"Co-owner Piya Cameron brought Middleburg a taste of her native Thailand in 2017. The follow-up to the original Lovettsville location is a top attraction for tom yum soup, chicken satay skewers, and spicy kimchi dumplings. Cocktails integrate lots of Thai ingredients like chili peppers, kaffir lime leaves, and lemongrass. Thaiverse will soon expand to D.C.’s tony Dupont Circle in the historic 1890s row house that formerly housed Darlington House. — T.P." - Tim Ebner, Kalina Newman

Run by a very friendly couple, Thaiverse serves authentic Thai food in the beautiful town of Middleburg. The food is great and will be appreciated by anyone who has been to Thailand and enjoys the cuisine. Amazing flavours, large potions and lots of outdoor seating in the large property. Plenty of car parking close by too.

Google
Outstanding first experience! We decided to stop by for a late lunch after great reviews from some locals at another nearby shop, and I'm so glad we listened! Food was very fresh, flavorful, and beautifully plated. We started with the Duck Pancake Rolls, and all I can say is wow! A very unique dish made with juicy and flavorful duck wrapped in fresh rice pancakes. SO good! The Pad Thai and Green Curry followed, which tend to be my Thai go-tos, and the certainly exceeded my expectations. Staff was very friendly and attentive, and ambiance is very laid back. Can't wait to go back, hopefully with warmer weather to enjoy their beautiful outdoor area.

Google
Fabulous restaurant and wonderful service. Quaint restaurant with amazing food, from appetizers to meals: loved the chicken Kra Praw, chicken satay, crispy shrimp, steak Pad Char. Total yummy

Google
Had lunch with a few friends today. We wanted some, very custom lized dishes and the chef made the extra effort of coming over, understanding our needs and ensuring that our food tasted exactly right. How many restaurants do THAT? Amazing. All of us loved the food. The service was excellent and had a wonderful time. Highly recommended.

HIDDEN THAI GEM Firstly, We came across the owner Piya. She welcomed us with a great smile and assured us of a great experience. The restaurant does give you a very intimate experience of a countryside restaurant. The service was a little slow; maybe that's because we sat on the patio. But, the Owner, Manager, and Staff were great in suggestions. The food was great, except for one or two items. And also served a free complimentary birthday dessert.

Google
Great Tom Yum chicken soup but don’t get it to-go. They put the soup in a cardboard-like bowl that gets soggy within an hour. You will not be able to place it in a microwave. I had to put my soup in a large soup cup. However, it tastes great

Google
We went for lunch and would love to go back for dinner. I hear you should have a reservation for dinner time. The service is great. It’s a small restaurant and the food is good. Their Tom Yum soup is the best I’ve ever had. The drunken noodles were good. The curry had a great flavor and was made with sweet potatoes. Highly recommend the dumplings as well. Served with a great sauce.

Google
I will start by saying that the place is a little over rated. Both quality and quantity of food servings does not live up to its pricing. We went for lunch around noon and ordered Crab Rangoon, Ginger Shrimp, Pad Thai with Shrimp and ended with the Sticky Toffee Pudding. (Menu claims it to be their famous sticky toffee pudding) The ambience was true to Middleburg for sure so that gets a plus. The food on the other hand was nothing extraordinary. There are much better tasting Thai restaurants all over northern VA. Two main disappointments on food were; 1. The sticky toffee pudding was not even close to how its supposed to be 2. I asked for the traditional Thai chili condiment and what i got was blend of ketchup and hot sauce.

Yelp
Welcoming and comfortable accommodations. Great food, service, and atmosphere. Easy parking too

Yelp
Not that impressed by this restaurant. Had reservations for 4 and arrived on time, actually a little early, only to find that they never reserved our table. We were seated out on a small porch, which was nice and secluded. Drinks and menu items were not available, and the remaining selection wasn't satisfying. If it was just the 2 of us, we would have left and looked elsewhere. I can't really recommend this place as there are just so many other places that take better care of their customers. No pictures and nothing really special.

Yelp
Hidden gem complete with a maze to get to the front door! I recommend Thaiverse, however, the last time we were there they had a staff shortage issue and service was dismal. We've been there several times and the food has always been pretty spot on! I've had the Pad Thai, which is how I measure any Thai restaurant, and it was pretty good. Of course the bar is exceptionally high when comparing to Pad Thai in Thailand, but they measured up very well. I know everyone else enjoyed their meals, including the kids! So two thumbs up on that!! As far as ambiance goes, it's set in a historic Middleburg house, which is pretty unique. Multiple rooms with various sized tables adorn the interior, and a decent sized patio with lots of tables. Bottom line, we like going back but if you have a party larger than 4, I would call ahead to make sure they can handle the capacity!

Yelp
Had dinner last night with my family. The food was good and we had crab fried rice, steamed dumplings and other dishes. However, the service was less than average. Upon entering no one greeted us though they saw us no one acknowledged us for at least 10 minutes. After finally being seated no one came to the table or acknowledged us again. Finally the gentleman that seated us brought waster and took our drink order. Eventually another woman stopped at her table however no one asked if we needed anything or just check on us. Finally I interrupted the hotel to order additional drinks. Finally they asked if we wanted dessert and when we said no thank you they whipped out the check but once again it took another 15 minutes for them to process. Lastly, no one asked if we enjoyed dinner etc they could have cared less. As sayid for was decent but service was pathetic.

Jade D.

Yelp
great food! friendly owner. cozy atmosphere. love the patio. I have been to Thaiverse several times, the food is really good. I really like their curry. I want to try their duck next time. A bit pricey though.

Donna F.

Yelp
The food was mediocre the service was also mediocre , after food was served server didn't return with requested condiments. Drinks were ok. Ambiance was nice we dined outside.

Jim G.

Yelp
2nd stop: This time for lunch. Just spectacular as usual. Nice place, nice ambience. Also: Service. It has been wonderful both times, and this is very important to us... maybe the most important. Quick and attentive. Tea: the wife loved this -- quite a selection too. Lastly, larb and beef salad. We will be back. I would suggest making reservations, they are popular. They are that good.

Gene H.

Yelp
THANK YOU Thaiverse for such an amazing dinner!! We had our wedding rehearsal dinner here and the people, atmosphere, and food were all incredible. Highly recommend this place for a nice dinner, family gathering, or event.

Atisha A.

Yelp
Great thai food in a cute town! They gave some unique additions to their menu along with all the classic Thai dishes that you would expect. I tried the goat cheese rolls and sticky toffee cake as appetizer and dessert, respectively and enjoyed both a lot. For my main entree I got drunken noodles with a Thai iced tea. The portions were large and the spice profile was great. The noodles and ingredients tasted fresh. Only reason why I am giving 4 stars is that they charge $4-$8 extra for any protein on noodles, rice etc which feels a bit much to me.

Marisa M.

Yelp
I wanted to give an update on the pricing because it's gotten a little out of hand over the years. Now Panang curry is $18 before a protein is added. When you order chicken as it is listed on the menu, it ends up being a $22 dish. My question is-- what comes with the $18, just the sauce? I'm not sure.. I've always loved the quality of the ingredients, but I've noticed that the rice portions have also shrunken. I would hope that for a $22 entree, enough rice would be provided without having to pay more yet again for additional rice. I always convince my husband to visit because I love the food, but there are still so many better priced options around even considering inflation of food ingredients. I'm sad to say that we won't be visiting as much :(

Angela H.

Yelp
We love this place, it's such a beautiful restaurant. We enjoyed every dish we had and the dessert wonderful. The staff is very friendly.

Donyiel C.

Yelp
So glad we stumbled upon this hidden gem! Some friends and I were on a day trip to Middleburg yesterday. Stopped in for lunch. We sat outside and although it was a warm day, it wasn't unbearable. I ordered my go to thai favorite, drunken noodle with chicken - extra spicy. They even brought me some extra pepper on the side. It was great! The service was excellent and I recommend this place. My only "issue" was the portion size - a bit small for the price!

Anne T.

Yelp
This place seems to have lost its way. My husband and I are locals and stopped in for dinner. 1. The service is casual and poor. 2. The prices have risen again with a new menu. We started with a cocktail each from their menu: Thai Mule and Mai Thai. Both were odd, we did not drink them. An app of pork dumplings followed, it looked like two different batches were used for one order. The fresh cilantro didn't hide that. My husband's Crab fried rice was fishy tasting...eating half was enough to give him a case of food illness that lasted the night.my eggplant dish was tasty but contained no eggplant at all. I asked for a spice tray and was told there is a 3.50 charge for seasonings. We paid and left agreeing that we are done with Thaiverse and that was before my husband began his illness.

Mark N.

Yelp
After stopping by at nearby Boxwood Winery for a drink we were hungry and put in an online order: Pork Steamed Dumplings - super tasty just a little too oily Octopus Dumplings - super tasty, but brought a little too much heat Massaman Curry with beef - the curry was perfect with lots of flavor, some spice, and creaminess. The beef was still tender. Green Curry with chicken - same as the massaman curry Malaysian Style Pancake - could have been crispier and had too much residual oil left on it. Food was ready on time and service was good. Prices were a little high compared with respect to portion size, but consistent with what we find throughout the Middleburg area. Overall the curries are the star here.

Yelp
Deliciousness - 3.5/5 Happiness - 5/5 This was our first time eating indoors during coronavirus and they made us feel safe and sound. Masks by the server, big gaps between tables (impressive given that it's a small interior) and online menus. I really enjoyed it. The food was good. I'm not a fan of Thai food, so fortunately they have a lot of other Asian options. I was able to enjoy a teriyaki chicken bowl that was absolutely top notch. The food is elevated with high end ingredients and beautiful plating. My wife (the Thai fan) got duck curry. She really enjoyed it as it's something she hasn't typically seen at Thai restaurants. Our favorite thing was easily the appetizer duck pancake (a thin pancake rolled around moist and tasty duck, veggies and sauce). Thaiverse definitely has plenty of unique options for the adventurous eater, with a focus on less known regional Thai cuisine. Although the food delivered a delicious meal, the drinks were disappointing. They had some impressive sounding cocktails, but the ones we tried were both too strong and too sweet for our liking (and we like a stiff drink). I'd much rather spend more money on the food than the drinks.

Brianna R.

Yelp
I asked if they can make the drunken noodles not spicy, and he said yes. They made it more than medium spicy and I was dieing! Our waiter felt bad. It was otherwise delicious so I told him that. I just asked for more rice to combat the spice. He did bring two scoops of rice. But they did not even offer a free dessert or anything at all to compensate!! I was overstuffed because I had to eat so much rice! Our curry dish came out well. Expected better service from such a restaurant! They just lost a regular customer!

Samita J.

Yelp
SO so so good. I was referred here by someone who lives in the area. We made a reservation and got to be seated immediately and outside. The food is so flavorful and delicious. The owner came around to talk to the regulars who are also the locals. I would definitely come back next time in the area.

John R.

Yelp
Very good, original food choices and very good drinks in a lovely albeit cozy venue. Amazing patio when it's nice and kudos to them for welcoming dogs with dishes and water.

Kamilia L.

Yelp
The owner is not Thai. I was very put off by the idea. Yes, I judged! I gazed around the restuarant unsure if the contents would be up to par with a "traditional" Thai restuarant. However, I was pleasantly surprised. In my opinion the food was really good. I especially loved the plating. We ordered a multitude of dishes. I however nestled in to my favorite which is Pad Kraw Pao (Thai Basil Chicken). The dish had the same complexity as I'm used to with an additional veggie of green beans, a friend ordered hers with pork and the other ordered the Garlic Beef. The rice comes on the side if your carb cautious which we appreciated but I love that each dish had an ample amount of sauce to go with the rice. The meat was moist and tender. I love spice so the spice try was very much appreciated and the homemade fish sauce was delicious l. We also decided to try the Prawns, Dumplings, and Duck pancake. I personally have never had the Duck Pancake before. I was unsure if I would like something so off putting as duck, veggies and sauce in a soft sushi style roll. It was absolutely delicious. The dumplings were cut shaped but not pan fried, I was not a fan of the sauce but the size and the amount of filling made up for the taste. We also indulged in Thai tea and a Thai Arnald Palmer which was delectable. All-in-all I would definitely come back. The food is good. I'm glad I didn't let my mind over rule my taste buds.

Cameron H.

Yelp
This place is awesome. The location and out door seating is breath taking! The service is also very attentive and friendly the waiter was funny too lol. The food was priced decently and was delicious so combine a breath taking location with good food and service what more can you ask for. In addition they use open table which is a plus!

Mary Sue C.

Yelp
Thaiverse is an excellent restaurant! Excellent food, service and atmosphere. The food is the star - so delicious. Please support this restaurant - it deservers to thrive not just survive. I come here with my Pup who is always welcomed on their patio with a bowl water - including ice during the summer. Did I mention the food is fantastic!

Barbara L.

Yelp
the food is delicious and the staff is friendly but the service is so bad it's comical. if you go, be in a chill mood and prep to draw on your patience.

Bob T.

Yelp
Delicious food, ample off street parking, and comfortable open air seating. We enjoyed sharing a meal on their deck. The crisp fall day was mitigated by the gas fire pits they had distributed among the socially distance tables. Among the five of us we had an assortment of appetizers, soups, main course, and (adult) beverages. Everything was properly spiced and tasty. My daughter even ordered a second helping of chicken satay. And thanks to her filling up on that and Tom Yum soup I was able to discover that her uneaten fries pair nicely with red curry. Next time we're back in Middleburg we'll be stopping here again.

Nana B.

Yelp
Thai food is known for its spices and flavours. We had Thai aubergine with 6 shrimp for $24. It tasted indescribably bland and insipid. Hello! This is Thai food, you don't pay $2 extra for more spices

Greg D.

Yelp
YES to this place: for many reasons: 1 - FOOD is GREAT 2 - STAFF super nice 3 - Plenty free safe, super close nearby Parking 4 - Indoor outdoor. 5 - Variety is impressive. Also, forgot something at the restaurant they retrieved and held it for me till I was to return the next day to retrieve it and I was happy to order take out from them this time as well

Amy L.

Yelp
Wow I was surprised that there was good asian food in Middleburg. This Thai food was moderately priced and quite delicious! We got the spring rolls, drunken noodles, ginger chicken, and some other chicken dish. All of it was delicious, but I honestly think a lot of Thai stir fries start to taste the same as you eat. So the two chicken dishes were good but I couldn't taste a difference. Spring roll was perfectly crunchy and not overly greasy. Btw all of this was on the lunch menu. FYI there is a lunch menu with cheaper prices on weekends!! The star of the meal was def the mango sticky rice. Wow I could eat this endlessly. Perf balance of sweetness and coconut.

Roberta G.

Yelp
Excellent wonton soup. The broth is rich. Shared the pan and curry with chicken and got and extra order of rice. Work out great for two.

Adam C.

Yelp
Good food and a nice restaurant, with a great outdoor space. Had the Ka prow and really enjoyed it, could of been a bit spicer. Only complaint, I feel it's a bit pricey. The entree prices shown don't include the cost of a protein, there's a line showing it's an extra cost. Felt that's misleading.

TJ V.

Yelp
Food was good but just very expensive for the small portions. They add extra charges for everything. 4 tiny crispy veggie spring rolls $8. Beef with rice dish (Kra Praw Chili Basil) was $24 ($16+$6 extra for beef and +$2 extra for egg), tofu fried rice (Kra Praw fried rice) $19 ($3 extra for tofu) and vegetable pad thai $16 (as is). Staff was friendly and it's a cute place but we ended up spending $90 with tip for the 3 of us (with only 1 drink).

Sarah S.

Yelp
I really like this place. The waiter was covering many tables (both inside and outside) and took a while to get us things, but otherwise, everything was delicious. We ate outside and there were firepits that they turned on and moved closer if you asked. They also had heaters, but for some reason, they didn't work. You access the menu through an app, but I imagine that they would give you a paper one if you asked. We liked the no-contact version, so it was fine. I had Tom Yum soup and Panag curry with shrimp. Both were excellent. I will definitely go back when I'm in town.

A.K. B.

Yelp
Authentic, delicious, fresh and friendly. We love the peaceful outdoor deck and take out.

Susan F.

Yelp
Really good cute spot in Middleburg. They have a deck with tables outside which would be super amazing in the summer. We went in the middle of winter so we sat inside. The food was really delicious but a little over priced for what it was. The panang curry was pretty good although I would have love a little heat with it. The nom tok that my husband ordered was also very good.

Ell A.

Yelp
In our visit to Middleburg, VA and Thaiverse restaurant We asked to be seated inside due to the sun and warm weather. The gentleman said we can't seat you inside with a dog. I have explained to him that my dog is a medical service dog and his answer was " we do not recognized service dogs". We left a restaurant and was able to go to another restaurant one block away. This experience was extremely hurtful for someone with invisible disabilities and PTSD history. My dog is a trained 7 pounds chihuahua and very well well behaved and my only help during a sever panic attack and PTSD. Service dogs are dogs trained to perform tasks for someone with a disability. They are highly behaved, quiet, and can act in the blink of an eye to save their handler's life. under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), it is illegal to discriminate against someone with a disability who needs their service dog by refusing entrance to a legitimate service dog team. When Can a Restaurant Kick Out a Service Dog? Even though it is illegal to deny access to a service dog without reason entirely, you still have rights as a business. First, the restaurant should ask every service dog team the two legally acceptable questions outlined by the ADA:  1. Is this dog a service dog that is task-trained to aid in your disability? 2. What tasks does this dog perform?  Any business that operates as a public service, such as hotels, restaurants, movie theaters, stores, malls, and parks, must allow entry to service dogs and their handlers. It may seem unfair at times, but it's actually more just.  If a person who can't walk isn't allowed to have their wheelchair, they won't be able to enter your restaurant and eat like someone without a wheelchair could do. If someone who needs oxygen was not given their oxygen tank while they ate. It's the same with a service dog. Service dogs should be thought of as medical equipment. Many tasks that they perform can save lives, and a disabled person should not have to worry about being without their medical equipment for a family meal. Service Dogs Require Identification: Wrong Service dogs do not have to carry identification. Some service dog teams will have an identification card from the program that provided the dog. However, since not every service dog comes from a program, this is not federally mandated in any way. Service Dogs Should Be a Certain Breed: Wrong Service dogs can be of any breed, size, color, or weight. You may see tiny chihuahuas that provide diabetic alert tasks. You may also see huge Great Dane service dogs that provide mobility tasks. Service Dogs Need to Wear a Vest or Identification: Wrong Although most teams wear a service dog vest, you cannot kick a dog out of your restaurant for simply not wearing identification. Some dogs work best when having a free range of movement. Some handlers also prefer not to spend money on costly equipment.

Yelp
We had a pretty disappointing experience at the Thaiverse. -food was meh. Take out level quality that you can get pretty much anywhere in NOVA. Not inedible, but nothing to write home about either. - appetizer took 30 min to arrive; almost one hour for main course. Don't come here on a Saturday night if you are starving - service was not great. Yes, the restaurant was busy, but that's not an excuse to wait 30 min for drinks to arrive. I had to get up and approach the server 3 times (!!!) to ask for drinks and check. - the server kept calling me "honey," not in a condescending way...but that's just not an appropriate way to address a customer in my opinion. We are very unlikely to ever return to Thaiverse.

Cate V.

Yelp
April 22, 2023: this place is over rated.. my wonton soup was tasteless. The main dish ginger very salty with too much soy sauce base instead a ginger sauce. Very fair portion size. Our bad experience was for the hidden charges in each dish. We paid $60 for 2 person (only entrees) $$$. I do not recommend them at all.

Daniel F.

Yelp
Now after about 10 years they are changing $2.00 for the Thai spice tray. The neighbors don't!

UUgeek R.

Yelp
Nice curry dishes. Tried all the duck dishes over many visits, all very good. Great spring rolls and soups. In general very mild spice and heat. Ask for medium hot or more if you like it more traditional.

Heather U.

Yelp
always an amazing visit. I recently started a vegan diet and there were plenty of meu items available for me. last night I had the drunked noodles with tofu, vegetable rolls, and something like 4 of the most amazing cucumber lychee martinis. I live in Middleburg and visit Thaiverse often. I also get delivery and carry out. always perfect.

Jo S.

Yelp
Sing on draft, off to a great start! Nice patio seating but to chilly to enjoy. Food was excellent... we will definitely come here again. We had the Tom kha GAi and the Tom yum soup and the satay chicken with the summer rolls. Great atmospheres to get away from DC

Mark W.

Yelp
Lovely outdoor patio setting with umbrella covered tables. Its chef sourced all of her recipes from her time cooking in Thailand, and her Scottish husband told marvelous stories of their international adventures. The Panang Curry with Tofu, U.S. hot spicing was marvelous. The Sticky Toffee Pudding with coconut ice cream, the only food offering from Scotland, was a triumph making the trip from Maryland a treasured experience. Balvenie 17 closed the meal with a fitting Scottish flourish.

Johonna D.

Yelp
Food is absolutely outstanding but marred by subpar service. Very very slow. We didn't see a server for 20 min to take our drink order. Sad.

Kelly D.

Yelp
We had dinner on the patio. Setting is lovely. Menu is full of the usual Thai dishes but with a few interesting additions. The food was very good, although the Thai basil chicken was a little salty, but overall great flavor. I would probably give the food 4 stars. Unfortunately the service was a ZERO. Really bad. It was Friday night and the restaurant was nearly full but there appeared to be plenty of people working. It took forever to be acknowledged and order. At least 30-40 min later before we saw any food. We had to ask for water over and over. And no one seemed to care too much. Would not go back.

VT P.

Yelp
I waited for 10-15 minutes before someone seated us to our table. We arrived at noon (well after they opened for the day), and there were already two tables seated before we came. Yet no one came to greet us even though the door chimed loudly our arrival - we had to call out and wave to the cooks at the back for someone to finally come out. I found the service lacking from the start. I had the pad char which advertised itself to be an eggplant dish but had less than one tiny eggplant (4/6 of a baby eggplant the size of large gumball). When we complained, the server did not seem to understand our issue. He told us he would let the chef know, that it was a new dish, he did not know if it should have more eggplant, even when we pointed out to him the description of the dish on the menu - "Southern Thai style stir-fried chili paste with onions, Thai eggplant, Chinese ginger (Finger root) hot pepper, kaffir lime leaves and Thai basil." We got basically ground chicken, a lot of onions and some green beans and red bell peppers (both were not even in the description of the dish and yet there were more green beans and red bell peppers than eggplant). If we ordered the dish without meat, we probably get pretty much only onions (!). Disappointing meal (in that I did not get what I ordered) and bad service (indifferent and slow).

Yelp
A great find in Middleburg - never expected to enjoy some great Thai food in this quiet town. We dropped in without reservations on a Wed night, and Ms. Jay seated us quickly on the outside patio on a lovely evening. The Pinot Noir and Cab options were modest, but well chosen and presented. We started with a delicious plate of pork dumplings - really excellent! My wife had the Massaman Curry and I chose the Drunken Chicken, with a side of stir fry veggies. These were nicely prepared and presented, subtle and flavorful and thoroughly enjoyable. We finished our meal with the sticky toffee and ice cream - a nicely balanced desert that perfectly avoided being too sweet. The staff was efficient and friendly, and we will definitely return! Thanks for a delicious dinner!

J E.

Yelp
While in there area doing vineyard visits, we made reservations and stopped in for dinner on a Sunday evening. The restaurant is in a beautiful, old building, like an older house that you would typically see in the Middleburg area. They have outdoor seating, a bar with bar seating and happy hour and several dining rooms throughout which are cozy and some have fireplaces to help keep you warm. The server we had was very nice, friendly and helpful with the menu. She answered any questions we had and offered suggestions as well. Their food is fresh, nicely prepared and very tasty. They offer all the typical Thai delights and seem to do a nice job with preparing them. Prices are reasonable and they even offer wine, which is also reasonably priced. We'll definitely be back!

L O.

Yelp
This place is delicious! We have been there several times and I can't believe it took us this long to discover it. The service is very good and the food is amazing. It is clear that this restaurant has earned its health rating! We love the summer rolls and during our most recent visit, we had the deep-fried brie bites, pork steamed dumplings, teriyaki salmon, Massaman curry, pad see eaw with crispy tofu, and the mandarin shrimp. Every single dish was outstanding - Fresh ingredients and very flavorful! We didn't have any leftovers, and people started eating so quickly that I couldn't even get pictures of all the dishes! If you want excellent Thai food, don't miss this place!

Yelp
Taxi lights in the Autumn rain Smiling at life But especially at you My mind lingers On a murky dance floor In Alexandria You danced By god Did you dance You set aside your irony I felt like I was watching something So vital, feminine, wild And triumphant- The perfect expression of a woman So please Never stop dancing Smiling in the rain is underrated Anyhow, I love this place, and the British manager has a soothing presence. Thaiverse is a monastery in a world of heathenism.

Cat P.

Yelp
When my DH said he found a Thai restaurant in Middleburg, I thought, "hmmmm Thai food in a touristy, tad uppity part of town. Probably mediocre." Boy was I surprised! Not only was the food much better than okay, but the service, ambiance, and value left nothing to be desired. And they offer lunch specials on weekends, too! So our lunch turned out to be quite affordable and would have been dirt cheap if I didn't get a mimosa. We ordered chicken drunken noodles, chicken pad thai, garlic chicken, fish cake, veggie egg rolls, and fried banana ice cream. The noodle dishes made my mom and me so happy because their sauces weren't too salty or too sweet, as can be the case with Thai restaurants in this area. The sauce clung to the noodles and neither dishes seemed overly saucy, like with a pool of sauce underneath (that is the worst!). We also were amazed how juicy and flavorful our chicken in each dish was. We all got chicken so our little guy could sample a little and he loved the variations. Our soft spoken and courteous server said the garlic chicken was his favorite and now I can totally see why. The name and description was deceptively simple for such a comforting, savory dish. The fish cake was well seasoned and peppery (probably too spicy for young diners) and the egg rolls were airy and not too greasy. Our shared dessert was equally strong in comparison to our savory dishes. The bananas weren't too heavily breaded and delightfully sweet with drizzles of honey. Recommend getting with coconut ice cream. Writing this review made me hungry! We obviously loved the food. We also loved this elegant, clean space. The restaurant is housed in what looks to be a historic home and makes use of the natural light. Ample parking, a lot dedicated to Thaiverse, also made our lives and other diners' lives easier. They have plentiful indoor and outdoor seating, so Thaiverse is a great spot for a nice meal yearround. I would totally take someone here for a celebratory lunch or dinner. The owners started in Lovettsville, expanded to Middleburg, and are opening a third location in a busy mall in Frederick, so business must be really good. I can see why! I can only speak of the Middleburg location, but if the other restaurants follow the same formula, then they all have a winning combo of delicious food, exemplary service, and enjoyable atmosphere. Sorry this review is so long, but I had a lot to say. In sum, Thaiverse prepares familiar Thai favorites very well and provides a four-star dining experience for a remarkably low price considering its location.
