I visited Terra on a special occasion for brunch and my experience was mediocre at best.
I did not have a reservation, but went up to the front desk and asked when a table would be available. I gave them my telephone number, and in about 15 minutes I got a text message telling me that my table was ready.
Truth be told, the restaurant is nice inside, but I found the service and quality of the food to be lacking.
We ordered the carbonara and salmon, which were close to $30 each, but the portions were incredibly small. The guanciale in the carbonara was overcooked to the point that it was as hard as a rock. In total, I'd be surprised if there was more than five mouthfuls of pasta there. The salmon was okay.
It was my girlfriend's birthday, but they didn't have anything other than the ability to put a candle in a single pastry. The waiter actually forgot to do it until I reminded him after he had already brought the dessert to the table. However, it's important to note that the tiramisu was absolutely fantastic. Really mind blowing quality.
The staff was a quite arrogant, any polite request, or interaction with them was not pleasant. It was as if we were annoyingly wasting their time instead of being treated as patrons at a nice restaurant. Furthermore, the plates smelled like bleach.
Based on these factors I don't think I would come here again. The food sold downstairs at Eatily is quite good, but that doesn't also translate into the quality and service of the restaurant upstairs. If I were you I would definitely skip dining at Terra. There are many other better options in Boston.
-1 star for service,
-1 star for small portions for price,
-1 star for poor food quality.
