The Americano was great. Service was excellent. The seating was good and comfortable. I had the cinnamon pull apart roll and it was great.

Google
First time in Texas - absolutely worth the detour stop! As a coffee lover, I also value places where the staff is friendly & chatty. This place is a 10/10 for that “at home, local feel”!

Kristin Boyles

Google
Ordered the cappuccino, drip + vegan coffee cake 👌🏻Sat on the couches near the chess board & bookshelf. Lovely place

Google
So good! They have so many options for coffee and a special fall menu you can order off. I got the cold brew fall special. The staff is super nice. Love the patio, it’s so green and had such pretty plants and cute eclectic furniture They suggest a mask to enter the actual shop but one of our party didn’t have a mask so we couldn’t go in but I really want to go and see the teas and coffees in there! Also the whole area smells of lovely coffee, and they even have some bakery options you can order

Kyle Campbell

Google
We’ve been ordering beans and tea for a couple years but I’ve never visited the coffee shop (I live an hour away). I’m glad I did. The staff was very friendly and ready to help and answer questions, they seemed to really know their coffee. The beans recommended to me were some great recommendations. I got a drip of their specialty top shelf coffee and it was fantastic. Highly recommend their coffees.

Google
Beautiful ambiance furniture and decor. I got the caramel special frappe and it was delish. Got it again but as iced and it didn't taste like it did. The Mexican chocolate latte wasn't great either. The cold brew growler was a hit. Enjoyed looking through the books.

Google
Everything a great coffee spot should be -- nothing more, nothing less. Fantastic coffee, roasted here, and sold and served with no attitude by a delightful staff. While it's not upscale (because they are so focused on roasting) they serve fresh coffee and pastries and have a chill seating area outside. My favorite so far is the simple and tasty pour over with the dark Peruvian. But they can do just about everything, including cappuccinos, flavored syrups, and a regular 12-ounce drip for $2.50 a cup. So it's all "bean" good, man!

Matthew Paulini

Google
From a block away I could smell the coffee roasting which was a great start. The dark roast drip coffee was really good. They had 4 other drip offerings and at $2 for a 16oz, it's a steal these days. They had a huge selection of coffee beans to go (probably about 30 different kinds and roasts). Overall a really great coffee roaster for whatever gets you going.

Yelp
They are in a new location which kind of threw us off. It's not a bad thing but since we are from nearby Katy TX and only get there a couple of times a year we thought we'd were in the wrong place at first. We should not have worried. The new setup was amazing. The staff was really nice and the coffee was as always really good. 4 pounds of coffee and a couple of drinks and we were on our way.

Yelp
I LOVE Texas Coffee Traders. It is the definition of a hidden gem. I'm a latte girl, and I love that Coffee Traders is always switching up its specials. I swear I find something new to try every time I go. My old faithful is definitely a blackberry vanilla oat milk latte. Ordering it is a mouthful but I promise it's worth it. I also appreciate the fact that they've kept pricing low in comparison to most other Austin coffee shops. Parking: There's a small lot right next to it and a fair amount of street parking. I've never had issues parking.

Yelp
My favorite spot to get whole bean coffee in town. They have an exceptionally wide variety of beans from all over the world, and they are constantly roasting so I can be sure that everything is fresh. The prices are fantastic for the quality, and the staff have always been super friendly and helpful. I could hang there and geek out on their knowledge of coffee sourcing and processing for hours haha. They likewise have a great tea selection and even some baked goods. Indoor space is limited, but you can definitely find a nice shaded spot outside to relax and work. I will continue recommending this as one of Austin's hidden gem coffee spots!

Yelp
I am so sad Tx coffee traders moved locations! I used to go by there on my walks with my dog and they were so friendly and kind. I prefer their coffee over any local coffee shop here. They are consistent, tasty and quick. Although I am sad to not be able to walk to them- I can't wait to try out their new spot!

Yelp
This local coffee shop in Austin offers both whole bean and ground options. Tucked away on the east side of downtown, it's a charming little spot. I stopped by to pick up a new bag of whole beans for home brewing. They have a wide selection to choose from, and the staff was helpful in answering any questions I had. I grabbed a bag of whole beans for home, and definitely had a fresh and flavorful taste when I brewed it. While waiting for my beans to be bagged, I decided to indulge in a coffee. Opting for an espresso drink, I enjoyed its robust flavor and potent caffeine kick. Parking can be a bit of a challenge due to the small lot, especially during busy times. Be prepared to find street parking if needed.

Yelp
I have tried all these blends and have to say all are excellent in their own special way. I have not found one that I enjoy more over the others. I typically order a 5lb bag through the website and have it mailed to my home. Service is always fast, efficient and timely. I'm a big fan and love all the flavors. I'm still exploring to find my favorite. As of now the Texas Blends have been repeat purchases. If you go to the the 4th street store expect great customer service. Staff is always happy to discuss their favorite beans and offer suggestions for you.

Yelp
Love the coffee shop close to my work. They just moved and I wanted to make sure yall knew where to go! Check out the photos attached

Yelp
Love the place, it's a bit hard to spot, but the coffee is great! Just picked up a few bags and their service is super helpful! great atmosphere!

Yelp
I just stopped in for some tea and I got great service. The selection they have is amazing and everyone there is knowledgeable and helpful. I'm sure I'll be coming back.
google avatar

Yelp
Check out this place! You can sample various coffees they have prepared for the day, usually a light, medium, or dark roast. We even got a chance to get a tour of the place by one of the managers who showed us how the coffees were roasted. My favorite is the lone star for cold brew. Coffee prices are very reasonable and they have interesting specialty drinks too. Although they did increase prices recently.

Yelp
I love this place so much!! I've been wanting to come here for YEARS, but timing never worked out and when I could they were closed. I finally was able to and boy am I glad I did. They have their own small lot for parking. We came in for coffee drinks, but left with 4 amazing bags of coffee beans/grounds! The store also smells heavenly. We weren't sure what bags to get, so we got some from the recommendation of the employees and it was such a treat. I can't wait to come back next time I'm in Austin. Coffee lovers unite!

Yelp
Great local coffee shop on 4th Street just a little east of Interstate 35. Friendly staff and wonderful coffee - nothing burnt here. A few tables to sit outside. Do yourself a favor and check them out for a fantastic espresso or latte, and then take a bag of beans home with you - you will be glad that you did, and so will your taste buds. A related company, Coffee Techs, repairs espresso machines - the pump went out on mine + a few other minor issues. I dropped my machine off and because of the backlog should hear back in 4-6 weeks - stay tuned.

Yelp
Why 5 stars? Because the cold brew was great and the beans I bought were........ --- --- --- I knew I wanted to stop here before leaving Austin and I did just that: it was practically the last thing I did before heading home. I did two things on my visit: bought a cold brew for the drive and bought some Brazil Dark beans for my espresso machine at home. The cold brew was very smooth and definitely something I'd order often if I lived in the area. The beans were good, not great. But the selection is enormous here and I'm sure I'd find some that I loved if I made my way through the menu.

Yelp
Amazing time! Staff is knowledgeable and the coffee is delicious and a huge selection of freshly roasted beans

Salmon W.

Yelp
Very nice people and happy to work with you to find what you are looking for. I bought a bulk order of coffee for my dad who loves the stuff! Will be a long time customer!

Yelp
I get a free coffee at another place nearby but still frequent Texas Coffee Traders for three reasons; 1. My very strong dog pulls me there on our walks because he gets the best treats from them (and they know him by name, not sure they even know mine!) and they love him 2. Toffee nut cold brew. I'm sure it's just a syrup, but a flavor I haven't come across anywhere else and I don't need to add any other sugar to it, just 2 Mississippis of half and half. 3. The walk up window is still there and makes it supremely easy to grab a coffee with a dog in tow. Bonus reason: Their prices. Dirt cheap compared to everywhere else. #ThankyouThursday

Yelp
The best coffee shop in Austin! You MUST try their latte, so creamy and smooth. They have a convenient walk up window but I recommend going inside so you can see all of the cool coffee making supplies they carry!
google avatar

Melissa S.

Yelp
Literally the Earl Gray tea is best tea I've ever had. They supply to restaurants and have a store where you can purchase. People are so nice!

Dalia V.

Yelp
I love their apple crumble tea. It tastes like Christmas to me. Great product and price per ounce.

Ces C.

Yelp
This is the best source of coffee beans in Texas and the USA. The staff is excellent, knowledgeable and friendly. Can't wait to go back to Austin.
google avatar

Yelp
I'm given out 5-stars like it's going outta business... and even though our cappuccino was handed to us from out of a window in a wall, like we were buying weed or something, still it was very excellent...
google avatar

Vikash K.

Yelp
Awesome little coffee shop. Found some very nice exotic coffee beans from various parts of the world. They have a huge section of coffee's to chose from and try out before buying them. The guy helping us was great. He was knowledgeable and giving us various tips on looking for coffee and how they differ from region to region. Ended up getting a mocha latte to sip outside before heading out. Couldn't beat the pricing of $2-3 depending on what you're getting. They also got shirts, coffee makers and various tumblers if you wanted to purchase them.
google avatar

Maddie S.

Yelp
This is such a cool spot for coffee lovers. The staff was knowledgeable about the various coffee beans that they sell and answered all of our questions. They had great recommendations and I will definitely be coming back in the future.

Yelp
This coffee makers' coffee joint. Highest reviewed coffee joint in Austin. The place was crawling with folks both simply curious or thinking about starting a joint themselves. The main space is sandwiched between a bean roasting storage area and a loading area. The main space is stuffed with all kinds of coffee related paraphernalia. The line between public and office space was very blurry. The staff did not seem to mind I had stumbled into their office. Ordered my usual - Americano. It was very strong; more bitter than I like but very smooth. Coffee aside, definitely worth a visit if you like to learn more about starting a coffee business. P.S., a staff saw that I was photographing the joint, started asking if I need consulting services to build my coffee shop; she went to describe many of other areas of their expertise. Super friendly.

Parker M.

Yelp
Most underrated cuppa in east Austin. I love walking my dog behind their building on the hike and bike trail because it just smells soooo good! Support this Austin staple!

Yelp
I didn't know that this was a must-visit spot until I randomly came across it! My boyfriend is a big coffee drinker and wanted to grab some coffee on our walk home from lunch. He found this on yelp and we headed over. It's in a very quiet area a few blocks over from the main street. The inside is no-frills. They sell coffee beans and coffee equipment and there's an area where the baristas are. My boyfriend ordered the vanilla iced coffee and it came out really quick. He loved the coffee! We would've purchased coffee beans if we had space in our carry-ons. They gave me a free latte since they were practicing latte art with a few cups. I thought this was really sweet of them! I added a little bit of vanilla syrup and it was amazing! I'm not a coffee drinker, but I know when I'm drinking a good cup. The cherry on top was the employees. They were all so sweet and funny. They all seemed like they enjoyed each other's presence and made us feel really comfortable! Overall, I loved coming here and would definitely recommend it to anyone who is looking for a quaint place to grab a quick cup of coffee. FYI, they are not open on Sundays. S/o to the eco friendly plastic :)

Yelp
Totally cute space. All outdoors with lots of seating and picnic tables. I was waiting on a fitting next door so decided to go by and get a soy mocha. It was goood! The lady at the order window was super sweet. Made it a point to ask if I wanted soy or not. She saved the day! Lol I would totally recommend this place. Good atmosphere and vibe. All they were missing was a public bathroom!

Yelp
Straight up serious coffee drinkers here! My cousin came here a few months back and snapped a video for us because he knew we'd love this place if we ever get a chance to visit. And so we did and visited, not once but twice. We took our time looking at the large collection of beans they had on the shelf. The husband commented that the labeling looks exactly like the Montana Coffee Traders. We were told by one the of the friendly staff that the owners from Montana are the same owners of Texas Coffee Traders. Brilliant! We were able to taste test some of the coffee they have in the airpot dispensers. $2 for any cup size, self-serve. And there's a cold brew you can also self-serve. Specialty drinks, order at the counter. I loved the cold brew. It tasted like how the husband would make his home batches. There's outside seating. No public restrooms. Friendly service.

Yelp
I am very picky about my French Roast. It should be strong and full-bodied. And after a lot of searching I found the perfect coffee in the Fredo Blend of the TX Coffee Traders, which I have been drinking exclusively now for years. My local Fresh Plus carried it, but sometimes ran out, so now I get it directly from the store. Their shipping is fairly reliable, but the window service is very quick, so that's what I've been using under Covid. Friendly people, great merchandise. Check it out.
google avatar

Tyler F.

Yelp
I promise I'm not being paid to write this review. Best coffee in Austin, no questions asked. Their coffee has that full-body flavor that I love, and to add to that, it's priced well. The staff is always so friendly and welcoming. My only feedback is that I wish they were open earlier!
google avatar

Kylie S.

Yelp
We were on our way out of Austin and needed a refueling of caffeine. It's tucked into the neighborhood and offers parking. Upon entering, we were greeted by a couple employees. Everything can be tested to make sure you find the perfect coffee. There were five different carafes full of coffees that all tasted great - it was all good, quality coffee. Their flavor profiles were on point. They had a few where they brewed the same beans different ways to show how it changed the flavor, it was cool to taste. They specialize in coffee but also have tea. The selection of loose leaf tea was just okay. A lot of blends focusing on fruity mashups. They all smell great but I don't know how good they would be brewed. I got the midnight plum black tea. It has a subtle flavor brought out by a dab of honey. Parking: small lot What we got: Indonesian/Ethiopian blend French press coffee ***** // Midnight Plum black ice tea: *** Price: $ Wait: immediate

Yelp
What a fun place to visit in Austin! Especially if you are a coffee junkie like me. There are some for you to sample, coffee brewing gear, the repair coffee machines, and the staff is just happy and helpful. Would suggest to come here early if possible. The space isn't big and it can get a bit claustrophobic when it gets busy.
google avatar

Ashley L.

Yelp
The aromas and the people that work here are simply AMAZING!! As soon as you walk in door you will be greeted with people who not only are well knowledgeable about coffee, but it's clear they love what they do and believe in it. We tasted several coffees, bought tea and lattes and I even came away with an amazing Coffee Traders sweat shirt that I can't wait to wear! We will definitely be back!!

Alan M.

Yelp
Hands down the best coffee shop I've been to in Austin and one of my favorites in the country. Excellent roastery that's low-frills and unpretentious, friendly folks that are extremely helpful and knowledgeable, and the coffee itself is outstanding - every variety of bean I've gotten here has been a knockout. Recommend going in with a few flavor profiles you like and your desired brew method, let the staff know, and then let them help you choose a bean from there and get a quick espresso on the way out too. Keep up the good work!

Virginia G.

Yelp
I went here for the first time about a month or two ago. I had coffee at my aunt's house over Thanksgiving... It was so good I even drank it black which I normally never do. It was the Peruvian organic roast and I had to go buy some. This is like the mecca of coffee beans and coffee people probably. I was in over my head, seeing as I normally drink Folgers. I was almost annoyingly excited and needed a lot of guidance. The woman who helped me was so knowledgeable and asked me what I liked about my coffee in order to give me better suggestions. I wish I remembered her name, she said she had a background in wine stuff that's all I remember.

Yelp
I first discovered Texas Coffee Traders at the Hope Farmers Market and my husband would always get a coffee and beans. I would taste and get whatever non-coffee drink they had and it was delicious. Then about a year ago we found out at the Farmers Market that they have a brick and mortar location just around the corner. Wow! We eventually made our way and boy oh boy talk about choices! They have so many nice specialty beans - literally a whole wall full. My husband was in his coffee heaven. One of his go to favorites is the Starling. If you have or you are looking for an espresso machine or any kind of coffee making device they pretty much have you covered here too. They even do repairs on machines I was told. The staff here is super knowledgeable about all things coffee as you might expect. They have a cute little patio and serve up some baked goods that you can enjoy with your drink. Texas Coffee Trader truly is one of kind and you can catch them every Sunday at Hope Farmers Market or you can go to their brick and mortar location with their extended hours if that is more convenient.

Elisa C.

Yelp
I got an iced latte and it was great! It was made with great care and tasted just as good. I will be coming back again!

Yelp
We're staying in Austin for a month just to have a break from staring at the same 4 walls back home in Chicago. We brought along our trusty French press, grinder, and a bag of Love Supreme whole beans from Dark Matter, our go-to shop in Chicago. Imagine my horror when I woke one morning to find us out of those beans and having to resort to the pre-ground stuff the Airbnb folks left for us as a welcome gift. Yelp to the rescue by helping me quickly find this shop! Texas Coffee Traders' breakfast blend is just perfect and we found it as good as the one from Dark Matter. It has some acidity, but it's very smooth. There's no bitterness whatsoever. The aroma that greets you as you open the bag can only be described as heavenly. I bought whole beans online at 7:30 am and my order was ready by 8am. The pick up process was easy-peasy. We are so happy with their beans that we are going to work them into regular rotation with our Dark Matter beans when we go back to Chicago. It was that good that I'm willing to pay the shipping to get them. The only minor quibble I have is that their website was a bit of a PIA. I was considering some single origin beans too, and the website didn't have flavor profile or roast info in the bulk buy area. I finally found it under a section for ordering individual cups of coffee. I gave up on that purchase because I kept having to flip between two different pages on my phone. Additionally, they don't use Apple Pay. To reiterate, these are minor grumblings for phone purchasing that have nothing to do with the quality of their beans.

Yelp
My Best cup of Americano was found here at Texas Coffee Trader for their Costa Rica beans were roasted and brewed just right have a nutty aroma that counterbalance the piquant acidity that ends with sweetness. Unfortunately I bought two cups and each was brewed by a different barista-one was just perfect as described and the other one was way too strong or somehow the water temperature was too hot. Personal taste preference aside, a good cup of coffee is so different from one person to another; hence I shall stick to my favorite barista next time and so should you. Coffee with cream here taste different from anywhere else due to the use of non/homogenized half&half. This is a serious coffee roaster offering coffee beans from around the world. The wall of coffee beans could overwhelm even the more educated coffee nerds, but the staff were extremely knowledgeable and patience in GIVING recommendations. Other than beans they offer anything and everything to do with brewing and drinking coffee. This is like a candy store for aspiring coffee baristas. What I appreciated a lot is the use of double-walled paper cups that keeps the coffee hot while not hurting the hand - no need to use sleeves! These cups are matched with 25% post consumer plastic lids . Details like this make a difference to my coffee experience. Next time I won't bother with other coffee house when in Austin. Just head straight to Texas Coffee Traders. But I will tell them exactly how I like my Americano and leave nothing to chance.

Lauren M.

Yelp
Incredible coffee! And really great prices too. Wanted to go back the next day but they're closed on Sundays - that's the only downside :)
google avatar

Yelp
Texas Coffee Traders has been fantastic during the pandemic. They make it so easy to order online and swing by and pick up at the window. I don't know what we would've done without Café Montverde to get us through this last year and a half. Thanks so much TCT!
google avatar

Aaron O.

Yelp
Texas Coffee Traders is a place you go to planning on getting some good coffee and then they sweet-talk you with their southern hospitality into staying and browsing around while trying their free sample coffees. Next thing you know, you've left after having bought that drink you were planning on, in addition to a stoneware mug, some coffee beans, and an assortment of teas. That pretty much sums up the entire experience. If you love coffee, come here and you won't be disappointed. Their sample coffees change regularly and they always have one coffee that they make in various different ways so you can compare the different brewing methods as well. Their vast selection of teas caught me off guard as well and I spent half my time there smelling the different options before making my mind up one which ones I wanted to buy. Somehow, they almost treat you a little too well to the point of where you feel a little guilty for trying and sampling all their coffees that you feel like you can't leave without buying anything.
google avatar

Lucy L.

Yelp
They are a roaster company. Very friendly people . Macchiato and Cappuccino are only $3 each . Not much of a coffee shops but there are some outdoor chairs and tables you can sit outside
google avatar

DeWitt O.

Yelp
Brought our Gaggia coffee maker here to be serviced. We are in the market for a new machine- visited with Shawn about which coffee makers are reliable. Impressed with the variety of coffees and teas, and always THRILLED to see gluten-free pastry options. Our family suffers from food allergies, so we grabbed several gf pastries to try. We tried the Peru blend of the day in Americanos- one iced, one hot- enjoyed thoroughly! Looking forward to coming back our next visit to Austin- and to pick up our Gaggia!

Yelp
Literally the best cold brew I may have ever had. It was so smooth, not acidic at all, and just had the best flavor. Will def make a 2nd visit just for that cold brew again the next time I'm in Austin! My friend tried their Honey Bunny and it was also delicious. They have a lot of fun and interesting syrups and lattes to try. Baristas seemed passionate and very knowledgeable about the beans they have. It was rainy when we went but they have an outdoor seating area that I'm sure would be fantastic on a nice day. They still require masks and social distancing when you're not seated, which I appreciate!
google avatar

Babatunde A.

Yelp
Chill little spot good coffee and definitely know what they are doing with all their fancy coffee equipment
google avatar

Tiffany S.

Yelp
Texas Coffee Traders is fantastic! It's like wine-tasting for Coffee. Is there such thing as Coffee sommelier?! Because all the employees would pass the Master Coffee Sommelier exam in my book! TCT has daily samples of their coffee & tea. I didn't try the tea but for their coffee, they brew/prepare the same bean 3 different ways - coffee sock, drip & brew. And the employees help explain what you're tasting. From there, they take you over to the coffee bean wall and explain taste by region. It was sensory overload for my nose! I left with 2 bags 2lb bags (~$15 per pound). In addition to beans, they also sell all kinds of coffee gadgets - chemexes, socks, cups, etc!

Yelp
The sweetest people ever! My husband and I came here on a Saturday morning after I read the reviews on Yelp saying they had freshly roasted coffee beans. The lady that helped us was so kind and knew so much about the coffee beans they had. I have an espresso machine so I was in search of some fresh beans. She was able to pick me out 2 options based on what I told her I liked and didn't like. They do require a mask to go inside so don't forget to take one, luckily she had a spare for my husband. This place sells loose leaf tea, coffee beans, as well as drinks such as a latte, cappuccino, etc. They have a parking lot as well as an outdoor seating area with shade umbrellas. Overall, I love this place and I had such a great experience that I definitely will be back when I need more beans.

Yelp
Came here last weekend to pick up some decaf beans and scope out their operation. They have wonderful people who work here who are informed and extremely helpful. They want to help you find what you're looking for and it's almost as though they are as invested in it as you are. They have all their coffee in these pourable plastic pitchers that you hand to them to get you the quantity that you need. From what I could tell, they were all sold as beans and you can request to have them grind them for you. My one beef is that when I asked them if they have roast dates, they said...well, they roast every day so anything you get is as fresh as possible. When you're making espresso, you really want to know the beans you have are fresh and roasted within the week. This is a fine place to get coffee but I'll still keep scoping out the Austin scene to find other roasters who will readily list roasting dates.
