"Even without its signature rooftop igloos, this Italian juggernaut still delights with hand-crafted pasta, a robust wine list and bar program, and a full gluten free menu. A focus on sustainably sourced, organic ingredients like Norwegian salmon help set Terza Ristorante apart. Pro tip: warm weather visitors should request to sit outside to enjoy the large and verdant patio setting." - Katy Spratte Joyce

I drove up from LaCrosse to take my girlfriend to Terza for her birthday, and we had an exceptional experience thanks to our knowledgeable waiter, Jose. He expertly described the chicken piccata, which sounded so appetizing that I ordered it, and he recommended pairing it with gnocchi, which was an outstanding suggestion. It was the best experience I've had at Terza, and I attribute that to Jose's excellent service. Terza would be wise to retain him, as I will definitely return and request him as my waiter.

Terza is one of my absolute favorite restaurants in Rochester. I’ve been here countless times, and it never disappoints — the food and service are always top-notch. During my most recent visit with my partner, we had another incredible experience: • Warm bread basket: They started us off with warm, fresh bread — simple and delicious. • Fried cheese balls (appetizer): Absolutely amazing! Perfectly seasoned, crispy on the outside, melty on the inside, and paired with their house-made marinara sauce (or “mother sauce”), which was incredibly fresh and flavorful. • Wild Mushroom Risotto (my entrée): To die for! Creamy, loaded with mushrooms, well-seasoned, and a generous portion. • Terza Classic Lasagna with Meatballs (my partner’s entrée): Rich, hearty, and delicious. The lasagna was perfectly layered and flavorful, and the Terza Meatballs were some of the best we’ve had — fresh, well-seasoned, and melt-in-your-mouth good. A must-try for any lasagna lover! • Drinks: We enjoyed a glass of wine and an Old Fashioned — both well crafted and a great pairing with our meal. • Dessert: We shared the Tiramisu, and it was the perfect sweet ending. Very well served — the portion is generous and can easily be shared between 2 or even 3 people. Light, creamy, and absolutely delicious. Tip: If you’re curious to see the kitchen in action, ask to sit at the kitchen counter — it’s a fun and unique experience. Pro Tip: They’re usually busy, so I highly recommend making a reservation in advance. Terza continues to set the bar for dining in Rochester. Whether you’re celebrating something special or just craving great Italian food, this place is always a win.

I would eat here often whenever I was in Rochester. The atmosphere is warm, dark, and inviting. The service was phenomenal, very attentive and the food came out much quicker than we thought it would for the place being packed. Everything was delicious, especially the desserts. I highly recommend.

Came for the girlfriend’s birthday and wowza were we impressed. The lobster bisque was incredible and I definitly recommend. As well as the chicken Parmesan. The girlfriend got stuffed mushrooms and she loved that as well as her gnocchi!

Google
Terza absolutely provided the best dining experience that I have ever had. The seafood risotto was phenomenal! The ribeye and filet were fantastic. Even better was the dessert! Our server, Maya, was the best ever. Anyone would be lucky to be served by her.

7/15/2024 - My wife and I came here for dinner, no reservations were needed. The best place I've ate in Rochester so far. I got the Lobster Bisque as an appetizer, Insignia Scallops for the entree and Mushroom Risotto as a side. My wife got the Calamari and Hot Honey Pizza. Lobster Bisque tasted great, full of flavor; I wish I had gotten the bowl instead of the cup. The Calamari is one of the best I've had, it tasted light, not too oily, and the sauce was just enough for the plate. I don't like to eat mushroom, but today is the most mushroom I've ever eaten in one sitting. The Scallops and the Risotto are full of flavors, makes me want to keep eating more and more. The Pizza was a thin pizza and I wish it could have been crispier, otherwise flavors were there. Overall we will be back to try other food on the menu.

Top notch experience. Great food. Great bartender. The chicken piccata is one of the best out there!

Yelp
This was such an amazing experience! I wish we would have discovered this little gem the first night we were in town. There were so many delicious options to choose from and so many ways to mix and match pieces of the menu. Favorites were the Shrimp appetizer off of their special menu, the wild mushroom pasta dish (with fresh made pasta) and the Lemon dessert. But honestly we really delighted in everything that we tried and would have loved to explore the menu further! Our waiter was so friendly and made some fantastic suggestions. You could tell he was as much in love with the menu as the chef must be! The atmosphere was perfect. It was just the right level of dim, which provided for an intimate and romantic setting. If you have the opportunity to eat here, I highly recommend you take it!

Yelp
Food: Delicious & flexible if you have special dietary needs. Gluten-Free pasta was very good! Service: Excellent! Our server was attentive, kind, welcoming, and funny! Ambiance: Romantic, just what we were looking for,

Patrice B.

Yelp
The service was great; Sean did a wonderful job for our business dinner. The ones in the group who had the tagliatelle throughly enjoyed it, in both the chicken alfredo & chicken parm. The tuna tartare, cheese balls, & meatball appetizers were delightful. The lobster bisque was salty. The insignia scallops were amazing. I would visit again.

Yelp
Went here for our Valentines Diner last night. OUTSTANDING FOOD AND SERVICE!! Throughout diner we kept commenting that we need to come here more often. My wife had the Scallops and I the NY Strip steak. We have had the scallop before here and at Pescara and they are excellent. I hesitated to order the steak in an Italian restaurant but was pleasantly surprised! It was the juiciest and most tender strip I have ever had and will repeat (soon)!! Thanks for a Great culinary experience!!

Kevin R.

Yelp
Had the chicken parm was very good! Although I was really looking forward to some veal parm but was not on there menu.

Sheila R.

Yelp
We stopped by this beautiful restaurant for a late dinner. Drinks were first priority and sounded delicious. Old fashioned, mojito and margarita were ordered. Each had good flavor of alcohol, but lacked the exceptional flavor of muddling ingredients like mint or orange, etc. Later we realized that these were on tap... definitely not worth the price paid for a mixologist drink. Salads were amazing! We got the pear and an ancient grains special. Both were exceptionally fresh and delicious. Tuna tartare was ok. Just way too much salt... guess that this must not be the norm bc it's one of their specialties. Chicken parm and chicken pasta were both very good.

Shannon E.

Yelp
Absolutely amazing and highly recommend. Food, service and atmosphere amazing ! We go every two weeks when in Rochester.

Luke G.

Yelp
I was hopeful because the tagliatelle looked hand made. But the Mushroom Tagliatelle dish made the whole experience very disappointing. It was so bland it was as if they ran out of salt. It was quite shocking because the red sauce in the other dishes tasted great... and the chicken was seasoned perfectly. There's good food, and bad food... and then food that is so bland it's bad. This seems harsh, but $24 pasta only dish can't fall this short. Also, the waitress took my order from memory and forgot my drink. This understandable, and I wasn't very upset... but it didn't add to the experience

Yelp
Brittny A-MAZING. Outstanding service, PATIENT she was , calm cool amazing- she took care of 20 guests! Professional, we all had whaat we ordered in record time, outstanding! Thank you Brit for your kind care of our table Now on to food-Belisimo(?) ‍delicious, served warm- all the way around well orchestrated. Everyone got their desired meal on time- all 20 of us!!!thank you all for your kindness and great care to make our experience memorable

Yelp
Good but not great like the sadly closed pescará sister restaurant that closed. I had the walleye Parmesan. The walleye was great but the Parmesan crusted topping does not do it justice. If I came back I would definitely do a pasta. Also tried the tomato bruschetta appetizer which was fresh tasting with the tomatoes but it was nothing special and would not order again.

James B.

Yelp
Ate at the bar which is as moderately busy as people waited for a table. Food was great and I over ordered as the dishes seem to be shareable. Atmosphere is nice, and the bar staff is attentive. I was overlooked initially because I was almost behind the taps. Had a red blend that was reasonable by the glass - my opinion is Restaurants need to take it easy on the by the glass price - which is typically calculated on their cost for the bottle.

Scott S.

Yelp
Picked this on the fly looking to grab a couple afternoon bites. Great happy hour menus that worked perfect for our group. Small salads were well proportioned, pizza was simple and done right, single meatball was enough for all to have a couple bites and not get overfilled!

Yelp
5. Period. Food, Service and Ambience all tops, and not by accident. From service attention to details of spotted glasses, to greeting and cordial right-of-way returning to table... the staff here have been given expectations and they meet them. We were celebrating our final evening in Rochester before moving my daughter to Madison and this was perfect send off. They honored our booth request and every dish was really well prepared. We opted for home made pastas with our dishes and each was delicate or well cooked with fresh accompanying sauce. Not heavy oils... light pappardelle spicy noodle with chicken was really good. Wine selection was good. We went with Super Tuscan Chianti and chatted away as our Appetizer was quickly followed with main course. Thank you for making our night special. Bravissimo.

Alejandra G.

Yelp
They have the best meatballs I ever had. My fiancé got chicken Alfredo and it was a really big portion and he couldn't finish it all. I got a salmon meal and it was better than I would have hoped. We went on a a quiet Monday night so it wasn't really busy. Not too dark or light inside which is perfect for a date night. Our waiter was always checking in on us and was very attentive to our needs. We will definitely be coming back.

Stevo Z.

Yelp
First time at the restaurant and the ambiance was relaxing and warm. We had the Tuna Tartare appetizer which was delicious and excellent presentation. Entrees were the salmon and a butternut pasta; both were outstanding. Nice wine selection. Service was friendly and engaging. Definitely would recommend.

Jamie L.

Yelp
Absolutely outstanding culinary experience! Enjoyed the salad and pasta that was on the "features" menu. If you enjoy dry pasta and a pound per person this isn't the place for you. However, if you enjoy delicious fresh pasta with amazing sauces this is the spot. Well done!

Kate S.

Yelp
I had a craving for pizza and wasn't sure where to go, but once again Yelp didn't fail me in its recommendations when I started searching. I ordered a margherita pizza for pickup, and it was super easy and ready by the time I walked there from my hotel. The place was hoppin' around 6pm on a Wednesday, which is always a good sign. It's a cute place inside and everything smelled delicious. The pizza was phenomenal. It's a great size (I managed to eat about 2/3 or 3/4 last night and threw the last two in the mini fridge for breakfast today, and it was still quite good even cold.) I loved the crust and that they used full slices of tomatoes instead of dicing them up. While some of their menu prices seemed a bit steep, the pizza was very fairly priced for what you get.

Yelp
Food is cooked with passion... unique taste & presentation. Waiters are presentable & very helpful. Classy ambience with attention to details. Crab cake & Salmon dishes are phenomenal. However!!! When it is time to pay, you have to walk with the waiter all the way to the POS machine to tap your mobile !!! Very disappinting end to a wonderful dinner.

Yelp
DO NOT USE "WAITER EXPRESS" to order from this restaurant. Or ANY restaurant, for that matter. They are horrible and 20$ of pasta ended costing 70$. Now for Terza: the gluten-free pasta is absolutely fantastic! Do not hesitate. They will do a side portion if you ask. The mother sauce, which is the House red sauce, is superb. The fettuccine Alfredo is better in the house than delivered. The scallops are perfectly cooked but the mushrooms on top take away from the overall dish. Not a fan although the sauce is delicious. The chicken piccata is difficult to explain... The chicken itself is moist and juicy and wonderful and not like the rubbery stuff we now get in the supermarket, but the coating leaves something to be desired. It is cooked perfectly to a dark, crisp, brown but. I didn't care for the flavor of it and there was not enough lemon. Did not stop me from finishing my plate. Creme Brule was fantastic and they have a very nice wine selection. We also ordered the Mocktail Mojito, and it was delicious! Service is quick and attentive, but not overly so.

V N.

Yelp
We ate supper at the bar, service was great! We got bread, salads, entrees, drinks--everything was delicious. Bartender named Tony was amazing--he was a machine handling drink orders as well as food. The guy next to us had already paid for his meal and started coughing really hard while Tony was taking our order. Tony told us "excuse me" quickly poured the man a glass of water and came back to finish taking our order. He didn't miss a beat. The man drank the water, calmed his cough, then put his coat on and left. @ Tony's boss, this guy has customer service down--he needs recognition! Will definitely eat here again.

Jake S.

Yelp
Do not order a steak here. Bland and no real culinary character. Despite our server playing up that they're more than just a pizza and pasta place and more of a Northern italian trattoria, it really is a pizza and pasta place. Others at my table had pizza and pasta and it was amazing. So, I'd recommend those items and leave the steak to a steakhouse. Their signature potato thing (I'd call it a Rosti) was awful. Browned on the outside and undercooked on the inside and no cheese (Gouda was listed on the menu) mixed in.

Elizabeth N.

Yelp
Such a wonderful experience at this restaurant while we were visiting Rochester! Our server (shoutout to the fabulous Maurice!) gave us some great and thoughtful recommendations and we both really loved our entrees, which were mushroom tagliatelle and gnocchi with meatballs. I have some very serious allergies that can cause anaphylactic shock, and he was careful to communicate with the kitchen about them. He was being so vigilant that he snatched up a side dish mere seconds after it had been set down in front of me by another server simply because he was walking by and noticed that it had been garnished with something that might not have been safe for me. (It turned out that it was safe and the kitchen was also being careful, but he wanted to be sure.) Fellow severe allergy sufferers, you can eat here with minimal fear!!

Cianna B.

Yelp
One of my favorite places for a night out in Rochester. The food is always fresh and tasty with plenty of options for everyone. We started with nice warm focaccia with oil and balsamic. I had the tortelloni rosa this time which was tender and tasty. It was definitely a rich and creamy sauce with peas and prosciutto. Others enjoyed the salmon and chicken parmesan. We miss their rooftop but the indoor atmosphere was fun and lively.

Dawn C.

Yelp
We arrived at about 5 PM on a weekend night and were told upfront that they were completely booked. Fortunately, we were able to sneak a bar side table and ended up having an equivalently excellent experience. The bartender was so friendly and helped us pick out dishes that suit at our tastes from appetizer through dessert. I started with the Terza salad and my partner ordered the fried cheese balls. I cannot say enough about the tiny peppers on the salad - never thought I'd get excited about a vegetable. I ordered the tortelloni and they ordered the lasagna. I normally take home half of my pasta dishes but I simply could not stop myself from finishing it. Likewise, the lasagna quickly disappeared and we ended up taking our dessert to go. This restaurant is such a gem in Rochester and perfect for a romantic date night.

Yelp
At the Mayo this week without a car. A trying week all around. Ordered dinner over the phone (on-line ordering was disabled) and walked to the Restaurant to pick it up. When I returned to my hotel room, we discovered that our order was filled incorrectly. They messed up both entrees and added in three items that I didn't order (but paid for). They offered to redo the order or give us a gift card, but i was not about to walk back to the Restaurant on a chilly night. They should have credited our account. My wife enjoyed her Gnocci (the sauce was not what she ordered) but my lasagna was pedestrian, at best. "Mother sauce" is nothing to write home about and they left off the meatball. For a nice (appearance) place, the food and service were very disappointing. On-line orderers beware.

John C.

Yelp
This is an excellent place making fresh pasta. They have a very nice corner location, are comfortable & connected via elevator to a nice rooftop bar with wonderful view of downtown Rochester, MN. I've had good service & food each time I've visited. I really appreciate their mushroom tagliatelle.

Gerry W.

Yelp
A very enjoyable restaurant with very good Italian food and excellent service. Janson is one of the best servers we have ever had. One change I would like them to make is to go back to beef in their bolognese rather than the pork sausage.?not great It would be a 5 again.

Andria S.

Yelp
Just gave me food poisoning. Don't eat there give me chicken that was undercooked and terrible. I was here for the Mayo Clinic and I throwing up for two days in my room

Clancy C.

Yelp
This restaurant offers great ambiance: it looks good and the noise level is acceptable. I ordered the fettuccini alfredo. If was far from the best I have eaten in the Rochester area. The sauce was grainy, not smooth, and the flavor was weak to the point that it did not taste much like alfredo. We had an excellent server who did all he could to make our experience great. To be fair, most of our group had the pear salad and said it was excellent. I liked the rather quiet well appointed restaurant to the extent that I would likely try it again. But I would not order the fettuccini alfredo.

Owen J.

Yelp
Where to begin... The pasta dishes were served with velvety sauces and perfectly al dente noodles. There is impeccable service, with attentive and knowledgeable staff who are happy to make recommendations or answer any questions you may have about the menu. The real star of the show at Terza Ristorante was the lemon dessert. It has a delicate and airy texture and a perfect balance of sweet and tart flavours. It was the perfect way to end a satisfying meal. Overall, I had an amazing dining experience at Terza Ristorante and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for delicious Italian food. I can't wait to go back and try more of their delicious dishes!

Margaret O.

Yelp
Just had dinner there last night! Rebecca our server was outstanding! Helped us order pasta with little twists that really made a difference !! Had the tortellini and the blue and black pasta that was awesome!! Ceaser salad was very good too they also sell the pasta sauce to go! Will definitely be back. Go hungry

Carissa E.

Yelp
Parking is a little tricky there's lots of construction going on right now, looks like they have a great patio but we dined inside. I don't know how we haven't dined here before, it's quite lovely inside and they are definitely busy! I would suggest making a reservation. We ordered calamari appetizer, it didn't blow me away but it was good. Everything else we ordered was frickin delicious. The hand rolled meatballs were a hit and the freshly made ravioli *chefs kiss* The kids loved their spaghetti and fettuccine Alfredo. I ordered the lasagna in mother sauce - OH EM GEE. It was so good, I had to eat every last piece. The ravioli with lemon butter and artichoke was d to the vine. We will definitely go back here when in town.

Erica A.

Yelp
Food was amazing - fresh hot bread, gorgonzola and poached pear salad, scallops, & tiramisu were all 10/10! Great service and atmosphere.

Rita F.

Yelp
Excellent service and food. The filet mignon was cooked perfectly and was so tender. The peppercorn cream sauce was lovely. The chicken parmigiana was huge and tasty; the homemade noodles with garlic butter were Devine.

Stephanie P.

Yelp
Wow! The place is huge and has a great wine and food menu. They have indoor seating that is extensive with an incredible bar space and a lovely outside dining area. I walked in and and the restaurant was full so I assumed I would have to wait however to my surprise they sat me promptly. I was dining alone and they asked me if I wanted the bar seating or restaurant. I chose the restaurant because I like a standard height table. They put me in a banquette table and I had a fantastic view of the entire place without being in the center of the place. It was truly the perfect seat! I started with their very yummy cheese balls. They are not your traditional cheese balls as the are much larger and the taste is elevated. So good! For my entree I chose the Chicken Picatta and it was a ridiculously large portion , three large pieces of chicken and a very generous portion of angel hair pasta. It is enough for two more days of leftovers.... Oh and last but not least on bit the server was one of the best I have ever had. The manager or owner also visited my table to ask about my dining experience too. So amazing all around, really! If you are in Rochester you must put this place on your list of must tries!

Sarah D.

Yelp
The food is fantastic. A bit expensive but huge portions and full of flavor. The Alfredo was one of my favorite and the steak was perfectly juicy.

Amanda N.

Yelp
This was my husband and I's first time coming here. We ordered the fried cheese balls, tomato basil soup, Cesar salad, chicken fettuccine Alfredo, and seafood risotto. The food is truly to die for! Every bite had an explosion of flavor. I will say, we ordered a sangria, but it was never brought out to us. We didn't really care though since it saved us some money. Also, we were celebrating my birthday. The waitress asked me if I wanted a sundae or a lemoncello shot. I said I wanted the sundae, and she brought out the shot. My husband and I were so confused, but it was also free so can't complain. Overall, we recommend this restaurant and will be back! Edited this review due to our Visa gift card not working after going to Terza. We had 2 Visa gift cards we used at Terza. One was $50 and one was $100. Our waitress gave us back the gift card that was "supposed" to have around $30 left on it. However, I think she gave us back the $50 one that had nothing left on it. She probably took the gift card with remaining money on it for herself. If we do come back, we will make sure to not get her as a waitress. Don't use a gift card here!!!

Bailee N.

Yelp
Quickly seated on a Thursday night. The parking lot behind the building was pretty full, but we managed to snag a spot. There's also a parking garage right across the street so, really, you can't lose (and parking is free in the evenings and on weekends). The inside had a nice vibe to it - a little dimmer lighting, but I thought that was kind of relaxing. It did take a little bit longer than I would have liked for our server to come to our table, and it wasn't until his second trip to the table that he asked for our drink orders. I would have preferred both of those things to happen a bit sooner, but it wasn't enough of an inconvenience to take away from my overall rating of the place. This was probably some of the best Italian food I've ever had! The bread brought out after we order was sooo good! I kind of wish our server had brought us more. We had an order of the fried cheese balls, which I absolutely loved. They were delicious! I had the ravioli pasta with the lemon butter sauce and shrimp added in. You could tell these raviolis were home made because they were basically the best raviolis to ever exist on the planet and I'll probably keep thinking about them for a long time. Actual perfection. For dessert, we had the chocolate almond tortino. It was a little rich, even for me (and I am a chocoholic) but wasn't bad. I'd love to come here again and I definitely recommend trying it out.

Lynne W.

Yelp
Disappointing!!! Service underwhelmed. Oysters were over sold. I used to love this place!

C D.

Yelp
Took my. Family there for a early dinner... regretting done this . The portions are small . I Asked for a side of pasta your lucky if you can get a couple of bites and if you order the seafood dish keep looking for the seafood . There are other places worth going . Traditional fettuccine pasta was hard not cooked . Service was not there and maybe because it's the Midwest but there are ways to talk to customers. Again reconsider going somewhere else . This from a person with Italian descent lower end Italian restaurant

Chris L.

Yelp
Sat at the bar for dessert and drinks. Two bartenders waiting on seven people took over 15 minutes to order. The dessert was average. I ordered cognac Remi and the bartender told me they didn't have any which clearly they did because there was a bottle on the shelf. Once I pointed it out, she literally went outside the bar asked a customer to move who is eating dinner climbed on the bar to get the bottle down. Seem like visiting with the wait staff was more important than serving customers. The interior was decorated nicely, but was not impressed by the service, nor the quality of desserts.

Rutuja S.

Yelp
Love the food ! The best restaurant in Rochester for Italian food. My try their Tiramisu !

Gus R.

Yelp
Returned here after a few months. Food and ambience excellent, solid cocktails, and attentive service. Chef greeted the wife. Had the scallops - expertly cooked and presented. Salad excellent. Definitely go to place for upscale Italian. Compared to others in Rochester 4.5/5 and a two paws up.

Gabrielle M.

Yelp
This is a terrific place- fresh pasta that is so delicious! We love the chicken meatballs too. Tiramisu is unbelievable!

Leeanne H.

Yelp
Excellent wine menu, impeccable personalized service... both my husband & I felt more garlic was needed in the flavor profiles.. the fresh baked bread & Calamari were both outstanding! The handmade tagliatelle was delicious .

Lívia C.

Yelp
This is the best Italian restaurant in town! The food is delicious and tastes like fancy grandma's food. It's perfect for a date night.

Kathryn S.

Yelp
Dined at Terza because a friend gave us a gift card. But it lived up to my friend's hype. Our waiter was great! His recommendations were spot on. We had the chicken piccata and it really was the best I've had. My husband ordered the fig and prosciutto pizza and that was tasty and unique. And the cannolis! Awesome! We are returning this week for that marvelous chicken piccata!

Kathleen K.

Yelp
Rochester is a great place to spend an evening. Great restaurants and a variety of entertainment at the Civic Center. Terza is easily accessible through the skyway system. It is a more intimate restaurant with tables closer together. The restaurant was very full but service was paced well. We skipped the appetizers and went straight to the entrees. High praise for both the soaghetti & meatballs and the Tagliatelle Wild Mushroom (with homemade pasta). The latter had lots of mushrooms. Tiramisu was large enough to share and it was very good. There is an extensive wine list. Cocktail selection is ok. The Perfect Pear cocktail arrived and wasn't mixed properly so the first sip was awful. I almost gave up on it. After vigorous stirring it was drinkable.

MKellman K.

Yelp
Excellent food and excellent environment. Wonderful dinner experience. Would certainly come back next time I am in town.

Carla M.

Yelp
Great service. Really good food. Pasta is fresh. Highly recommend the appetizer mussels!
