"In the northern part of the Aire and Candeeiros Mountains Natural Park, and relatively close to the spiritual town of Fátima, the small parish of Alvados surprises visitors with a tremendously unique restaurant; it is no coincidence that the chef in charge, Diogo Caetano, considers it his own personal culinary haven! Inside its modern setting, dominated by wood and with large glass panes overlooking both the surroundings and the adjacent hotel pool, you can enjoy creative cuisine that always aims to exalt the region’s flavours and produce. It offers an à la carte service (we especially enjoyed the venison tartare with roasted garlic and mustard ice cream) and a good tasting menu (9 courses)." - Michelin Inspector

Beautiful restaurant in the countryside. We had a very lovely lunch. The Chef has a beautiful philosophy about food. (True) Local products are highlighted. Flavors are really Amazing. They were kind enough to make something special for our child. Highly recommended!

Integrated in a hotel, this cosy place with limited seating has a great atmosphere. For the “9 moments menu”, highlights to the venison tartare and the pork cheek. The monkfish was a bit underwhelming and the goat cheese used in some of the dishes lacked punch, sometimes could be mistaken for regular cheese. Some portions could have 20% more content but it was still satisfying. Vegetables were fresh and very well seasoned and prepared. Most of the produce was local and the chef was very knowledgeable about where everything came from to the individual producer. At the end of the chefs menu I wished it offered a small cheese tasting since it is available à la carte but maybe in the future it will be considered. All in all, a great place to have a meal in a valley surrounded by olive trees.

We had lunch at Terruja and loved it! The food is absolutely amazing and special, the atmosphere relaxed and friendly. My favourite was the vegetarian main dish, a sort of ravioli with egg, spinach and artichoke. I love to try the vegetarian option as it really shows the chef’s creativity and skills and thisone was probably the best I ever had! Highly recommend.

Delicious. Very reasonably priced. A stunning meal. Walking the Nazare-Fatima trail, we paused overnight in Alavados and this was the only restaurant open. Luckily we were able to book a table. What a treat. Each course delivered. Lovely staff and great atmosphere. Kudos to the chef. Thank you.

Excellent evening. As a "fussy" eater, I was worried it'd be too "fancy" but every single dish of the 9 course tasting menu (definitely recommended) was delicious. The chef asked in advance if there was anything I really didn't want to eat and swapped one dish for me. The wine pairings were brilliant too. The chef explained each dish and the level of interaction was perfect - enough to inform us and make us feel welcome but then we were left to enjoy each dish. They do simpler "dish of the day" lunches during the week and of course a full menu beyond the tasting menu. And the tasting menu changes every few weeks - soon they will introduce the spring menu. Also veggie options and if informed in advance they can adapt the tasting menu for vegetarians. The chef is from the area but has previously worked in restaurants with 1, 2 and 3 michelin stars. And its shows. Wishing Chef Diogo and his team every success in this new venture. Not cheap, but amazing value for the quality of the food and the whole experience. We will definitely be back.

Wonderful restaurant and hospitality! The food is absolutely splendid! Rich flavours, original dishes, and very local-traditional menu, executed at the finest way. We felt in a continues experience, chatting with the chef as we dine, and watching the open kitchen. Definitely a place we’ll return to!

An absolute gem worth a detour and every penny. Great use of local products, especially of the fruits and vegetables of the region.

We found this hidden gem by accident on the way back hicking and we were absolutely amazed by the friendliness (incl. great explanation of every dish and the aromas with the exact right amount of detail), creativity and taste of the dishes. We returned the very next day to enjoy the entire 9 course menu which was an incredible experience (spectecular presentation of the dishes paired with perfect taste and combined with a great variety of wines). Hard to name highlights, just try EVERYTHING, you won't regret it.
