The 38 Best Restaurants in Baltimore | Eater DC

"To find Thames Street Oyster House, head towards the water and cobblestoned streets of Fells Point. Inside is a raw bar with plenty of local oysters to choose from and a great take on Baltimore’s favorite drink, the orange crush. But the vibe tends to veer more towards New England, with dishes like Block Island scallops or the lobster roll on a warm, buttered bun. Generally expect to wait a while for a table (ask about seats on the back patio), but you can walk around a beautiful neighborhood while you bide your time." - Jess Mayhugh

Exceptional service with exceptional food. We tried all of the oysters, and that was a great experience tasting the subtle differences between them. The lobster tail, claws and u-12 shrimp were delicious. The mussels and fluke were great appetizers and the lobster salad was exceptional. Not cheap to eat like that, but this was a great experience for a special occasion.

Every time I'm in Baltimore, I come to Thames. I have not had a bad experience yet. All the dishes I've tried have been top tier. They have new specials every time I come. There are a few daily specials and check back often for updates to the raw bar. Staff are all friendly and knowledgeable, please make a reservation if you do not want to wait around for over an hour.

I’m lucky to get a table and it is also happy hour oysters… the calamari appetizer is yummy and in big portion! Service is great, but they do tend to ask you “is everything ok “ every 5 minutes..

My foodie companion was craving oysters, so we made an advance reservation to avoid having to wait for a table, as this Fells Point spot can get crowded on a sunny spring day. We were seated upstairs, and the service was friendly and attentive. We started with drinks – for me, an orange crush, and for him, a tall, cold Narragansett – a dozen mixed variety of oysters – the ability to select one or several of numerous varieties was a most welcomed treat – and a bunch of fresh shrimp with cocktail sauce fixings. The raw bar never disappoints – the large, plump crustaceans were delightfully chilled and tender. The oysters came out perfectly shucked and ready to pick up and slurp down – cravings satisfied. I chose the Friday special Bouillabaisse and was delighted with my selection. A most generous portion of homemade pasta was topped with assorted seafood in a savory sauce - my palate was quite pleased. Stuffed from his east coast oyster tour, my friend opted for the blue crab, short rib soup, and a more than generous portion of the beach fries. He noted the soup had a deep, rich flavor as his spoon danced around the bowl to savor the last bite. The fries proved to be a nice accompaniment to the meal. If you’re visiting Fells Point, make that reservation, don’t skip a raw bar treat, and enjoy one of old Baltimore’s treasures.

First time visiting Thames Street Oyster House with a friend, now I’m kicking myself for not discovering this gem sooner! Nestled on the waterfront in Baltimore’s iconic Fells Point neighborhood, Thames Street Oyster House delivers on all fronts—vintage tavern vibes, outstanding seafood, and genuine hospitality. We so wanted to dine on their outdoor patio but the weather didn’t allow. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warm smiles and welcoming atmosphere that set the tone right away. The interior channels cozy, historic tavern feels that fit perfectly with the maritime charm of the area. Bartender Maddie makes an awesome vodka gimlet plus recommended impeccably fresh oysters for us—each one tasting like it had just come out of the bay. The seafood selection overall is impressive, thoughtfully sourced, and expertly prepared. We’re already planning our next visit and scoping out the menu! Baltimore city is fortunate to have such culinary talent sitting alongside its harbor!

Took a trip family trip to Baltimore to go eat, I did some research and wanted to try their lobster roll. So that was the first spot we went to. There were 6 of us, we got there shortly after 11:30. The (taller) hostess told us we couldn't sit together because they had reservations. We thought they would put us at 2 tables at least close to each other, but they split us up and sat 3 people upstairs and 3 people downstairs which was disappointing. Once we got seated I noticed a lot of empty tables, there were tables for 2 and tables of 4 near us. So I asked again if we can be sat near each other. She was very rude saying they wouldn't event take tables of 6 without reservations and said we were lucky to even get in. What was more upsetting is these tables stayed empty for a long time and they kept seating tables of two at the four seater tables and all those two seater tables were empty. My Dad kept saying maybe it's because we're Asian. As far as the food, the lobster roll was great 10 out of 10, but the fries were soggy. We tried different oysters and it was alright. We got the seafood salad that was good, after adding more lime. My parents both got the crab cake dishes, it was big but mushy. My sister sat downstairs and asked the taller hostess if we could sit next to each other as well but she said they were busy and they weren't even 50% full. We had them put the check together, at that point we just wanted to eat and leave. It was the first restaurant we went to, and it was disappointing because they could've easily sat us together, but they chose not to. We spent the weekend in Baltimore and ate at many other restaurants that were better.

We stopped in at Thames Street Oyster House in Fells Point and had a really great experience. This is one of those classic Baltimore seafood spots that does oysters right. We ordered a selection of oysters, probably four different varieties. Prices ranged from around $2 to $4 per oyster, but they were all super fresh, perfectly shucked, and served ice-cold. If you’re an oyster lover, this place is a must. We also tried the Maryland Crab Soup which was hearty and full of flavor. It had that classic tomato base with a little spice, chunks of short rib, vegetables, and crab. It was really filling and felt like comfort food done well. The seafood salad was light, fresh, and a good contrast to the richer items. But the real surprise for me was the swordfish. It was cooked beautifully and served over a bed of tender potatoes with a runny egg on top. The whole dish was well thought out and nicely balanced, not something you see everywhere. Service was friendly and attentive without being overbearing. They know their seafood here and the staff is happy to walk you through the oyster options if you’re not sure what to get. The vibe inside is that classic East Coast oyster bar feel—warm, bustling, and casual but still feels like a treat. Prices are fair given the quality and freshness. You can definitely drop some money if you’re going all-in on oysters and drinks, but it felt worth it. Overall: 3.9/5 stars. If you’re in Baltimore and want to do seafood right—especially oysters—this place is a solid bet. Grab a seat at the bar if you can and watch them shuck your order right in front of you. Highly recommend it for locals and visitors alike

Google
Alright I was very skeptical when I tried the fried oyster appetizer as it was not that impressive. The crab cake however, truly made up for that! When I tell they do not skimp on the crab meat…that was the largest crab cake I’ve ever had. I was full after eating it and highly recommend it. Very flavorful. Worth every penny.

Yelp
Did you know Thames Street Oyster House was voted the top 100 Seafood spots in the U.S. in 2024?!? It is simply that good and you must check it out the next time you're in Baltimore. Thames Street Oyster House has been in the Fells Point neighborhood of Baltimore since 2011. I remember dining here back in 2016 when I lived in the area and I'm so happy to see that the restaurant still exceeds expectations to this day. So of course, when I spent a recent weekend in Baltimore I just had to stop by. The restaurant is situated on the main cobblestone road near the water and across from the Pendry Hotel. I love the homey/elevated vibe that the restaurant gives off. You can definitely come in more casual or a little dressed up and both will work. We sat at the bar during this recent visit because we just wanted oysters and a lobster roll to go. The bartender was super helpful and attentive to our needs despite also training a new employee. My lobster roll was filled with butter and I enjoyed every single bite. Unfortunately by the time I got to my fries they were a bit soggy and hard to enjoy. I would highly recommend eating at the restaurant instead of ordering to go if you can. Either way support a small local business especially one as phenomenal as Thames Street Oyster House!

Yelp
Great portions overall and everything was cooked to perfection! They had a diverse oyster selection and we ended up ordered 2 of 5 different kinds to try. We also ordered mussel appetizers, lobster roll and crab cake. Mussels were cooked in a sausage, corn, onion sauce that was extra flavorful with a hint of smokiness from the sausage with each bite. Loved how they included 2 toasted slices of bread, was great to dip and eat with the sauce. Lobster roll was bursting with fresh lobster encased in a buttered toast, could appreciate the quality from the natural flavor from the lobster and the side tub of melted butter was a great add-on. Highly recommend getting the refreshing cucumber side for the lobster roll. Crab cake itself was larger than the size of my fist and also beautifully seasoned, fully of fresh crab meat with no trace of shells. My only comment for the potato salad that came with the crab cake is that I wish it had more acidity with lemon, mustard or vinegar. It was very light and subtle which some might also prefer as it is. Dessert options looked good too but didn't have any room by the end. For drinks, we had the a fruit crush cocktail, a glass of beer and merlot. Would recommend getting reservation in advance otherwise you'll probably meet a wait time given how busy and popular they are. Took us an hour to get seated at bar for dinner for party of 2, would've been longer to wait for a table. Service was amazing even with how busy they were!

Yelp
Oysters as the best across the DMV - so fresh and a wide assortment! Get a collection of appetizers as your meal to experience the food variety. Ask for Bill as your server. He was so pleasant and friendly. We had a wonderful birthday dinner!

Yelp
I just have to check in every so often to say that this place is still 5 STARS!! I absolutely love it and live for the Saturday whole fish special, which is simply my pride and joy! The service is impeccable, every staff member goes out of their way to make the experience exactly what it should be. When I'm not at the bar, the dining room feels like you are having dinner in someone's dining room , and I just love that. The seasonal dessert options are also such a nice touch, but I have a hard time saving room when that fish special is involved. But dropping in for dessert on a random weeknight is always a good idea.

Yelp
I came here for the acclaimed crab cake. There was one seat left at the bar that I was able to grab since I couldn't make reservations for one. It took over half an hour to come, certainly busy even on a Sunday night. The crab cake itself was good although I don't know that it's such a step above other crab cakes in the city. I thought that the potato and Zucchini sides were both on the Bland side which I think made sense to contrast with the crab cake but wished they both had more flavor. I also had some oysters, and they were both on the mild side consistent with the description.

Yelp
We had an amazing Maine lobster roll at Thames Street Ouster House! The service was great and the ambiance was nice. The restaurant wasn't too loud, allowing for good conversation.

Yelp
Thames is a must try!!!!! I had dinner there last night, and it was amazing. They were very busy with a wait list, but a spot opened at the bar right when I got there. The service was excellent. They were out of the oysters I wanted, but the bar tender gave an excellent recommendation. They were very fresh and delicious. I also ordered the seafood salad...amazing!!!! It was a large portion of various chopped seafood with a very flavorful dressing. I'd kinda like to go back today and order the same thing. Lol! It was a perfect dining experience!

Yelp
Thursday 3/14/2024 I went back 2 back years for my birthdays but is this spot still a 5/5? Yes, BUT some things have changed that I want to mention AND the first experience can never be topped. The service is still great and on point. The food is still really good but nearly everything has gotten a price increase (except for the crab cake) when compared to last years visit. The lobster roll went up $5, the burger went up $2, and the bread pudding went up $2. Now let's talk about the food. - New England lobster roll * This is still the best lobster roll I've had. - Cast iron crab cake * this dish is still great plus the asparagus & sweet potatoes are ALWAYS a great addition. - Thames street burger * the only downgrade is the burger, it's still good but I can't say it's one of the best burgers I've had anymore. * also the fries were decent but not as good as last year - Dulce de leche bread pudding * the bread pudding was very good and it was even better than the first time I had it last year. In short, this is still a GREAT restaurant that I might have to revisit AGAIN for next years birthday.

Yelp
My first time trying, but hope to be back many many times! I came here with my family for an early lunch. Knowing how popular the place is, I was lucky to snag a reservation for us at 11:30am, which is right when the place opens. We arrived pretty early and had about 10-15 minutes before we could even go inside, and I was surprised to see people forming a line in front of the door. We joined the others in line and were quickly seated once let inside. Not only are they popular, but the restaurant itself is really quite small, so I highly suggest making a reservation. Even right at their opening, they filled up pretty quickly. My order was the lobster roll - I figured it was a quintessential menu item, so I had to go for it. People definitely love it for a reason. It was stuffed well, and the bun was so soft and warm. I also got fries on the side, and they had a great flavor. They give you a homemade ketchup with their fries, and I was really pleasantly surprised by it. I do not like ketchup AT ALL, and I actually really enjoyed their version. I had a few bites of my family's choices as well, and I was impressed with everything. My favorite was probably the calamari. It was nice and crispy and came with these hot peppers in the bottom of the dish that added a nice brightness and some heat. I will say the seafood salad wasn't what we were expecting, but I thought it looked and tasted really nice. I knew how iconic this restaurant is, and I'm glad I finally got to try it for myself. I hope to have that lobster roll again soon.

Yelp
Thames Street Oyster House is a must try in Baltimore! Their seafood is so fresh and it's located in a cute area by the water in Fells Point too. Pro tip - if you have a small enough party, make a reservation. This place is a local favorite and can be very busy when the weather is nice! Overall, the seafood was so fresh and dessert was truly stellar. Here is what we ordered and ratings: - Gin cocktail w/ elderflower & grapefruit juice (6/10) - Seafood salad (7/10) - Fried calamari (9/10) - Fish and chips (9/10) - Crab cake in skillet w/ asparagus & sweet potatoes (9/10) - Bread pudding (10/10) Sadly, the service was a bit disappointing this time around, but we all have bad days. If you're seated inside, it can get loud and the tables are close together - neither of those things bothered me but worth noting. I've sat outside in the back courtyard before and that was beautiful. Overall, I would always suggest this place for everyone to try at least once!

Yelp
I have been to Thames few times and I'm happy to say that the quality is always incredible. Reservations encouraged though, it can get busy even on a Monday evening! The service is polite and the restaurant is really clean, with views to the port. I went around 20 min before my reservation and they allowed us to seat by the bar and grab a drink but it was not possible to sit us at the table until the arranged time. I had the Spring Sangria which was tasty, with fruity touches. We started with some OYSTERS, we had the Rappahannock, Cape May Salts and the Assateague Salts which, as always, were really fresh. Then we had the GRILLED PORTUGUESE ROCK OCTOPUS, which comes with a delicious salsa verde and pisto. I was surprised that the LOBSTER ROLL was $38!! but the lobster was so fresh and tasty, including including tail and claw meat in a toasted bun which holds everything perfectly. It comes with roaster whole carrots with are perfectly tender. You probably will need to order more if you are hungry. Still, one of my favourite restaurants in Baltimore ESPAÑOL: He ido varias veces a Thames y puedo decir que es la calidad siempre es increíble.

Yelp
Thames Street Oyster House is always a solid choice. Whether it be for taking out of town guests for a dinner here or doing a date night, it's always delicious and really really good. Highly recommend making reservations - it's always busy. I normally always get the lobster roll. It comes with your choice of fries, maple sweet potatoes, or confit carrots. I've had all 3, and you can't go wrong. The carrots are amazing. They're buttery and complements the sweetness. The lobster roll is fantastic. It has a good amount of lobster in it too. The appetizers are delicious. The calamari is fried perfectly and seasoned well. Pretty decent sized portion too. This time, we also had the shrimp ceviche, and it was delicious (although a little small). Their waitstaff is always super nice, too! Our water glasses never went half empty. Parking in the area is generally pretty hard. But the food is worth it!

Yelp
Yelp Fam This review is a long time coming, as this is one of my favorite food spots in Baltimore. I've had some amazing Drinks and Meals here. The Staff & Service are Top Notch. We always get taken care of when we dine at TSOH. The ambiance is nice, lots of different types of people & a good atmosphere. Drinks- you can't go wrong overall, they have rotating drink specials, some recent favorites -Old fashioned -Daiquiri -Pineapple Mai Tai -Mojito Food I would Reccommend - Oysters- check out the raw bar card for the fresh options , including crab claws! -Ceviche- they usually have a rotating ceviche and sometimes house special ceviche. -Fish and Chips!- This is a staple dish, generous portion fried to perfection. Get the Tartar sauce! -Lobster Roll- buttery, fresh & tasty -Shrimp Roll- generous portion, tasty -Cast Iron Crab-cake - This was a huge perfectly seared crab-cake that I'm truly in love with. -Homemade Ice Cream- amazing, rotating flavors.

Yelp
The experience here was amazing! It's a small quaint , intimate restaurant. I highly recommend booking a reservation. Also, get there early because it's hard to find parking. I had to pay for the parking in front of the restaurant, but it wasn't much maybe $3-5. There's bar seating that serves you the full menu, first come first serve. The service was great! Everyone was extremely friendly and accommodating. You can tell the bartenders and chefs put their entire hearts into making the drinks/meals. All ingredients tastes fresh and amazing. The food: Cast Iron crab cake 10/10 Lobster Roll 10/10 Crab and short rib soup 7/10 The cast iron crab cake was my favorite out of everything we ordered. I would highly recommend it. The crab was cooked to perfection. All the flavors of the potatoes and the squash (small white dish on the left) paired well together. Not sure how they made squash taste like a delicious sweet potatoes pie but it was amazinggggg. I would order that again in a hear beat. The soup was only alright. I personally thought the flavors were good, but it tasted like a regular minestrone soup. You could hardly taste/ get any crab or short rib. It was mostly tomato based with veggies. I'm not a lobster roll kinda gal, but this lobster roll makes me believe I've just ordered from the wrong places. The lobster was literally cooked perfectly! It wasn't too tough. The flavors were delicious. They gave an extra butter sauce to dip it into. It didn't taste like the ocean, which I hate because it tells me they didn't prepare the seafood properly. But these folks have their seafood down packed! Overall, this spot is a must. I highly highly recommend. Even if you're passing through the inner harbor, try to stop in. You won't regret it!

Yelp
We had an excellent meal at Thames Street. We sat on the 2nd level and ended up with the harbor view right by our window which was perfect for our vacation. We started with the shrimp cocktail. These were massive and sweet. They gave us all the sauces including horseradish, cocktail, green hot sauce, & horseradish cream. I had the lobster roll which was heavenly and they gave me a side of butter. The bread itself was a perfect texture and I highly recommend it if you enjoy lobster. My husband had the hake which he throughly enjoyed. We also got the grilled zucchini side with tzatziki which was massive. Our server was excellent. Helpful but not intrusive.

Yelp
Service is top notch here. Employees definitely bring their own authentic flair to service which was refreshing. You can tell the employees are committed to the business and the patrons. Food is wonderful. Everything was cooked perfectly and served at a good pace. We had a variety of options from the raw bar, the crab cake (light and awesome, like no crab cake I've eaten before), and the scallops. The only, albeit significant, downside here is the noise. The restaurant is in desperate need of acoustic tiling or something to keep the noise down. On the second floor, the noise is bad enough that it physically hurts your ears during peak dinner time. IMO, this is the only thing about our total experience that wasn't perfect - and it's significant enough for us to not go back. The meal was awesome and the staff were an absolute pleasure. Try it if you're tolerant of loud venues and you will not be disappointed.

Yelp
No way was I going to leave Meyerland without having seafood. I'm a huge seafood lover and I was super excited about having raw oysters. I found this place highly rated on Yelp and Google and decided to give it a try. First the restaurant is located in a beautiful area near a pier and the vibes are very waterfront so I knew the seafood was going to be delicious. I was alone so I was able to get a table at the bar without a reservation. It is a small place and extremely busy so I highly recommend making a reservation. The bar service was great but it definitely improved when the second bartender arrived as it was busy and only one person behind the bar when I arrived. I was handed a few menus to include a raw bar menu and you are able to pick from a wide verity of oysters offered. I loved all of my raw bar choices! My favorite was Summer Love, I love a salty oyster! Lastly the lobster roll was incredible. I'm very sad I don't live here because I want to eat oysters every day! Highly recommend! Once you finish eating take a walk around the area it's amazing

Yelp
This was my first meal in Baltimore, and what an incredible experience it was. It was so delicious that I came back a couple of times during my short stay. The oysters are fresh, and you are given a menu of the current selection; which changes constantly due to availability; that gives you the flavor profile, size, and origin of each. The crabcake was delicate but filling,, and was accompanied by roasted potatoes and a ramekin of baked squash amazingness (which I could have eaten for dessert, alá mode. The staff, service, and ambiance were welcoming and friendly. I ate downstairs, but I prefer being in the middle of everything Believe the reviews and make a point to go to Fell's Point and eat at Thames Street Oyster House.

Yelp
Thame Street Oyster House is a staple in Fells Point. Right across the Pendry Hotel and on the cobble streets on Thames Street. This was the very very first restaurant I ate at when I moved here in 2018, and their lobster rolls are the best I've ever had. My friends who have had more lobster rolls than me and hail from Maine agree. They are warm and buttery and their fries are crack. Their housemade ketchup is fabulous, and I'm usually very happy with Heinz. Thames is always a place I recommend and take out of town guests to. Their reservations are always taken, but when the weather is nice it's easier to get in as they have a cutie courtyard. The bar seating also has a separate waitlist. I've sat more at the bar than the upstairs. I've been here probably more times than I can count. Amazing selection of oysters as their namesake -- you do have to ask for the accompaniments you want with your oysters. They also have a great wine list. Thames used to do take out during the pandemic, and sometimes they will do it if they're not swamped. I love that they have pickled herring here, so try that if you're a fan from the raw bar. I always learn something new about food when I come here. If I ever have to leave Baltimore, it will likely be my last meal here, and it was my very first. A special solid place in the city. Parking is a nightmare here -- I would try to park in Caroline Garage and do the short walk, or just uber. I am lucky to be able to walk here.

Yelp
Let me just start off with saying, "I just had the tastiest lobster roll in my life," and I've had quite a few of them!! First off, the staff was accommodating to our party of 5 with no reservation. We got there around 4:30 and were able to split up and be seated. My friend raved about this place and I was able to experience why. This is an intimate space with some seating upstairs. Very comforting and fun atmosphere. We started with drinks because they don't put in food orders until 5. I enjoyed the spaghetti western for a stronger drink. Solid pour and decent price. So fun getting to pick the oysters based on state and saltiness. The lobster roll with sweet potatoes (you could also get fries) and butter was phenomenal and such a great value for the amount of lobster in it! I loved the brioche bread! Coffee cake was also delicious. Service was A+ from everyone, especially our waitress Beth! Our food and drinks came pretty quick considering the busy evening. Our waitress always checked in and other staff were quick to clean up any dirty plates or give us new ones. A must-go in Baltimore for seafood!!

Yelp
This is my favorite restaurant in Baltimore. It literally has never disappointed. They have a huge selection of oysters and you can order a la Carte, so you aren't stuck with six of one type. They also have probably the best lobster roll I've ever had (and I've had a lot of lobster rolls). It's the kind with butter & the roll is amazing. I rarely get past that on the menu, but the few times I have, every entree has been one of the best things I've eaten. The place is small so make reservations. Parking is annoying because it's Fells, but usually can find a space a few blocks up. Excellent wait staff, excellent bartenders, excellent chef, great desserts, interesting cocktails. Never a bad choice.

Yelp
I was highly recommended Thames Street Oyster House and let me tell you, they were on point with this rec! The service was phenomenal and it was the perfect quaint, yet romantic setting. The chef is absolutely amazing and the bartender made me the perfect drink to pair with my meals! I came here on a solo date while in town and the hostess was so sweet finding me a spot at the bar as it was packed inside and I didn't make a resy. The location is also amazing, parking can be a little hard to find but totally worth it! Do yourself a favor and eat here!

Yelp
Server Kathryn was excellent. She is very knowledgeable about the menu and how things are prepared. The food was out of this world. An amazing spot not to miss in Baltimore's Fells Point! Ask for Kathryn to make your visit the best!

Yelp
It's been years but I finally made it back and this place hasn't lost a step. Literally everything is amazing. First, shout out to Theresa who is the best waitress ever. Knows the food inside and out, super energetic and helpful, she's a star. The cocktails were amazing. I had the mezcal one and the maple old fashioned. Both fabulous. The oysters are the best in town. Period. So good. We also had the beet salad, fried oysters, duck ragu and scallop ceviche. All fantastic but if I could only choose one it would be the ceviche or the oysters with the ragu a close second. Main dishes were the lobster polenta. Absurdly rich and delicious. The lobster roll, remains the best ever. And the stuffed hake and burger were also very good. Desserts were all good but the pear tart special was the best! You just can't go wrong here. Can't wait to come back!

Yelp
A friend and I ate here on Saturday afternoon. The place was busy so make sure you get a reservation. Even though it was only two of us we had to wait 20 minutes for a table. They have plenty of seating but they are that popular. They have a great oyster selection which we started off with followed by a lobster roll. It was delicious. A nice surprise was their homemade ketchup and I don't usually have ketchup. It had a little spicy kick which I loved. The service was top notch and the prices were more than fair for what you get.

Yelp
9.19.23 I tried to make reservations for four indoors, but only patio seating was available. It's been several years since hubby and I have been back. My sister-in-law and her partner were in town and we persuaded them to come here for lobster rolls instead of crab cakes. They were good sports and obliged. Our server was knowledgeable and new the menu and specials very well. We started off by ordering four Orange Crushes. My brother introduced my SIL and her partner to it when they last visited MD and now they are hooked. Our server recommended the butternut squash with crab imperial as our app. It was amazing. Highly recommend. We each got the Lobster Rolls with fries, however, SIL's partner got cucumber salad for his side. For dessert, we surprised my hubby with the Chocolate Mousse Pie for his bday and SIL ordered the Orange Creme Brûlée. The mousse itself was good, but the pie crust was too hard for my liking. The restaurant has received recognition which adorned the walls near the restroom, but nothing in recent years. Still my husband and my favorite restaurant to get lobster rolls. Downside of the restaurant is finding parking in Fells Point can be challenging and so is walking on cobblestone so dress accordingly.

Yelp
Well done. People and food are the star. Sat at the bar, bartenders were well informed, efficient, and definitive; great guides through the food, wine and beer. The crew worked together well without tension, but were efficient with the their purpose. The place is quaint and the ambiance is bustling. Great raw bar, paired with wine and the rockfish dish had great complexity while not taking away from the richness of the fish. Pasta and vegetable ragu had great texture. Portions were appropriate and did not walk out feeling full or empty. Overall a great experience.

Yelp
My husband & I love Thames Street so brought my in laws last night for dinner. We had an incredible experience. Oysters were amazing. The lobster roll never disappoints & my husband loved the monkfish. (Didn't take a picture) If you have family or friends in town this is the perfect place to bring them. It's located in Fells Point & a great seafood spot. We made reservations & got there earlier than planned. The hosts were so sweet & sat us early. Our waitress was also phenomenal. 10/10 service every time we go!

Yelp
This place is a five. First thing my wife ordered was the summer of '49. She took one sip and was like this is delicious. When the waitress tried to take her first glass and ask if she wanted another she had to quick slurp up every last drop before getting another. It's only ice left honey. Normally she's like Shania Twain and nothing impresses her that much, so this is saying something. We got the LOCAL TOMATO & GREEN ONION whipped ricotta, basil, red wine vinaigrette to start. Man, I can't even explain how good it was. It was so delicious. The fun didn't stop there. I got the short rib crab soup... pretty filling for a soup. It was just so good. For her meal she got the cast iron crab cake. I tried a bite and it was the realest crab I've ever had. I don't know how to explain it. It just was so fresh and meaty. Then came the lobster roll. With fries that are drowned in old bay like other places do. Just enough to let you know you're in MD. Also they make their own ketchup and it is awesome. Not too loud like all the other places along that Main Street. Nice light jazz. Waitress was super nice. Later in the night I was using a tooth pick because some of that lobster was still stuck in my teeth hours later. When I got it out it tasted like seawater. That was disgusting but made me feel like wow that's authentic.

Yelp
I've been looking forward to coming back here since it had been a while. I finally did over the weekend with a friend and we made sure we got there shortly after they opened as they usually get full with reservations and some walk ins. It was nice out so we sat outside. Our server greeted us and gave us some waters. We decided to order the Americano oyster shooters and one of their Ceviche specials of the day. Ceviche was really good and had a nice kick with the hot red peppers. I've never had an oyster shooter before but it was ok. I had been craving a lobster roll lately so that is what I went with. The bread was toasted nicely and there were plenty of buttered lobster meat - so good! I tried a bite of my friend's shrimp salad roll which was quite tasty as well. Overall, Thames Street Oyster House is a great seafood restaurant with friendly staff. I'm glad I finally came back here again!

Yelp
Food: Consider your life changed after one bite of of this New England Lobster Roll. Hot tail, claw and knuckle on a buttered, split top bun. Finished it off with the Dulce De Leche bread budding. Feast your eyes on sweet caramel and HOUSE MADE whipped cream. Service and Ambiance: It's a small spot but I was able to get in at 6pm on a weekday with no problem. Host was kind, waitress was cheery. It was an overall great experience, and the best lobster roll I've ever had.

Yelp
Great time. Food was excellent; the raw bar shines with a huge selection of oysters rotated often (we tried all 11). Best lobster roll my partner ever had and my whole fish was crispy and delicious although hard to eat. Note would not recommend for vegans as the green vegetable / appetizer dishes are limited. Cocktails are fun and hit the mark with a tropical theme. Reservations are tough so book early - we walked in on Saturday at 5pm and luckily were seated by about 5:45.

Yelp
Best crab cake of my life. Cannot wait to go back. Staff was great and drinks were cold and delicious

Yelp
We wanted some amazing seafood in Baltimore and we chose well! We made reservations to ensure we had a table; it was a smart decision. Once they open people come in droves and every table is taken. We were seated upstairs next to a window. The building is beautiful, first built in 1874. Our view was the harbor, it made for an amazing experience. We were greeted immediately and offered drinks. We were then given a monstrous list of oysters, clams and seafood as well as the menu. We had trouble deciding where to start so we opted for the Grandiose Seafood Tower. I can confirm it is indeed grandiose! I've never had fresher oysters and clams! They provide a huge selection of sauces and condiments to eat the seafood with. For our main course we had the Lobster roll and the Crab cake. The Crab Cake was served in a cast-iron skillet with zucchini. It also comes with a jar of potato salad. The Crab cake was massive and delicious. It was more crab than cake! I've regularly visited Maine and the Lobster roll here gives Maine a run for its money. A toasted split top bun, overflowing with huge chunks of lobster. It's accompanied with a delicious cucumber salad. Everything was great, but we were tempted by desert. We ordered a Strawberry Cobbler and also a Rhubarb Creme Brulee. The Cobbler came straight out of the over. Grandmothers don't bake anything this well! It was delicious, light and creamy the whole way through. The Creme Brulee might have made me warm up to Rhubarb! I've never been a fan, but it works here! This place is amazing, it's in a beautiful area and the seafood is as fresh as it gets!

Yelp
Eponymous place on Thames Street, where the oysters are fresh, briny and choose your preferred origin and flavor. It made it easy to walk up or down the coast. Surprisingly I really like the Rhode Island Beaver Tails and PEI Pink Moon the most. The Escargot was good but not the richer garlic butter flavor that I'm used to from France. Extracted with a wood skewer and again surprisingly after a lemon squeeze (perhaps sacrilegious in France) it actually tasted better than au naturel. Cold lobster tail was a bit underwhelming but I ran out of a space for a Lobstah roll with all its accoutrements, so I must return to check it out next time. I heard reservations are suggested since the kitchen (small) matches the cozy interior, read small bar area and a few high tops, plus the tented exterior that was comfortable with the nice weather. I went fresh and prepared so kitchen time wasn't an issue for me. Service was attentive but the solo diner didn't get as much attention as the plus one or two tables. Sorry but I only snapped one side of the menu. Bon appétit!

Yelp
I had one night in Baltimore for work and ended up here due to the reviews. An absolute gem! Highly recommend for food, ambiance, and experience. Great service, tasty food, awesome experience in downtown Baltimore. A must try if you're in the area.

Yelp
They may not have the most awesome seafood I've ever had, but the combination of food, atmosphere, and friendly service makes for a very enjoyable experience. We started with drinks, and black pepper old fashioned intrigued me. Don't worry about the pepper, it's infused and barely noticeable apart from a pleasant light warmth in the finish. There is a nice variety of other drink options available. Two of us split the seafood tower, which has just about everything except, ironically, crab. My favorite part was the oysters. You get 6 from New England, and 6 local - Rappahannock - which I savored and are now among my favorites. We added their seasoned fries as a side, which come with spicy aioli and a spicy homemade ketchup. Beware, while delicious, they are extremely salty. There are about a half dozen dessert items, plus occasionally some extras. We opted for flavors of their homemade ice cream, available in 2 sized dishes. It was impossible for me to not go with the bananas foster ice cream, which was very creamy with small chunks of fresh banana. We got great service, with a very friendly waitress and an overall attentive staff. I'd say reservations are strongly encouraged, because on a busy Friday evening, it was impossible to get any in-between 6 and 9 pm.

Yelp
Pro: generous portions, fresh oysters, good service. Grow: more sauce for crab cake. Back in Baltimore today and was craving crab cake. Thames street oyster house is located in the trendy area of Fells Point. We came in 15 minutes after opening and there was already a 1 hour wait. I definitely recommend making a reservation. They have both indoor and outdoor seating. The service is impeccable as they were always so attentive with our food, drinks, and ensuring we have clean silverware. Food: this has been one of the best restaurants I have been to in a while. Let's start with the lobster roll, they are juicy, the bread is slightly toasted and buttery, and the butter sauce is sent from heaven. The fries were not our favorite and I would recommend trying a different side. The crab cake was huge and about 70% crab. It is one of the best crab cakes I have had and the sauce is delicious but they just add a drop! Definitely ask for sauce on the side. The seafood Cobb salad was so refreshing, it has corn, buttermilk dressing, eggs, tomatoes, cucumbers, and lobster. This was the perfect appetizer on a warm and humid day. They have an excellent variety of oysters from the east coast. Mix and match some from different regions! Overall, this restaurant is worth the wait. The food and service were top tier and I want to go back tomorrow!

Yelp
Spot #2 on my quest for the "best crab cakes" during my short trip to BMore for a conference. I've been to Fells Point before during a previous conference but only during the day. If attempting a reservation, they don't take them for parties more than 5 and we had a party of 6 so we had to split tables. Half our party was outside, the other inside upstairs. Not sure if the service was slow due to the culture, I'm from LA and I think we can be a bit impatient. But unlike LA the server had no issue giving us separate checks. We have to submit for reimbursements. I ordered lobster stew, shrimp cocktail, and the crab cake. All were very good!!! The lobster stew is not thick like a traditional stew and thinner than a soup. It was very tasty. Initially, I was shocked there was no shrimp cocktail on the menu; but was on the raw seafood menu. This was my first experience ordering the # of shrimp for my cocktail. I could've easily gone overboard! Lol the horseradish is on the side, I mixed it all in to the cocktail sauce and it still wasn't that spicy. I was pleasantly satisfied with the crab cake in the mini cast iron! Yes!!! The #2 spot was a hit! Downside, again service was slow. We didn't even get offered dessert. My colleagues outside got dessert!

Yelp
Sharing my POV as someone who was visiting Baltimore and came here. This place is phenomenal and worth the price. I'd definitely suggest it for anyone in the area. Out of towners, expect to get great east coast seafood! I took my friend here for lunch and we shared the lobster roll and the crab cake. We also tried the oyster shooters, which was definitely an experience. The food was delicious. All the seafood was cooked to perfection and the portion sizes are rather large and very shareable. Our servers were kind and prompt. The restaurant itself is also rather spacious - there's 2 floors and an outdoor seating area. That said, this place is quite busy, so I'd suggest making a res!

Yelp
5 stars for the drinks alone. The drinks paired so well with oysters suggested by the wait staff. I wish the French fries were better but that's about it. We enjoyed every bit of our food and experience!

Yelp
One of the best restaurants in the area with amazing views near the water. Make sure to make a reservation. Ordered oysters, a fish dish and calamari. Everything was fantastic! The fish dish was absolutely amazing. I loved it!! Everything was seasoned extremely well. Will be back again without a doubt.

Yelp
What a great place for shellfish and shelter. I need 85 characters so I'm just gonna take this minute to see if anyone has played raid shadow legends.

Yelp
Walked in on a Saturday evening and the restaurant was bustling. The wait for a table was more than an hour long but I was by myself and was lucky to get a seat at the bar with less than 10 mins wait. The bartenders were amazing! They are super helpful in getting everyone seated and answering questions about the menu. It was such a pleasure watching them work. I was feeling something light so got a drink and a seafood salad. The Thames Street Jungle Bird was delicious, fruity and refreshing for a hot summer night. Portions were generous - the seafood salad ($14) came with a lot of crab meat, shrimp, and a few scallops. The dressing was light and allowed you to fully taste and enjoy the fresh seafood. The couple sitting next to me got lobster rolls and crab cake and they looked fantastic. Drinks and food arrived very fast after ordering. Despite being really busy, everything felt in place and the service was very attentive. Highly recommend this place!

Yelp
Incredible lobster roll and delicious raw oysters. Bustling setting on an early Monday night. Sides (asparagus, tender carrots w/ricotta, sweet potatoes) were all perfectly/expertly prepared. Crab cake did not disappoint, though my dining companion and I both rated the crab cake even higher. We sat at the bar and received excellent service. Don't skip on Thames Street Oyster House!

Yelp
I ate at Thames Street Oyster House last year while attending at conference in Baltimore. The seafood was super fresh. I tried Monkfish for the first time and really liked it. I would definitely return if I'm back in the area. I recommend a reservation.

Yelp
I'm so glad I made reservations because this place is popular! Such a cute joint with great food and amazing service!! First off, our waitress Teresa was amazing. Such a great, fun personality! She was appropriately attentive and her recommendations are spot on. Hope you are lucky enough to sit in her section - or, you know, just ask for her!! I started off with the black pepper old fashioned. So tasty! Only critique is that it had small ice cubes instead of one large one, but it really didn't seem to affect the flavor. The oysters were divine. You order of a half sheet that shows the available varieties. We ordered 3 different types. I have no idea which ones we ordered but they all had such a pure, clean taste. Wish we had ordered more! The grilled local carrot appetizer was ordered by my sister and recommended by Teresa. They were divine, and I was so skeptical of just carrots? Definitely get it. My New England lobster roll was great. Perfectly cooked, large chunks of lobster. *drool*. The bun was perfectly toasted and flavored on point. The fries were so fresh and yummy too!! I generally don't care for scallops, but the Block Island Scallops were so tender and tasty. I would definitely recommend and the mushroom marsala was tdf. tl;Dr: Definitely go here, it's amazing, and ask for Teresa!

Yelp
My first time in Baltimore will forever be remembered by coming here. The service was lovely, everyone has a friendly face and demeanor and also very attentive. I love how many of the staff were constantly checking on me which is not always common when dining alone. I arrived for a solo date for lunch, the ambience feels casual for lunch time but I can see this being an easily intimate date night spot. I ordered the New English Lobster roll and I gotta say-- this is the best lobster roll I've had ever. I love the attention to detail plating with extra butter, the lobster roll's bread is so soft almost replicating the texture of the shellfish but with a slight crunch. The lobster itself is simply indescribable, it could melt in your mouth. I love how they make their own ketchup to pair with the fries, if they sold this ketchup I'd buy a couple bottles. As well as their touch of serving cucumber infused water--- very refreshing, I'll be stealing this technique. Thank you!

Yelp
Cool historic spot on the water front, great for Cold Seafood Towers specializing in its namesake, Oysters! Great bar scene!

Yelp
This is a super busy restaurant, but we were lucky and they seated us in just a few minutes outside. The service was a little slow, but I think it was because they were closing. The food was very good! The lobster roll was a 10/10. We also had the crab cake and calamari - both were great! Two things I would skip 1. The clams - they were definitely not what I expected and you couldn't taste clam at all..it was basically breading with peppers and 2. The crab soup - while it was good, it didn't have any crab in it...it was pretty much a vegetable soup. Overall experience was great - very cute restaurant and a nice location. The outdoor seating is spacious and covered.
