South End mainstay from a mother‑son team, spotlighted by The News Tribune for hearty portions and homestyle favorites. Order pineapple fried rice, pad Thai, or curries; it’s classic comfort in a simple setting.

It seems nice enough inside. The food was mediocre at best. Pad Se Ewe seems to be the best item after a couple of visits. There's no depth to the food. The Mongolian beef tasted like brown sugar, soy sauce and no real other marinated flavors. I would go somewhere else or at least the Cambodian place next door. Almost gave them 2 stars. The crab Rangoon was the tastiest part and I liked how it was pinched rather than twisted up. The garlic chicken had some pretty chewy pieces that were tough to chew through. The flavor was there at least, but a few pieces were tossed with a lot of fish sauce. The drunken noodles (not the name it goes by on the menu) needed flavor and almost had an old sponge taste. It was one of the few times I'd send it back. My counterpart said it was ok and said it didn't bother them, so take this info on this one as you will. The wait staff was kind enough, but almost seemed to just stare at us when they were around us. It was a little strange. I'm not sure I'd find a reason to come back here with so many good options nearby unless it was for a gathering.

Thai Hunt 2 is, without a doubt, a 5-star gem that deserves every bit of praise. My recent visit to this restaurant left me thoroughly impressed, and I'm delighted to share my glowing review. The culinary delights at Thai Hunt 2 are truly outstanding. The green curry and Pad Thai I had were incredibly delicious, bursting with authentic Thai flavors that were both aromatic and delectable. The freshness of the ingredients and the skillful preparation are evident in every bite. If you're a fan of Thai cuisine, this place is a must-visit. One of the aspects that truly distinguishes Thai Hunt 2 is its staff. The team here is wonderfully friendly, ensuring that every guest feels welcome and appreciated. Their attentive service and willingness to assist with menu choices or special requests contribute to the overall dining experience. What sets this restaurant apart even further is the owner's caring approach to the entire experience. They go above and beyond to ensure that diners have an exceptional meal. Their dedication to providing top-notch cuisine and service is evident, and it makes all the difference in creating a memorable visit. In summary, I highly recommend Thai Hunt 2 to anyone seeking an exceptional Thai dining experience. The food is exceptional, the staff is friendly, and the owner's commitment to creating a fantastic dining atmosphere is remarkable. This is a 5-star restaurant that consistently delivers on all fronts, and I can't wait to return to savor more of their delectable dishes.

Everything I’ve had here is absolutely delicious. The Panang curry is my favorite thing to get.

Google
One of my all-time favorite Thailand, food restaurants. My wife and mother-in-law also love it. The family that owns it does the cooking. Everything is freshen hot. It is prepared after you order it. The restaurant itself is spacious and you don’t feel overcrowded . the food is very delicious.

Google
First time ordering here flavor of the food is good. I gave 2 starts because I specifically ordered Pad thai with NO PEANUTS but my order had a whole lot of it. Im not a fan of the crunchy peanuts with my noodles. The panang curry tasted good but was pretty runny. I gave this place a shot because its closer to my home but I'll stick with my usual Thai restaurant Peanut Sauce on Tacoma Mall Blvd.

Google
Nice place, the food is super spicy, if you can’t tolerate spicy food like me, order noodles.

Google
So happy to find this place! The lunch specials are incredible. I had the Thai Hut Rama and it was massive! I barely finished the Rama part and a bit of the Pad Thai that comes with it. I took home enough Pad Thai to make two bowls the next day. The service was very friendly. I will be back!

Yelp
Wanted to try more local food after moving down from Seattle. After trying many Thai places I can finally say this place has the best Pad Thai I have tried yet in Tacoma! I ordered for pick up and got the Pad Thai and Thai Noodle Soup. The Pad Thai tasted amazing and I loved how there was a little char as well which is something i'm always looking for. There was also an option online to make it more saucy which is always a plus because I hate dry Pad Thai! The Thai Noodle Soup was very good in flavor but I just wished it had more toppings. It just had chicken basil and cilantro. The interior was nice and clean with an open kitchen. I can tell it was ran by a family which made the environment very cozy! If i was to dine in though i would probably like some music playing but overall the ambiance is great! I would definitely come here again if I'm ever craving some Pad Thai

Yelp
This use to be one of my favorite Thai restaurants but the last two times I ordered the Phad Thai it was horrible. It had a weird smell and taste, it was made with dark meat which added to the taste being different. The sauce was more tangy than sweet. I think they have new owners. I will not be going back there.

Yelp
Food was so good and fresh. The Thai coffee was so smooth and delicious. Definitely want to go back to try more on the menu the food tasted real authentic and the service was amazing.

Yelp
This is a quiet spot near an electric car charger so we swung by before plugging in. The pad Thai was outstanding! The pineapple fried rice was unfortunately not our favorite and half of our crab Rangoon had no filling in them, but that freaking pad Thai alone snagged 4 stars.

Yelp
Excellent food. I ordered the Golden Cashew with Chicken and it was perfect! I would of loved some mushrooms in it but I survived. My guy ordered the Thai Noodle Soup with Chicken and Shrimp the broth was very tasty and the noodles kept growing. Needless to say we took most of this dish home. Our waitress was pleasant and efficient with beverages and requests.

Yelp
I have been going to lunch here for years. They are always friendly and serve great food. My favorite is Red Curry Chicken and Pad Thai but the Swimming Rama is also very good. The lunch combos are very reasonably priced and you get so much food! If you are in the Tacoma Mall neighborhood stop by here. You won't be disappointed.

Yelp
inside a strip mall with other businesses and restaurants, very clean, friendly staff

Yelp
Ordered Mango fried rice with chicken and for some reason they added shrimp as well. I ordered 5 star spice but turns out they don't use spice seasoning like most Thai places, they just cut up a piece of chili pepper and toss it in. The overall dish is just so so so bland and lacks flavor. Never again.

Yelp
I saw an employee go from using the toilet back to work in the kitchen without washing hands

Yelp
I love Thai food but I love a restaurant that has the old school Thai style decorations. It helps with the ambiance. The food was good too and friendly and quick service. I had the pad see ew. That tasted like a classic dish. Wings were delicious and crispy.
google avatar

Krissm A.

Yelp
Great food great service! This is my go to spot for panang curry I love the flavor and the mix. Chicken wings were nicely fried and our tofu fried rice was flavorful. We didn't really enjoy the mango sticky rice dessert but overall the service and quality of food was excellent. Our server not sure her name was helpful and friendly. Parking is located all over and lots of seating

Yelp
I love this local restaurant! The family that owns it are very friendly and very understanding when orders get mixed up and asked to correct. Food is always on point overall. They have a good menu to choose from. Trust me, I'm a regular here

Yelp
I've been coming here for over a decade, this is probably my favorite Thai place ever and whenever I get Thai elsewhere I always find myself always comparing to Thai hut 2s food and service. I recently moved back in state and had been craving good Thai food, especially since finding good Thai food in the south is next to impossible. I convinced my friend to come check it out with me and what do you know the same lady that's been working here since I started frequenting this place over a decade ago was still here. And she remembered me too! This is the type of relationship I want with every establishment I visit lol. But seriously they make you feel so welcome here. Now for the food, I've pretty much tried most of their menu over the years and I love it all. Some favorites are their crab cream cheese wontons, spring rolls, curries, and their noodle dishes have never disappointed. They have an awesome lunch menu as well and do yourself a favor while you're here and order their Thai tea to drink, you will not regret it. This is a hidden gem amongst Thai food in Tacoma and service is always so welcoming.

Yelp
Omg , food is everything!! So good!! The service is great and fast, didn't wait forever for my meal!! Fresh rolls are so fresh didn't taste old like others Ive tried!! Got the calamari too for appetizer it was so delicious! And the pad Thai was so good! Full of flavor and not dry at all! Overall, all I got was satisfaction and craving satisfied ! Well worth the price too. The place looks clean, beautiful, and relaxing!

Yelp
I love Thai food, and this is one of my favorite restaurants in the Tacoma area. Their lunch specials are unbeatable! Reasonably priced and large quantity!

Yelp
This place serves some of the best Thai food I've ever had. Ordered take out and the food smelled so good I forgot to take pictures before we started digging in. Also they serve some bomb Thai tea, highly recommend if you enjoy those. Service is excellent and the staff is welcoming and friendly. Will becoming back to eat in next time!

Yelp
Arrived with 11 people restaurant was completely empty. We were turned away b/c we had not called 24 hrs to let them know. I asked if we could still stay if we just sat at 3 different tables she said no. She literally was turning away $500 in business and had not a soul in the restaurant. The new owners will run this place into the ground. We went next door to Pho Ever and they were happy to serve us.

Jacky T.

Yelp
Tonight I bought 3 cups of Thai tea. When I drank it, there was a very strange smell, and the smell of spoiled tea. I called the store but the store was closed.

Yelp
The Phad Thai is okay; the noodles were a little chewy/unercooked. I don't know what the other dishes taste like but I won't be going back there again. I ordered to go and ended up waiting more than half an hour and more if I didn't ask about my order after some minutes. It turns out the cashier took my money but not actually the order. After the other woman tried to figure it out, the order was filled. She handed me the bag without so much as a word. No apologies, no "Sorry and thank you for waiting," no compensation whatsoever. If an apology was made, I'd think about going back to try other dishes, but this is a big fat NO. I did, however, notice they were friendly to the Caucasian family that had dined in and on their way out. So it might be a great place to eat if you fit that profile.

Yelp
Tried a Thai Hut 2 today for lunch specials on advice of a friend and was very pleased with my combo E. Loved the fresh spinach and crunchy bamboo shoots with delicious peanut sauce, chicken and Pad Thai! Had one star spice and it wasn't too spicy and just perfect for me. Husband enjoyed his meal as well. Enough for leftovers and reasonable prices. New owner has cooked Thai food for 27 years and came to our table to check in personably. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Used to be one of my favorite places to eat back in high school. But lately, not so much due to the service. The food has always been spot on, consistently. The past few times have not been different. My favorite things to get are the pad see ew and pad thai. Both are always really good and delicious, every time. The thai tea tastes amazing as well. But the service the past two times I was here was very lackluster. Both times, the servers were inattentive, unknowledgeable, and unhelpful with the questions we had. The previous time I was here, the server seemed more concerned with her phone. It would nice if the servers were more engaging and showed a little more interest in their customers, but the food, as always, was excellent.

Yelp
This place is so good. The service, the food, its a pleasant experience, very glad we found this little place. I had the pad woon sen, no meat, I like meat but I wanted to try the dish as it was meant to be and it was amazing. I ordered spice level 3 and it was good but not too spicy, I probably could do a 4 level but I love spicy food. I will definitely be back to try more dishes.

Yelp
I wanted some fried rice for dinner. After researching on Yelp I decided on Thai Hut 2. I was excited to try it. I placed my order by phone. The guy didn't take my name or number but I just said okay and went with it. He said it would take 20 minutes for my order. The ride took 20 minutes so I thought surely it would be ready or close to it when I arrived. I walked in the door and was told, they were waiting on my wings. The rest of the order was bagged and sitting in the ledge behind the cash register. Fine. I sat to wait. No one came to check on me or anything. After another almost 30 minutes, I walk to the register. Young girl never said one word. Just standing there looking lost. After a few minutes one of the women cooking came to ask what was going on. I told her I wanted to check on the status of my order. 1st she couldn't find it. I handed her my receipt. She saw the bag still sitting in the same spot. She said " We are waiting on your wings". Really?! So I see her walk to the other lady cooking who just at that moment reaches for a bag of wings and put them in the deep fryer. Lady came back and told me to give her 2 minutes. I told her that they just started cooking and that the rest of my food had been sitting for at least 30 minutes. She immediately SNATCHED the bag of my food off the ledge and THREW it on the counter. She said I'll just make it all again. No ma'am! With that NASTY ASS attitude you can't feed my dog. I requested my money returned. She was talking loudly and had such a nasty attitude as if it was my fault. The young guy who had now returned to wherever he had disappeared to told her to stop yelling. Please remember: we don't have to patronize your business. Have a better attitude and treat people like it matters to you that they decided to spend their hard earned money there. Headed to Silk Thai Cafe.

Yelp
Friendly staff & a loving owner. The owner is originally from Bangkok so she has a lot of her cuisine flavors and dishes influenced from this region of Thailand. Restaurant is in a strip mall next to the winco. Server will tell you the specials of the day and what is most popular. We ordered the pad see ew &my husband ordered a chicken dish. Rice is extra, so please know in advance. I also subbed my noodles to pad Thai thin rice stick noodles vs the wide flat stick. Pad see we came with a lot of veggies and chicken My husbands dish had so much meat and was deliciously ginger. The portions were pretty big, so we had taken them home for lunch the next day. Restaurant charges a fair price and is relatively cheap for the amount they bring to you. Will go back for lunch specials!

Yelp
I do not recommend eating here. A group of us met there one by one. They forced every diner to leave a 20% tip because 8 people showed up separately, Overpriced! Unbelievable. They will do anything for a buck! Beware.

Yelp
Food is amazing! Everything is very tasty and fresh. I've had several items on the menu and enjoyed every one of them. My favorites are the chicken satay and blanket prawn.

Yelp
I found a dead insect in my food. I'll never go back. I didn't have the time or inclination to go back and get a my money refunded.

Yelp
Best Thai place in town and I been to most. Food is well portioned, delicious and very presentable. Great authentic small family restaurant. We love to get our food #10 spicy. Will stop in at least twice a month while stopping in for some Winco grocery shopping.

Yelp
My new favorite Thai restaurant in Tacoma area. Really fresh ingredients. Friendly people. Ginger Delight is the bomb for my new low fat diet.

Yelp
Not sure - went there with my family yesterday January 3rd at 1pm. My son and husband had red curry and got deathly ill within 8 hours (vomiting, diarrhea, and craps) while the rest of my family had something else and did not get sick. Should we call them? I read that spoiled coconut milk or a dish that has been reheated improperly can cause food poisoning. Also, we had our 8 year-old granddaughter with us and there is no children's menu. They made absolutely NO effort to accommodate us when we asked for a small bowl of fried rice. We had to buy a full entre' which was 14.95 AND we go there all of the time. I'm not sure we will go back.

Yelp
My chicken was moldy and I've only had it for one night i ate it for dinner and took it to work for leftovers and realized all the chicken was moldy...

Yelp
We saw this place online and finally decided to give it a try. Nice and clean inside and the wait staff are very friendly. We ordered orange tofu and spicy basil tofu. The orange tofu was made with an orange sauce that had a citrus twang to it as you would expect. The veggies and tofu cooked perfectly. The spicy basil tofu what extraordinary. One of the best we ever tasted. The right amount of basil and of course perfectly cooked tofu and veggies. This dish is just wonderful on the palate. Will definitely be back again for that. The prices are reasonable and there are more vegan/ vegetarian options on the menu.

Yelp
Yummy curry, Awesome fresh rolls, highly recommend those!! Awesome service & very quick on making our food. This is our go to place for Thai food in Tacoma

Yelp
We have eaten here a few times and it is always great! The service is amazing, the food is great flavor and plentiful! We always enjoy eating here and will continue to do so.

Yelp
The Pad Thai is soooo delicious! So is the Pad Sew Ew (if that's how you spell it). The 3 is not spicy, and the 4 is spicy, wish there was like a 3.5 lol The chicken is okay, but the tofu is sooooo good! I do not like tofu, but their tofu is a game changer! Definitely recommend it if you are looking for some good food, good price, and great service. Sorry no photos :(

Yelp
I had the worst service here and will not be coming back. This Thai place was my all time fav and the staffs were always friendly and welcoming. When I visited here with bunches of friends recently, I didn't even get to eat because they messed up my order multiple times because the waitress girl didn't listen to my order clearly and ended up blaming it on me that I kept "changing" the spicy level when she misheard for the other girl's order for mine. She also didn't listen on someone's order in my group for requesting to take out the peanuts. Thankfully she was not allergic to it, but it could've been really bad if it did. Not only she was yelling at me but she also yelled at the other customers across from our table that she was busy and that they can leave if they don't want to wait. They ended up leaving. I had to take my food to go since they made my food after they got everyone's in the restaurant and even then she didn't even bother telling me it was ready and she set aside even before I went up to the cash register to pay. Last time I came too, my friend got a burnt pad see ew so yeah not so much on food quality either.

Yelp
Best Thai food in town. Good portions, prices and friendly people. Crab Wontons and phad Thai is a must have. Once you try it, you will keep coming back for more.
google avatar

Tee R.

Yelp
My experience here was not great at all. First of all I ordered the crab Rangoon which is supposed to come with crab & cream cheese but was only filled with cream cheese, second was I ordered the spicy basil beef with shredded beef like ground beef and they brought me my plate with the beef not shredded it was in chunks and the server told me that she told the cook but looked at me like as if that's what I ordered, they took it back to "shred the beef " but gave it back to me with smaller chunks of beef and not all the meat was cooked. My boyfriend got the chicken pnang curry and the chicken had no flavor whatsoever and it was dry. Then at the end we got our check and they didn't even add up the total correctly they added on $8 to the total and also charged $2.00 just to have shredded beef because it was "special" . I will not be going back here.

Chris G.

Yelp
Awesome food and service. Spice scale 1-5 is somewhat Americanized. The kids "2" level noodle dishes were flavorful and mild. I had red curry that was a "4" and a friend had the same at "5". The four was good, but the five was awesome with Thai chilies in the curry. Lots of fresh veggies and basil in the curry. All three noodle dishes had excellent "wok hey." The staff was very friendly and on top of drinks and other needs. We live out of town and will be back next time we drive through.

Yelp
Most authentic Pad Thai I can find in Seattle area, consistency and quality time after time with friendly service.

Yelp
Wet good food and service! We really enjoyed our lunch!! We were shopping in the area and found Thai Hut 2 on our maps app.

Yelp
I wish I could give this place a stronger rating, but can't. I ordered the Pra Rahm noodles. Since I have become a pescetarian, I can only eat from the Vegetarian menu or seafood menu! I didn't know whether if I wanted to eat rice and entree or just a noodles entree. Anything with the word peanut sauce, gets my vote! I tried Rama noodles? I think or Rama chicken? It was some awkward tasting peanut sauce covered chicken... at Ayothaya in Puyallup. I was hesitant whether I should order something with peanut sauce again... totally went for it! Hmm... I really liked the flat wide noodles... I loved the spinach! Tons of it.... but the sauce was just too salty! If it was less salty... it would have been perfect!! The noodles... were just DRENCHED in the overly salty peanut sauce... which I had to pair up with some of my friend's brown rice. Speaking of, the brown rice... was not sticky.. not saying all brown rice has to be sticky but it did taste and look a little too old... and a bit stale? I have only tried brown rice once or twice in my life but I knew it was not supposed to be like the one I ate. My friend who asked for Garlic Salmon... said absolutely NO OIL... The salmon came out... "DEEP-FRIED" in oil... and the rest of the sauce and vegetables were sauteed and ...drenched in sauce. It was my first time here, heard some great stuff about the place, but they seem to over season and drown their foods in sauce... I don't know if I will be coming back here.

Rodney T.

Yelp
Best Thai food I have ever had. Very fresh salad and noodles. All made not to spice per my request. Owners are very nice and even spent some time chatting with them. Great place!

Yelp
Everything here is always delicious and the service is exceptional!! My favorite is the Pad See Ew & mango sticky rice! You must try the mango sticky rice if you are here!
