DELICIOUS! I stopped in for lunch as it was a quick walk from my hotel, and it had been recommended by the staff. I’m so happy I listened. I ordered the fresh garden rolls and the basil eggplant with chicken . THEY WERE SO GOOD! I really wanted a lot of veggies and had an odd craving for eggplant (so weird) and the food hit the spot! The flavors were bright and every bite was as good as the first. I was in and out in <45 minutes. It could have been quicker, but I was wildly indecisive about what I wanted. You get your food in about 10 after ordering. Portion sizes are pretty good, and there’s no lunch menu/pricing, but I will definitely be back!

we visited this place on 3/15/24 it was a short walk from out hotel. small quiet clean place. the server/hostess lady was very nice. she answered all our questions about ingredients in a couple dishes and made recommendations. service was very fast only a few mins between when 1 course was done until the next one arrived. the food was so flavorful and rich every bite was an explosion of flavor. probably one of the best asian noodle dishes ive ever had. i recommend the drunken noodles the spice level was perfect.

Google
This was an overall great Thai place with good food. I enjoyed the Pad Kee Mao (Drunken noodles). The appetizer that I got was the crispy tofu which was underwhelming for me as it needed large amounts of sauce to cover the oily taste of fried tofu. However the mango rice pudding was quite good. This is basically rice with coconut milk and mango. The mango could have been more ripe but overall it was good. The service was good. The restaurant was clean. The food came at a reasonable time. There were no unexpected things that occurred. I would recommend this place as they have a lot of good options and the service is pretty good. The prices could be seen beforehand. I wouldn't say it is cheap but it is an expected cost for a restaurant.

It is a truly one of DC’s hidden gems the food is amazing with good proportiona. it has a nice calm atmosphere with some of the best customer service in town. they are welcoming and very friendly. if you are feeling like having Thai food, you must try theirs.it is hands down one of the best!

Google
The pad thai is so good, I’ve had it twice already. I love puff tofu. The crispy banana with ice cream was also really good. Ran out of mango sticky rice cause mangoes are out of season or something. Totally get it, I’ve bitten into an unripe mango before, and it was very much not good 😊👍. The poor waitress was definitely overworked though so service was really slow. They should hire more staff. 🤪😚

Amazing staff! Every thing is clearly marked and Gluten free is prepared separate. We had the fried tofu, drunken noodles, basil fried rice, and Ka POW! Every thing was fantastic and tasty! I would highly recommend for celiac Thai food!!

June 2022, downgrading from 5 to 4 stars because the last meal I had here wasn't as good as previous visits. It really was a three-star meal, but I'll give him the benefit of a doubt here. The massaman beef just wasn't as good, and neither was the noodle dish. I'll still try to place one more time just in case. --+-++ We ordered via Uber eats. Got beef massaman, chicken drunken noodles, and chicken satays. The satays we're ok but the other two dishes were excellent. I've tried massaman in all three of the Thai restaurants that are very close to each other, and one competitor's masaman very good, but I like this one even better. Update 5/2022 went back and got chicken with eggplant, chicken satays, and pad Thai and their food is still very good. Update: 6/2022 went back for massaman curry and lad na and satays... Wasn't quite as good as my other visits but still decent. The potatoes in the curry had a weird mealy texture that they didn't before. We'll try it again.

I've ordered from Thaiphoon several times for take out but this is was my first time eating in. It was supposed to be a date but ended up being a solo dinner so i didn't think too much about how the waitress never checked in with me. She was waiting for a 2nd person to show up! After that though, she only took my order and then brought the check after i flagged her down 15minutes after I had stopped eating. The food, which i usually love was just okay. Steamed dumplings were perfect 👌curry chicken noodles were okay compared to other times I've had it and their crab packets were so greasy i only ate one. I also tried their Thai Tiger drink, but that was too sweet. I'll know I'll order takeout from them again but dining in was lackluster, so i don't think I'll be doing that again.

Kenyata F.

Yelp
I stuck to simple things as I saw someone complaining about something in their food and leaving as I entered. My experience was decent. The waitress nice. Quick service and hot food I ordered steam dumplings they were delicious... Ground chicken and veggies. I ordered ginger chicken as a meal. It too was equally delicious. They take the menus quickly so I couldn't capture them. The inside is basic and roomy with a comfortable vibe. You can either hang out with friends or have a lunch meeting. It's not exactly romantic and warm. They have drinks. I chose beer. It was cold. I enjoyed everything except the vibe. I would try another place since there are more Thai ispots nearby but I would return if near here again.

Yelp
I would say that one could easily miss this spot, but try it out--even for takeout. I have tried the pad see ew and the pad Thai--both delicious. I especially enjoyed the pad Thai, which they were able to make very spicy! Of course you can ask for mild, but I greatly appreciate the spice level they were able to offer. The vegetarian pad Thai was also filled with so many veggies and tofu: julienned carrots, bok choy, broccoli, and snow peas. Often you don't get such a variety of veggies in vegetarian dishes at other restaurants. I got the mango sticky rice to go, however, I don't think it travels well. Service is quick. The lighting in the restaurant is a little dark so it might be best for a quick lunch or take out. Portion sizes are good!

QueenAvius P.

Yelp
Tried this place on whim last night when my ramen spot was closing and it was delicious! The spring rolls were great and the chicken fried rice. Service was fast and accommodating even though they were closing in 20 minutes of me getting there. I did not feel rushed and they kept the music on until I left. I'm giving it three stars because I did tell them no tomatoes in my rice and they still put them in there and I wanted to use a yelp coupon but the manager said they don't accept them.

Yelp
Sometimes the random restaurants you pass by on your walk turn out to be some of the best ones unbelievably good. We liked the food we ordered, so we came two days in a row! I'll just get right to the food because you don't wanna miss this place if you like Thai food! LAD NA: My first time trying this because I've never seen it on a menu (at least I don't think I have). Fortunately, I had my friend with me and she was the one who ordered it. It's served in a thick gravy with soft and chewy wide rice noodles. There's a hint of smokiness that comes from slightly pan-frying the noodles for a bit. There's a few veggies and you can choose your protein. Second visit, we ordered extra veggies and it was the perfect amount. New favorite menu item! LARB GAI: Amazing flavor! Not too fishy or salty, it was just right. The ground chicken wasn't dry and had just the right amount of heat to it. Very impressed by this simple appetizer, wish they provided lettuce to wrap with though. TOM YUM: SO good! Piping hot with chicken, mushrooms, and the other necessary aromatics like galangal, lemongrass, makrut lime leaves, etc. The taste and seasoning was just perfect. It's one of my favorite tom yum soups out there. The prices were comparable to what I usually see at Thai restaurants so that's a plus. If I'm ever in the area, this is on the top of my list because I want to relive all these dishes again.

Cassandra S.

Yelp
Portion sizes are big and the service is honest. We went to order mango sticky rice after dinner and the waitress told us that the dish was available but the mangoes weren't totally in season yet so they were a bit sour. I really appreciated the transparency!

Ali T.

Yelp
Thaiphoon has a CUTE setup in Dupont - the restaurant itself is pretty small, with a beautiful bar at the front, a garage door that opens onto the street on nice days, and some nice wall decorations. The tables here are very close together. Don't expect a ton of privacy - I could hear the full conversations of the parties on either side of my table. Also, the food is about average for DC Thai, and the service was a bit rushed. Overall, this was an okay experience! I'm not sure I would go back.

Jennifer F.

Yelp
This was a cute place, food was great! We ordered Pad Thai, hot- it was a good hot, very flavorful. Server was awesome. Server was awesome, we never had to ask for a refill even once! Definitely recommend a visit here.

Thomas G.

Yelp
The freshness of this dish blew my mind! Roasted duck is one of my favorite things to eat but it can be over cooked but not in this salad! And in true Thai spirit, the vegetables were crispy and fresh. I went on a slower day and was the only table being served, so the service was prompt as one would hope for in that environment.

L P.

Yelp
I ordered delivery a couple of weeks ago and it was really tasty and well priced. So I decided to have dinner inside the restaurant. Immediately upon entering, my friends and I encountered a very strong chemical smell. We sat down, thinking it might be just the entry way. But the odor never went away and we didn't think we'd enjoy our food so we left. I'm giving 4 stars for the takeout experience with the hope they were just having an off night.

Kerry B.

Yelp
I had a very nice dinner with friends. They enjoyed the shrimp and salmon dish, and I had the Pad Thai. It was all very fresh, delicious and the service was good and fast.

Cheryl T.

Yelp
Average Thai food compared to what I'm used to. -Service pleasant and a bit inattentive -Entrees arrived as soon as we began eating appetizers (had to send them back) -Had to keep swatting flies away from our food -Had to ask for serving spoons (food came without) -Chicken satay didn't have the traditional peanut sauce (it was something else thin and watery), chicken dry without flavor -shrimp and crab pockets dry with no hint of crab -pineapple fried rice okay. A bit dry -crispy shrimp and string beans. Didn't expect the beans to also be battered and fried. -rice on side dry and hard I would not return with so many other options around.

Yelp
I sat at the bar and watched a cockroach run around my purse, that was on the bar. I was with a friend and we tried to relax about it, thinking the cockroach had moved on. But we were now wary and I could not finish my meal. Then a second cockroach raced across the bar by our plates and then started to eat a noodle on the bar that my friend had dropped. Gross. We called the staff over, showed them the cockroach, and then my friend killed it. The staff had no reaction to this situation at all, except to mutter "sorry". They know they have a problem with no reaction. I will be reporting this to the health department too. I had some wine still to drink, and I could use it after a couple of cockroaches joining us for dinner, so they moved us to another table. Nothing was taken off the bill, and nothing said as we closed out the bill. I did like Thaiphoon and took my friend there for the reason that the food was good. Now I am never going back. And you should think twice as well.

Yelp
Stopped in here for dinner and really enjoyed the food. We were quickly seated. There was only one waitress but she was quick and efficient and had good recommendations. Ordered the dumplings, hot sake, drunken noodles and honey duck. Dumplings came out quickly and were hot and the sauce was so good. Drunken noodles, ordered mild spice and it was so great. The spice level was good and it was so flavorful. Would absolutely order again. Honey duck was just ok, the honey was a little overwhelming but had a good taste. Prices were also reasonable. Overall enjoyed the dinner and would return.

Yelp
I enjoyed coming here for a Saturday night dinner. I had panang curry and my friend got musaman curry. Both were flavorful and good portion sizes! I also enjoyed a mojito which was not too sweet just the way I like it. The restaurant was fairly empty when we arrived around 6 but it very quickly filled up and we had a hard time catching our server to get our bill by the end of the meal because they were so busy. The outside of the building is a little unassuming but they have a lot of seating and are able to accommodate large groups as we saw a couple groups of about 10 people when we were there. If you're in the Dupont area and looking for Thai food but aren't in a hurry this will be a good place to check out.

Boobie D.

Yelp
their playlist is on point whatever station they are playing but the music is too lowncompared to the people talking in here. i sat at the bar alone && their takeout orders are boomin! i got the poh tak soup (which i personally enjoyed the spice) && i had the crab/shrimp packets which were good && hugw. for cocktails i had 1 off their menu called singapore sling && then i got a lemon drop martini made w gin. it made do. i only say that because sounded like there was a lot left in the shaker. only thing id ask is more pleasant smell. && it isnt the food

Tawnya R.

Yelp
We decided at the last minute we wanted to try. We arrived at 9pm and according to the website the kitchen closed at 9:45 so we were worried we would be rushed but that was not the case. The waitress was pleasant when we arrived and sat us right away. The menu had a nice variety of selections. The dumplings were amazing, I got the mixed vegetables with shrimp which were also delicious. The food came out quickly and was hot!!!! The ambiance was a bit to be desired but all in all the food and service made up for it.

Fluffy C.

Yelp
The restaurant has friendly staff and a nice interior. We went during a super dinner rush, so it took a while to get drink refills and check. Overall, the food was good and would go again (highly recommend the pad see ew and green curry, but skip the spring rolls since they are pretty ordinary). Price: On the higher end (coming from out of town), but still within reason for the quality that we got and location. Service: Could be better, but due to lack of staff it is enough. Food: Many of the entrees taste very authentic and spectacular (pad see ew and curry), but some items taste average (spring rolls and drunken noodles).

Renae T.

Yelp
I can here while on a business trip in DC. I popped in by myself during a break in my meetings. The place was clean and there were several tables, although the place is small. There was not a lot of staff but I was treated well and quickly served. The wine list is Fine, not huge but enough. I ordered the Tom Yum soup with Chicken, the Shrimp Packets and Spring Rolls. The Tom Yum soup was very flavorful but I agree with another post, it was not very hot, in temperature. The Summer Rills were good and the Shrimp Packets were also good. The Shrimp Packets are a shrimp with noodles wrapped in wonton wrappers and fried. No real flavor though. Overall good but nothing that stands out.

Zack B.

Yelp
I've been a big Thaiphoon fan since I first moved to DC, and their quality has never gone down! They have the best pad see eew in town. It's always piping hot and moist with deep flavors. Pad see eew is one of my favorite Thai dishes, and it can be hit or miss at some other spots around town. Thaiphoon's is always incredible. I also love their curries, and had the yellow curry with chicken last time I was there. Can't go wrong with the sweet and savory flavors of Thai curry; Thaiphoon hits it out of the park every time.

Brittany Anne O.

Yelp
We visited as a group of four on a Friday night. We were seated quickly and took a look at the drink menu. I was pleased to see that their cocktails were unique and affordable ($9.95!). I ordered the Thai Tiger and loved it. It was served in an adorable pineapple shaped glass with mint, lime, lemongrass and fresh chili. For the table we shared orders of Penang curry, drunken noodles and kaPow with beef. All of the food was flavorful and served as generous portions. The staff was friendly and quick! The ambiance inside was inviting and relaxed. Definitely a reliable place for Thai!

Haniyyah B.

Yelp
In terms of customer service, they served our appetizers without giving us plates, utensils, and napkins. We had to request water refills throughout our entire meal. We saw a rat run into the kitchen and a staff run after it. When we mentioned it to a staff member, they acted like they didn't know what we were talking about. We paid for our meal and departed immediately. If you're still interested after reading that, let me tell you about the food... The spring rolls were crispy but could've used more flavor. The drunken noodles were the perfect amount of spicy. I liked the bokchoy and broccoli addition which I rarely taste in other drunken noodles at other Thai places. The crispy banana had almonds, which was a surprise since it wasn't mentioned on the menu. All that to say food was good I guess but seeing the rat in the restaurant ruined the whole experience for me.

Gary T.

Yelp
The food was good but I was double charged for the meal. Numerous calls to the restaurant resulted in hang-ups and disconnects. When I finally got through, I was told they would take care of it. Well, they did not and both charges were posted to my Mastercard account. Very frustrating. I wonder how many other customers have been double charged in the past without knowing. Fortunately, my credit card company notifies me almost immediately when there has been a charge.

Yelp
Thaiphoon Restaurant was a late evening local choice after coming into DC that evening. The restaurant had only a few customers that evening. I was seated promptly, given a menu and followed by a glass of water. Perusing the menu, they had a nice variety of options. I settled on a dish of Panang Curry with Chicken (my standard go-to for evaluation of Thai restaurants). My curry was served in a bowl, and I was given a plate with a mound of white rice. The curry had a decent aroma of Panang, but lacked any sort of vegetable accompaniment that is typical (at least in my book) of most curries. The curry sauce was a pale brownish yellow that almost seemed a bit off, with sliced pieces of chicken that appeared to be well cooked. Ladled some of the curry over my rice and began to eat. Flavor was...okay. Not great, and not to a level that I prefer. The aromatics were definitely lacking. Water ran dry, and my waitress/hostess seemed more engaged in conversation with a customer (or friend?) at the bar than with me. I finished the dish, paid for my meal, and left. Not a great experience. Perhaps there are better items to choose on the menu, but Panang has always been my soft of "litmus test" when it comes to Thai food.

Adam T.

Yelp
Great noodles and spring rolls! Also their curries are delicious. This is a go-to spot in the area, and this location is convenient and the staff is very friendly!

Kris P.

Yelp
I was a regular at the Pentagon location many moons ago. My most favorite in no particular order are the panang, roasted duck, pad see ew, soft shell crab, and crispy eggplant. Flavor profiles are so savory and the depth of aroma is intense. Sticky rice with mango was always a treat to share when available in season and my usual gin & tonic was always strong. Specialty drinks or bartender's mix are fun (caution here). Service on any given day is prompt, attentive, and friendly. Parking in Dupont can be painful. Plan and time, one way off street availability nearby can be a jackpot. Otherwise, dont fret, it's next to a garage (corner of 20th and S).

Yelp
One of my favorite Thai spots in the city! There is something about this place that keeps me coming back again and again.....Oh! I know what it is....It's the food!! Thaiphoon, both the DC and VA location, is superb. My recent visit was a curb-side order which indisputably some of the best Thai food eats I've had in a while. My dish was the Green Curry w/ mixed vegtables. It was my first time trying a new dish and it was nothing short of DELICIOUS! I told them mild but I knew it would have a little kick to it and it did. Be prepared for a little bite to your food when you eat here. American hot is good enough for me. For those that really like it spicy, be sure to mention that you would like your dish 'Thai hot!'...I am sure your tongue and flavor buds will be on fire. The menu is expansive and they are very accommodating with cooking custom dishes to your liking. my favorit and go-to is: * PAD SEE EW w/ BEEF & SHRIMP -- (12.95). Wide rice noodle stir fried with garlic, chinese broccoli, egg + sweet soy sauce. Your choice of meats: chicken, beef, pork, or seafood. I get this dish just about every time I eat here. It is so good and the flavors are on point. This dish makes you want to jump into a pool of these noodles, roll around and the backstroke like you trying to win gold in the Olympics. LOL. It's seriously delicious and that good. The crisp veggies stir-fried together with tender beef and shrimp in a in a mild, slightly sweet, garlicy sauce is the perfect combination to set your taste buds off. 5 Stars alone! Another favorite, is the: * SPICY ROASTED DUCK SALAD -- (7.95). Shredded roasted duck, fresh ginger, scallions + celery on a bed of baby mixed greens tossed with a chili vinaigrette. This dish is out of this world! The complex flavors of papaya, ginger, greens and veggies....all tossed together in a chili-lime tamarind vinaigrette dressing is amazing! And, the tender roasted duck is the icing on the cake that seals the deal. You never can go wrong with this dish. The portion size is great too for sharing as a appetizer and eating as a main course. My mouth is watering just think about this salad plate while writing this review. HONORABLE MENTION: SPICY GOLDEN TILAPIA FILLET -- (15.95) Garlic, onion + bell pepper sauteed in chili basil sauce, over crispy coated tilapia + roasted cashews. A must try!! You could of just put me on stretcher and roll me out of there...because this dish was so good and of large portions too. There was enough for a doggie bag! :) In all, fantastic food, nice ambiance, indoor & outdoor seating, great selection & friendly staff.....what more do you need!? They have a cool drink menu and full, well stocked bar as well. But, for me, there's nothing like an iced-cold Singha to wash all that "spicy-fragrant-complex flavors of Thai Goodness" down!!

laz b.

Yelp
Delicious sauces. Had the eggplant basil and the Penang curry. Delivery was faster than expected!

Mj G.

Yelp
not even tryna be racist... it smelled like dog food. Service was good though but I only knew because I had to send a drink back.

Nihar T.

Yelp
Got the spring rolls, panang curry with tofu and pad thai with chicken. Panang curry was flavorful and spicy. All were good! If you want a decent go-to thai place, this is a good one :)

Lauren C.

Yelp
Best THAI in Crystal City! The outdoor seating is so nice, it creates such a nice atmosphere and makes the food even more enjoyable, does that make sense? The service is always prompt and helpful with new suggestions. The first time I came here, I ordered the Pad Thai just because I wanted to see how they made theirs. I personally liked it because it was a bit more on the saucey side rather than some other places like Neisha Thai in Tysons that make theirs a bit dry. The pad woon sen comes with a side of rice and was delicious as well, could never go wrong with either of these two dishes.

Brian D.

Yelp
Reading some of the poor reviews it's like people went to an entirely different restaurant. We were staying nearby at the Washington Hilton for a quick weekend trip and we were tired from a long day in the city with no set plan for dinner. We walked 2 blocks to Thaiphoon and decided to give it a try and we certainly were glad we did. One of the worst things for in-house dining during the pandemic has been the issues restaurants (even really great ones) have had with attracting and keeping good staff. This lack of staff in my mind has had a direct impact on not only the service provided but also other things like restaurant cleanliness, delivery, etc. I cannot say enough about the staff and restaurant we encountered around 6:30 PM ET on 03/05/2022. Everyone we encountered from the moment we were seated to our waiter, to other members we saw interacting with and cooking for patrons was simply outstanding. The chicken pad thai and green curry were delicious. The portions were really large, the price was extremely reasonable and the service was warm and friendly. Also want to mention the restaurant was extremely clean and inviting which as stated earlier is not often the case any longer in some places. I was so pleased by how clean and comfortable it was sitting in the restaurant I actually started scanning the floors, table bases, and out of view areas to see and they too were immaculately clean as well. The restaurant while modest and far from flashy gave off an air of one in which cleanliness and friendliness matter greatly to the management or owners or both and it showed.

Stefanie Y.

Yelp
I stopped in for a late dinner with friends on a Friday, and surprised at how quiet this restaurant was. To be fair, it's located in a quiet part of DC, halfway between Dupont Circle and Adams Morgan, but there were maybe only three other parties dining while we were there. And I think people are missing out! First off, the interior is well-decorated and spacious, and the dining area and bathrooms are clean. The service was friendly and non-intrusive, and our food arrived quickly. Two of us opted for pad thai, and the portions were so generous, I ate my fill and felt like I'd barely dented the pile of noodles before me. I will say my chicken was a bit overcooked, but the flavors were all there and the noodles were well-executed and not too greasy. Our other friend went with the basil fried rice, which was super tasty and topped with awesome fried basil leaf "chips", but that three pepper spicy rating was no joke! Most dishes are priced at $13.95, making check splitting a piece of cake, and I got two and a half meals out of my pad thai. We did see a lot of takeout action going on, so I don't think Thaiphoon is in any danger of disappearing, but if you're looking for a place to have tasty, well-priced food in a quiet, pleasant setting, I'd recommend stopping in at Thaiphoon.

Yelp
Review for take out only but solid 5/5. Food was ready within 20 min, generous portions, great quality. We got red curry, drunken noodles, tom kha and papaya salad. Loved every dish. Highly recommend

J S.

Yelp
The food here was excellent! We got dumplings and crab/shrimp packets as appetizers and they were so tasty and beautiful to boot! The apps were delicious but our entrees of drunken noodles with pork and seafood paradise were absolutely out of this world! Highly recommend!

Gerrie C.

Yelp
The food here and the Thai iced tea was fantastic. I had the Masaman curry. The beef serving was generous too. The service was warm and friendly too.

M D.

Yelp
Wonderful food, cocktails, service and ambiance. Highly recommend! The Tiger Thai cocktail might be my new favorite of all time. The heat from the chili was a delight and paired really well with the refreshing citrus, ginger, and other drink elements - not overpowering all. The basil eggplant was outstanding in flavor and was a very generous portion size. My husband really enjoyed his pork fried rice. Our server was prompt and friendly.

Kunal K.

Yelp
Ordered delivery - Panama curry and pad see ew. I was really disappointed. The meat is of decent quality, so that's a plus, but the Panang curry is completely flavorless - I mean completely. Barely registered on my tastebuds. Same for the pad see ew. Gravy was non existent. It's like they ran out of spices. Would not order again. If you're looking for delivery, iThai is a much better option.

Jessalynne H.

Yelp
Order the spring rolls - yum Had the Spicy drunken noodles with veggies, and vegan style. Fast service and friend my wait staff. Not super busy at lunch time.

Tricia R.

Yelp
Im sad that the flavor and quality has gone down thru the years. Its a great location and really good 10 years ago. But now, no way with all the other great options of Thai restaurants near by.

Areal F.

Yelp
Very low-key spot nice atmosphere and good staff. The food came out great as I am a huge fan of Thai foods. I ordered the red curry, one of my favorites, and it did not disappoint. Drink recommendations for this place would be a simple big Kuna beer.

Rafia R.

Yelp
My first Thai place since moving to DC. I am very satisfied. I ordered through DoorDash. I ordered chicken curry puffs (also known as Thai samosas) $6.50, fried rice with chicken $13.50, and a Thai iced tea $4.50. Everything was in the right portioning. The puffs were beautiful and yummy and the rice was great too. It needed a bit more spice for my liking so I added from chili pepper sauce from Trader Joe's and let me tell you, it really amplified the meal. Definitely recommend if you want more kick! The Thai iced tea was decent, the flavor was not as intense as I had hoped it would be. The price was also on the higher side, which is why I gave this a 4/5. Otherwise, great food with (mostly) reasonable prices. Would recommend!!

Pam C.

Yelp
Pad Thai was very good, pricey, but maybe its average for D.C. Steamed Dumplings were not what I was expecting, similar to shumai. Service was terrible. With only 3 tables, it should have at least been mediocre. Wouldnt visit again.

Julia R.

Yelp
The food was good, no complaints! The staff was kind and it was clean. I recommend the spring rolls as a appetizer (: and being vegetarian I thought the tofu fried rice was nicely cooked.

Mekdela T.

Yelp
Nothing NOT to like about this place. It's cute inside, service was great, and the fooooood freaking good, and not super expensive (AMENNNNNNNN). Also, the music they played (which was at a good volume) very good playlist! First of ALL, you gotta get the steamed dumplings. That little seafood mixture they got going on in there. ITS EVERYTHING. I almost asked for a full plate of them as my entree. Oh yeah, and don't forget to check in for 10% off appetizers. Entree...get the Basil fried rice with Seafood...so so good! Of course the seafood is 4 dollars extra, but I walked out with a to go box of the food, they give you so much. The spices were so good. My boyfriend got the spicy, and he really liked it, he said he could have even gotten it a little spicier. I'll definitely be back for the pad Thai and drunken noodles, I was scoping out other plates and I wasn't upset at all.

Yelp
There are flashes of brilliance in the food, but customer service is challenged. While being seated at my table for dinner this past Saturday, I noticed 2 employees asleep on some booths nearby. My waiter went over and gently shook his colleagues. One got up, but the second did not. Eventually this staffer awoke and left the dining room, then returned with a bowl and placed her cell phone on a china plate, as if it were food. She watched videos and consumed her soup until she had her fill. Frankly, I was stunned at this behavior. The best menu item I've had is their crab wontons. The mango salad is respectable. These are both appetizers. The entrees I've eaten--pad see eew in particular--have been poorly executed. I find that the dipping sauces are out of balance taste-wise. The soundtrack that plays is distracting. One evening I was treated to selections that came from the Grand Ole Opry. I've got nothing against country music--but in a Thai restaurant? Staff seem bored mostly. This disengagement is reflected both in the ambiance and in the cuisine that Thaiphoon offers.

Yelp
What a wonderful place!!! From walking in the door to leaving! My daughter chose this place because of its yelp reviews. We were not disappointed. We visited during the lunch hour...the service and food were great! They have a very good bar selection and specialty drinks. The food was nice portion sizes (I had to take some home). It is a must return too!!!

Yelp
Ordered Thaiphoon for delivery tonight. Have order from this before and proving itself to be a good stand by. Ordered via grub hub, was really easy, only $1 delivery feet and cheap taxes. Pad Thai chicken container was filled to the max and good texture and spice. Ka pow chicken was spicy and came sitting in extra sauce which came in handy when placed upon rice to keep it from getting dry. Spring rolls were crispy. Also, it took under 30 minutes to get to me which was a happy surprise how quickly they were able to deliver. Will definitly continue to order from Taiphoon and would recommend to other Thai food lovers.

Yelp
If you're staying at the Washington Hilton and you need to eat this place is conveniently located. The drinks are good and the food is delicious. The spicy food is actually spicy and I really appreciate it. They have so many options that you will easily be able to find something you like. Their staff is friendly and helpful. They made our experience very enjoyable. Next time I'm in DC, I'll be back.

Yelp
This place used to be my favorite Thai food in DC, and every time I go back I am even more disappointed. The food quality as far as taste and authenticity keeps dropping, and the service isn't that great anymore.
