The 25 Best Restaurants In Barcelona 2024

"You don’t hike up Montjuïc for any meal—you come for Martínez. People pilgrimage to this buzzy spot for the grilled seafood, lots of Spanish and Catalan wine, and arguably the prettiest views in town. While there’s plenty of paella (known as arroz here) on the beach, this spot somehow makes it taste more exclusive. That and the fact that the seafood is always fresh and local (not a given, sadly), and the rice has plenty of that toasty, slightly burnt-edge crunch called socarrat. You can taste it in the rice, and even more so in the fideuá, the Spanish twist on seafood spaghetti. During the day, book a table on the sun-drenched terrace surrounded by tropical greens and port views, but at night, opt for the slightly more formal dining room with dim lighting and the sexiest views." - isabelle kliger

Martínez - Review - Sants-Montjuïc - Barcelona - The Infatuation

The 38 Essential Barcelona Restaurants

"There are plenty of places to try paella in Barcelona, but Martínez is the move. Perched on the side of Montjuïc with a panoramic view of the city and port, the restaurant is far removed from the hubbub of the beach district. To justify your journey to the table, dig into the famous rice dishes like the señorito paella — garnished with peeled and shelled seafood, which keeps fingers clean — and the decadent lobster rice, as well as classic tapas and the inviting oyster bar." - Sam Zucker

This was a recommendation from a friend and we were dubious given its location away from the city , but upon entering I can only say they delivered great service, lovely food and a wonderful location with views of the city. Book early to get the best seats, enjoy the rice and a fish - go as a group of 4 at least so you can truly sample what’s on offer. Thoroughly enjoyed our evening here - well worth it.

Croquettes insane. Really nice host guy us a great table. Overall a great experience. Anchovies solid, Pan Tomate great, Arroz señorio high quality ingredients strong fishy flavour disappointed me though. Rice cooked too perfection, but definitely savory so I guess next time Ill try with rabbit instead. Nice atmosphere really good crowd.

If you want a more special occasion, celebratory meal, or just an elevated experience, I would recommend Martinez when in Montjuic. There is so much good food in Spain, much of it found in the most casual environments, but places like this should not be missed. I had the hands down best tuna tartare I’ve had anywhere, and the arrozes, Iberian pork and beef tenderloin were all outstanding. I had a green salad to start- something simple and light, but it was so fresh, dressed appropriately and opened my palate perfectly. When even a salad feels intentionally prepared, you should pay attention. The ambience is also so lovely, next to a gorgeous garden and with stunning views. Come with your partner or a group. You will not regret it!

We came here for the first time 3 years ago and reminisce about that meal often because it was so exceptional. Last night we had the pleasure of revisiting, and it lived up to our precious memories!! Everything from the ambience, the amazing staff and of course the incredible food was to die for, we also lucked out and had a table with a great view. Also, if this item is still on the menu, you must get it: the pork rib and wild garlic rice! The best paella we’ve had (and we’re big seafood fans), I really hope we get to taste it again sometime - in the meantime we’ll be reminiscing!

Nice setting and great service, but the paella was a major letdown… We visited this restaurant in Barcelona to celebrate my birthday. The venue itself is quite charming, but not an extraordinary view, though it has still a pleasant and inviting atmosphere. We had made a reservation about 4-5 days in advance and informed them via email that it was a special occasion. Despite the short notice, they arranged a lovely private balcony table for us, which really elevated the experience. The staff were very attentive and welcoming throughout the evening, and the service was one of the highlights. As for the food, overall, it was generally good. However, the paella – which is one of their signature dishes – was a major disappointment. At €28 per person (€56 total for two), we had high expectations. Unfortunately, it fell short in almost every way. The rice was dry, the seafood was overcooked, and the shrimp hadn’t even been properly cleaned. The dish lacked the depth of flavor you’d expect from a place known for paella, and it just wasn’t enjoyable. It was honestly a shock, and it really dampened the mood of what was supposed to be a special night. In summary, great service and a nice setting, but if you’re going there specifically for the paella, I’d think twice. At that price point, it should have been much, much better. I now see why there are mixed reviews. I think they don’t have a standard and unfortunately, I wouldn’t go there again.

This place was a little confusing to get to if you’re taking public transportation, but so worth the effort! It’s located on top of a hill with a beautiful view of the marina. I went alone for an early dinner and was absolutely blown away. This place is a MUST for the paella. It’s so delicious! I ordered the seafood paella. For dessert, I had the crème Catalan - do not miss this one! It was so smooth and not too sweet. A little on the pricier side, but the ambiance and the food was definitely worth it! 4 stars for atmosphere because the women’s bathroom was not working.

Views are amazing, overlooking the port and into the city! Of course food quality was outstanding. Paella was some of the best in the city!

Food is just okay. Seems like a tourist trap. Servers try to up charge for more expensive menu items. The paella was just okay. Everything else was just okay as well. Definitely overpriced.
