"We don’t know what other people are talking about when they say “the circle of life”, but this perfect disc of honey toast from Tetote Factory in Ealing is what we mean. A crisp, caramelised outer layer gives way to soft, honey-soaked bread. The circular shape is a nice touch, and sets this apart in a world of blocks and slabs. We like that it’s not too thick either, so you get a good crunch-to-softness ratio." - sinead cranna
"We don’t know what other people are talking about when they say “the circle of life”, but the honey toast from Tetote Factory is what we mean. This tiny treasure trove in Ealing is a grab-and-go, “sorry, ‘scuse me, I’ll wait outside” kind of space, and its wooden shelves are stacked high with tempting beige bakes. Our go-to order is the sweet, pillowy, comforting tuna and corn bun and a puck of that caramelised, honey-soaked bread." - sinead cranna, heidi lauth beasley
"For: A beautiful one-bun ode to tuna Tetote Factory in Ealing is exposure therapy for anyone who deems making a decision to be “very tricky”. We too have paced back and forth in front of the stacks of tempting beige bakes, crisp, caramelised pucks of honey-soaked toast, and, because this Japanese bakery loves to test us, delicate ceramics for sale. But direct yourself towards the creamy, subtly sweet tuna and corn number that proves fishy buns deserve their time in the baked goods spotlight." - rianne shlebak, sinead cranna, daisy meager, heidi lauth beasley
"Tetote Factory is one of London’s best Japanese bakeries. If you’re not a local, it’s a fair walk from Ealing Broadway and far enough from South Ealing station for you not to stumble across it, but you should absolutely seek it out. It’s a grab-and-go, “sorry, ‘scuse me, I’ll wait outside” kind of space. But you’ll still find yourself spending a lot of time here, pacing back and forth trying to decide between the tempting beige bakes stacked on wooden shelves. Our go-to order is the sweet, pillowy, and comforting tuna and corn bun, with a puck of perfectly caramelised honey butter toast for afters. And if the tasty bakes put you in the mood to part with more money (they probably will), Tetote sells some beautiful, delicate ceramics too. photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch Pause Unmute Food Rundown Honey Butter Toast We don’t know what other people are talking about when they say “the circle of life”, but this is what we mean. It’s perfect. photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch Kara-age Fried Chicken Sandwich This fried chicken sandwich is pleasant enough—the chicken is nice and juicy and it’s a manageable palm-sized amount—but it’s not especially memorable. photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch Tuna & Corn Bun This bun reminds us of why tuna sweetcorn is a superior sandwich filling. The tuna is creamy, but hasn’t turned into a pasty mess, the corn adds some nice crunch and sweetness, which pairs well with the also sweet and fluffy bun. A perfect lunch. photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch" - Sinéad Cranna
"Check the website for up-to-date hours and the current menu, which now runs the full Tetote gamut of outstanding breads both Japanese and French, chaotic savoury buns like the hot dog and barbecue chicken, and featherlight brioches filled with fruit and rich custards." - James Hansen
