We had an excellent experience at The 3rd Corner in Ocean Beach. The service was warm and attentive. The food was outstanding, fresh, flavorful and beautifully prepared. I enjoyed browsing through the great selection of wine displayed throughout the dining area. I also appreciated that they serve filtered and high quality water. We started with the Caesar salad, which was crisp and refreshing with a creamy dressing, generous shavings of parmesan, and topped with anchovies that added a perfect briny kick The shrimp pasta was perfectly cooked, with generous portions of shrimp, savory herbs, and just the right amount of cheese on top. The short ribs were incredibly tender and rich, served over creamy mashed potatoes with a delicious gravy, paired with fresh sautéed vegetables. The baguette was also baked fresh and had a perfect crust. Everything we tried was spot-on. Highly recommend this place for a great meal and top-notch service!

This is a great place very cool and casual. Excellent excellent snacks and bites. Food drinks everything the hospitality was exceptional as well. I have to think Lee and her sister for that a must stop by place for a flight or a drink or a bite anytime even on your way to the airport.

Google
Overall, an excellent experience here. The food was delicious. The service was quite nice a little room for improvement, but we were there on a busy night and we’re taking care of well all things considered. The atmosphere could definitely use a little upgrade. There was quite a strange sofa in the middle of the two dining room rooms, where families were feeding their children’s in front of iPads. Not a big fan of this makes it really impacts the potential of a classier dining experience.

Google
Lovely little spot for brunch, fine wines and a delightful experience indoor or outdoor seating. I’ve been coming here for years with my family and it’s a favorite anytime I’m in San Diego. My mom and I went recently and enjoyed Bloody Mary, sangria, salads, soup- and our favorite: the Brie baked in puff pastry. The new outdoor seating is just lovely

Went twice in a week! My husband had the short rib again because he enjoyed it so much the first time. Honestly great food. Highly recommended.

Google
Went for a late dinner, no reservation, group of six, waited about 15 minutes for a table. Had a drink at the bar while waiting. Service was fantastic. Food was very good, a couple asked for boxes. Had dessert also. Visiting San Diego but would visit again if when we are in San Diego again.

We had a wonderful evening, celebrating my father-in-law's 87th birthday. The Seefood Rossoto was amazing & the scallots are always perfectly cooked. Our server, Michael, was friendly & knowledgeable about the menu items. I highly recommend for a special occasion or casual dinner.

Google
Amazing. Definitely in our top 10 in our experience of restaurants in the US. The duck comfit was superb, never had better, and the wine choice was international. Competes with any restaurant in Europe that we have visited. It's a must try.

Yelp
Good good, staff attentive, nice selection of wine. Clean, parking at the ball field is easy.

Yelp
The 3rd Corner Hits It Out of the Park Yet Again! While my roommate and I were disappointed that The 3rd Corner no longer offers their legendary late-night happy hour menu, that's about the only critique I can muster for this Ocean Beach gem. Our weekly roomie dinner at this delightful spot was, as always, an absolute hit! On our latest visit, I indulged in the rich and flavorful mushroom pasta, while my roommate savored the creamy mushroom risotto with asparagus. We also split one of our favorite starters, the crisp and refreshing Caesar salad. However, we couldn't help but lament not ordering our usual Baked Brie in a puff pastry - a cheesy, garlicky masterpiece that I absolutely dream about between visits. The 3rd Corner has such a knack for crafting elevated yet comforting dishes that keep us coming back week after week. And even when we're in an intense mushroom mood like this time, their menu never disappoints. Beyond the incredible food, the experience is always enhanced by the welcoming and knowledgeable staff. We love sitting at the bar, ordering a few glasses of wine (or even bottles to go!), and chatting with the friendly servers who clearly share our passion for a great wine selection. But perhaps the best part of all is The 3rd Corner's prime location, allowing us to easily walk from our apartment and support this fantastic local business. Between the top-notch food and drink, warm hospitality, and unbeatable convenience, The 3rd Corner is pretty much the perfect neighborhood spot. If you're in Ocean Beach, do yourself a favor and grab a meal at The 3rd Corner. It's an absolute 5-star dining destination that we're incredibly lucky to have just steps from our door!

Yelp
I came here specifically because I saw short rib on the menu (my favorite) and it did not disappoint! Tasty dish over a bed of mashed potatoes and freshly roasted brussel sprouts. Nice portion size and with the 3rd corner fries and the baguette as an appetizer, I was stuffed! My friends split a bunch of apps, ceasar salad, baked Brie, Humboldt fog cheese, and the short rib sliders... everyone loved their food! A really fun part of this concept is either picking a glass of wine from their set menu or getting the explore through the hundreds of bottles that they have, pay a $7 corkage fee, and enjoy the bottle at your table. Great wine selection with a ton we had never heard of. Service was great and friendly from the hostess to the bidder to our waiter. Really positive dining experience!

Yelp
Dog friendly on patio. We came to OB to visit for bday week. Toddler and frenchie in tow. Love the staff. So friendly and accommodating. Everything we ordered was super flavorful and well prepared. I personally love all mushroom and seafood and as soon as I saw the menu, had to come. The patio was bright with pretty lights and cozy heater. Everyone enjoyed the meal and I would definitely come back next time. Bringing kids to nice places can be tough but they were really nice and brought bread when the pasta was taking a long time. We appreciate it as parents who don't get to go out for date night alone anymore. Anything to keep the tiny terror from melting down.

Yelp
A wine store with a restaurant. Cool idea and definitely a local spot! Great food and good wine. The wine selection is huge and though the cottage fee for drinking the wine in the restaurant is a bit pricy, we really enjoyed our meal there. Great service and ambience for a nice romantic dinner or just dinner on the town.

Yelp
One of my favorite spots in OB for a nice dinner. My roommate and I live a few blocks down and love to come here about once a month with a friend to pick out a bottle and catch up and have a fun and delicious meal. I love that there are so many options for seating, whether it's outside under the string lights and heaters, or inside at the bar or tables, or even on the couches by the wine racks. This is also the perfect place for a date if you love wine. It's so fun to look around for a bottle or two to go with your meal. The staff here is super duper friendly and accommodating. They are always able to help with whatever we have needed and always fun to chat with (shoutout to Lars!!). The food here makes this experience even better. Everything I have ever had on this menu is always super flavorful and filling. Love love love the pasta dishes and soups as well as the mussels and truffle fries. Also, the bread pudding is just wonderful if you have room for dessert!

Yelp
I celebrated my friend's birthday here and had a wonderful time. I love how they set up their wine selection, you get to walk around and browse their wines pick a bottle and bring it back to your table. All you pay for is the cost of the bottle, which is like your normal grocery store price, and pay a corkage fee. The food was also delicious and will be coming back soon!

Yelp
Absolutely a wonderful place to dine. Every time the food is consistently amazing. Today, we dropped in for a quick bite. I had steak and hubby, salmon. Food was delicious. Service was at the bar. It is the first time we eat at the bar and it was very pleasant. The inside of this place is very charming. It has different ambiance which makes it more lovely. If you are in the area, make an effort to come by, you won't be disappointed. Yum! Oh yeah, happy new year!!!

Yelp
On my recent re-visit, the reception at the Third Corner had improved. Specifically, the aggressive and unpleasant "hostess" from my last visit was no where to be found. I was seated at a corner table by the window overlooking West Point Loma Boulevard and perused the menu. There are two dining rooms at The Third Corner: The "White Room", where the white wines and sparkling wines/Champagnes are stored; and the "Red Room", where the red wines are stored and where the bar is located. I like the bar itself, but the handfull of tables in the Red Room strewn along a banquette lack charm and the feeling is that of "Siberia". Accordingly, I would be sure to request to be seated in the "White Room". Although several waitresses passed my table numerous times (often calling out "corner" to warn other servers of their presence), no one approached my table for 15 minutes, despite the quiet room and the early hour [5:30 pm]. There were no apologizes or explanations when the waitress finally attended to the table. The specials of the evening were a good Roasted Red Bell Pepper Soup and a Grouper with Red Wine/Butter Soup. I enjoyed them both. I noted the male kitchen waiter would deliver food to the tables by holding out the various dishes in the air saying to no one in particular "Short Ribs?", "Scallops?". He expected the guests to raise their hand as to each "call out", as if the Third Corner was "auctioning off" the food. It would be much more professional if the Waitress who takes the order would identify customers on the order by 1, 2, 3, 4. etc, so that current unprofessional "auction presentation" could be avoided. The after-dinner Irish Coffee was good and properly made. There is a small parking lot along the West Point Loma Boulevard side of the building. If those few spaces are taken, parking can be a nightmare.

Yelp
Amazing seafood risotto. I loved the romantic dim lighting and wine bottle wall. Our server was down to earth and efficient!

Yelp
I stopped by here for dinner. When I came in, no one was there to greet me and I looked around trying to figure out where the host was. A worker finally came to help me after checking out wine for someone and asked if I was looking for someone. The way it was asked was as if it was implied that I didn't belong at this wine bar when in fact I was here to dine with my family. The risotto was bland. I couldn't even finish risotto which has never happened before as I love risotto. The fries were displayed nicely but it was hard to share and grab as it was string fries and very thin. Out of all the dishes we ordered, the pasta was the best one. The plates, napkins, and cups had remaining food stains on them. Gross! They were not washed properly.

Yelp
Food 4/5 Service 3/5 Parking 2/5 I was eager to try this place for awhile - we ordered the shrimp arribiatta, asparagus risotto, and charcuterie plate. The portions were just right for individuals. Service was slow for a weeknight, almost like our server was filling in for someone since they didn't really explain the menu. We had dinner reservations, but waited a good 15 minutes to be seated since no one was up front. The ambiance is intimate and inviting for dinner. I loved that you were able to peruse the wines and pick one for the table, but from the dinner table, it was a bit confusing since the menus did not list any glass or bottle pricing.

Yelp
What a wonderful evening. Sat outside at sunset. Great service from Rob and team. I had a dirty martini, baked Brie, mushroom risotto and goat milk cheesecake. All were spot on.
google avatar

Jill G.

Yelp
Wow. What an amazing and unique spot. A phenomenal and very reasonably priced wine selection. Being able to walk around the store and pick your wine before or while you're sitting is awesome. And the food! Everything is amazing from the bread to the entrees. Eat here.
google avatar

Diane S.

Yelp
Food prep can be spotty! Would not order risotto again or crème brûlée. Female server was so friendly and welcoming while our male server on second dinner visit was rude, dismissive and unfriendly...almost angry! Bistro is charming and clean. Great bartender! Parking can be difficult so allow time.
google avatar

Susan S.

Yelp
My husband and I have been going to 3rd Corner in OB for the last 10 years. It has a great wine selection every time and affordable. The service is friendly and reasonably quick and the food always delicious and hot. If there is a weak spot it is the dessert selection. Everything else is top marks in every way. Ambiance is cozy and comfortable Parking can be bad if you can't get into the lot but we have started eating early so that is not a problem. Love it must try it
google avatar

Yelp
If you haven't been to The 3rd Corner for burger night you are missing out on a chance to have an incredible glass of wine and a melt in your mouth burger for a fabulous price. Service at the bar and in the restaurant is top notch. Ambiance is perfect - you can choose to sit in the cozy bar, the lovely restaurant or outside on the delightful patio.

Yelp
One of our favs- great for good wine and appetizers or a nice meal. Love how you can pick a bottle of wine from their market for your table. The Brie is so good, fries are perfect every time, and the ciopinno is my fav! My husband loves the Mary's chicken and my daughter loves the steak chimichurri. Service is always great! Parking is tough so plan ahead.

Yelp
Great food and excellent wine selection and price. Leave time to search for a nice bottle. We enjoy the Spanish wines.
google avatar

Heavyn K.

Yelp
It was wonderful food, just slower service. I'd come back though. we had the shrimp scampi and salmon dish and it was very tasty! Cool wine options too. Very cool aesthetic
google avatar

Clarissa T.

Yelp
Beautiful gem of OB! The ambiance, the food, the wine, everything from entering to sitting down is amazing! We had our wedding luncheon here out on the patio last year and the manager Thomas was so thoughtful in helping pre fix a menu for our guests and keeping our cake cold until it was ready to serve. The short rib, chicken leg, and salmon are absolutely delicious! Yesterday we decided to stop in again for some wine and a cheese board. The baguette was fresh out of the oven and the cheese selection with fruit was perfect with our wine. Don't miss out on this place!
google avatar

Susan C.

Yelp
This restaurant never disappoints! Great wines and great food along with the service. Best value for sure on the mussels! Also, the Burger special on Wednesday is incredible. Like other reviewers you can order a premium glass of wine and the burger is free :) Love Thomas too! Great wine knowledge and always helpful when making suggestions. BIG shout out to Ed who doesn't nickel and dime his customers with add on charges!

Yelp
Duck confit cassoulet was great - brought me right back to Southwest France. Lovely atmosphere and good service. My group also spicy penne pasta and salmon - all were very good.
google avatar

William C.

Yelp
Spicy sausage penne $26 I like this meal and there was plenty on the plate. Daou pessimist red blend was very good Chocolate chip Bread pudding made with croissants $15 This was OK Plenty for two or three people to enjoy. Chocolate was too muted but overall good pudding. Ceiling lights, a number of people commented on being too harsh. Could use bulbs with lower color temp. Service was good.
google avatar

Alyssa S.

Yelp
Lovely time at the Third Corner. Great patio, friendly service. Good wine, good heaters, what's not to like. The menu is not the most on trend but I enjoyed the cheese plate and wild mushroom pasta and some excellent wine!
google avatar

Jackson U.

Yelp
Nice location in ocean beach, interior surrounded by wine - which they have a great selection of, thoroughly enjoyed my wine recommendations. Food was good! I would call the arrabiatta more of a scampi but I still enjoyed, would definitely go back.
google avatar

Samantha W.

Yelp
Been twice now, was hoping for a better experience the 2nd time. The 1st time my duck confit was shockingly so so dry. Which is not at all what you'd expect from confit...(duck slow cooked in its own fat) - which should produce moist, tender, silky meat. The meat in my dish was not tender nor juicy. It also weirdly did not taste like duck at all - the taste and texture was much like very over cooked chicken. It had me thinking that maybe whoever prepped the confit grabbed the wrong poultry somehow. I love duck, have been eating it since growing up and it's typically my top choice when dining French a la carte. Also the beans served with the duck confit were undercooked which made them a little crunchy which was very unsatisfying. I also didn't enjoy the amount of vinegar in the bean cassoulet sauce. The whole dish seemed very off and unbalanced. It was hard to eat and so I didn't eat much of it. That was a huge disappointment. 1/5 3rd corner burger. Was ordered med well and it arrived med rare. Also, the bun it was served with was too thick, firm and dry. A softer brioche bun would've been nicer. Fries were good. 2/5 Mary's pan roasted chicken. Looked promising upon arrival but it was so over cooked especially the edges of the chicken. The edges of the chicken were very hard making it tough to chew. Overall the rest of the chicken was over cooked and dry. The mashed potatoes were good, the vegetables were slightly over cooked but still good. Chicken 1/5. Mash & veg 4/5 The wild mushroom soup was delicious. Great flavor, nicely seasoned. 4.5/5 The baked Humboldt fog stated brioche bread but being toasted it was basically white sliced sandwich bread and I think it would be nicer served with something other than that. 3/5 The spicy sausage penne was alright but got boring pretty quickly. 3/5 Also, the lime wedges that were served with our sparkling water were incredibly old. As someone who was a server that bartended...I know how long it takes for lime wedges to start looking like that and it's concerning that they'd serve those. Those are the backup lime wedges that have been sitting in the fridge way too long unused and should've been thrown away once seen instead of being served to a paying customer. Originally I had thought that the duck confit the first time was an unlucky experience but now after giving this place another chance...but after getting those limes and having had 3 proteins cooked incorrectly...it seems as though whoever is cooking protein needs to re-learn their temps and/or switch to a different station. Service was very casual and laidback. Also, dress code was very casual as well for anyone wondering. I saw people wearing jeans, t-shirts, casual sweaters.

Yelp
So sad they no longer have late night happy hour! Giant wine selection. Join the wine club for a discount! Bubbly lovers - grab a bottle of Gerard Bertrand sparkling rosé. They have mussels, duck confit, sausage penne (my personal favorite) and a fabulous brunch. If none of the wines grab you, they offer white and red sangria also. The service has always been good and they are open late. Please bring back late night happy hour!

Anna L.

Yelp
Awesome escargot, fish, and pork chop! I love the wine selection, crazy good, and the 6 bottles deal is super.

Darren S.

Yelp
So tasty, great environment, not too pricey. It's also fun to go shop for the wine on the spot so you can pair with your meal!
google avatar

Lexy E.

Yelp
Everything here was so good!! Me and a friend stopped in for lunch and it did not disappoint. We each got a wine flight which was delicious and always changing. I had the goat cheese salad and butternut squash soup, both very lovely. My friend got the shrimp scampi and added linguine, she said it was really garlicky and flavorful. The best part was the amazing wine shop, they have it all! One of the best selections of wine I've seen and for amazing prices. I got 9 bottles of good wine for less than $150! They have the ever popular Whispering Angel also for a great price! You have to come here if you're in OB! Or if you're low on your home wine stock!

Samantha A.

Yelp
Love this place! Great place for a nice glass of wine, always an amazing selection and great prices. The food is top notch as well! Husband's short rib was tender and tasty, the scallops are amazing- my favorite! Only dropped a star because they were salty, which is rare for me to say but I'll just make sure to ask them about it next time. The baked Brie is sooooo tasty and a nice portion where you can still enjoy your meal and the salad accompaniment to it was wonderful. Caesar salad was a bit underdressed and could be served on a larger plate with a few more leaves but hey it was still good! They're always super nice and accommodating and the vibe there on the patio makes you feel like you're sitting in a small Tuscan street with some garden flowers and a rustic environment. I was too full for dessert but my husband and son really enjoyed the chocolate chip bread pudding!

Yelp
What a sweet gem in OB; It was a pleasure to have Dustin as my server; he assisted me in choosing the perfect wine to pair with my two dishes. Both plates were prepared with care, as the presentation was very aesthetically pleasing and it allowed my taste buds to smile. Very clean, crisp and delectable. Tonight I came alone, and the ambiance was perfect to read a book while enjoying my dinner at my own leisure. Thank you Dustin and chefs for allowing my self-love date night to be such a peaceful and enjoyable one. *scampi and goat cheese salad for the win

Yelp
Made a reservation early on a Fri night (4:45 pm). Restaurant was empty. Hostess tried to seat us in the back when all the main room / window tables were open. Had to ask to be seated in the main room and was told they would "see if anything was available". There were no signs on the table that the tables were reserved. After she re-seated us in the main room, only 1 or 2 of the 8 tables ever had anyone seated at them over the course of our dinner (1 hr). Our waiter never checked back on us or asked if we wanted wine refills. Never asked if we wanted bread (which they charge extra for, but our server would just say "it's listed on the menu", to which we asked if there was an extra charge, and he repeated "it's listed on the menu", and we asked again). Very very poor service by the hostess and wait staff. Going to give it 3 stars for service. Food was great, unfortunately. I would not go back for a date night.
google avatar

Rebecca G.

Yelp
We went for lunch on a Tuesday, and there were only a few other patrons in the place. It was peaceful, delicious, and the service was prompt and friendly. Nothing to complain about, and a great meal. I like to rate chairs, as many places have unforgivably uncomfortable seating.... The chairs here were just right. I do think it's a bit pricy, but then maybe I just haven't adjusted to the new normal.
google avatar

Sarah Y.

Yelp
This restaurant is seriously good. Every single dish my husband and I had here was absolutely delicious. We had the meat & cheese plate starter and fries to start and both were amazing. I had the short ribs as my main and my husband had the salmon. Again, both were delicious. For dessert, we ordered the chocolate bread pudding and it is probably one of the best desserts I've had at a restaurant. The service was also really attentive and made sure the chefs were aware and careful of my husbands allergies which made us feel comfortable and looked after. We also enjoyed the atmosphere of 3rd corner and will be back for future date nights.
google avatar

Sonya N.

Yelp
Ambiance, service & presentation were wonderful. Food was just okay, nothing to write home about. Neighborhood is a dive, but that's to be expected in many parts of San Diego.
google avatar

Irina K.

Yelp
We drove by this restaurant many times & finally had a chance to stop by for a light lunch. We ordered Wild mushroom soup, Baked brie in a flaky pastry & short rib sliders. Wild mushroom soup was not my favorite. It was extremely thick & didn't really taste homemade. (aside from some extra mushrooms that were thrown in). My husband's baked brie pastry was cold inside. If it was kept in the oven for just a minute or two longer it would have been much better. It came with a side salad. Short Rib sliders were tasty. My husband had a glass of wine & I had a sangria. Service was non-existent. Nobody checked on us the entire time we were there & it wasn't busy at all. When we were done eating, we just sat for at least 20-30 waiting for someone to show up with our bill. When that didn't happen we went inside & asked to pay at the register. Even though their menu is full of desirable items I don't think we will return.
google avatar

Jessica H.

Yelp
Their food is delicious, and their selection of wines is impeccable! All the staff are friendly and very helpful, even when it's busy. The dining room is a little small, but I have not sat in their outdoor seating so can't attest to that. Their brunch is INCREDIBLE, and fairly priced.

Rachel S.

Yelp
Third corner is still as delicious as I remember. I hadn't been in a few years but took my friend for her birthday. We picked a nice bottle of wine that was reasonably priced to share. We had the hummus plate and both had the scallops. You can't miss these scallops. They are the best I've ever had! I think our waitress was Claire and she rocked it even with all the tables and brought out a nice brownie for my friends bday. I love OB. So glad this is here in town
google avatar

Susan T.

Yelp
Great place. Great wine deals! Pork Schnitzel was great. Had the chicken Pasta last time and it was also good.
google avatar

Samantha H.

Yelp
Very cute spot in OB with an amazing wine selection. The restaurant doubles as a kind of wine cellar, and if you want you can go walk Around she pick out your wine. The food is really good and they have a good menu with a lot of different options. I have been here a few times and always leave happy with my meal and the experience.
google avatar

Rachael R.

Yelp
This place is a hidden gem and I can't believe it took me 5 years to get myself to make a reservation here! My boyfriend and I dined in for Valentine's Day and loved our experience. The service was excellent, the food was decadent and the ambience was lovely. We bought a bottle of wine from the store and paid the $7 corkage fee which was actually a really great deal! We would have spent way more on a bottle of wine had we gone somewhere else. I ordered the stuffed salmon from the price fixe menu and he ordered the filet. Both were phenomenal! As our appetizers we got the shrimp scampi and the ravioli which were both also delicious. The dessert portion of the pre set menu could have been more elaborate but we still enjoyed our small bite of chocolate mouse. Can't wait to come back here and experience more of their food in the future!
google avatar

Yelp
A local gem. Consistently good food dining in or for take out. Good service and nice neighborhood vibe. Love the scallops, veggies and meat dishes.

Yelp
Amazing food and wine selection. Scallops were amazing, ambience beautiful. Thank you for great evenings

Marshall S.

Yelp
I've eaten there many times over the years and have also gotten their Sunday Price Fix take out. I find the food good. I've never gotten sick but I'm concerned about their health score and violations. I'm not sure I'll continue to eat there. I would love it if a representative of the restaurant would answer here what is being done to repair the violations and why I shouldn't worry about eating there.
google avatar

Jon S.

Yelp
We've been here a couple of times, but sadly, we probably won't be back. On the first trip, I had the flat stake, which was excellent. The ambiance is nice and the service was good. On my second trip, I had the duck confit. The duck was a bit dry, and the service was excessively poor. The waiter was only seen a couple of times and was very condensing to my girlfriend's questions. The service completely ruined date night. The hit and miss acceptability of the food and service isn't worth the price of the meal. It's sad, because this could be such a nice place.

Jordan P.

Yelp
Good food great wine. Cool servers who seem pretty knowledgeable about the wine they have on offer. Most of the seating is among the bins of wine for sale, so it's a very specific experience and casual. It's very fun. I'd been to the one in North Country a few times, just found this one by accident and the flights were from a favorite winery!

Gayle N.

Yelp
Excellent food and service, reasonable food prices and excellent wine prices. This is our go to restaurant in OB for when friends and family come to town, or date night. Lovely ambiance and acoustics done correctly so you can hear one another speak. Highly recommend.

My sister in law wanted to relax with some nice wine & great food once we landed in San Diego and I knew just where to take her! I only wish it could have been brunch so I could have my favorite french toast... that is definitely a dish to try! Everyone in our party was impressed with both the food and service, a great start to our trip. Parking is never hard to find, I appreciate that this gem of a place is intimate enough for date night, but is also great for larger group.
