"I found a tiny cafe known for its honeycomb lattes and decadent pastries that will expand into a larger SoMa space later this spring; Jenny Ngo opened the shop in 2021 and plans to move into a yet-to-be-disclosed location in early April, with the final day of service at the micro cafe at 451 9th Street on March 18. I learned Ngo has built a strong SoMa community and wants the bigger space to better accommodate fans and host pop-ups and collaborations, and that she hopes to finally add seating. As part of what some call the fourth wave of coffee and the Vietnamese coffee scene, she partners with childhood friend Jenny Huynh of Cosmic Dust, who roasts Telescope’s eponymous espresso blend using beans from Vietnam. Ngo only sells fair-trade coffees and even her house cup is an affordable single-origin Guatemalan. In the meantime she’s selling the shop’s much-loved rose syrup in 12-ounce bottles for $18, and there will be pastry specials on the way out." - Paolo Bicchieri
