"Any hankerings for pad thai or noodle soup in town can be satiated at Thai Ocha. It’s yellow curry and tom kha soup earn raves, as do the Thai dumplings made with ground pork and shrimp. It is BYOB, so grab a bottle of wine and go." - Courtney E. Smith

Google
5 stars mainly for the food. It’s excellent. Wonton soup is the best I’ve ever had. My go to is the combination fried rice. We had the shrimp with peanut sauce- sweet & sour chicken. Fried wontons for appetizer. All great! Staff is always very friendly but usually have to wait for your food. But worth the wait. Dining area small & busy with to go orders. Little pricy.

Google
Ambience is superb so warm and cozy. As soon as you enter there is a positive vibe. They serve quality and fresh food. The portion sizes are big so be careful while ordering. Tom kha soup is delicious! Chicken sesame with rice is also good (photo). Sticky rice with egg custard is also good. They have pleasant staff but the service is slow. I would definitely come again!

Google
LOVED this place!!!! Great location, delicious entrees, reasonable prices and good service. Loved the crab rangoon appetizer! Scrumptious! My mussaman chicken curry was the best I’ve had— and that’s my go-to. I will definitely be back!!!

Google
We got Pineapple Curry & Hot N Spicy. Both were good. It was Valentine’s Day so they were really busy but the ambience was great.

Julissa Garcia

Google
Such a cozy place to find delicious Thai food! The fresh shrimp rolls and broccoli plate were amazing. The presentation was also beautiful. They have a good measure of their heat levels too!

Google
Definitely check this place out if you’re in Denton it’s a great hole in the wall Thai food place. Food was delicious and savory all the spices and flavors came together nicely. It was understaffed during the rush time when my friend and I sat down to eat, it is a small business so it’s understandable. It was a bit of a wait since there was really only one server taking care of everyone, I recommend going when they’re not too busy. Staff was very accommodating, I was given the wrong order and they immediately took it back to the kitchen to be fixed. Had the Panang Curry it was delicious, pretty big portions too! Atmosphere is really nice, they have two tvs there as well so that you can enjoy food and a show. Had a great time tonight thanks for serving us Thai Ocha definitely will be back for more! 😋 Also parking can get a little crazy when it’s busy it’s a small lot, drive safe when you turn in at rush hour.

Google
Excellent Thai food. Everything we had was delicious! The Tom Kha soup, avocado rolls and fresh rolls were amazing!

Denise Turic

Google
Our Fresh Roll with shrimp appetizer and my Khao Soi with chicken were excellent, delicious flavors and sauces. Unfortunately my husband's Fried Pompano was overcooked, but the garlic basil sauce was excellent. The menu is huge, we'll be back to try more items. Thanks!

Shon L.

Yelp
Excellent. First time to visit and won't be the last Started with Fresh Rolls (shrimp) and Thai herbed chicken. Then for main course Chicken Pad Kee Mow (level 3) and the Spicy Green bean with Beef (level 0) Will be back soon

Yelp
Food was fine, but we were surrounded by empty, dirty tables and tables that had not been cleared of dirty dishes. There was not one clean table and n our side of the restaurant. Our table had to be cleared and cleaned before we could eventually be seated, but tables around us were left dirty the entire time we were there. There was food left on the floor. It made for a very uncomfortable dining experience. Priority seemed to be take-out orders over those dining in. We received our mains at nearly the same time as our appetizer. We had to ask for napkins and chopsticks, after the mains were brought to the table. We were offered refills of our drinks, which were appreciated. There was also a large cockroach in the restroom, which thankfully I didn't see until I had finished eating.

Yelp
Been looking for a Thai restaurant in the greater DFW area and couldn't believe that we found it in Denton of all places. This place was amazing, great food, great prices and above all very flavorful. We've eaten Thai food all over the place and can say that this is one of the better Thai food we've had in Texas.

Mark F.

Yelp
A very safe choice for your Thai food fix close to University Drive, the border between north and south city limits; I think I have visited here every year I have been in Little d, since 1998. It's a great new year and there's no better way to start a brand new year than a visit here with the family and friends. Cheers, Mark F.

Yelp
Stopped by here with my niece on our way to look at UNT. This is a classic hole in the wall type of place. We were greeted and seated right away for our lunch. Their menu is huge!! Everything looked so good! We decided to go with lunch specials. The specials come with salad or soup and a mini veggie spring roll. When I ordered my Hot and Spicy, I was asked how spicy I wanted it in a scale of 1-5. I like spicy food so I said a 3. I figured I'd play it safe. Very glad I did!!! It was spicy enough to get the nose running!! The flavors were great!!!! Veggies were crisp and fresh and the brown rice was perfect. My niece ordered the fried rice and she said it was excellent!! Definitely will go here again when in Denton!!

Kathi S.

Yelp
Food was amazing, service was great. Lots of flavor, hot and fresh. Panang is my favorite and they do such a good job.

Meree C.

Yelp
This is as close to authentic thai food so far. Every time I ordered the food has been consistent. Tyke spice scale is a bit on the milder side but that's okay. I had the pad thai, duck in basil sauce, shrimp fried rice, seafood Tom yum and rad nah. All pretty delicious. The portions are pretty decent as well. For my past orders it has been Togo but when entering I am always greeted and the staff is very nice. So far this will be my spot for decent thai food that hits the nostalgic spot.

Cathleen S.

Yelp
Our go-to for Thai to-go! We love the curries: green is my favorite and yellow is my husband's. Table service is also available and has always been attentive.

Claire R.

Yelp
Food was good...I would order something different next time though as the broccoli dish was a bit bland. Shrimp fresh rolls were great and good flavor. Great service and very fast! The place is super cute and cozy. We will be back to try more dishes!!

Douglas V.

Yelp
Food is overpriced and quality has gone down hill. Broke waiters and waitresses added $40,to tip, but owner fixed it. Owner added tip of 20% tip on an automatic tip for table of 8. There are better Thai restaurants in Denton now.

Zack H.

Yelp
Mostly rice and more rice, no protein. What happened Thai Ocha? I spent $20 on carry out for fried rice and beef about a week ago. The spice and flavor was there, but wow I only got 5 tiny bites of meats. I use to love this place, favorite Thai spot near my house. They use to also include an egg roll. I am sorely disappointed. I might try again, but my last visit was unacceptable. I'll be sure to open the box before I take it home next time. I know inflations sucks, but common $20 should be able to feed at least one person.

Elise F.

Yelp
Natalie and incorrect orders... I have ordered the same thing for over a year without problems and suddenly they can't seem to make a fried rice dish without errors. During my final attempt to do business with Thai Ocha I explained that the last 2 orders I received were incorrect and Natalie answered, "Okay...what can I get you?" After placing an order, I asked her to read it back to me and she did so incorrectly. I explained that communicating to the cooks something other than I communicated to her is the most likely cause of the errors I've been experiencing, and her response was, "No, they know what I mean." But my last 2 orders were incorrect, so will you please just speak the order to the cook the same way I spoke it to you so that I don't receive something other than what I have paid for again. "Yes." If you enjoy disrespect instead of customer service and receiving something other than you paid for, hit Natalie up at Thai Ocha.

Grace O.

Yelp
Fast friendly service and the food flavorful and authentic with beautiful presentation of the spring roll. The pad Thai was plentiful and so yummy!!! I'll be back!

Jim F.

Yelp
Authentic and modern is how I would describe. Wonderful flavors. Super service in this little, clean restaurant. Now that Haslet has better access it would be easy to get there.

Jesse A.

Yelp
I got the chicken pad Thai and my wife had the orange chicken. The chicken was good in both dishes and I liked how they sliced the chicken for the pad Thai. It was cut correctly and not tough or chewy. Both dishes tasted really good. My wife like the chicken, but I didn't love the thicker battered chicken in her dish. We will definitely eat here again.

Tobias B.

Yelp
Best Thai food in the DFW metroplex. Great service, great everything. The food is amazing and everyone there is so nice. I have eaten at several Thai restaurants in the metroplex and none of them compare.

Susan T.

Yelp
I used to LOVE LOVE LOVE this place. Came today with some friends for lunch & included an order to go. Our lunch was served timely but getting a correct check was a hassle - not right meals on checks, etc. I asked about my to-go meal and was told it was being packaged up - 20 minutes later it finally came out. The food was just mediocre. Not near as tasty as it used to be. Not sure if they've changed owners or what has happened but I can assure you I won't be back.

Blind W.

Yelp
Friendly service and good Thai flavors. It's a cozy cafe/market combo that can either help you shop for your own ingredients or just order whatever you need to get that 'fix' when you crave delicious Thai!

Adam C.

Yelp
Man I had high hopes for this place. Grabbed Pad Thai (didn't have Pad See Ew on lunch special) at heat level 4 which waiter said would make me sweat. Waiter also asked if I wanted extra lime, which is what he suggested, and I said yes. It came out and didn't have a single lime, much less extra lime. Dish was OK, but very sweet, and not very spicy. I understand there's brown sugar in this dish, but this had quite a bit of sweetness that took away from everything else. Not sure they even had peanuts in this one either which was odd. The spring roll that came with the special was obviously from a bag. I was almost embarrassed for them when I saw it. Tasted like I thought it would in their sweet and sour sauce that was served with it. Incredibly, and why I probably won't go back, the highlight of the show was the few shreds of iceberg lettuce served with a very good peanut dressing. I could drink that dressing!

Preston D.

Yelp
We come here often for the great food and service. The Tom Kha soup is exceptionally good and very filling. Make sure to order some veggie egg rolls too, they're great!

Anthony B.

Yelp
Great food. Lots to choose from. Definitely great Thai choice. Friendly staff and not to busy for quick dinner.

Bailee K.

Yelp
I've enjoyed Thai Ocha on two separate occasions and both have been delicious and enjoyable! Ordering ahead for take out is easy to do online. Homemade curry is unique and so the spiciness has varied the two times I've been but both have been flavorful and very tasty! I've also had the crab Rangoon and would recommend that as well.

Gi L.

Yelp
Wow.. gave them another try. Price went up and quality went down. What a disappointment. Order kaoi soi but some weird soup came. They use to give out salad and egg rolls for entries. Now they give out panda style white rice lol.

Lawrencia L.

Yelp
Delicious Thai food at reasonable prices. I had the shrimp fried rice, which was delicious. Well seasoned as well. I like that you are able to pick your spice level. The only thing I will note is they are going through staffing changes, so be patient with them. The new manager Tracy was really nice warm. Be sure to note if you go for lunch you want the lunch special vs the dinner portion. This is a nice hidden gem in Denton. You can tell there are a lot of regulars who come here often to patronize the restaurant. There are options to call ahead and order off you like and the servers were wearing mask.

Sara C.

Yelp
Everything was sooo salty:/ I saw good reviews about this place but I dont think its that good. There's another thai restaurant in denton that is actually the best thai food ive had but I won't say which because that'll be messed up:) Service though was really good here~ Also serving size is big its just so salty :(

Eric B.

Yelp
Edit - response to owners response - I didn't microwave it. It arrived like that. Own your mistake, don't blame customers with made up stories. Dropping from 2 to 1 stars for your response. Original: Ordered take out from Uber eats. Orange chicken was sitting in a pool (not puddle, POOL) of liquid. Not sauce, some type of brothy liquid. Breading was soaked and soggy from sitting in liquid, chicken inside was overcooked and tough. Couldn't even cut it clean through with a steak knife. Literally the worst orange chicken I have ever had in my life. Ubereats of course won't refund us or help in any way. Restaurant is now closed and can't call them. You're better off at panda express, which is sad to say.

The D.

Yelp
First time I went through a really good and the food was great. Second time I won t was very soupy not as good maybe have to go on the right day whatever day that is

Amy S.

Yelp
In Denton TX for work and a local recommended Thai Ocha. Friendly, helpful staff and the food was good. My favorite is the fresh rolls with shrimp with a yummy peanut sauce. I also had the spicey green beans with chicken which was also good. You choose the spice level. I like spicey so ordered medium heat and it was perfect. I recommend giving this place a try if your in Denton TX :)

Yelp
About 15 years ago, Glenda and I passed through Denton. We stopped and ate Thai food. It was wonderful, but I never remembered the name. Today, I'm in Denton, and I picked the closest Thai restaurant to the hotel. It's the same place! Service was very slow, because one girl had the whole restaurant to herself. And she did a great job. Tip according please! I always want something different. The Seafood Hor Mok caught my eye. A seafood medley sautéed, throw in some bell pepper, carrot, basil, mix in a red curry sauce, and serve over steamed cabbage. Well, I put all that on top of Jasmine steamed rice. TMO. Total Mouth Orgasm! This dish was phenomenal! You know how squid can be so rubbery? Nope, not here! Throughly enjoyed every bite. The egg rolls are very good and twice the size of where I usually go. There was enough left over that I'll be eating again later tonight. Feel free to take my advice and come to Thai Ocha!

Raquel D.

Yelp
I was visiting family in the area + was craving Thai food. this is a small + quiet establishment. our hostess / waitress was so sweet + thoughtful. food was good. my pad see ew was a little heavy on the sauce. my man got the spicy basil fried rice + really liked it (he got the "hot" option, but says he wishes it was spicier haha). I also ordered the mango sticky rice to go + it was probably the best I've ever eaten

Lauren K.

Yelp
ordered level 4 spicy, this shit NOT! spicy. ordered extra bean sprouts and extra carrot for $1.50 each...they skimpin...that's not even 2 baby carrots. i want my $3 back

Ri H.

Yelp
I've given this business 2 tries (to go) and both were a big disappointment. And from my experience, it's obvious that the manager/owner could care less about his customers or his food. They would rather argue and be 'right'. The first time I ordered I got the vegetable soup (which they forgot to add to my bag) and I got the yellow curry. It asked on the app if you wanted mild, moderate or hot. I picked mild. When I went to eat it, it was anything but mild. I actually threw it away because it was to spicy. Maybe I got someone else's? Maybe not? But I was hoping they would make it right When I told the restaurant they said that there is no way to make it mild. It just is what it is. I beg to differ since I've had yellow curry all over the world- including Thailand. You just add more coconut milk. And second why give the option for degree of spice if you can't or won't change it? First strike. But because they left off my soup, they said come in and they would give me the soup I paid for. So generous I went back the second time to get my soup and try a couple different things. I got the duck (and you couldn't chew it cause it was so tough so we threw away) the fried wontons (which you could see were obviously burnt so I threw away) and the Pad Thai which was the only good thing so we all had to share. I took pictures to show the manager and they just said sorry. That's it. No offer to make it again. No discount for the trouble. Nothing. Second and 3rd strike. I don't need to go another time. Two times wasting my money is enough. I'll support another business that deserves it. This one doesn't. Don't waste your money Update: The owner/manager Mo sent me a private message telling me that 'things had changed' and that my review wasn't fair because it was 'last year'. I told him 'last year' was a little over a month ago and I stand by my experience so he commented something snippy under my review. We continued to private message and I explained that not listening and helping your customers, then leaving a snippy comment doesn't help his case. He then removed it. I'm blown away by the unprofessional need to be right of this guy. Geez so unpleasant. The irony was that I was thinking about giving them another try to see if things had changed but Mo's attitude and messages confirmed that nothing has really changed. It's important to have good food but if you have crappy customer service when things go wrong then you are missing the mark. You can say things have changed all day long but crappy customer service is crappy customer service. And it's obvious by all of his snippy and rude messages to me that nothing has really changed. He's just determined to be right.

Antoinette S.

Yelp
Definitely our fav thai food place. Small, tucked away but bursting with the flavors we love. Green & red curries our go-to meals. Great starter options. Generous sizing, usually too much, but great for a next day left over. We definitely recommend

Cameron A.

Yelp
This place is super duper good. Me and my girlfriend both decided to go here randomly and had a hankering for Thai food. I got the pad Thai with chicken and she got the yellow curry with chicken. Her's was mildly spicy while mine wasn't spicy at all. You can pick your spice level. I also got the chicken egg rolls which were crispy to perfection and she got the veggie spring rolls with peanut sauce which was fresh and so good. I definitely recommend this place. We will be coming back for lunch.

Riley B.

Yelp
Hate to say anything negative about a local restaurant. The server was so kind and friendly, but she was the only one for the whole restaurant. We ordered waters and our two meals, as well as a starter, as soon as we sat down. 45 minutes before we finally asked about our food and she realized she pocketed our ticket. They need more help, poor things! Ordered pad woon sen and pad Thai. Both were good but neither was the best we've had.

Catherine C.

Yelp
I ordered pa-nang curry and it wasn't bad. Pretty affordable lunch prices overall. Our server was very sweet.

Betsy V.

Yelp
Chicken pad Thai was ok..if you had authentic pad kee mow.. it should be more flavorful with a mixture of sweet sour and spicy.. but this one was lacking....noodles was over cooked and some what too sticky and the sauce was lacking a lot with the suppose to be stimulate all taste buds flavor factor. But the pad kee mow was delicious and flavorful, but kinda lacking in the flat noodles( wish it had a lil more)and the Thai herbal chicken was really good too. So I guess it just a hit and miss with who cooked your dishes. More made for the American taste buds than the true Asian taste buds.

Sheree Z.

Yelp
Went here with my boyfriend and it was so authentic. Love this cute mom and pop shop!

M T.

Yelp
Delicious food and Natalie gave great service. Accommodated our big group and customized our order.

Chris T.

Yelp
A locally owned and operated restaurant that offers some best Thia food in Denton County. I had the veggy spring rolls, fried dumplings, salmon and avocado with yellow curry, and hot and spicy shrimp. Review: Service was good Food was outstanding Location was convenient (half a block off of University Blvd) but can be difficult to find as it doesn't look like a restaurant from the outside. Building and furnishings are dated Parking is hit or miss. There is some in the back. If you're looking for change from all the usual restaurants in Denton, I would whole heartedly recommend this little hole-in-the-wall place. You won't regret it!

David N.

Yelp
So, just became a fan of Uber Eats so I can try different things. I had eaten previously here and it was ok. Tonight, however, the pad thai was so good. Steamed dumplings could be one of the best dishes I've ever had. Spice level is on point. Love it.

Kristin R.

Yelp
Family owned. Love the Tom Kha chicken noodle soup. Very fresh flavors. Friendly staff.

Chris S.

Yelp
The pickup wait was extremely long....like 1hr. 15 minutes long for a 2 person order. They seemed overwhelmed with the amount of orders and due to the current climate, I understand. Once we got to sit down and eat the food we quickly found our new local Thai joint! The place is great!

Patrick A.

Yelp
I don't care for Thai food really. Not my thing. But my wife ordered from here and was impressed. She ordered the Pad Thai and I she had me try it. I have to say as someone who doesn't like Thai food this was very good and very flavorful. Also tried the crab rangoons and those were really good as well. Again this was delivered to me and we did not dine in. But delivery was accurate. Packaged well and very good.

Steve H.

Yelp
Always good food, some outstanding dishes, nice atmosphere. Favorites include red and green curry, Penang salmon, fresh rolls.

Jessica T.

Yelp
YUM. I had lunch with a former teacher of mine and she was telling me how this is her favorite restaurant, now I know why. We had the curry chicken as an appetizer and although a bit hard to eat, it tasted really good with the peanut dipping sauce. For my entree I ordered the lunch portion pineapple curry with white rice, that also came with a veggie eggroll. I really enjoyed how the flavors were so well defined, it was just so rich with coconut milk and you could really taste the pineapple. Delicious. I've never enjoyed eating at a Thai restaurant as much as I did that day, and I've tried at least two other places in Denton. A definite try! I'll definitely return to try the other dishes.

Anil Kumar K.

Yelp
Got a rubber band in my Green Curry dish. I almost choked on this and pulled it out to show it to the waitress, she was shocked too but tried to make it look like it was not a big deal. Freaking Manager did not even come out to show some courtesy or apologize, she just kept sending back the Poor waitress, who was trying to do what she could. They said they'll void my dish but instead voided my wife's on the cheque. I never make so much fuss about these things but my wife is 5 months pregnant and we just wanted to make sure she did not eat some piece of the band from my curry, she was freaking out but no one even cared. Hated it.

Tudy T.

Yelp
Nothing special about this place. It was a hot day and the AC wasn't strong enough. They put fans here and there but it was still uncomfortable. We ordered all of our dishes medium spicy, but the papaya salad came out insanely spicy - took us 3 glasses of water to cool down. So I asked the waitress to change the rest of the dishes to mild because medium was not edible. She said not to worry because the papaya salad came spicier than other dishes and should only be ordered "mild". Being from Thailand and I know what medium spicy is, why ask for spicy level if they insist on making it their way.

Anastacia H.

Yelp
To say this rating needs 5 stars is an understatement. Do you know how long it's been since I've had a good curry soup? I've recently moved back to college, so this was a "home away from home" meal for me. I've spent most of my time looking for a really nice Thai place and, so far, the ones I've gone to were not hitting the spot for me. It's sad to say, but I hesitated ordering from here because of the negative reviews. Now, I ordered the Pa Nang Chicken Curry (Level 5 because I'm an Igbo ghel) with brown rice and everything went well. Granted, it did take time but the wait was worth it. The food tastes phenomenal and the quality was exceptional, so I definitely will be ordering a lot more often. Be expecting to see my name on your machines, I apologize in advance lol. But, in all seriousness, the only thing I wish I did differently was add shrimp to it. Thank you guys for making my rainy day shine :) #GoMeanGreen

Yelp
OMFG!!!! YES!!!! We moved to Denton about a week ago. We have found our go-to delivery place! The food is amazing!!! We ordered a bunch of dishes and ate them family style. Everyone loved it. Yellow curry, fresh rolls, chicken satay, yum woon sen, fried rice, pad kee mow, thai sukiyaki stirfry, tom kha noodle soup, thai pepper steak, sticky rice with egg custard, and black sticky pudding. I have no complaints, EVERYTHING was tasty! Even my picky husband from New Jersey enjoyed everything. He had a plate of food devoured before I had gotten a sampling of all the different dishes on my plate.
