I used to go to TGIFridays pretty often so when I saw this one while on vacation, I was pretty excited. How wrong I was. The building was dirty and unkempt from the outside and it only got worse.
CONS
#1 It was FREEZING cold.
I noticed that many people kept their jackets on but I chalked it up to personal preference. WRONG! It was in the low 40s outside but it felt like the low 30s inside.
#2 I was told there was no hot cocoa.
Since it was cold, my kids were looking forward to having a warm drink. The waiter told us that the store had hot cocoa on order but it hadn't arrived yet. After ordering, we looked at the signage on the table and a winter menu item was hot cocoa and a cookie. I asked again, since it was a special on the menu and was told again they didn't have any. That tells me that a) the manager is inept as menu items should always be on hand or 2) she was lying.
#3 She didn't understand the order, and she didn't clarify.
We wanted three 12 oz New York strip steaks with garlic mashed potatoes and broccoli. She told us that they didn't have the garlic mashed potatoes. Fine Instead, I asked for two side salads and an order of French fries.
She brought out the salads and French fries. Cool. We kept waiting for the rest of the food. Nothing came. I tried to get her attention but she kept walking by us. I finally got her attention and she said that she thought we ordered the side salads and fries INSTEAD of the steaks. I understand that she didn't understand but that change would have been weird to me and a follow up question would have sorted it.
Example:
"So instead of the steaks, you'd like side salads and fries?"
#4 She never refilled our drinks.
She walked by us multiple times and never offered to refill our drinks. My guess is that she thought it was going to be a cheap ticket (which would mean a low tip) so she decided our table wasn't worth her time. I have no idea, she just didn't pay us much attention.
#5 We felt ignored.
As I watched her serving other people I felt completely ignored. I tried to get her attention a few times. By the time I finally got her over to our table, I was irritated.
#6 Took the food home and the order was STILL wrong.
After I explained that I ordered the sides as part of the steak order, I told her to just bag everything up and we'd take it home. I drove back, opened up the boxes and instead of finding steaks and broccoli (we had already eaten our garlic mashed potato "exchange" sides, I found a steak, fries, and a side salad in each order. No broccoli. Again, she could have clarified, "So now that you had the sides you ordered instead of the garlic mashed potatoes, did you want just the steak and broccoli or did you want to order a different side?"
PROS
#1 The hostess at the front was nice and welcoming. I kinda spazzed out on her while leaving and she was very professional.
#2 The steak was AMAZING! I wasn't sure what to expect but it was cooked well and the flavor was robust. Good job!
Overall, the whole experience sucked and I probably won't be back but that steak might make me change my mind. Next time I'll call my order in and just pick it up.
