An Essential Guide to Eating Your Way Through Alberta | Eater

"Farmed and foraged food is the star of the menu at Terra, a cozy, all-day restaurant in the heart of Jasper. The space leans into the mountain appeal, with warm wood accents and a roaring fireplace in the center of the room. As one would want in the mountains, the menu focuses on comfort food staples with Alberta twists — poutine with grilled Alberta beef, brined and roasted chicken with the three sisters (corn, bean, and squash — the three core crops of local Indigenous peoples), and red fife bread with Vancouver sea salt." - Kate Dingwall

I chose this place based on the positive reviews, and while the design and ambiance are indeed beautiful, our experience fell short of expectations. We ordered a charcuterie board, but as shown in the attached photo, what we received was simply a plate with nine pieces of salami—something that was quite disappointing and unexpected. The chicken dish we ordered for dinner was not bad in terms of taste, though the portion size was quite small. Overall, while the setting is lovely and may be worth visiting once, I don’t see myself returning or recommending it to friends.

Had breakfast here one morning. It was fancy without being too much. They incorporate a lot of local ingredients and even small details like the side of beans were clearly made in house

We were so lucky to stumble upon Terra during our time in Jasper. We felt so good about it, in fact, that we went for a total of 3 occasions - dinner, breakfast, and a drink in the evening. Angie was a great server and was kind enough to take the time to chat. They were super accommodating with allergies, tons of options for gluten-free travelers. Thank you for amazing dishes and beverages!

We went for breakfast here & ordered the Foragers bowl w/ a side of salmon + chicken, as well as the Breakfast Sandwich. The flavours were incredible!! The bowl consisted of a bunch of root veggies that were pickled, but they all had their own unique flavour & the wild rice + lentil paired perfectly. There were 2 homemade hot sauces available, Kiwi Watermelon & Blueberry. Both were delicious! The breakfast sandwich was also mouth-watering. Made on sourdough w/ rosemary aioli & gouda, it was far from your regular breakfast sammie. We enjoyed our meal so much, we asked our server if we could speak w/ the chef to convey our gratitude for such an wonderful meal. Hats off to the chef Terry!! Our server was also amazing, I believe his name was Ansh. Overall a great experience & a stylish establishment. We will definitely be back next time we are in town.

We have just had the most amazing meal to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary. The food was so so delicious and as I am coeliac the gluten free options were readily available. I had the salmon and my wife had the duck. Both dishes were awesome. The service was excellent. They even gave us complimentary desserts which was much appreciated. Highly recommended.

Disappointing Experience – Style Over Substance How does $86 sound for a tofu lentil main, two appetizers, and a berry spritz—with an automatic 18% tip included? Not great, especially when the food and experience fall flat. The space is aesthetically modern but oddly laid out. It feels more like a motel lobby than a welcoming restaurant. The bar sits awkwardly at the entrance, and the dining area tucked behind it lacks warmth. There’s even a private dining space that’s often cordoned off—likely to avoid the look of empty tables. I visited for an early 5 PM dinner based on a recommendation from my hotel (which I now suspect has some arrangement with the place). I ordered the red lentil tofu and two appetizers. The tofu arrived clearly reheated—possibly microwaved—and was unlike any tofu dish I’ve had, in the worst way. The two accompanying carrot sticks were badly charred and borderline inedible. Honestly, I was shocked they served it like that. Jasper surely has better dining options. Do yourself—and your wallet—a favor and eat somewhere else.

Amazing restaurant. I love finding unique, creative restaurants on trips I take. Walking into Terra, it’s a very chic and relaxing restaurant. The food does not disappoint and their Maple Miso Butter for the bread is delicious. Stephan was our server and he was knowledgeable, nice, and professional. Go here if your in Jasper!

Lovely and well-placed restaurant that has great views and is very convenient to get to. My server, Isabella, was wonderful, and gave great advice for things to do in the area. There were many different options for coffee, and it was really good. The food was delicious and filling, and was a great and fulfilling breakfast experience in the morning.
