"Ten Yen in Orleans is an intimate sushi and sake bar by chef and owner Michael Kwon Jacek that offers a range of classic and contemporary Japanese dishes using both local and Japan-imported ingredients. The bar showcases a selection of premium sake, Japanese whiskey, and artisanal cocktails. Exceptional shareable plates, including shrimp and garlic shumai, shishito peppers, orange honey duck breast, spicy tuna tostada, and sushi ranging from handrolls to signature maki to traditional sashimi, have attracted a core following and continue to entice newcomers." - Anna Darrow

UPDATE: Ten-Yen delivers a truly exceptional experience with much of the fresh sushi sourced directly from Japan that is ordered each day at 4am. Chef Michael sets a very high standard for kitchen cleanliness and preparation that is rarely matched. Sit at the sushi bar to enjoy! Great unique addition to downtown Orleans. Chef Michael pays great personal attention to everything he makes while juggling conversations in the open kitchen. Get a reservation when u can!

The images I’ve added belies my review. Though the food was presented well and tasted decent, I am giving it 3 stars because the quality did not justify the cost. My baseline is potentially higher than most as I’ve tasted sushi from NYC to Hawaii. Service was very good as our waitress was very friendly and l attentive. The decor was dark Japanese modern with a fun twist. For the price, I had expected a lot more. I’m sad to say that in the end, I felt that it was just nicely presented run of the mill sushi.

Wow! Chef Michael and his team are the best on the Cape. We were eagerly awaiting the reopening of Ten Ten this season, and it did not disappoint. Delicious fish and seafood, impeccable service, and fun drinks. A perfect meal from start to finish - thank you, Ten Yen!

Google
Ten Yen... what can I say but detail the best night of my trip on the cape and recommend that you seek the same. I lucked into this gem walking the block while down for a conference, and sat right at the bar. Michael, Kelly and the rest of his staff were absolutely wonderful - Thoughtful recommendations on both the food and drink helped me have a perfect meal - it was genuinely the best sushi I've ever had. Now let me tell you a smidge about the clientele this place attracts - these standouts made for the best Tuesday I've had in recent memory. If you're in the area, come check it out, and if you're not, get into the area sometime.

Came to try the ramen, but the "tails in the air" ended up stealing the show. My husband and I talk frequently about returning to get more of the sushi rolls. Quaint inside, very friendly staff. Be patient and understanding if there's a wait; everyone's just doing the best they can without getting burnt out. Trust that it's worth the wait!

Google
Chef Michael is the best in the business. I've been to many of the top restaurants in the country and let me say this is the best dining experience you can have. The pride they take in what they do reminds me of someone who's only goal is to see people's mouths drop. Well I'm a fishermen. I eat fish all the time. I constantly think how did you get this to taste so damn good.

Google
We had a great dinner at 10 Yen/Three Monkeys Sushi. They have a great cocktail list and the sushi was delicious! The rolls are a bit expensive but the portion size was good. With two of us we got an appetizer and two sushi rolls and it was perfect. They've got a nice outdoor patio set up and the service was excellent. I'd highly recommend!

Google
Incredible accross the board. By far the best sushi weve ever had. Topped our recent Nobu trip by a long shot. Michael and his staff were amazing and we cant wait to go back!

Rosita F.

Yelp
Michael the chef is so friendly and loves what he does! The sushi is amazing and the creativity of some of the dishes really delicious. They also serve great cocktails and a variety of sakes. It is very pricey

Yelp
I previously gave ten yen one of their best reviews along with beautiful photographs. We've been there probably 5 times. The last time we were there we had such an embarrassing and rude experience. The restaurant is extremely small and they need to turn over diners as fast as possible, which we understand. There were 4 of us sitting at the counter. We were rushed to order. We always spend $400-500, there not including tip. After 1 1/2 hrs. We were told to hurry and that we needed to leave because they had other people outside waiting for our space. We were not asked graciously or discreetly. We are mature people who love fine dining and are not abusive. This was an extremely embarrassing moment. No food is worth that kind of treatment. We accomodated their request and quietly left. We all have vowed to never go back. They are alo opening a noodle place in the next town this summer. The noodle place will also be in a very small location which we will never go to because of their inappropriate behavior. Please be advised.

Yelp
Oh my god. This was hands down the most unbelievable, unexpected and best sushi we ever had. Ten Yen is off the charts amazing. So long story short. My wife wanted sushi. We found this place. We showed up. Small restaurants no seats available. We decided to wait to see if there 7:15 reservation was going to be a no show and bam, 2 seats came available at the sushi bar. Ok so the menu is small, but the food and presentation are huge. We started with the shrimp and garlic shumai and crispy sticky chicken. The shumai were Light, fresh flavorful like bites of heaven. They were so good we ordered a second order. The crispy sticky chicken were so flavorful and perfectly cook little pieces of pure delight. Amazing presentation to add to it. So then we heard the owner tell someone the specials, one of which was a scallop chowder. We decided to order a bowl. So far, just like everything else, it was the best chowder we have eaten. Loaded with scallops in a silky cream broth. We were just wowed!!!! Then we ordered the double dragon maki and Tidal wave roll. Both were beyond fresh. The sushi was ice cold, the vegetables were crisp and the rice they make tasted like nothing I have had before. The best sushi rice I have tasted. To finish it if we had a piece of Maguro and Chutoro nigiri. I know I keep saying this, but the freshest and best tasting sushi we have ever had. The owner who I believe his name was Mike, took the place one notch high with his knowledge and skills. For such a small place the atmosphere and ambiance was high because of his personality and skills. 100% coming back to Cape Cod (Orleans) just so we can come here again. Sorry there are not more pictures. We were so amazed at the food and watching the owner prepare it, I forgot to take more pictures. We then ordered the

Yelp
This place is absolutely wonderful. We have been on a number of occasions and each time better than the last. Very very good service and sushi second to none in the area. Cozy space, quite small, so not expect to show up without a reservation and be seated. You will pay for it, however given the quality of food and service it is well worth the trip.

Meg G.

Yelp
The food here is incredible- the staff are very attentive and friendly. This chef is amazing - so creative the food is a work of art and you can tell he puts his heart into it. We also had a chefs choice nigiri - all so good especially the scallops - this is one of our most favorite dining experiences

Dave R.

Yelp
The food was quite good overall. The spicy tuna tostada and double dragon maki were excellent, as were the drinks. The squash blossom rangoons were only OK though and had a bitter taste. While the food quality and presentation is quite good, it is overpriced in my opinion which is why I deducted one star. One thing to note- the booth seating is strangely uncomfortable. The table has a large base with four wide, protruding legs that take up most of the space under the table so there is nowhere to comfortably put your feet. There were just two of us at the table and we constantly had to shift our feet around to try to get comfortable and I ended up putting my legs out at a 45 degree angle- almost out into the aisle. I definitely wouldn't sit in the booths again but the only other options are a small 3 person table or the tiny, cramped sushi bar. It's strange that a restaurant that seems to care about details would fumble this basic component. But I wish them well since they are doing many things right.

Yelp
An outstanding addition to the dinner options in Orleans! The entire Ten Yen experience is wonderful. The cocktails are reason enough to bust, both taste and presentation are excellent. The sushi and rolls are wonderful. The other plates are also delicious. Start your meal with a cup of Miso soup. The room is small, try to make a reservation.

Angelica P.

Yelp
Wow - Ten Yen was incredible! The ambience, staff, drinks, and food we incredible. The Mai Tai is a must try for cocktails. We started with the Hoisin Chicken Bao Buns and General Tso Ribs - both were very tasty. The ribs are a heftier appetizer than the bao buns. For our entrées, we split 3 rolls and they were all super fresh with amazing flavors. The Blacksmith roll was my favorite.

Ann C.

Yelp
Fantastic first day of Ten Yen dining in at their new location! We had a truly enjoyable experience in a intimate environment: seated at the bar, enjoying delicious sake, and chatting with the chef. We had the nigiri sampler and brussel sprouts which was the perfect amount of food. The brussel sprouts had a nice spin with chestnuts and a cooling side of yogurt. The nigiri sampler was well done. Each cut of fish was fresh and beautifully presented. The rice was well seasoned and cooked. My personal favorites were the scallop and the yellowtail. I also liked how the first course of the sampler was a tar tar and the last was a handroll- nice bit of variety. Overall would strongly recommend and return. Make sure you make a reservation as there aren't many spots and they go fast!

Lynne L.

Yelp
Wow! This is a very small restaurant with high standards and a local fan base. We ordered Cucumber and avocado maki rolls, Seaweed salad, and as entrees: seared salmon rolls and hamachi rolls with scallions. Everything was absolutely delicious, service by Kelly and Carolyn was extremely attentive and pleasant, and Michael (the owner) was gracious and talented and appreciative. We only wish we lived closer as it was an exceptional dinner.

Janet S.

Yelp
Went here last night, invited by some friends. We all sat at the counter with full view of the kitchen and all the beautiful fresh fish. Cocktails were delicious- I had the special Vermont Mule. So good. The scallop chowder special was amazing as well as the double dragon roll, shrimp garlic shumai and the chutoro sashimi. Everything just melted in our mouths. The chef was attentive and conversive. The whole staff so obviously dedicated to superb quality food and service. Make a reservation today- you won't want to miss this place.

Yelp
Just what Orleans needs! You will not be disappointed by the quality, and atmosphere of Ten Yen. Reservation First, it is recommended one must make a reservation online, which keeps the quantity of people just right in the restaurant, being a restaurant that is mostly reservations removes the disturbance of walk in people. This keeps the Immersive experience of the restaurant with little disturbance. Also being a decent size restaurant Drinks As someone who is not a sake person, the Okunomatsu Ginjo sake was one of the smoothest sakes that I drank. On the menu it says the Okunomatsu Ginjo is Complex, lively aromas and a silky, light body. Smooth finish and refreshing aftertaste. $25/10oz bottle. And that it was! Exceptionally smooth and lively! Appetizer The craftsmanship of the appetizers were remarkable. The quality of the appetizers were impeccable. For an appetizer I had the Yellowtail Carpaccio, which is yellowtail sashimi, jalapeno, scallion, yuzu, ponzu sauce cost 21 dollars. Th jalapeño added a vibrant flavor to the dish. Main For my main dish I had The Blacksmith, which is tempura shrimp roll topped with seared bluefin tuna, tempura flakes, kimchi mayo, jalapeno cost 25 dollars. Again, outstanding flavor, so vibrant, and lively with the added jalapeño! Overall Outstanding and delicious restaurant! Highly recommend it!

Ian B.

Yelp
I got two sushi rolls (to go). Both of which were average at best. The flavor was pretty good, but the roll fell apart immediately when trying to eat it. I don't think that the sushi I got warranted the price that I paid. I got the Blacksmith ($25) and it hardly had any shrimp tempura, it was the skinniest piece of shrimp I've ever seen in a tempura roll. For such high prices, you should get a good amount of ingredients in the roll. The girl at the counter was very friendly, and it looks nice inside.

John Z.

Yelp
This is easily the best sushi place we've had in a while now. In fact, it trumps all of the places we've had in Boston this far (and we've had good sushi in Boston). The Hot to Trot is both sweet and savory, rich in flavor. The Spicy Scallop Maki is excellent and the best scallop in sushi I have ever had. Finally, the Blacksmith is a must have - we are so glad we ordered it, as the texture is amazing. An important thing to know is that this place can be fully booked (rightfully deserved), even on a Tuesday night off-peak in the Cape. Thankfully we decided to get take out and we are so satisfied. The service from Michael was excellent and I hope another spot like this opens up in Metro Boston!

Sue B.

Yelp
Wow! Chef Michael and his team are the best on the Cape. We were eagerly awaiting the reopening of Ten Ten this season, and it did not disappoint. Delicious fish and seafood, impeccable service, and fun drinks. A perfect meal from start to finish - thank you, Ten Yen!

Mehgan L.

Yelp
Ordered takeout and was very pleased with everything I ordered (special rolls, miso soup, seaweed salad, sashimi). Delicious, fresh and nicely sized portions really satisfied my sushi craving. The prices are very reasonable for the quality. I will definitely be ordering again in the future.

Benjamin N.

Yelp
Exceptional sushi not just for Cape Cod, but for anywhere. Omakase is at the highest level and the chef has stories and reasoning behind every choice.

Carlie O.

Yelp
I went last night for the first time and it was amazing! Make sure to make a reservation in advanced because it is very small and intimate, which is lovely! The staff was so nice and went above and beyond to make sure we were happy and enjoying everything. The Brussels sprout small plate was amazing and the gyoza was to die for. Make sure you get the wagu beef, it was unbelievable and so unique! I had the mai tai cocktail, best cocktail ever!! I am so happy Orleans has a 5 star sushi/asain fusion restaurant now. Will definitely go back. Can't wait for the Ramen specials that they will be doing as well. Highly recommend!!

Diana G.

Yelp
The best sushi you will ever have in your life! A true art. Chef Michael and the staff are the best ever. Hard to get in but so worth the wait!!!! Go!!! You won't regret it. We love Ten Yen

Mary K.

Yelp
Dined-in with friends on August 31, and couldn't have had a nicer experience! The staff is super attentive. Chef/owner greeted us at the door and ushered us inside though we arrived early. And the food was divine! We'll be back frequently. Check it out for yourself!

chester s.

Yelp
Really good food and excellent service! It is tough to get reservations and that is easy to see why! Limited seating so orders come out quickly. They plan on being open longer this year. That will be nice! Highly recommend.

Jackie B.

Yelp
Completely awesome! Excellent food. Small attractive place, they really give personal attention, encourage questions, and are informative and helpful. I recommend the Chef's scallop prep Nigiri, and anything else with scallops. The entire experience was great. Definitely my favorite restaurant on the entire Cape!

Amy M.

Yelp
This place is absolutely amazing. Hands down the best sushi I have ever had. The service is great and the dishes are creative, fresh, and delicious. Go.

Debbie W.

Yelp
Delicious and beautiful presentation...welcome to Orleans, Ten Yen! We r thrilled u r here!

Jennifer K.

Yelp
Excellent food and service! They have an intimate and relaxing atmosphere and a lot of variety on their menu. Everything is fresh, even the ginger. We ordered a couple of appetizers, a couple of rolls, and drinks. All were fantastic. I highly recommend this place but you will need reservations so not somewhere you can just walk in.

Reagan D.

Yelp
New location, same excellence! It continues to be a favorite and I can't say enough about the quality and creativity. So happy it's back.

Fran M.

Yelp
Seriously AMAZING. Like.... So good. We are very frequent sushi eaters and this is quite possibly the best sushi we have ever had. Very friendly staff, delicious drinks. The Mai tai, miso soup, shrimp shumai, the tidal wave roll, and the salmon asparagus roll were a must try. Cant wait to go back!!!!

logan r.

Yelp
This was the BEST sushi i have ever had!! There was great service and was also quick!! Drinks are also very delicious! Overall 11/10!!

Jay D.

Yelp
Fish quality excellent. Service and skill average. Ambiance and attitude poor. Menu says Sashimi and Nigiri, but sloppy sauces and spices piled on by the chef diminish rather than enhance the sashimi and nigiri result. Maybe that's what local customers want? There are no other choices nearby. For the price, it should be more elegant and skillfully prepared - without the attitude!

Rebecca S.

Yelp
Absolutely impeccable, beautiful food. Probably the best sashimi I've ever had...every piece melted in my mouth. You will not be disappointed.

PJ M.

Yelp
So glad Ten Yen is back, the food is just as good as it ever was! If you go immediately after the reopening expect some reopening teething issues, but make no mistake the food is unbelievable, it makes up for any other minor inconveniences. This is the only location I will eat sushi at on the cape!

Ann P.

Yelp
Culinary perfection at it's best. Seth and I stopped in for a sushi fix. I am eating super clean in preparation for an athletic challenge I am embarking upon. I was ravenous. I was ready to be fed. We chose Chef Michael and 10 Yen from last year's culinary experience. Quite honestly, it's a hidden gem and I'd like to keep it that way but the secret's out. In fact, last night, they had to turn away three parties. The place is small, it's super intimate. When you leave, you want the party to continue and you want to stay connected to your dining mates, previous strangers. Phillipe and Michael are a team, working in unison and perfectly in sync, serving delectable delights and mixology, not seen elsewhere on Cape. Chef Michael prepares your food in front of your eyes. The food foreplay drove me crazy. What he presents is culinary genius. Each bite from my Sushi menu tantalized my tastebuds. Seth chose the kitchen menu. The squash blossoms filled with ooey goodness looked, WOW. I am not taking the time to write too many details. Just go! Book a table, if you can get one, and GO. The tasting menu is 58.00. 5 flights of Saki was 35 (or 30.00) I cannot recall. We LOVE 10 Yen!!!

Austin M.

Yelp
Definitely a gem in Harwich Port. The staff is a 10 , the atmosphere is a 10 and the food is a 10. Highly recommend exploring their menu. Every time we get a chance to come to the Cape we always stop by at least once!

Sheila H.

Yelp
Sushi master and owner Michael Jacek never fails to disappoint. Simply amazing and exquisitely assembled sushi, and the Tuna Nuta appetizer and Crispy Cabbage and Vegetable Dumplings were sublime. Nice wine and saki list and yummy craft cocktails.

Brittany C.

Yelp
This restaurant is such a treat for us Cape Codders. Beautiful and melt-in-your-mouth sushi, prepared to order, and so fresh you won't believe it. As a medically gluten-free eater, I truly appreciate chef's discipline and awareness about cross-contamination and gluten-free ingredients. A fresh, clean space, fun cocktails, and did I mention the amazing sushi? Definitely recommend, though afraid to let word get out!

Dave C.

Yelp
ok, my family and I were super excited to see Orleans get an actual Sushi restaurant! Tried it last night for the first time. The Good: Maki rolls were very tasty!! Order was ready on time and had a pleasant exchange when picking up. Although not open for indoor dining yet, the interior looked really nice and inviting. The Bad: No indoor dining yet; I can understand, but still disappointing. The menu seems to be quite limited. i'm not sure if the menu selection is limited due to take out only still or just keeping it simple? I'd prefer to have a broader selection and perhaps more small plates to choose from. Finally, the cost. I felt it was pretty expensive for 4 rolls and some Gyoza. I'm not sure the alternatives are much better though, but at least with the Chatham option, there's much more comprehensive menu to choose from so maybe the drive isn't such a problem. We'll put Ten Yen in our rotation, but it's far from a no brainer. Wish them luck this summer!

Paul B.

Yelp
Food was prepared fresh my chef Mike, the quality and taste can not be beat on the Cape. The only down size is that the area is small. It does however provide an intimate experience. The staff is extremely knowledgeable on the food and drinks. Can't wait to go back.

G B.

Yelp
Very good sushi and ramen. We had both and a 7 course tasting (omikase) that was really excellent! Mike and his crew really know how to make the whole dining experience fun, yet elegant and delicious. This is a true hidden gem. Make sure to make a reservation for one of the 3 dinner seatings as they only have 6 seats. If you want take-out, make sure to order before 4, as during the 3 dinner seatings they are concentrating all there efforts on the sit down guests. Great addition to the Cape and Harwichport!

Jimm C.

Yelp
food was outstanding and with great service. sitting at the counter was great. i can't wait to go back. It takes a while to get a reservation since the restaurant is small with 8 settings at the counter and 4/5 tables which can each seat 4 ppl.

AJ L.

Yelp
Thank you Ten Yen for an amazing meal. The service was outstanding and the food was even better. The fish was insanely fresh and delicious. The cocktails and Sake were amazing. I can't say enough about what an incredible experience we had tonight. A great addition to the restaurants in Orleans. We can't wait to go back!

Christine N.

Yelp
Finally made it to TenYen! The spectacular reviews don't do it justice. So fresh, so tasty - and great service to boot. I loved every bite and every minute... what was I waiting for?? Dont know!

Sarah P.

Yelp
Picture it: you are at a Michelin starred sushi restaurant in Tokyo. Next thing you know you are beachside on the Cape. How is this possible? Ten Yen. Don't take my word for it; you must taste it for yourself. Michael and the team, thank you for all you do -- it is nothing short of perfection.

Laura N.

Yelp
I ordered takeout from Ten Yen and it was phenomenal! Innovative rolls and super fresh ingredients. Friendly staff to top it off! Highly recommend.

Dave M.

Yelp
Excellent meal at Ten Yen last night...what a treasure for this town!

Mike F.

Yelp
Best sushi on Cape cod!! Everything is very fresh and amazing. Get the scallop hand roll

Dee Dee A.

Yelp
Please eat here - even if the new older lady at the front is unwelcoming! Food is great, chef and staff fabulous. We've been dining here for years long before recent expansion.

Mo B.

Yelp

This paitan is perfect all summer long and for a good price they also have sushi and LQ ! Cute location and they have reusable straws I can't wait for them to offer more ramen options

Alexandra F.

Yelp
the outdoor seating was so cute, and even though the restaurant was busy we were seated right away. the young lady waitress was so attentive and welcoming. our drinks and food came out quickly and everything was delicious. we got a pina colada, a miami vice, a mudslide, the edamame gyoza, tails in the air roll, tidal wave roll and serpent roll. a bit pricy but worth it.
