Terroni Review - Queen West - Toronto - The Infatuation

"Terroni is a Toronto institution—the first location on Queen West opened in 1992, making it practically ancient in a city where new restaurants seem to open weekly. It’s the perfect choice for those evenings when you feel like getting a little dressed up for a meal of fancy pizzas and pastas. Head here with a group so you can try as many dishes as possible, like the black truffle and sausage tonnarelli, white pizza with mozzarella, gorgonzola, fresh pears, walnuts, and speck, and flourless chocolate cake for dessert. Terroni has a few locations around the city, though we prefer the one on Adelaide Street since it’s inside an old courthouse." - Julia Eskins & Team Infatuation

There are a few locations. My friend had her wedding reception here (or maybe it was the one on Yonge?) and everything they served was very nice.

Wonderful staff. Front hosts/reception is very welcoming and servers are kind and patient. Overall, the food is a good go to for simple and reliable Italian food. The fried calamari was the highlight of the dinner. Lightly crispy, not chewy and fresh. The atmosphere is superb especially the back patio on a sunny day.

It is a great place to try authentic Italian food. You can bring your friends, families, or colleagues. It is a good place for all occasions. We tried wine, pasta, pizzas, and some Italian desserts. While it is a bit expensive, it is worth it if you want to enjoy Italian food.

Our daughter invited us to Terroni restaurant for Mother's Day. The pasta, gnocchi, and pizza were all deliciously prepared. The highlight, though, was the dessert—specially made for the occasion. However, what was absolutely perfect to my taste, including the temperature, was the cappuccino. We love this restaurant. Please visit—it won’t disappoint

Google
What a great place for true Italian eatery! I had the Tonnarelli Alla Norcina, excellent dish, very creamy with just the right amount of spice, noodles were spot on. My wife had the Gluten Free pasta with Bolognese sauce. I know when we visited it was during a heat wave, but it was quite warm in the restaurant, almost felt like we were in the Carribean, lol. That is why we opted for the gelato for desert (also very delicious). Would definitely reccomend if you enjoy pasta dishes.

I finally found my favorite pizza spot, and it's this Terroni branch. Beautiful multi-floor restaurant with attentive service. Highly recommended for a date night, a casual lunch, after work drinks with colleagues, a private event, and everything in between. And if you're wondering what pizza locked in my taste buds, it's the Capricciosa. Try it and let me know!

Google
Terroni’s was absolutely delicious with great service! We even got a little history lesson, the building used to be a courthouse, and it was really cool seeing the old jail cells in the basement on our way to the bathroom. The food was amazing, everything was very well done. Definitely a wonderful experience!

Google
To be frank, the food and service was a simple okay. The atmosphere of the restaurant is quite nice and has some chic details that make it feel quite luxurious. However, for the price tag of a dinner here, I was hoping to receive exemplary service and food quality. Regarding food quality, our party of ten ordered a multitude of pastas and pizzas. We thought the pizza was great and tasted incredible. However, all of us who ordered pastas thought that it was undercooked. We've had al dente pasta but unfortunately, the pasta was way too firm and not tender enough. My group remained patient when waiting for our order to be taken as we recognized we were a large group and the restaurant was slightly busy. But even after asking one of the waiters, it took a very long time for them to take our order. Throughout the night, our wait time improved and we got our food at a good pace. If you plan on dining here, I recommend ordering the pizzas over the pastas.

Google
Server was lovely and let me know there is a vegan menu! Food was great. The inside is absolutely stunning with beautiful lighting and a lovely interior aesthetic for photography if you enjoy that. Atmosphere outside 3/5 inside 5/5 They do have a patio, it’s so-so I would say, some seats are better than others we were a bigger party and sat close to the bins so we could hear when they were dumping things, when our party first got there they dumped our water and it started leaking to our table so that was unfortunate and didn’t offer to move us outside elsewhere but inside.. so I wouldn’t recommend outdoor seating for more than a party of 4!the chairs are also okay not super comfy outside! Again, inside is stunning and the staff were so nice to get a picture of my group.

Yelp
Lively, warm and elegant ambiance. Came to have a girls dinner with my wonderful cousin. We both had red wine, I had the one recommended for Cab Sav lovers. We shared the oyster mushroom salad, I had the truffle/Italian sausage spaghetti and then we both shared the tiramisu. Wine was lovely, food was delicious and dessert was divine. I wasn't the craziest about the mushroom oyster salad; they were fried but not super warm and then it was just arugula and there wasn't a ton of flavor. My entree absolutely made up for that; positively delicious. And I could have eaten a gallon of the tiramisu! Our server, Jordon, was fast, friendly and attentive. He had excellent recommendations and translated our wine preferences. We loved him!

Yelp
Food- 7/10 The sass from Bryan- 0/10. Bryan if you're reading this, I'm simply just a girl who wanted a cheeky little glass of wine, sue me if I don't know how to taste it.

Yelp
This unique Italian restaurant has been here for many years and doesn't disappoint if you want good food with great atmosphere. The restaurant is huge with a main dining area and some large private rooms. Built in the old courthouse they have jail cell doors protecting the wine and washrooms, paying homage to the buildings historic past. Service was fantastic- our server was super friendly and helpful. He gave us recommendations on the food and even local things to do. Food wise - the zucchini stuffed flowers were amazing as a starter. Complimentary bread with olive oil and peppers were very good. My wife had the ravioli (good flavours but small portions) and I had the seafood spaghetti. Good portion size and amazing flavours. Also the food came out so quick- think we were in and out in under 40mins. This is a very good place for food and unique ambiance.

Yelp
One of my favourite places for Italian food. Their pizza are thin crust with options without tomato sauce!
google avatar

Yelp
Ordered a Capricciosa pizza. Was a thin crust pizza, paper thin, which would have been fine if it wasn't as soggy as it was. Difficult to eat as everything was sliding off the slices as they were picked up and way too greasy. The pistachio ice cream bar was ok, the chocolate on the outside was a bit too sweet for me and the ice cream had no pistachio flavour.

Yelp
I came here for the first time on Good Friday right before a comedy show at Meridian Hall. We made a reservation a few days before and I'm so glad we did, because it was so busy when we went. I noticed the seating here is a bit tight. We were seated in the area with the skylight and our table felt a little cramped as we were seated so close to other couples. Our server was very kind and attentive, but he was pretty hard to get a hold of at times. We were started off with some fresh bread & olive oil. I wish they would also given us some balsamic vinegar to mix the oil with and possibly warmed up the bread. For drinks, I tried both the Lilli & Terroni Sour. Both were good, but I liked the Lilli better. We decided to share the following: Li Pecuri Pizza Tonnarelli Cacio e Pepe Dark Chocolate Lava Cake Overall, it was a pretty good experience. For us it was the best option on a holiday nearby to the venue we went to next. However, I don't think I would come back here.

Yelp
This was a great find for creative Italian food at the edge of Old Toronto. The restaurant is in a historic building with lots of charm and character. The interior at parts is nearly three stories high. It has a lot of visual interest, and they've further embellished with Italian posters. photos and other colorful items. We made a reservation and were seated immediately in a back area. There appear to be an array of interesting rooms. Seating is packed tight, but the vibe is youthful and very energetic. The room seemed to be full of excited conversation. The menu has a good number of choices. We selected to share a Giuggiolosa salad that was excellent. It was fresh, flavorful, and the dressing simple and perfect to not overpower the ingredients. The grilled red peppers and exceptional gorganzola cheese were a highlight. The drizzle of honey was almost undetectable, which was fine as too much could ruin it. I went on to choose the Garganelli Geppetto. Wow, it was good! The pasta is an interesting rolled tube, small but such a great shape. There's spicy sausage, dandelion leaves, and a very light sauce. The dish was superb and just the right portion. The only misstep which I found awkward at best was I was served my dish, and just as I was about to take a bite, a wait person came swooping in and said I had the wrong dish, swept it away and replaced it with another... that frankly didn't look much different. The service, however, was excellent, and our prime waiter was terrific and very astute. We also had the complimentary bread, which was fresh, warm, and quite appealing. It was accompanied by high-quality olive oil for dipping. I now have a craving to go back and try more!

Yelp
Loved the ambiance. The restaurant was a little bit packed on the day that I went for dinner and quite loud too to have conversations. The food was awesome, here's my rating for everything: Spaghetti - 9/10, the tomatoes were really flavorful & fresh Cacio e Pepe - 6/10 too mild, not enough flavor Pesto - 7/10 kinda mild too, 8.5/10 with chili oil added The flavors were definitely very authentic Italian and I tend to go towards the more spicy route

Yelp
The place you go to on a first date because of the vibes but not the place you go to when you are in a serious relationship because of the vibes LOL. The set up is great for this location and doesn't disappoint when on a first date. Lots of options from the menu and a good test to see how/who splits the pricey bill. Stay for ages if the date goes well and you want to talk more. But would you come back? Probably not because the food is average and the prices don't reflect that mediocrity. Not a quick spot to get in and out of with wait times some times being long and service being slow. At the end of the day the food is nothing to write home about but if the company is good, you have all the time and money in the world to kill - go here!

Anni S.

Yelp
The ambiance was great here. While the tables are relatively close together, it didn't feel tight to me. It's an excited atmosphere and relatively busy when I went on a Wednesday night yet I was seated nearly immediately. My food came out right away, I got the cappricollo pizza and someone else mentioned it was soggy yet I had the opposite experience. It was crisp and fresh. I got the tiramisu and it was creamy and served quickly as well. One thing- I was very nearly served someone else's food and the table next to me was also nearly served someone else's food too. Seems like there was some consistent miscommunication lol. My server was attentive and I'd highly recommend this place if you're looking for an Italian restaurant.

Yelp
SO, as a graduation dinner, my family (5) selected this resturant to have a nice meal together. This building used to be a court house many years ago so that was interesting. The ambiance in the entire building was very nice. Service was excellent and we were seated near the kitchen. I enjoyed watching the cooks/chefs hustle and laugh together while preparing meals for everyone. Looked like a happy place. We ordered Frittura di Calamari and Pane, olivie E taralli to start. The Calamari was on pointe. Not over cooked and not too bready/overly battered very fresh tasting. The olive dip could have been a bit better. My Mom had the Nizzarda which she throughly enjoyed. The Garganelli Geppetto was very tasty and was a good portion. Spaghetti in Canna a Mare was delightful. Spaghetti al limone was good but a little bit too lemony for this particular guest. For dessert, Bomboloni, Torta Calda and Torta Mousse al Limone. All very good. Topped off with coffee Americanos. Service here was excellent!! Oh and you should venture down the the washroom area... very interesting... I will add that if you are a senior or potentially have mobility issues, the washrooms may be difficult to get to unless there is something I missed.

Yelp
Stopped by terroni.to Adelaide before the Raptors game for a quick bite for date night. Originally we ordered the Tonnarelli alla Norcina (italian black truffle shavings, homemade spicy sausage, pecorino, garlic) Our server could tell we weren't a fan and swapped it out for a different pasta of our choice. We ordered the Tagliatelle alla Bolognese (traditional bolognese ragu, parmigiano) instead and for pizza we went with the Contadina (tomato, burrata, roasted tomatoes, grana padano, basil). The pasta was light and to be honest underwhelming in my opinion... The Contadina was quite delicious... The sauce and burrata mixed hand in hand MHMM, the crust was thin and crispy, giving it a nice texture. The interior of this spot was quite unique and the atmosphere was lively. Overall not a spot I would go back to most likely.... Maybe other locations are better? Tagliatelle alla Bolognese 3/5 $24 Contadina 4/5 $26 .

Yelp
We booked out the basement tables for a lunch event with a client. There was a prix fixe menu, everything served family style. Overall, the food was fairly average (in comparison to the influx of other Italian restaurants downtown). There were some hits and misses: for appetizer we had the caprese salad (simple textures but fresh ingredients) and the fried calamari (taste was fine but way too much batter). The pizzas were very mediocre - I wasn't a huge fan of the tomato sauce they used on the margherita pizza, there was something off about the flavour balance. The pastas were pretty ordinary, and unfortunately weren't quite hot when served. The highlight was definitely the excellent tiramisu - the jar it came in was labelled "Sud Forno" so I will just get my fix there next time instead. Service was fast and friendly - but we did go as a large group and presumably paid a hefty gratuity so I can't speak to other dining experiences. Not a bad pick for holding such lunch/dinner events though. :)

Yelp
Made reservations and came here before a show we went to at the Sony centre. It was my friend and our moms that we took with us. We were promptly seated, and our server even got the sommelier we could understand which type of wine we wanted and I have to say we got the perfect pair. We ordered three pass the dishes and two pizzas to share between the four of us, and it was the right amount of food. This is the second time I've been to this location and I have to say I have yet to be disappointed

Yelp
This location sits within an old courthouse with old prison cells in the basement and all. Makes for a fun atmosphere - especially for the history buffs. Menu and food are good. Friendly, attentive service. I tried a few different starters including the calamari and burrata. My actual entree - the bolognese- was only okay.

Yelp
I had supper last evening at Terroni Adelaide (on Adelaide E.) with three friends. We all had pizza. I had a Sophia pizza (tomato, mozzarella, sweet genoa salame). It was delicious and I took half home for my lunch today. Alex was friendly and chatty and took good care of us.

Yelp
The location was great and easy walking. The building is fabulous. The place was buzzing for mid week. The staff was very friendly and the food was indded delicious. Definate must try if in Toronto. The only downside was that the bill was brought to us whilst eating dessert and made me feel rushed.

Yelp
Excitedly arrived at this prime Terroni location, welcomed by the classical decor that keeps the remnant of the historic Court House. They have multiple spaces (for bars, shops, and dining spaces) and floor levels (3 levels), each of which had a different vibe. In spite of the glorious interior, the vibe was friendly and social. We had # Carpaccio di Manzo (raw beef tenderloin, lemon juice, EV olive oil, Parmigiano shavings, arugula) # Calamari alla Griglia (grilled calamari, mixed greens, capers, onions, fresh tomatoes) # Spaghetti al Limone (spinach, capers, parmigiano reggiano shavings, lemon, EV olive oil) # Tiramisu The food was - good... though not super impressive. The presentation was somewhat disappointing for the price. Calamari was super tender with a hint of charcoal. I should have saved the complimentary bread to finish the load of tomato dressing. It would be nice if I had bread to scoop it. Also, to eat the finely diced tomato and calamari together, it would be nicer to have a spoon. I thought of asking for a spoon but the server seemed to be very busy so I ate without it. The spaghetti was cooked al-dente with a well-balanced lemon cream sauce. The carpaccio was tender but with way too much Reggiano. The seasoning and presentation were simple, not sophisticated, and boring - but the beef quality was good. I shared the items with my girlfriends. But there were no serving plates and serving utensils brought to the table. We had to wait for some time to ask for them. Also, in the middle of each dish (after finishing more than half of each dish), the server asked if we wanted pepper over dishes. Forget it, too late. We said no thanks. Overall, good enough to enjoy a great chatting night with my girlfriends in a comfortable seating :). It was a weekday night, but when we were leaving (around 7) the tables were almost full. People are in and out of the entrance - I think it is a great place for after-work socialization.

Yelp
Stopped in without a reservation and the hostess told us there were no tables available, so I checked OpenTable and sure enough reservations were available at that time, so we walked right back in with a reservation and were seated - which started things off with a bit of a poor taste in our mouths. Our waiter, on the other hand, was phenomenal - one of the best that I've ever encountered. His recommendations were on-point and he kept checking in to make sure we were enjoying. We split the verde salad and it was okay - I would have preferred different greens, but the mains were delicious - both the rigatoni alla norma and the ravioli ricota e spinaci. Definitely food worth checking out - and I wish I had tried the pizza as well because it looked delicious as it was brought out to other tables!

Yelp
Dined here with a friend in late May '23. We had booked ahead but the place was absolutely packed when we arrived. The hostess found us a spot on the delightful patio at the rear where we able to enjoy the pleasant weather without the noise and crush of the main restaurant. Our waitress was one of those blessed with 360 degree vision, so we were always well refreshed. Food was quite excellent, ambience perfect and prices very reasonable. Overall a great experience. And you have to check out the bathrooms in the basement! Definitely one to visit again next time I'm in the big city.

Yelp
Dined here for the first time, we've heard many good things and surprisingly enough we never made the trip down to have a meal. Our table was ready promptly at 7:30 We had arrived early and waited in the bar area, checked out the menu. My wife and I typically order an app, two mains to share, and (sometimes) dessert. Our server was quick, we asked her for recommendations/choices and she did not disappoint. We were torn between the selection of pastas/pizzas and we had shortlisted them for her. The Food: Burrata (Delicious, comes with crostini, prosciutto) enough to share for 2. The cheese was very creamy, however I would have included some black pepper on my own version - but i'm not a chef Tonnarelli alla Norcina (homemade spicy sausage, pecorino, italian black truffle shavings) Good portion size, pasta was al dente, good chew to the noodle, flavor wise the pasta was good, however wish it was seasoned a little more? No complaints otherwise. Affitisciuta (tomato, mozzarella, smoked scamorza, homemade spicy Italian sausage) The pizza arrived hot and fresh - you gotta eat this one quick though otherwise it cools down fast, good crispy bite ton the crust, very thin, good flavor on the pie. I took my time eating this cause I wanted to be a gentleman and not absorb a pizza like a garbage compactor - plus my wife would be embarrassed. To Finish: I heard really good things about the tiramisu, my wife also has a sweet tooth. We ordered one to share, it was just enough. TIramisu was light enough and wasn't overkill in ordering. The hype met the expectations. The Drink: The restaurant also has a make your own gin and tonic special - My wife ordered an elderflower tonic with gin - she found the aromas very pleasant and was not too sweet to drink. The Service: While we arrived early, our table was ready right on time, after we were seated our server came almost right away. She stepped away for a sec to grab us water. We were ready to order by the time she came back. After ordering she immediately came back with some much needed bread, olive oil and some chili oil. (My wife gets hangry so this was perfect) Our burrata came out quickly (we also did not know there would be bread with it) After maybe 10-15 minutes, we got our mains. We were out the door in an hour or so and was very pleased with the experience. Our server was friendly, staff was friendly overall, can't say much other than pretty satisfied. Would come back for sure.

Yelp
Everything was so great here. Environment, the staff, our waitress was funny and had amazing suggestions! She has really great taste. Appetizer was delicious and pasta was amazing!! But we surprisingly got full off the shared appetizer and pasta that we really struggled eating the pizza. But I love how they do the crust. Super good. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Beautiful dining space at their Adelaide location that is perfect for a date night or out with friends. Food was good as well for both the appetizer & main pasta/pizza dishes. The service was attentive such as frequent water refills.

Yelp
This review is just on the takeout at Terroni so mostly reflective on that. I ordered through an app and did pickup. - Tonnarelli alla Norcina: One of their most popular pasta dishes at Terroni. This pasta was definitely one of the nice pasta dishes I've ever had and was good quality. The flavours went well together and had a good amount of meat. Though, I personally wouldn't get this unless it's a special occasion because it's quite expensive for a pasta dish (around $28-$29). - Tiramisu: This dessert is always a must try whenever I try out Italian places! The tiramisu was very creamy, and quite rich flavour. It was quite small though for what you pay for. Would I go here again? I would definitely want to experience how dine-in would be like but it's more of a rare occasion place for me as it's on the high end side. However, the food quality was good and worth the visit.

Yelp
A perfect meal after a full day! We came in around 6:15 pm on a Thursday. The wait was 45 minutes for a two top, so we sat at the bar. No one else was sitting there, so service was prompt (and friendly!). Our server started us off with complimentary bread and two dipping sauces. Bread tasted fresh and house-made, we loved the fluffiness and crunch combo. The first sauce was an olive oil. The second sauce was a red pepper-based oil. If you're not a spice person, I do NOT recommend! I only dipped my bread in the sauce part, not picking up any of the pepper bits, and it was incredibly hot! For our meal, we ordered the: --Margherita pizza ($18). It's a Margherita pizza, so there's not many ways to fail this. But it really was spectacular. It came uncut (that's just their thing I guess). It was light and soft, with a crunchy crust. Cheese was perfect amount and tasted great with the crisp basil. --Rigatoni alla Norma ($22). This was a ziti-type pasta with a richly flavored red sauce and sliced eggplant. Terroni hit it out of the park with this one! The sauce had a sweet touch and the eggplant was perfectly sautéed and seasoned. We shared both meals and scarfed them down--in and out of the restaurant in 45 minutes. By the time we left, the line was to the door. The inside was nice to look at, the building used to be an old courthouse and you see gorgeous touches in all the details, from the crown moldings on the ceilings to the massive hanging clock in the lobby. My only suggestion would be to trade the pepper oil for a balsamic with the opening bread. The pepper had just too much heat and I could still taste it when taking my first bite of the pasta. Overall a great visit though!

Yelp
I had the displeasure to be told that my food will taste like feet if they add cheese. Also don't ask for Parmesan cheese w your bread. It's s sacrilege! Never again.

Yelp
We came here on a Wednesday night to celebrate my sister's birthday. We made a reservation and our table was ready and right in front of the entrance. The restaurant used to be a courthouse and the basement has jail cells! Cool! Most of the architecture has been preserved inside. Once you enter there's a bar on the left and takeout and food delivery pickup by the hostess area. We ordered various a charcuterie board, grilled calamari and various pasta dishes. There is complimentary bread served with olive oil and red peppers. The bread was fluffy in the middle and crispy on the crust. The board had a small selection of cheeses, prosciutto, mortadella, and salami. There's honey, olives and small breadsticksbon the side. We were hungry so this board was done fast! Thinly slice meats were tasty and goes well with the cheese and honey. Don't forget to get a bottle of wine! They have huge selection of wine ranging from 5oz / 1/2 btl / full btl. Some vintage selections are by the bottle. We selected the 2018 Montefalco Rosso DOC. The wine was very smooth and went well with our charcuterie board and pasta. I ordered the Spaghetti in Canna a Mare which consists of spaghetti with scallops, shrimps, mussels, clams and calamari. This is a seafood paradise with spaghetti and pomodoro tomato sauce. There's a hint of spiciness in the sauce. Hit the spot! My wife ordered the Ravioli di Zio Paperone - filled with duck confit, roasted butternut squash, oyster button mushrooms and Parmigiano. The duck was highlighted in the ravioli. There was a generous portion amd really filling. I didn't try the other pastas but everyone enjoyed their food. The desserts we ordered were tiramisu and Torta Calda al Cioccolato and gelato. Torta was amazing it was a flourless dark chocolate cake with white chocolate ganache. The cake was warm and had a liquid chocolate centre. Very rich but irresistible. The experience was great only downside was the grilled calamari was never served. The order either got lost in the kitchen or served to another table. The manager did come by to apologize and offered us an Italian liqueur to make up for the mix-up. Secondly our orders did not come out at the same time. If you are looking for an authentic taste of Italy come to Terroni on Adelaide. Nice ambience to go with great food and vino. Nice place to celebrate a milestone or have a romantic date.

Yelp
My friends and I saw good things about this restaurant so we snagged a last minute reservation. Unfortunately, it failed to live up to our expectations overall. I really like the ambiance of the restaurant though there were some... interesting design choices. Namely some creepy dolls hanging on the far wall. Bad vibes. Service was attentive and checked in with us frequently. We ordered the crispy mushroom salad to start, as well as a gin and tonic, a peach Bellini, and the Terroni sour. The drinks were good, but the crispy mushrooms were just ok. It was served on a ton of arugula and some parm, but it was a bit dry and lacking in flavor. The mushrooms did get nice and crispy though. We got complimentary bread and olive oil as well. The bread had a good texture and tasted fresh but it was cold. The olive oil tasted interesting but without balsamic I didn't enjoy it as much as I usually would. Unfortunately, our main dishes continued the trend of kinda ok kinda meh kinda bad. We got the duck ravioli, seafood pasta, and bruma (carbonara) pizza. The duck ravioli had great flavor and I enjoyed the earthy, pate-like duck filling. However, the pasta was strangely tough and chewy. The sauce was also just vaguely savory and lacking complexity. I was hoping to use the free bread to mop up the sauce but it wasn't worth the extra space in my stomach. The seafood pasta had the opposite problem. The pasta noodles themselves were perfectly Al dente, but the flavors were not enjoyable. It tasted like plain, overly salted tomato sauce, and was fishy in a bad way. Some of the seafood was cooked well (squid) but the clams/mussels were unpleasantly mushy and I definitely tasted sand in some of them. Finally the pizza was the biggest disappointment. Not only was the crust suuuuuper tough and rubbery, the pizza was bland and only tasted like the salted meat on top. It felt like the pizza wasn't baked enough. There was no bubbly, melty cheese, and the dough was way too dense. If Terroni insists on serving pizzas to us uncut, please create a crust that actually allows us to cut it thanks. Overall I've definitely had far better Italian food elsewhere, and do not plan on returning except maybe for a drink. Perhaps we didn't order the right dishes, but when an Italian place stumbles on pasta and pizza doughs, the backbone of their dishes, you can find me with my eyebrows raised in mild disappointment.

Yelp
Visited Terroni with some friends for my birthday. For the four of us we ordered the fried calamari, two pizzas (Puzza & Sofia), and the friday pasta special (white wine sauce with clams). I also ordered the hazelnut & pistachio gelato. The ambience of the restaurant was really nice, the decorations add to the vibe. The four dishes were enough to feed the four of us. The Puzza was really good, I didn't enjoy the Sofia as much not sure if that's because I found it too salty. I didn't enjoy the pasta either, it was a bit off, I wish it had a creamier base with the white wine. The hazelnut and pistachio gelato were really good. The hazelnut gelato tastes exactly like a Ferrero rocher. Their "birthday celebration" is putting the candle on the dessert I ordered.

Yelp
Excellent restaurant with a lot of great wine options. Pastas, pizzas and salads were all good choices for the night and the food

Yelp
Delicious, great portions and great cocktails. The service was also prompt and attentive. The space is also beautiful lit and a lot of space. Lively place to have dinner

Yelp
Came here for dinner on Thursday. Nice ambiance in the place but quite a bit of stairs. Decor is nice and there are what looks like communal tables as well as individuals. Started off with a Spinosa to drink (a bit pricy $16 but it is downtown and the drink was tasty). It was Averna, ginger beer and lemon juice. I liked it but all cocktails here are like $16. Oh well, treat yourself. I shared a pizza and a pasta with a friend. Starting with the pizza , had the Bufalina, which is a nice light pizza, tastes wood oven. It was tomato, mozzarella and basil. Basil I think was just decor as there was only 2 leaves, but taste wise, it was a good pizza. Added some of the complimentary chili in olive oil and it was a hit. It was downtown so $22 for the pizza I would assume is normal. The pasta we shared was a Tonnarelli alla norcina, which is a pasta with their home made sausage with black truffle. I'm usually not a big fan of the the pungency of truffle but my friend ordered it and I found it not over powering. I actually liked the flavour of this dish and the sausage was very flavourful. Pasta was el dente and the dish was nice. Table next to me had the pappardelle, which looked really good , so if I went back would definitely try that. Overall experience was that it was a good dinner. Not sure I would go out of my way to go back, but if in the area again, would go back for a nice dinner. Would recommend having a reservation, as the place was getting pretty packed around 630.

Yelp
Adding to my previous review to note that I've returned and had a truly excellent pizza (monthly special) with porchetta and rapini, which is a combination I hadn't fathomed previously but it works! Tiramisu and Terroni sour were also top-notch.

Yelp
The interior of this location is magnificent. You can really sense that it was previously a old court house. The architecture of the building and designs really make Terroni one of a kind... just kidding. Terroni has multiple locations and my experience was lacklustre. Our service was pretty average, there was nothing extraordinary nor was it bad either. I did question why we had to request for the complimentary bread but it was busy so I'll give them the benefit of the doubt. Food wise, our group ordered different items from the menu. We started off with the calamari, which was decent - beware there is no sauce.. or salt! Just lemon and the taste of the squid. Next, was the burrata and prosciutto which were the best thing we had. Pasta wise we got the duck ravioli and ricotta spinach ravioli, seafood spaghetti, spicy sausage & mushroom pappardelle and whichever the Saturday special was. All were decent but there was no depth or flavour whatsoever. The best out of the 5 was probably the duck ravioli and even so, the filling was a tad dry. Their pizza selection is massive, the waitress definitely helped with recommendations and we ended up sharing the Scattagengive. It honestly tasted like a typical pepperoni pizza. Nothing special. Also be prepared to eat the pizza with a fork and knife! I know it's how they do it in Italy but it's tough cutting up slices if you're in a big group (and no they wouldn't allow any scissors or to cut it for us). Lastly, if you're looking to celebrate a birthday here - don't expect anything complimentary. You'd think a restaurant that is this popular would offer something for their guests but guess their not a typical restaurant. To be fair, the $13 tiramisu was fairly good. I don't really see what the hype is about. Food is decent and basic restaurant philosophies aren't followed, but the atmosphere and the building itself are worth experiencing. 3/5

Yelp
Would have been nice to know when I ordered that my pizza wouldn't be sliced. No utensils included, and I have none. Guess instead of a quick and delicious dinner I can wait until after work to buy something to cut this with... I would have included a review of the food if I had any means to eat it.

Yelp
Terroni is a very solid classic Italian spot. Toronto has a lot of great Italian food, but places like Terroni occupy a certain niche between the fast casual chains and the upscale spots. In this niche, you find a sweet spot where you can have a delicious dinner at reasonable prices, with quick and efficient service. While Terroni has their own strict rules when it comes to food (no cheese on the seafood pasta, no sauce with calamari, etc) most of them are fairly understandable, but not cutting our pizzas is one I will never understand! One reason that just makes me prefer sticking to the pastas when I go here, though both the pastas and pizzas are great. Overall, you're sure to enjoy a consistently good dinner with equally comparable service in their cozy space. But please let's keep asking them to cut our pizzas until they relent!

Yelp
We went to Terroni for the first time to celebrate anniversary dinner. We expected a lot from this restaurant and it ended up being less than what we hoped for. The restaurant's vibe is nice, but we got a very tiny seat and quite literally right next to another couple. You can hear the conversations as if we're sitting together (because we technically are like sitting on the same table). It was loud since it was busy and the tables are so close to each other. We hoped for a more private and intimate experience but unfortunately was not met. The food was okay, I ordered the mushroom pappardelle and I've had better. I found the price unfair for the size of the serving. My bf ordered the steak and it was big enough for him. I got a glass of wine and it was good. I wish there was more overview of what wine would work best with the food you order. I found the service to be inattentive. The server reached out for our plates without asking if we're done or not. It was awkward. The best part is the dessert; we got the flourless dark chocolate and it was delicious. We would consider going back just for this cake. But the food, not really.

Yelp
- pastas are awesome, highly recommend duck confit ravioli, sharing with other people will be better, kinda heavy to finish the whole plate (or my Asian genes just love to share dishes) - the seats and table are small - the interior design reminds me of the University halls in England with huge chandelier - great service! Very helpful staff!

Yelp
Lively restaurant. Decor is perfect for the theme of the atmosphere inside. Service was amazing. Food was decent.

Yelp
I can only assume the 3.5 Star is from tourists who haven't tasted proper Italian food. it's hard to get better than Terroni for consistency time after time. I don't even like arugula and I will inhale an order of funghi assoluti, arugula & all in a matter of minutes. The Truffle / Norcina pasta is also a reliable favourite. Pizza is good too, but again it's served un-cut and that might not jive with a certain clientele. Good for groups, lots of options for everyone. Cute back patio too.

Yelp
Our server was quick and kind :). And our food came out at a wildly quick pace. We ordered and then not even 10 minutes later we had our food. However, maybe it was quick to a fault because the spaghetti we ordered was harder than al dente. But at least the tomato sauce was fresh and tasty. We also ordered the grilled calamari but it was really underwhelming and bland. Thirdly, we ordered the Mangiabun pizza and this was really good.

Yelp
Didn't quite live up to my expectations and the memories I had of this place from the years past. Had dinner here after a gap of 2 or 3 years. Food was below par this time. My pizza ( Don Corrado) was a let down. It was slightly overdone and being thin crust made it really hard to work with the knife. I asked my server whether he could have it scored and his answer was their tradition did not allow that. So I lived with it and sweated over it a bit to get it into manageable bite sizes. And the taste and texture was below average. The Rigotoni arcobaleno was better than the pizza while the the fettuccini Alfredo tartufo was underwhelming. We had 3 different dessert- the tiramisu was average while the Torta Calda and the Budino Caramello were not quite to our liking. Overall came away a bit disappointed. The place was noisy, music too loud and the service nothing to shout home about.

Yelp
My family went to Terroni on Adelaide to celebrate my birthday last night and it was 5 star service! 6 adults, 3 kids. The service was prompt and friendly, very accommodating to my grandkids. The environment was welcoming for all ages. The timeline between ordering and serving was quick and the food was delicious! I feel it is important to recognize quality when I see it and Terroni on Adelaide defines quality. Well done to the Terroni team

Yelp
WHEW......... If this is 3.5 stars in Toronto, I don't even know what 5 stars is. Terroni was our first stop on our work trip. Whether SF pasta is just bad, or if Toronto standards are high, I have no idea-- what I can say is that I LOVED the food here. For COVID safety purposes, guests/staff must wear masks, tables are sanitized and spaced apart, and vaccinations are required. Our party was seated in the private side room, which offered a cozy, intimate ambiance. Staff are lovely-- our server was friendly, knowledgeable, and patient (esp with all 10+ of us). FIORI DE PERO: I could have sworn this was juice until the Asian glow kicked in LOL. Amazing. The sweetness of the pear nectar really pops. + decent amount of vodka. I'm a huge fan. SPAGHETTI IN CANNA MARE: Their fresh pasta is PHENOMENAL. Paired with a lightly spicy, tart sauce and sweet shellfish-- WOW. Note: when the menu says they're against adding cheese to this dish, they mean it. My colleague tried asking, and she was firmly (but politely) declined. TWICE. They're serious about having the seafood flavor shine through-- and after trying it myself...... They're right. The shellfish are more than fine on their own. I've already bookmarked this location to visit whenever I'm back.

Yelp
went there today i had never been and i found the plaque outside that said the building was an original courthouse built in 1853. i looked it up and was excited to see inside. when i walked in nobody greeted me , finally the gal from the bar approached me and asked me if i would like a table. i said yes and two greeters who were kind of hiding in the back finally approached me. the lady smiled but didn't say anything so i was confused why she wouldn't ask me if i wanted a table she just looked at me without saying a word. the guy standing beside her was just as bad, he said absolutely nothing. now i have been eating in restaurants for about 60 yrs and i found this very unusual behavior from a first impression standpoint. finally she seated me , i found the atmosphere weird. the tables were old wooden ones that looked like they were bought 100 yrs ago, not even a tablecloth. the water was room tempature and i like my water cold, is it too much to buy some ice cubes. now my female server was very nice and went over the menu with me,i ordered a margarita and it was very good. i ordered the ravioli with spinach and cheese and it was quite good. the pasta was a bit tough and undercooked although it did taste good. the tables were too close together restaurants do this to squeeze in as many customers as they can to make money , the chairs were old wooden ones and very uncomfortable. toronto is supposed to be a world class city but terroni is not a world class restaurant . will never return to this location.

Yelp
We dressed "casual-chic", staff dressed "hobo-frump". FRUIT FLIES swarmed our table from start to finish as annoying as our pushy waiter and awkward table arrangements. Grilled calamari definitely pre frozen. Cantaloupe and prosciutto week old, cling wrap fresh. Uninspiring mains concluded with a chocolate lava cake as appealing as a steamy turd scraped hot off the street. Appalling dungeon washroom worse than 9 out of 10 gas stations. I waited 10 minutes for a poor old lady to navigate her way down the steep, narrow stairs to the dark, dank basement washroom. Honestly I never saw her again. I'm so upset we selected Terroni as the venue for our special event.

Yelp
I was so excited to come here bc it was hyped up by alot of my friends, little did I know the quality of food differed based on location... I came here for my birthday with my family and we were immediately greeted by friendly staff! I was optimistic...but then the menu...no chicken items? Only 1 beef (steak) item? Fine, I get it, I'm at a pasta joint. I'll order pasta. I read some good reviews about the duck confit pasta but based on pictures thought it might be too small to satisfy my giant appetite, so we ordered a caprese salad to share My son (3yrs old) wanted pasta and so we ordered spaghetti (with red sauce) off the unofficial "kids menu" (which we found out afterwards had adult prices) My wife ordered the gnocchi (an Italian classic) The verdict: Food: 2/5 The duck confit ravioli...fancy name, but sadly lacking in flavor The caprese salad - looked beautiful but once again, plain Gnocchi- delicious! (Yay finally a win) And finally, the $16 "kids pasta" - plain, lacking flavor and punch (my son did not even eat it) I will say though, the fresh bread was delicious and came with this amazing spicy, red "punch you in the face delicious" spread So why a 3/5 rating then? The service and the bread, and the fact that it's covid and I'm trying to be nice.. Hopefully other locations are better tasting, but I won't be going to find that out

Yelp
I visited here for lunch with my colleagues and were seated in an outdoor patio with plenty of umbrellas around to cover us from the sun. The patio was lovely at the back of the restaurant and away from a busy street so it wasn't too loud or disruptive while dining. In terms of their menu option, they have a daily pasta option (which is what I got) and the rest of the menu is what you would expect to see when you dine in any Italian restaurant. I got the homemade gelato for dessert and it was good. Overall, it met expectations but otherwise wasn't necessarily spectacular. Just to quickly add, service was good and they accommodated our party well.
