Tesco No Checkout Supermarket Getgo Follows Amazon Go Grocery Stores | Eater London

"A checkout-free supermarket on High Holborn in central London that lets customers walk in, pick up groceries and leave using a dedicated app. Marketed as cashierless and notable for having no self-checkout machines, it nonetheless employs staff for shelf-stocking and to carry out ID checks when alcohol is purchased. Backed by an established supermarket chain, the location offers a broader food selection and built-in customer familiarity, positioning it as a direct rival to other app-driven cashierless grocery concepts in the U.K." - James Hansen

The experience is quick, simple, and smooth. There are easy setup instructions to get you started, but the staff at the entrance are helpful. There are plenty of bags for you to buy if you don’t bring something along. Tracking is impressive and I have repeatedly picked up and put back down items without any issue for billing. The shop is a little smaller than most Tesco Express stores but it has everything I need.

Awful - self checkout is trying to be too clever and scan what you have put down without you actually physically scanning it - kept coming up with wrong items - assistant didn’t understand what it was doing - was slower than a basic self checkout or being served. Then had to scan receipt to leave - next time will go to one of the many other options around. Customer service also not great.

Rude and arrogant staff. You have to be allowed in as the entrance doors are not automatic and there are no signs that say so. So you’re forced to stand outside waiting. Maybe the staff think they work at a jewellery shop? After you entered they ignore you or just looking at their phones. Amazon fresh does it much better.

When selecting a beverage from the Costa machine as part of the meal deal, please verify with the staff whether the drink is eligible for the meal deal prior to making your selection. If the drink is not eligible, you will still be required to pay for it, even if it has already been prepared. Drink tastes extremely watered down aswell

Slightly peeved off. I am a regular customer and I sometimes grab last minute groceries to take home after work. I have never had a problem in the past when using GetGo. Especially when purchasing 10 or more items. Today, after spending some time selecting my groceries and then proceeded to walk out, two very rude men stopped me and said that I had to scan everything at the till. I felt so humiliated and felt like a criminal. Isn't that the whole point of GetGo??!! To avoid scanning when you're in a rush??!! They need to get better staff in there that know how to treat customers ASAP!

Honestly dont understand people complaining about having to download an app and register just to shop, it takes as much effort as installing Candy Crush to be honest. Loved the experience, and was genuinely surprised as to how accurate the system is, it's a tad weird at first just picking up items off the shelf and dropping them in a bag and walking out, feels a little like you are shoplifting, but once you get over that it's just really simple. Staff have always been helpful and friendly so I think those complaining about rude staff are more likely complaining that they wouldnt let them in without the app, which is pretty much their job so why would they risk getting fired over your inability to setup a bloody app on your phone?

Really poor customer experience. Had to scan my receipt to get out of the shop (which was difficult enough whilst having my hands full with 4 different items). Scanning the receipt didn't work at either of the electronic gates so I had to wait for the staff to come to let me out.

Crowded, poor selection of stock. Dumb AI tills and some of the most aggressive and rude staff I have ever encountered. Overall a horrendous experience that I will avoid at all costs in the future.
