Thai Chilli is a cozy local restaurant in Elk Grove with an extensive menu. I recently tried their Thai Noodle Soup and Lao Style Papaya Salad, but unfortunately, they weren’t to my taste. Both dishes leaned heavily on the sweeter side, and even their sriracha and chili oil lacked the spiciness I was hoping for—adding more only made the soup sweeter. I ended up requesting chopped Thai chili to get the heat I wanted. However, their service was exceptional, which is always a plus. While it didn’t suit my palate, it might be just right for you!

I ordered pad Thai and the shrimp was missing. The flavor was faint. I expected more taste it was mainly noodles.

Nice place, fast service. Food was pretty good and lots of choices. The restaurant itself is not what I would call fancy but was fine for me. Servers and staff were prompt and kind. Will be coming back to get out more things on the menu.

Google
Thai Chili was a delightful experience! We started with the tofu spring rolls, which were fresh and light. The rice paper was perfectly chewy, and the tofu paired wonderfully with the crisp veggies. The accompanying peanut sauce was a great addition, adding just the right amount of flavor. For the main course, we had the drunken noodles, and they were fantastic! The noodles were perfectly cooked and had that great chewy texture. The dish was loaded with a variety of vegetables, giving it a nice crunch and freshness. The sauce was flavorful with just the right amount of heat, making every bite delicious. Service was quick and friendly, making our dining experience even better. If you're craving some tasty Thai food, Thai Chili is definitely worth a visit!

Got the Drunken Noodle plate which came with a small kick to it. Wasn't bad at all. Just the right amount for me personally. Also got Chicken Satay that came with I believe peanut sauce..? Anywho, overall I was quite satisfied. The service was good for the most part. No problem there, although I felt like the place was overall just a bit too dim. 😅

Google
Every rime I have gone here I have gotten the best service. The waitress is so friendly and treats you like a friend/family. The whole staff is great. The food is out of this world delicious! I love the curry dishes. Exceptional flavor! This is probably my favorite restaurant!

Emma Trucco

Google
An absolute gem of a restaurant! The service here was outstanding—our server was attentive, patient, and took the time to explain the dishes on the menu. The food was mouthwatering; the Massaman curry was creamy and comforting, and the stir-fried noodles were packed with flavor. The ambiance was perfect, with a mix of modern and traditional Thai elements that created a peaceful and inviting atmosphere. Every detail was on point, making this a top-notch choice for Thai food enthusiasts!

Google
The food was great! They have a huge menu, and you can choose your meat and the level of spiciness. The food is high quality and delicious. We got six different items for six people and really enjoyed sharing everything. The system of ordering is really convenient and worked well. They have a QR code on the table that lets you not only see the menu, but also order right from your table. We grabbed a table outside and ordered this way, and got quick, friendly service. I'll definitely be back!

Yelp
I decided to try Thai Chili at 8696 Elk Grove Blvd, Ste 5, Elk Grove, CA 95624. This is a restaurant that has been here for many years and has been reviewed over 1,986 times. I was very impressed how clean the restaurant was, although it looked like it was a bit on the older side. Everything was very clean and the spacing of the tables and booths were excellent. However, the restaurant can only support 33 people. It was certainly smaller than I expected. Families are welcomed and the menu is very good. The service was excellent and our server, Francisco, helped me pick out different dishes. I had Thai Ice Tea (very strong and great tasting), Pad Thai (flat noodles and pork), Shrimp spring rolls, red pineapple curry (a little spicy), and of course my favorite desert of all time-fried banana with coconut ice cream. I greatly underestimated the portion size as when it was all done I had enough for another meal to take home. Overall, if you like Thai food, your absolutely going to love this place. Plenty of parking, first class service, outstanding quality food. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND Thai Chili if your visiting Elk Grove, CA.

Yelp
What we ordered *Ginger Crispy Chicken -large portion -came with 3 dipping sauce -tasty & delicious *Spicy Eggplant (choice of protein -Fish) -large portion -must have - everything about this dish was delicious *Coconut Seafood Soup -a little disappointed that it wasn't served in a metal container with a warmer like most Thai restaurant to keep the soup hot. -surprisly a pleasing soup with generous amount of seafood The restaurant was full when hubby and I arrived on a Friday night. We waited outside for a few minutes. We were greeted with a nice hello from a server named Arturo who also ended up being our server. He was attentive, very pleasant and just had a really welcoming personality. A star for each meal we ordered and a star for ARTURO. Thank you Thai Chili. We will be back.

Yelp
Thai Chili has exceptionally flavored dishes. We like the Pad Thai, beef larb, grilled steak with vegetables and sticky rice to name a few. Thai tea is very tasty!

Yelp
Thai chili is hands-down my longtime favorite Thai restaurant. I am absolutely obsessed with their crispy fried chicken and all the curry dishes that they serve on the menu. They give generous portion size and everything is just delicious. I have been coming here for many years and the quality of food remains consistent and good. The service staff is always welcoming and friendly and attentive to our dining needs. It is a popular place so it can get busy but the wait time is never too long. You definitely want to come and check out the Thai food at Thai chili as you won't be disappointed.

Yelp
This is a hidden gem. Everything here is a flavor bomb. Tyler was an awesome server and had such a fun personality. This is a must try you will not be disappointed.

Yelp
Decided to give this place a try since I was in the mood for Thai food! Got sat at a table right away. Not the cleanest of places I've been but definitely a great hole in the wall! Calamari-nothing too special, very plain without the sweet chili sauce Fresh shrimp spring rolls- refreshing crisp, and minty, sauce is sweet and tangy. Pad Thai- Really delicious and flavorful, one of the best ones I've had. Huge portion Green curry- Amazing taste of flavor and great with rice and the pad Thai. Definitely can't wait to come back again!

Yelp
I haven't been here in over a year. Came in on a Weds night for dinner to celebrate a friend's birthday. Staff were friendly. It wasn't too busy but there was another big grp that arrived after we were seated. Food was good. Disappointed in the drunken noodle with real crab meat. I Didn't taste any crab. Ordered: Thai Papaya Salad 3 was the perfect level for us Drunken Noodles w/ Real Crab Meat Pineapple Fried Rice w/ Seafood Combo Spicy Eggplant w/ Fish Grilled Combo meat Veg Green Curry w/ Egg Plant additional $2 They charge for Thai Peanut Sauce ($2.50) Mango sticky rice Singha Everything was good but my favorite was the pineapple fried rice & mango sticky rice. The veggie curry with eggplant was really good too.

Yelp
Picked up the food for a large family get together. Everything was ready when they said, very warm greeting. Most importantly, everyone really liked all the different dishes.

Yelp
I haven't been visited Thai Chili for a while but their food are still very delicious with affordable price, service is quick and staff is very friendly, highly recommended!

Yelp
Food was good. I got an order of summer salad rolls and they were huge! It comes 3 to an order and it fills the take out plate! I didn't pick up the food so can't comment on the restaurant.

Yelp
Food portion and quality is out of this world!! I typically prefer trying new restaurants over keep visiting the same spot, so it means a lot when I say I always visit when I am in the area. The staffs are super friendly and tables are always clean. Highly highly recommend if you like Thai food!
google avatar

Yelp
Thai Chili has large portions for a decent price! I really enjoyed my Pad Kee mao with chicken, which I took some to-go because I got so full before I finished! Thai tea was great and for $4.50, I cannot complain. The bamboo shoots in the meal was a nice twist to the pad kee mao. It was a wonderful addition. Super content with my dinner and will come back to definitely try the satay skewers!

Yelp
Nice casual ambiance, the waiter was friendly. This is my first time trying po take, it's very similar to Tom yum, very delicious flavorful and robust flavors. Definitely a great soup especially if you're under the weather. I finished my night with the fried bananas and coconut ice cream, all I can say is "get it!!!!!!"
google avatar

Yelp
Delicious local Thai food. Many different dishes to choose from that will delight the palate. The Shrimp Pad Thai and Thai fried with chicken, and Pineapple red curry are some of my favorites. The Thai Tea is also quite tasty and satisfying as a dessert. The service is good, they do get very busy so do aware sometime they phone will ring and ring. The inside of the restaurant is nice and has soft lighting.

Yelp
Dropped in on a Wednesday night. The food quality was amazing. Ordered the home style garlic wings which were fried to perfection. My fav part was that they were all flats! The see ew noodles with shrimp and green curry was also SUUUPER tasty. They have a spice rating of 1-5 and I ordered a level 2 which had a decent kick but I feel like I could've maybe ventured out into the level three range. Thai chili also had really good portion sizing. The staff were super nice and attentive and the place was quiet, clean, and able to be seated as soon as I walked through the door. Will come back 5/5

Yelp
Shared parking lot in a plaza. Nicely decorated Thai restaurant. Friendly staff greeted us when we arrived and were quickly seated. Several servers were tentative and continued to have our drinks filled. Food was pretty good and full of flavors. Portions are family style so be prepared to share. We tried several dishes. Coconut soup, pad Thai, chicken yellow curry, hot basil ground chicken, Thai ginger beef. And all was good. Definitely will return and highly recommend.

Yelp
My go to restaurant for Thai food. I have been coming to this restaurant for many years. Whether it's takeout or dine in, the food is always solid. Pad Thai 8/10, calamari 7/10, pumpkin curry 9/10, duck fried rice 9/10, pad see ew 10/10. I got takeout this time and the calamari was soft but i don't fault it.

Yelp
Today was a way better experience than last time. The food was cooked to perfection. Nice ambiance like always and the servers were attentive. Glad we ate here today. The cook tonight had the food sizzling.

Yelp
We just discovered Thai Chilies in Elk Grove, California. It's my husband's birthday and I wanted to treat him to something special. And we found a good one! It's very easy to find and a welcoming vibe. We ordered a lot of food because we always like to take leftovers home and we were not disappointed. The menu selection is enormous and varied. The service is friendly excellent. We didn't have to wait very long, which is good because we were hungry. This is our new favorite Thai place and we'll be going back even though we're 30 miles away. I just wish DoorDash could drive that far! !

Kavita G.

Yelp
I would give this place zero stars if I could. We ordered fried rice and yellow curry for takeout, but both dishes were hard and seemed stale. As we ate, it became clear that the food wasn't fresh. Unfortunately, our instincts were correct, as the takeout spoiled by 4 PM that same day. Thai Chilli, please don't charge for fresh ingredients if you can't deliver quality!

K T.

Yelp
Decided to try this place out because of the high ratings. The people were nice. Had no issues with the service. I think the food was only ok. To me, it didn't have that authentic thai flavor. When I eat Thai food, I expect it to have a nice balance of sweet, spicy, sour, salty, and umami (and even bitter for some dishes). I think the food is catered more to the "American" taste. The portions were pretty big though. Would I come back again? Probably not but it was worth a try.
google avatar

Yelp
They close at 8:30pm not 9:00pm. We got there at 8:40pm and was told they aren't seating anyone and then proceeded to tell me they need ask if they can do take out. If you aren't sitting people and aren't taking takeout orders your established is closed?
google avatar

Svetha D.

Yelp
Food was delicious as usual although the green curry was a little more on the blander side than usual and tasted closer to the yellow curry. Drunken noodles with crab was bomb. Money bags were delish. Curry puffs were tasty. Enjoyed the fried rice as well. Service was great. Ambiance was casual and clean. Can't wait to be back. Yum!
google avatar

Yelp
First time here, the service was great. They were very attentive. The restaurant is not big but clean and busy. We enjoyed the food and if back in the area we will come again. The sticky mango rice was fantastic so be sure you get that!!

Yelp
Are you looking for a great restaurant in Elk Grove, CA to enjoy amazing Thai cuisine, served by friendly staff, at a reasonable price? You'll find the cuisine of Thailand, served daily at Thai Chili, located on Elk Grove Blvd., in Elk Grove, CA. The dining room is quite compact, and is tastefully decorated as you'd expect in a Thai restaurant. Just like practically every Thai restaurant, there is a portrait of King Maha Vajiralongkorn, who has been the head of state in Thailand since 2016. The dining room is clean, comfortable and well organized. The menu is absolutely GIGANTIC - six pages in total - and offers all of your Thai favorites, with something for every taste listed on the menu. The bargecue section of the menu especially grabbed my attention, as I adore the combination of barbecue and Thai peanut sauce. "Praram Chicken with Peanut Sauce and Thai Fried Rice" was a natural choice for me. From the "Barbecue" section of the menu, I went with "Praram Chicken with Peanut Sauce and Thai Fried Rice." The menu describes this delicious entree as "Grilled, marinated chicken, served on a bed of vegetables with peanut sauce and Thai fried rice." I describe this amazing dish with simply one word: Delicious! The main entree of the menu was the "Praram Chicken," which was marinated to give it a robust, subtle, yet sweet flavor which was simply unbelievably delicious! Note to self: I need to do some homework on Thai marinade. The chicken was thinly sliced and grilled to perfection, complete with attractive grill marks. When it comes to Thai chicken, beauty is only skin deep, as this chicken was juicy, super tender and flavorful. Surprise! ... the chicken was already sliced, and since it was so tender, using a fork was a simple matter to cut it into bite size pieces, for dipping into the peanut sauce. Such great Thai chicken! The chicken was placed on a bed of steamed vegetables, which included sliced carrot, lettuce, broccoli, along with a slice or two of onion. The veggies were fresh and tender, and especially delicious, since juice from the chicken dripped down to add extra flavor. The "Thai Rice" was plated next to the chicken in a round ball, as per the way it's served in Thailand. The rice was white rice, which I'm going to "assume" was cooked in chicken broth, rather than plain water, as it had a delicious, robust flavor, and was slightly golden brown in color. A few peas, chopped carrot and onion graced the rice, to add color and flavor. Oh my! ... the rice was simply delicious, and it was so good that you could make a entire meal of it! To complete this delicious lunch, a cup of creamy, rich Thai "Peanut Sauce" was included for dip, which amounted to the "frosting on the cake" when it came to dipping. Wow! I cut off small pieces of chicken, dipped it into the sauce, closed my eyes, took a bite and was instantly transported to Bangkok, during my Navy days. Thai Chili has achieved a reputation as one of the finest Thai restaurants in the greater Sacramento area, as their reputation is certainly deserved, thanks to their delicious Thai cuisine, fast, friendly service, and great dining atmosphere. Come enjoy the delicious Thai cuisine that Sacramento area "foodies" rave about... Thai Chili, located in Elk Grove, CA.

Yelp
It was okay. The crab meat drunken noodles was a unique flavor I wouldn't mind trying again. Pad thai was good. Points for being open late when other thai places in EG close earlier.

Yelp
Best Thai food in the Elk Grove area. Love how they have their herbs right outside the restaurant. Food is definitely authentic and delicious. Service is great, even when it's super busy. Love how they don't rush you to leave. They also have all the extra condiments that you may need at the table.
google avatar

Hemali M.

Yelp
The fried rice and hot basil was so disappointing. No flavor just sub par. Also the chicken sate was rubbery. I don't know how this place gets any good reviews when it's not consistent. It's like they don't care. Is there a reason for this??
google avatar

Julia B.

Yelp
Food is always yummy. So much to choose from on the menu. We always go with the classic but they never ever disappoint. Service is always great. Music can be loud at times.

Yelp
It's been years since I've had Thai Chili. Decided to make the drive and order take out since I was craving some Thai food. Note, this review is nothing related to the service or ambiance but more so the quality of the food. Food was ready in the timeframe noted for pick up which is always a plus for weekend dinner hours. I ordered the Laos style papaya salad. Menu on the website notes there's tomatoes and yeah definitely did not have that. Doesn't look like they even tum it. It just looks like they poured fish sauce over shredded papaya. I also ordered the beef larb which was just ok. The only dish that I thought was decent was the Pad Thai. Although I noted spicy level 2/5 on all my items, I didn't find it was spicy whatsoever. Curious if the quality would be different if I dined in. Nonetheless I am unlikely to order from here again.
google avatar

Sarah T.

Yelp
Thai Chili is definitely one of the best thai places I've had in Elk Grove. I got the Drunken Noodles with beef. First of all the portion is HUGE. It comes with a ton of beef which I love. I did not specify how spicy I wanted the dish, but the balance of flavors was just perfect. It had freshness from what I believe is basil, sweetness, a hint of sour from the bamboo and mixed with the perfect amount of spiciness. The noodles were a nice chewy texture. Overall, a solid spot for Thai food in the area. Also plenty of parking in the plaza!
google avatar

Annie L.

Yelp
My husband and I was craving for some Thai food and this place was the closest to us while we were in the area. The restaurant is very clean and beautifully decorated. The server is super friendly and welcoming. We were seated quickly. The water has a slice of lime in it (FANCY) and the thai tea is so good. The food is good too but I can make the Thai beef at home. The curry is too sweet but we'll definitely come back and try more of their menu. We were satisfied
google avatar

Lorin H.

Yelp
I cannot say enough great things about Thai Chili! It's the only Thai food I will spend my money on! And the prices are very reasonable! Iv tried many other Thai restaurants in my area, Lodi, south sac, etc, this is by FAR thee best!! You cannot go wrong with anything you order here!! My go to is the Panang curry w tofu and brown rice, the pineapple fried rice, and you have to try their desserts! Fried banana and coconut ice cream, MANGO STICKY RICE W COCONUT MILK IS ADDICTIVE!!!
google avatar

Tiffany B.

Yelp
Thai Chili is the OG thai food spot in Elk Grove. But I think they still remain the best. The pad Thai is unmatched. I really like the amount of food they give. And their food has a lot of flavor. The service and kitchen keeps up with how busy they are. They are constantly getting to-go orders, and they are always crowded inside and outside.
google avatar

Shafiul K.

Yelp
Try out this place after a while and it was mediocre. I got the pineapple fried rice and a pad Thai. The padthai I barely had any protein in it and the fried rice was all right. I'll give it a 7 out of 10

Ari C.

Yelp
The main complaint, detailed below, is that the flavor of the dishes is overwhelmed by the volume of fish sauce used. Great Thai cooking is a dance of flavors: Fiery bird chiles, ginger, galangal, lemongrass, coconut, and a few others. This place's flavors have salt stomping over all of those ingredients. Green papaya salad: fish sauce overwhelmed the lime juice and sugar. I didn't even notice any chile in there. Shrimp rolls: the rolls themselves were excellent, but the dipping sauce had no acidity to balance the sweetness. Spicy eggplant (w/ fish): Just 3 pieces of eggplant, and lots of salty garlic sauce. Not much heat for a dish that calls it out in its name. Duck curry: good mouthfeel from the coconut milk, but again, the saltiness overpowered the other curry flavors. Garlic beef: very chewy/sinewy (lower-quality) beef, and the sugar overwhelmed the garlic. I won't be going back.

Yelp
It's been years since I've been here. It's still relatively the same, just more expensive. It was a busy Saturday night for them. The crew was good, nothing to write home about. The food came out pretty fast after ordering. Honestly, almost $20 for chicken fried rice is pretty crazy these days, but whatever, I'm supporting local businesses. The thai steak was a decent portion. That was my go to years ago. Still reminds me of when I was growing up in the area, so it had a great nostalgia feel.

J C.

Yelp
The food was great. And the service was great. Close to work. Ordered the Crispy Wonton Chicken Pad Thai

Robert K.

Yelp
I have been coming here since 2009. Always great. We had a lunch last Saturday with eight people (four couples). Everything was fantastic. The food, service, ambiance (a private table in a back room I knew nothing about). Everyone said they enjoyed the experience. I will continue to come back. Sorry it took me sixteen years to give my review! Thank you, and keep up the good work.
google avatar

Monica V.

Yelp
The food is always good when I go here. I go here a couple times a month. My favorite is the pineapple fried rice with tofu and vegetable stir fry. The rice has a wonderful curry spice on it with cashews raisins and vegetables. The vegetables are fresh and crunchy. The servers are pleasant and responsive. They bring the food out quickly. The restaurant is casual. They also do a big takeout business.
google avatar

Dave S.

Yelp
I don't know what happened, regarding management, ownership, or chefs, but this place is much better than it was last time I had food from this place. I had the Tom Kha and the crab fried rice. Its definitely money's worth. I may come back on a regular basis in the new year. Thank you.

Yelp
I have no idea if this is just the place in Elk Grove to get Thai or what but this place was busy when we walked in. The lighting is dim and the restaurant seems homey. We ordered several items as it was our first time there and we were unsure what to order. I was mostly looking forward to their thai orange chicken. I know what you're thinking. That sounds more like Chinese food. Well, let me say that the picture is not what you get. I was disappointed. You get a few slices of battered chicken with some sreamed vegetables and a sauce in a cup. It wasn't great. The food we did order wasn't great. I'm unsure why this place is so popular. Bangkok at 12th is where ill go from now on. We spent $130 and tossed most of it. I wanted to like it but we just didn't.

Yelp
Thai Chili is an amazing spot for a nice date night. The service and ambience of this place is great. I've come back here many times. The food here is absolutely amazing. We had the Fried Calamari for an appetizer, and it was too good that we forgot to take the before photo. We also had the Shrimp Pad Thai, which had the perfect balance between soft and chewy. The red curry was also amazing (you cant really go wrong with any of their curries). The Holy Basil Rice was also really amazing. Definitely recommend checking this place out, especially if you love Thai Food.

Yelp
I was craving some savory and spicy drunken noodles last week, but it was 3:15pm and there were no Thai restaurants open yet. This restaurant was the one that would open soonest. I was hesitant because I've ordered takeout once before, and didn't receive what I asked for, but thought maybe this time would be different. At 4pm when they opened I called in to place the order. It took three calls before they answered, which is understandable they'd literally just opened. I placed a take out order for drunken noodles with chicken and pad Thai wide flat noodles with beef. I asked for the drunken noodles to be as spicy as they could make them. I arrived at 4:25 for pick-up, and my order was ready. Their containers are great,& their portions were good. I had enough leftover for work lunch for two days; however I was extremely disappointed the drunken noodles weren't even remotely spicy. It's for this reason I didn't give them a higher rating. The food itself is good, but the drunken noodles didn't satisfy my craving, which is disappointing when you're looking forward to something and are paying for the meal.

Yelp
One of the more highly rated places in Elk Grove. Love their pad see ew and mango sticky rice.

Yelp
Been going since 2012 and we love the food here, always hot the spot every time we get thai. Our favorite thai place

Yelp
This is my go to Thai Restaurant in Elk Grove, the flavor and sauces that come with the Crispy Chicken is top notch! All the servers are very intentive and friendly. The restaurant is rather small so be ready to wait for to be seated.
