The 33 Best Restaurants In Melbourne 2023

"Terror Twilight is an all-day cafe that’s wholesome in more ways in one. Light streams in through huge Venetian-clad windows, and there’s cozy booth seating and plenty of greenery, both hanging from the ceiling and on the menu. Build-your-own bowls include options like brussels sprouts with honey mustard, edamame with chili oil, and sumac-spiced smashed avo. Yes, there are kale smoothies, but there’s also coconut cold-brew coffee—splash of rum optional." - ellen fraser

Loved their new pancakes with thyme, salted popcorn and apple…adventurous yet so familiar and comfortable flavors for this winter. The coffee were amazing too. Would recommend better a long black rather than the magic just to taste better the coffee bean.

Stepping into Terror Twilght on a wet, bustling Saturday felt like entering a delightful whirlwind, but thankfully, Laura was there to greet us! Despite the flurry of activity and a short wait (which, honestly, just built the anticipation), Laura didn't just take my name, she ingrained it. By the time we left, she not only remembered mine but charmingly extracted my wife's name too – a feat of memory sharper than my morning espresso! The cocktails were so delightful, they practically serenaded us, and the food was so absolutely delicious and generously portioned, we might still be recovering from a happy food coma. Despite the lively atmosphere, service was lightning-fast, leaving us with zero complaints and fully satisfied bellies. We absolutely enjoyed every minute here which has left us eager to return and explore more of that irresistible menu.

My sister & I traveled to Terror Twilight for brunch & loved it. Vibes were great, coffee was stunning & food gorgeous. I got the pancakes, I will say the texture is different because they’re gluten free, but they were delicious nevertheless. & the staff were lovely. There was a wait on seating but we understood seeing as they were busy & we’re happy to wait.

Genuinely phenomenal grub here - was blown away with the flavour combos and originality of choices on the menu. Opted for the all day breakfast choices, green eggs and the fritters of which were my highlight, doused in a spicy chilli oil so a bit of heat behind it. Lovely servide as well. Would return and can’t recommend enough.

Delicious food (my fav dish would be the dish with the pate and crunchy honey toast), good coffee, nice space with good ambience music. If you want to explore the Fitzroy vibe, just come here and it has all that you need. The wait might be long on the weekend.

What a little gem. Basically a vegan Asian fusion restaurant. Caters well for any dietary requirements. I tried the matcha strawberry latte and it was delicious. My friends had the bowls and eggs, and guess what? They raved and raved about it. A wonderful place to sip a cuppa and just relax

We got here on a Monday morning. I'm sure it's a popular cafe normally, but it was very crowded, probably because some of the nearby cafes are closed on Mondays. We sat on the terrace, which was nice and sunny even though it was right next to a busy road! The vegan smashed avocado we ordered had a lot of avocado on it and was seasoned with a very Mexican flavor. It was delicious with a nice sour and chili flavor. The French fries that I ordered as recommended by the waiter were also delicious. There are other vegan options too, so I'd like to try them again.

Yelp
Best toastie in town. Service is always on point and friendly. Coffee is great. Music is eclectic and played from the record player. Record rotation is displayed on the wall. What more could you want?

Yelp
Now Terror Twilight is a pretty unusual name for this cafe, as it will fill you with delight, not Terror, and it's probably best to visit at the crack of dawn, to enjoy their great coffee - provided by Brunswick's Wide Open Road, and sample their gorgeous breakfast menu. We visited on one of their quieter days, and although it was almost empty when we arrived, about half the tables quickly filled up with patrons visiting for a mix of coffees and pastries (Also made by Wide Open Road), or breakfast. It's a simple, clean fit out and works well for laid back brunches or a calm environment for a business meeting. There are a range of tables, including two well suited for larger groups. The menu comes in roughly two parts- there's your more traditional breakfast options - free range eggs, avocado, pikelets, porridge, fritters etc. and then there's Bowls or Broths, which are definitely going to become Terror Twilight's trademark. There's a lot to love about them - they're healthy, full of flavour, fresh and totally on trend. Choosing them comes in 4 parts. Firstly, decided if you want a bowl or a broth, then choose base, add your sides, and a protein. I opted for haloumi, sweet potato, and tumeric + cumin tossed cauliflower in my bowl, with a base of broccoli and winter greens and chicken for my protein. My other half went for a chicken broth, with buckwheat noodles, a soft boiled egg and fresh bokchoy, enoki mushrooms, beanshoots and thai basil, adding salmon for his protein. I want to say the best thing about them is that they are so healthy, but it's not. It's either that they are so delicious, or that you get to build your own dish, so they are really versatile, or that they cater really well for dietary requirements - so you can please everyone! We also got to try the pikelets, which came with grilled plums, cherry and cardamom syrup, coconut yoghurt and hazelnut brittle. These were also vegan and were amazing, they were light and airy and really tasty. They were so easy to eat, I could have devoured about 100 of them. I enjoyed the syrup and the brittle, but I think a smaller fruit like blueberries or strawberries would have completed the delicate pancakes better. A quick final word on the coffee. My other half tried the batch which is a strong, but enjoyable brew - will really wake you up. You can customise this by adding extra shots too. We liked the healthy conscious, clean eats undertone of Terror Twilight. It's not in your face about it, but most of the menu is healthy, fresh food. It tastes great and really sets you up well for the day. It's a got a good all day, versatile menu, with plenty of options to keep you coming back.
