no seating inside, so it's ideal for grab and go drinks or treats. When you enter, you'll immediately notice the beautiful plants all around. Their most popular drinks is the Marshall's Farm Honeycomb latte. The latte was topped off with honeycomb. I was told to swish around my cup like a glass of wine, because the honeycomb melts into the drink. It adds such a rich and toasty sweetness. I'm looking forward to my next visit to try more drinks and their pastries.

Yelp
Been here 3 times in search of the mythical focaccia I keep hearing about, each time arriving around 7:30am. First time, it wasn't going to be ready until after 9:30am. The second time, I was able to get there around 10:30, only to find out it was all sold out. This last visit led to an interesting interaction with the owner, and not in a good way. I mentioned that I had come there just for the focaccia. She said that it wouldn't be coming out until around 8:30. I then asked, "Why so late?", to which she replied,"If it's not ready, it's not ready. " She then asked if I wanted anything else & I said no. Normally, with a response like that, I'd snap back & then leave. I instead chose to look at the menu once more & try to support the business by ordering a drink, which I didn't do in the 2 previous visits. After picking the most expensive drink on the menu (iced pandan coconut milk) and paying for it (plus tip, even after that previous comment), the owner then remarks "that's inconsiderate...I wouldn't walk in a bakeshop & say that". I explained that I work graveyard shift, so that was indeed late for me, not necessarily for you. She promptly made my drink, which I thanked her for & left. The drink... a solid 9/10. The experience... not so much. First of all, it says Telescope COFFEE, not bakery, bakeshop, or patisserie, so the fact that she considered it a bakeshop was news to me, as there are only about a half dozen baked items being offered on any given day. Second, this is the first time I've been to a self- proclaimed bakeshop that doesn't have all of their offerings available the minute the doors open, whether those items have to "proof" or not. I'm all for supporting small businesses, but this one soured me on spending any more dough.

Went here for the first time, service was average. Drink was below average. I order an ice vanilla latte which was $8! Man what the f***! It was mostly ice. Definitely not coming back.

Yelp
This has to be my favorite coffee shop in SF. The honey comb latte is one of a kind (not too sweet, just the perfect amount). Matcha rose latte was really refreshing (a lil bit sweet for my taste) but Jenny and other baristas are super nice and customize it to my preference and omg the focaccia is delish, the cheese and tomatoes with a hint of rosemary is what you need. Jenny makes all the pastries and breads in house fresh every morning. The ambiance is welcoming and decorated with cute plants.
