The Best Restaurants in Sugar Land, Texas | Eater Houston

"One of the newer additions to Sugar Land’s dining scene, Thai Town serves up flavorful dishes rooted in the family recipes of owner Ami Mohn and chef Jakkrit Sampaotong. Diners can dig into red curry, drunken noodles, tom kha soup, and classic pad Thai. The drink list is just as varied, with options like Thai iced coffee, a lemon drop mocktail, and bottles of Kirin Ichiban." - Brianna Griff

Google
Really solid spot for Thai food. Everything came out fresh and flavorful, and the portions were just right. Thy, our waitress, was friendly and the place has an easygoing vibe- good for a quick lunch or casual dinner. We got Thai Green Curry, Eggplant Basil Beef, and Drunken Noodles. All incredible options I’d encourage anyone to try. Definitely a spot I’d come back to.

Google
I was visiting from out of town and stumbled upon Thai Town, and wow, what an unforgettable find. I’ve eaten at a lot of Thai restaurants over the years as me and my family are avid Thai food lovers, but this place easily ranks as one of, if not the best ones I’ve had. Every dish was bursting with flavor, perfectly balanced, and clearly made with passion and finesse. The ambience is beautiful and unique with a beautiful plant wall, stylish gold accents, and just full of modern yet timeless aesthetics. The service was truly top-notch. Everyone was kind, attentive, and welcoming in a way that made the whole experience feel special. They constantly checked in to make sure everything was to my liking and were always smiling and polite. Oh and the absolute best part? It’s HALAL! (which is such a rare and amazing bonus for Thai cuisine at this level of quality.) Lastly, do NOT leave without getting the mango sticky rice! Absolutely out of this world. The mango was perfectly ripe, the rice was warm and tender, and the creamy coconut sauce tied it all together. Culinary perfection of Thai staple. If I lived anywhere near Sugar Land, I’d be here all the time. This place isn’t just a great Thai restaurant, it’s low key one of the crown jewels of the entire area. Please do yourself a favor next time you’re in Sugar Land, and stop by Thai Town, you won’t regret it!

Google
Had such a great time at Thai Town! The food was super tasty. I loved the papaya salad and roti with curry. Our server, Thy, was so sweet and attentive, she really made the experience even better.

Google
I had an amazing dining experience at Tai Town! The food was delicious. What made the visit even better was the exceptional service from our waitress, May. She was incredibly attentive without being intrusive, always checking in at just the right moments to ensure we had everything we needed. I highly recommend Tai Town not only for its fantastic cuisine but also for the outstanding service, especially when May is on duty. Will definitely be coming back!

Google
This is my second time here and the service and food has yet to disappoint! I usually get the Khao Soi and it’s consistently delicious. In addition, I HAVE to get one of their drinks and I love the fact that they have non-alcoholic options. Tonight Thy was our waitress and she delivered amazing service and energy! 10/10 would recommend if you’re in the area!

Raunak A.

Google
Amazing food. We had Tom yum soup, Cashew nut, yellow curry, and drunken noodles. We loved the food. Cashew nut was 3 out of 5. Everything else was 5/5. Service: quick service and courteous staff. Atmosphere: very nice on the inside.

Google
I recently dined at Thai Town Restaurant and had such a wonderful experience! The food was absolutely delicious—full of authentic flavors and beautifully presented. What truly made the evening special was our server, Thy. Thy was incredibly friendly, attentive, and made sure everything was perfect throughout our meal. Their warm personality and excellent service made us feel so welcome. I highly recommend Thai Town to anyone craving great Thai food and top-notch service. Thank you, Thy, for making our visit so enjoyable!

Came here to celebrate Father’s Day. It was packed! Obviously a popular local spot. The food was delicious, very well seasoned and flavorful! The service was also good. The food came out quick and fresh. Would recommend this spot if you enjoy Thai food in the area.

Yelp
Amazing! Best Thai food in town! The strawberry lemonade is a refreshing complement to the meal.

Yelp
Thai Town is a busy thai restaurant in Telfair. It offers a good amount of big tables so you can enjoy with your group and also a bar section so that you can also dine alone if you wish (though to be honest, I wouldn't be mad if they removed the bar area because there was no one sitting at the bar and no bartender working the bar either). The service is fast and friendly and we were seated and attended to very quickly. Of everything we tried, I would say that the Khao Soi, Crispy Garlic Catfish Fillets, and the Drunken Noodles were my favorite. Typically, you will find all of the same dishes on a thai restaurant's menu and they all taste relatively similar. I'm not sure what it is about Thai Town, but all of their dishes have a unique and delicious fragrance. Their stir fried noodles also have a smokiness similar to wok-hei in cantonese cooking. I'm not so certain that this is a hidden gem since it was very busy when we visited around 2pm on a Sunday afternoon, but the crowds and whatever hype there is is valid. The food is tasty and authentic and the prices/portions are more than fair.

Yelp
Came here after lunch hour, and the restaurant was still a little packed. There was no wait for a table for two. The restaurant was decorated simply. Parking was free, and there were ample parking spots. Started with the chicken satay dish, and it was just ok. There wasn't any flavor to the chicken satay nor the sauce that came with it. The pad woon sen was flavorful, but the crab fried rice was a letdown as it was tasteless. The service staff were friendly and polite, but the food wasn't up to par.

Yelp
The service or lack there of gained them this review- they DID NOT fill our waters after we asked or bring additional items we requested until we were finished with our meal which did no good. Every time we have gone it is like a whole NEW staff which is odd. This time none of them knew when happy hour was, the bartender didn't know what Pinot Grigio was and then they attempted to charge us full price for happy hour wine, when happy hour is an all day thing on Monday/Tuesday! The food however is ALWAYS great - my fave Thai food in Sugar Land- compliments to the chef! The owners/managers need to do a better job of training!

Yelp
A little outside of our usual area but had some tasty eats and a bonus! Another "if I lived over here I would come more often" place. Friendly service, full bar, shared parking lot, all day HH Mon and Tues Appetizer combo, small but good: coconut shrimp, chicken satay, cream cheese golden bag, crispy cheese roll Beef larb: could have used more lettuce for wrapping Crispy pad thai: new to us! Crispy wide noodles, leaned sweet Roti and curry: good Khao soi with chicken: fave Crab fried rice: rice was a tiny bit overcooked Thai drunken spaghetti with seafood: good Mango sticky rice: typical BONUS super delicious house made chili crisp that you can purchase! Honestly it really boosted all the dishes and the texture was top tier

Yelp
We tried A LOT of dishes here. Came to thai town for father's day and we ordered a variety of dishes including: papaya salad, drunken noodles, pad thai, crispy catfish, khao soi, green curry, larb and mango sticky rice. The service was very fast and interior was well designed. Food was all very delicious! Our favorite and top contenders were the khao soi and the garlic grispy catfish. The dishes were full of thai flavor and balanced well. I wish they gave a bit more rice than the small bowl for all the curry dishes, but that's just a small knock on the restaurant. I love that this place exists in SL! Been needing some more good thai in the city. Will be back!

Yelp
I had a great experience at Thai Town. Rome was our server and he was working solo. We didn't miss out on anything and he was very attentive even though he was spread between 4-5 tables. The food was delicious and the quantity well exceeded the price point. I'll definitely be back. Thanks for wonderful service, Rome!

Yelp
Came here to celebrate Father's Day. It was packed! Obviously a popular local spot. The food was delicious, very well seasoned and flavorful! The service was also good. The food came out quick and fresh. Would recommend this spot if you enjoy Thai food in the area. The spot was a smaller restaurant but definitely very family friendly!

Yelp
Delightfully delicious Thai spot in Sugarland... Thai Taste offers some traditional favorites as well as some surprisingly novel twists. Beef lamb was delicious with the house made chili crisp. Crab fried rice was full of lump crab meat. Khao soi was every bit what we wanted. And we ordered the pad Thai with the crispy noodle option, which we had never seen before, but gave an interestingly novel twist on the old pad Thai. Overall very happy with our meal.

Yelp
We came for father's day lunch, and it wasn't a long wait at all. The staff were super friendly and our server greeted us immediately. The place is also decorated nicely with modern interior and greenery! We got a bunch of dishes to try family style, but the ones that stood out most were the Garlic Crispy Catfish (CS.4) and the Thai Drunken Noodles (N3). The catfish was crispy on the outside and hot on the inside and full of flavor. I also enjoyed the drunken noodles over the pad thai and I loved that nothing was too oily or underwhelming. Everything tasted great and we finished all our dishes! I do think that the thai ice tea was just okay and nothing crazy. I'd definitely recommend coming checking this place out if you're in sugar land!
google avatar

Yelp
Tried while on the road and there were many people there for a Monday! They have an extensive menu and tried the chef special spicy catfish. Got the medium which was perfect because they go extra spicy here. Also have khao soi which I don't see all the time at other places. Great service and quick, I'm sure their Curries and noodles would be great too
google avatar

Yelp
We were debating between our usual go to Thai or try a new Thai place and it did not disappoint. Service was great, food was awesome. -Cream cheese golden bag (4/5) -Roti and Curry (5/5) -Papaya Salad (3/5) -Pad Se Ew (5/5) -Basil Fried Rice (5/5) -Panang Curry (4/5) Everything was cooked to perfection and very flavorful. Most place when you get less spice the flavoring isn't all there but not in this case. My only complaint was the papaya salad wasn't as flavorful.
google avatar

Leandro R.

Yelp
Food was fresh and delicious. Served was attentive and knowledgeable. The restaurant was clean. I will be back to try different dishes.

Yelp
Obsessed with this place! Best Thai food I've had in a while. So good that phone didn't eat first. We ordered the yellow curry with beef at Medium spice level. It was the perfect amount of spice! Wasn't a fan of the beef, stick to the chicken. Pineapple fried rice was SO good and packed with flavor. Spicy was verrrry spicey, we were downing some water. Pad Thai was also delicious. It's cozy, the service was great, I can't wait to visit again.
google avatar

Sunland C.

Yelp
Very cute place, but very loud though. Service was fast and polite. Food came out almost eerily fast. Had the pad see ew, crispy pad thai, and yellow curry. I think the theme that I picked up was heavy on flavor. Everything tasted great, but each dish was so salty, I could feel my blood pressure go up. The lemonade was extremely sweet. Not to say it was bad, because I liked it all, just filled me up pretty quick. They offered to adjust, but I was fine with it. I only regret getting the crispy pad thai because I like noodles way more than wonton strips.
google avatar

Kai Z.

Yelp
Best Thai food in town!! I come to Sugar Land every year for the oil conference, and this place is always a must-visit. The food is absolutely delicious--especially the pineapple fried rice!
google avatar

Vivian M.

Yelp
We had a great meal at Thai Town! We ordered the Pad See Ew with shrimp, basil stir fry Pad Ka Pow with beef, spicy crispy catfish, and Thai red curry chicken. All the dishes were flavorful and the service was excellent! ig: @whatsviveating
google avatar

Nikki R.

Yelp
Honestly, very overrated and not even top 5 Thai spots in Sugar Land. The food was all very mid, and the spice levels were all over the place and inconsistent. The chicken felt undercooked, they didn't clarify the difference between pad thai and crispy pad thai, and they brought the food out at different times. Didn't hate it, I just wouldn't go again.
google avatar

Sameet R.

Yelp
New Thai spot in sugar land. We had dinner here on Christmas Eve and service was efficient. We tried a bunch of different things and the basil stir fry with beef spicy, and basil fried rice were our favorites. The portions are generous on the dishes and can definitely be shared. The boat noodles were a little too sweet for our liking and gyoza can be skipped. We will try the other dumplings next time.
google avatar

Shayla P.

Yelp
This is a cute little place that is decorated very beautifully! The pad thai was great, and we also enjoyed the red curry and panang curry. The thai coffee was a bit too strong for my preference. Service was good.
google avatar

Sasha D.

Yelp
Wanted to really like it here as we were big fans of Silom station that occupied the space previously, but our experience fell a little flat. The staff was really nice and the Thai green tea was good. We got two orders of drunken noodles, one with shrimp and one with tofu. The noodles were a bit overcooked and oddly very sweet, definitely the sweetest version I've had of this dish. It was also lacking any savory/umami flavor component that I think could have nicely balance out the sweetness. Drunken noodles are usually one of my go to orders at a Thai place and I felt a bit disappointed with these
google avatar

Rachel E.

Yelp
We came here for a late weekday lunch and was welcomed with attentive service and some great food. I had to try their khao soi with chicken drumstick, as a good khao soi is hard to come by. After having the dish in Chiang Mai in Thailand, I've been looking for it here in Houston. This one comes very close and is also just at my spicy threshold (even with their mild). The pineapple fried rice has great presentation with it served in a cute pineapple, but it also is one of the top pineapple fried rices we've had. Just a nice balance of flavors. I'm definitely liking this place and want to come back and try more of their dishes!
google avatar

Rida Q.

Yelp
Very yummy good! Our waitress Chelsea was amazing :) highly recommend! Food is so delicious! Customer service was great too!
google avatar

Carla A.

Yelp
I am a sucker for some good Thai food and their Pad Kee Mao is very good! I really enjoyed it. This place is in the same spot that Silom was in and if you know me, you know Silom was my favorite place to be but the quality of their food and service had gone down. I am sure that this place has the same owners or something like that. I also want to mention that the server that we had was absolutely amazing!! He was nice, attentive and patient because since they are new, we had lots of questions. Also. . .the decorations that are in there are the same ones from the last restaurant. So while they are still new, it seems like they are still trying to get established. I'm pretty sure I'll be back soon.

Yelp
Strawberry lemonade - 8.5/10 - $3.49 - Refreshing, a mix of sweet and sour. Beef drunken noodles - 9/10 - $16.99 - Very flavorful and tasty. Beef was cooked well. Chicken red thai curry - 8.5/10 - $13.99 - Im not a fan of coconut curry but this was good. Chicken pepper and garlic - 10/10 - $13.99 - My favorite item that I tried. Loved all the flavors and loved how tender the chicken was. Thai fried rice - 9/10 - $13.99 - Very tasty, even just by itself lol. New halal thai spot in town has become one of my favorite thai spots! I loved how much flavor all the dishes had. We got medium spice for everything and it was perfect! The service is slow but worth the wait.

Lisa H.

Yelp
I went to this place because I saw a review & it looked promising. First off, it is self seating. The seating layout is not ideal for big parties past 4-ish people. I wish there was an area where you can grab the menus first and then seat yourself rather than wait for the seat to be available & then they give you the menu. When we went, the restaurant was packed and parties were very closely seated together which caused a small issue for us to have private conversations. FOOD RATING Roti & Curry: 4.5/5 Pad Thai with Shrimp: 4/5 Basil Fried Rice: 4/5 Can't wait to come back & try their boba bar & other things on the menu!
google avatar

Yelp
DELICIOUS is an understatement. We tried a few items & loved it. Clean cute quaint spot. Well worth it for the money.

Yelp
This place took over the former Silom Station. Service- they have wait staff now vs the former order at counter and they bring the food to you. Staff is attentive Ambiance- same as the previous Silom station since it still looks like them. May even the same owner? Food- nice flavor but overpriced. The appetizer sampler had pairs of 4 items for $23. Wasn't worth it but it was Instagram pretty. The seafood salad tasted great but $19 might be a tad bit high. The drunken noodles were good. I was going to order the sticky mango rice but I saw the portion size vs price and declined. 3 items $65 with tax Overall, it's decent but maybe not decent enough for me to return when there are so many other great Thai places within a 2 mile radius.
google avatar

Tracy N.

Yelp
My new fav Thai place in the Sugar Land area! Nice little restaurant. Decent size for large parties. Great service. I understand they are still trying to train new staff but everyone was very attentive. We ordered: Pad see ew chicken without carrots - flavor was good, some pieces of the noodles were a bit hard but overall good. Red curry with chicken - mild had a kick but also really good. Basil fried rice with chicken - moist rice with aromatic flavors from the basil and bell peppers. Papaya salad - this one felt like it was missing something. Somewhat on the bland side. Roti with curry sauce - I liked the curry because of the flavor and it wasn't soupy, it had a slightly thicker consistency which is nice. Cream cheese golden bag - super crispy wonton skin and filled with cream cheese and imitation crab meat. Sauce was a sweet and sour sauce.

Valerie G.

Yelp
My husband and I had lunch at ThaiTown in Sugar Land, located at 222 Hwy 6. The food is delicious.
google avatar

Nasiah R.

Yelp
I had the spring rolls, pad kee mao, and Tom kha. The spring rolls were pretty bland but not bad. The pad kee mao was really good. The Tom kha was also delicious but it was more watery / watered down tasting and less creamy than most tom khas I've had. There was a really ridiculous policy where the server refused to split our bill into 4 due to the credit card company charging a fee. I've never been to a restaurant where they refused to accommodate to a party dividing the bill especially given that the high prices should more than cover processing fees.
google avatar

Kristin J.

Yelp
I loved this place so much! The atmosphere, staff and food were all phenomenal. I thought the prices were reasonable as well. I will definitely be coming here many more times in the future. Highly recommend!
google avatar

Hassan G.

Yelp
Recently went to @thaitownsugarland and enjoyed it. great location and definitely love having another #halal Thai option in the area. we ordered the Chicken Satay, Tom Kum Soup, Tom Kha Soup, Pad Thai, Pepper Garlic, Thai Drunken Noodles and a Thai Ices Tea. Overall the food was delicious, loved the Satay with the peanut sauce, the Thai Drunken Noodles was my favorite item off the main course, very flavorful. Great food definitely will be back.
google avatar

Kareem H.

Yelp
Ami, Do better! Stop trying to nickel and dime your customers. Your staff is amazing but they appear to be treated like slaves. My waiter almost cried when you asked him to charge me an additional 30 cents. Don't charge people 18% Gratuity for a party of 2. or 30 cents for light ice like you did to me. This is extortion. Your staff works hard and so do we. You asked me not to return. A good restaurant asks for a second chance to correct the mistakes made. You don't deserve a second chance or my business. Do better!
google avatar

Andrew n.

Yelp
I had a great time dining at Thai Town in Sugar Land! The food was absolutely delicious fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. Every dish had that perfect balance of sweet, spicy, and savory that you hope for in Thai cuisine. What really made the experience stand out was the service. Our server, Hak, was incredibly friendly and attentive. He made great recommendations, checked in on us without being overbearing, and made sure we had everything we needed. You could tell he genuinely cared about making our meal enjoyable. If you're craving Thai food and want great service Thai Town is where to go make sure to ask for Hak for the best experience!
google avatar

Tariq S.

Yelp
The entrees and appetizers were all really good! Nice modern ambiance and good service but it was hardly busy at 2:30pm. Must try out especially with a larger group family style. Portions are not Texas sized though which was fine by us.

Sandy M.

Yelp
Came here around 3 and they have appetizers on happy hour! The service was great everyone was so nice and attentive. We got a Pad see ew and it was really good!
google avatar

Humairaa A.

Yelp
Solid pad Thai, disappeared quickly amongst the family. Wonton soup was good, the shrimp and chicken wontons by themselves would make a nice meal. Garlic catfish was good however there were bones in a few pieces. Fast service and the ambiance felt like we were transported to Thailand.

Daphne T.

Yelp
I ordered curries with extra meat via UberEats. The green curry with chicken and and extra $4 worth of squid has dismal amount of protein. There was little chicken and four small thin sliced rounds of a small squid (like a quarter size). Four so it is $1 per thin round slice. This restaurant started out with generous portions and good taste. Not any more. To add insult to injury - it's truly detrimental for a Thai place to served old rice. I will not be ordering again.
google avatar

Finijo F.

Yelp
I was in Sugar Land and stopped in for a late lunch. The food was good and the staff were great. I enjoyed the parade thai and the thom kha soup very much. The steamed shrimp dumplings did not do it for me, but the homemade mago ice-cream was delicious. There are lots of vegetarian options and I was told they can make almost any dish vegan upon request. The atmosphere is casual and the music was smooth R&B.
google avatar

Gloria M.

Yelp
My family ordered the Pad Ka Pow, Papaya Salad, Massaman curry, Lunch Special, and kids Chicken Fried Rice. It was a lot of food, our eyes were bigger than our stomachs! For a level 3 it has a nice warm heat but not unbearably spicy. The service was excellent. Waiters were attentive and kind. I would come back here if I lived in the Houston area, but unfortunately we are just visiting. If you're looking for good Thai food this is the place to be. (Nephew also gives 10/10 for interior and food. Definitely kid approved).
google avatar

Joyti K.

Yelp
The service was great, friendly wait staff, eager to help w your selection The place was beautiful! Well decorated w a modern touch Red curry was delicious!! Bursting w flavors

Vee H.

Yelp
Love this place! I think they have one of the best pad Thai's in the SL area. We go there often. Their Thai tea is delicious as well. We usually get their drunken noodles, chicken pad Thai, and Thai tea. Highly recommend.

Sanah A.

Yelp
Good food . I like their beef khawsey! Service can be a bit slow if the entire place is packed. I have been their multiple times
google avatar

StrEats F.

Yelp
This is LEGIT Thai food in Sugarland and competes with any Thai restaurant in Houston. I know- those are big shoes to fill in a city with so much diversity, but I stand by my words. 3rd time taking food home from there and every time the flavors really stand out. I have had the pad see eew, drunken noodles and yellow Thai curry. Highly recommended!

Aranza A.

Yelp
Omg this was better than I expected! Everything was extremely flavorful, delicious!!! It was seasoned SO WELL. We also ordered the coconut Shrimp, basil rice and when I say everything, I mean everything was worth it. The drinks also. The service was amazing as well. Honestly you won't regret it I give a 1000/10
google avatar

Sharon Y.

Yelp
We love Thai food and was in Thailand for Christmas so our standards may be higher. Best dish was the Thai red curry and the drunken beef noodle. Thai tea was also good. Pineapple fried rice was just ok, had more curry, cumin, or some spice in it that I'm not used to for this dish. Chicken wings were a bit over cooked for me as well as the coconut shrimp. Was excited about their fried whole fish but it came in battered fried pieces which was just meh. Food overall is just ok but not sure I would come back especially when there are quite a few Thai places around that we already love. The staff was friendly and the ambiance is cute so give it a try and see what you think.
google avatar

Darlene O.

Yelp
Learned of this restaurant from Instagram. Location is inconvenient for me but the food is REALLY good. I would return. I recommend their pad thai spicy. I got beef which was nice. Flavor is there, not too sweet and I got "spicy" level. I almost did Thai hot which I think would have been too hot for me and I love spicy food. I also recommend the spicy catfish fillet which is very light battered fried catfish mini fillets in a spicy sauce with green beans. The sauce isn't overbearing where the fish coating is soggy either. Served with your choice of rice. The roti canai was decent. They cut their roti in triangles. I prefer the roti pancake. The curry they serve it with is excellent. It is thin and watery but flavorful. Very small portion. No meat. Curry sauce only.

Yelp
We came in and there were patrons in front of us telling us that they had been waiting 45 minutes on their to-go orders and to consider going elsewhere! We asked the staff how long it would take, and she said 5-10 minutes for appetizers and 15 minutes for entrees. It seemed like they had been swamped because of Mother's Day (they were offering free dessert too so that could explain the rush). Overall, all my food was good! I really enjoyed the cheese rolls and the 2 main entrees we ordered (basil chicken and pad Thai). It did come out pretty fast! Ambiance was nice, very cute and modern interior. I think as they get more staff, they will definitely be able to run stuff more efficiently here!
