I've worked in the service industry myself for 6 years and I've seen packed restaurants, lack of employees, etc. I completely understand if servers are doing their best and just can't keep up with how busy it is. But this place is beyond all excuses, because I felt like our server was giving us a bad service on purpose. We came in and ordered breakfast, no utensils or beverages were brought to us. I had to ask about our coffee because it didn't arrive after 10 min of sitting there. Then our food was finally brought up and no utensils with it. I asked the server about silverware and he said it will be "just a minute". Then he just went on about his business without even making an attempt to hurry and get us a fork so we could eat. After a while the silverware finally arrived and the food was below average. No salt added, no ketchup or hot sauce offered, just plain and bland. Management really needs to do something about this restaurant.

1 star for food, 0 stars for service, 2 stars for atmosphere because it’s actually a very beautiful location. The menu was EXTREMELY limited, only 7 entrees, 2 pasta dishes, and 1 of the most basic burgers with McDonalds fries. The Empanada appy was great, but it, and our entrees, came out before the drinks. There were 2 other people in the restaurant, besides us. We had to ask for the drinks twice, and had finished our dinner before they came out. My mezcal drink was prohibitively spicy, enough where I had to send it back. Lips still tingling 20 mins later. Despite our drinks being forgot about until after our meal, they were not comp’d from the bill until after I sent the drink back, and the “Under 5 people” service charge of 15% was just the cherry on top to make me angry. $109 USD plus a tip (?????) for what? Final charge was $57+$8 “service charge”. Wish I had read the reviews before.

There was so much oil on the food it was ready for the stage at a body building competition. The bacon arrived cold and the coffee is cheap and tastes like it. It seems that the servers have not undergone any sort of training. Then, adding insult to injury, the restaurant adds an automatic 15% gratuity. Do not spend your money here unless you're looking for disappointment and regret.

A friend and I went last night for dinner. I completely agree with another posters comments that the staff seemed to be purposely providing bad service. I am understanding that service industry is extremely hard now and patience is necessary. But the service was almost laughable it was so poor. We spent $150 on dinner, drinks and were treated like we were an inconvenience. Drinks took forever and 1 time were wrong. Everything took so long. Then my meal came out cold. They begrudgingly took it back to kitchen and then the steak came back well done/ flavorless. Also, we noticed there had been 2 different groups that came & sat near us & both left after at least 20-25 minutes being ignored by staff. Left sitting without menus, water or a napkin. The waiter said I don’t know what to tell u everyone came in at the same time. lol. So many good restaurants in that area - please go elsewhere.

Firstly, the reservation process uses a website called TOCK. There's no way to actually cancel or modify a reservation, even though you take a credit card and claim to charge a $25.00 PER PERSON cancellation or no show fee. Secondly, this restaurant needs to close until it can get its act together. There were only two people working that we could see, and everything took an inordinate amount of time. That includes the time to be seated, even though we arrived at 5:30 and there were only 3 tables occupied. It took 45 minutes to get our drinks. It took an hour and ten minutes to get our food. The poor server was on his own, and he told us it was his third day. All the other tables were the same. There wasn't any salt and pepper in the shakers, the empty plates from the appetizers never got picked up. The location of this restaurant is great, as we were going to a Broadway Show at the Keller Auditorium that is only a block away. This restaurant has been closed for years, despite this ideal location, so when it opened we gave it a shot. (Unfortunately we didn't check Google Reviews first.) Thankfully, the two of the four of us who were going to the show got our food in time to make the show, but one only got his food as we were leaving, 20 minutes after the other three of us. The food was very average. I'm not sure who's fault the staffing was, but it was a miserable experience that stressed us out that we almost didn't get fed despite arriving at 5:30 pm, and needing to leave at 7:00 pm, in a mostly empty restaurant.

My wife and I were staying at the attached hotel and decided to grab some breakfast here. My first warning should have been the pricing. $6 dollars for any beverage on the menu whether you were getting drip coffee, hot chocolate, tea or milk. Now, unless they are in the back milking the cow by hand, I don’t know who is paying $6 for a glass of milk… Then we got the food served. I got the French toast, which was overpriced but at least tasted ok. My wife on the other hand got the waffle, which turned out to be inedible. One bite of this thing and you felt like you just swallowed a brick. Honestly, the complimentary breakfasts that I get at a Hampton Inn are much better than what was served to us.

DON’T BE FOOLED BY THE AVERAGE RATING! I'm not quite sure what's going on with this place, and it seems neither does any of the staff. Considering they apply a 20% service fee (even at the bar) that's pretty ludicrous. Joined a large group in the middle of an *empty* dinner rush. This menu is tiny and yet they were all but completely out of all (four) appetizers. We were served buffalo wings and fries instead (how very Italian). Entrees weren't any better: Caesar salad was passable, the pasta was soupy, the steak was sad.

I had high hopes about the food here, but it was sub par. I ordered the penne pasta, but substituted the penne with linguine and the dish came out like a soup with way too much thinned out sauce. I took a few bites and refused to eat it. The waiter asked if I wanted to take it to go and it made my stomach turn with the thought of traveling with it.

Yelp
Our first venture back into Portland was mixed. The city is trying hard to recover that special urban vibe and food scene that many know and love. The Terrane Italian Kitchen at the Porter Hotel in Portland was not as good as we hoped. Atmosphere and location were nice. However, both dishes we ordered, the steak and salmon were over cooked and the rest of the meal was lukewarm warm. The cocktail mediocre. Dining experience was very basic and definitely not representing Portland.

Yelp
tl;dr: I got food poisoning from eating salad here. I'm not quite sure what's going on with this place, and it seems neither does any of the staff. Yelp
Swung through for breakfast with a friend who was staying in the hotel. The breakfast was decent for a hotel breakfast, the omelette had a good amount of filling and the eggs were well cooked. The coffee was tasty as well. Overall cool environment, and a fun way to spend breakfast! That said, it felt overpriced for what you get. I wouldn't be quick to come back for that reason.

Yelp
This restaurant (located within the Porter hotel) is a perfectly acceptable choice if you are staying in the hotel and need something convenient. If that's your goal- you will leave satisfied. We had the steak bites and empanadas, both served with chimichurri sauce. The crust of the empanadas was perfectly flakey and flavorful. The filling was also tasty. The steak was somewhat bland. I felt bad for our server who had 10 tables and was by herself for quite awhile (yet she did a PHENOMENAL) job!! It's a typical hotel restaurant in terms of ambiance. If you're looking for a culinary experience this is not the place. If you want to fill your belly with decent, convenient food, I can definitely recommend this place.

Yelp
For the prices, the food was extremely underwhelming. A far distance from the former restaurant (pre-COVID). Very disappointed. The salmon dish was dry--very dry. The rice that came with it was not cooked all the way. The stake frites was lower end cuts and over cooked. The carrots and potato's that came on the side were hardly seasoned and chewy. The burger was over cooked and lacked any sauce/flavor. The Rasta pasta was way too creamy, lacking flavor. It explained why on what should have been a busy evening only yielded two, maybe three occupied tables (including ours). The price was ultimately the most disappointing. $28 for steak or $28 for dry salmon, $18 for a relatively plain burger, pasta for $22'ish was ridiculous. I realize hotel food is generally inflated but this was pretty horrendous. Compared to what Terrane used to be... this is awful. The service was pleasant but somewhat confused as to why wait times for so long for a nearly empty restaurant floor. Will never try that place again despite staying at this hotel on a regular basis.

Yelp
There was only a small menu--a few appetizers, three salads, and five entrees. Very little of it was Italian. Instead it was more South American in focus. We had empanadas and steak bites with chimichurri. Both were good. The empanadas were very flavorful and the dough was excellent. The steak bites, sauce, asparagus, and mashed potatoes were properly cooked.

Yelp
Pros: -The waitress/hostess did an excellent job. - the decor of the restaurant is beautiful - takes reservations Con: - uncleaned restrooms - out of 3 appetizers, mashed potatoes, bread - the lemon ricotta pasta dish lacked ricotta and left me with garlic flavor instead - not all salads came out at the same time (by the time mine came the entrees came) - don't accept cash

Yelp
While the ambiance is delightful, the food is really disappointing. Prior to pandemic, this was one of my go-to's for a nice evening and the kitchen shifts since reopening have been disappointing to say the least. Service has never been an issue, but prior to your visit consider that their website isn't updated and doesn't match their true menu, and their menu is very limited.

Larry R.

Yelp
Not as good as before the pandemic. Today I had oatmeal and they let me have milk instead of what was on the menu . Huge portion, some lumps but not bad. Juice was good. Coffee was good with no after taste, l like it a bit darker, stronger. I had eggs, and French toast on 2 earlier visits, used to come all the time pre-pandemic.

Sara L.

Yelp
You can almost always get a table! It's good if you are in a hurry and just hungry. It's too expensive for the quality of food and whatever you do... don't eat the dinner rolls. It's like they came out of a school cafeteria. The menu is limited and the cocktail menu is $$ but the wine is not bad! Good service, nice people, but there is a reason it's never packed. Would not go again l.

Yelp
I'm basing the one-star review on my experience with their auto-gratuity. I have no problem with auto-gratuity AS LONG AS I AM TOLD ABOUT IT. Nowhere on the drink / appetizers menu at the bar does it say auto-gratuity will be added (well, at least not on the menu we were handed). We were never told by the bartender either, so I'll take ownership of not seeing it on the final bill and then tipping more on top of the 20%. I'll survive but it leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Buyer beware, they auto-grat 15% for breakfast and then raise that to 20% for dinner. If you have a party of 6 or more, those numbers go up. We were visiting from out of town and stayed at the Porter Hotel so this was a convenient option. Fool me once....

Yelp
absolutely horrible experience for dinner. ordered from Thanksgiving menu (which is all that was offered for dinner service). food was served cold, ok it was lukewarm. 2 other tables sent their food back for the same reason. breakfast today.....absolutely horrible service in all regards. waited 5 minutes to be seated by the host stand. we were then told to seat ourselves. we had no menus and no silverware. after 10 minutes our order was taken, 15 minutes later we received our coffee, then the food was delivered; still no silverware or cream and sugar for the coffee. the food brought out for our meal was wrong, sent back. literally the worse dining experience ever. over 1 hour for 1 cup of coffee and a mediocre breakfast. AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS.
