The Alice

Pleasant surprise was having my ale served in a pint jug. The burger was okay, but the onion rings were excellent. Very crispy batter. Can get crowded at lunchtime, with a 20 minute wait for food. But you can order from your table via the QR code.

Great service and great food at this place. A really nicely done and spacious environment as well. Had the Korean beef nachos and and a cherry cola cocktail which were both really tasty. Highly recommend

I had been for a Christmas Party out here recently and found this place to be average. Food was definitely very very average. Top of all they dint even bother to put a name card for what's served. In the name of Veg food fish was served and some of them had a bitter experience. Even on request it was not mentioned. Food that was served also was not very fresh. Even nachos was soggy to eat even at the time it was served. Not sure how long it was prepared and kept. It was too crowded on a Thursday evening. May be looks like during Christmas all bars are like this here. The staff were Ok. Could have been more friendly and acted on feedback when told right there.

What an awesome bar! Very cosy atmosphere and large choice of drinks, we spent quality time after work. I was impressed by the size of this bar, it is really big! There's even a gin area worth checking.

A fine modern bar/pub/kitchen, nestled at the bottom of an office block in houndsditch. A big place with loads of tables, geared towards feeding burgers, pizza and subs. All looks good. A number of keg beers available along with two casks currently on offer, a third is waiting in the wings. Fast polite service with a lovely cold beer the result. Love the bar, all the filing cabinets from upstairs! A good stop for lunch or just a chat over a beer or wine.

Came here with Jacob, was a great meal and good atmosphere. Highly recommended.

Excellent value. Run up to Christmas so was busy. The staff seemed very happy and elevated in their enthusiasm

We stopped by Alice because it was close to the hotel and offered the only food my friend wanted to eat. Definition of a pub, self seating, slightly dirty table, dim lit with good views of the TV throughout. They have a decent draft list and pub food. You order at the bar and then grab a seat where ever you'd like. I ordered a pint of ale and fish & chips. My friend ordered some type bbq I think with some sides. The beer was alright and easy to drink. The fish and chips were bland. I added both salt and pepper to each. The tartar sauce wasn't too bad and it salvaged the meal. There no table service and the bartender didn't seem to know the food menu well. My friend tried to sub in veggies instead of fries but they ended up bringing both to the table...a lot of confusion with the food. I'm not sure of the cocktail they got but it was pretty sweet. Pints after work would be great here but the food and the service is lacking. There are some better tasting options within walking distance.

We had no idea where to get lunch today so my friend and I ended up quite randomly in this pub. The menu was appealing, so was the lunch offer. We paid less than 8 pounds for a sandwich (some burgers were also on the offer) and a soft drink. I got the avocado tomato and mozzarella ciabatta with some fries and a coke. As I was feeling a little crazy today, I asked the waiter at the bar if I could get gherkins in my ciabatta. Apparently it was really complicated to do (even if they offered them in another sandwich) so I unfortunately had to give up the gherkins :-( The plate was looking quite nice but the sandwich was really lacking taste (there I really missed those gherkins :p). Service was nice, the pub is quite lovely and the chairs (not all of them, you have to choose wisely) are soo comfy. I'll go back because the location and atmosphere was great but I'll try to order something else...

Popped into this pub to kill some time before dinner and it wasn't too bad. I liked the decor - very modern but cosy with armchairs and sofas dotted around and the tables were quite big which is good if you're going there in a big group. The football was on but it wasn't too busy as it was still quite early and it wasn't a home game. Also in the loos, in each cubicle, above the toilet is a picture of Alice in Wonderland, fitting in with the name of the pub which I thought was cute. We weren't in there for long and I had a lemonade which is standard so I can't comment on the food or drink really.

A decent pub located near Aldgate. It was a swift stop to get a drink and catch some of the football as we had time before our dinner reservation. The pub was spacious and the furniture was nice also it was quiet but maybe that was due to it being 5pm on a Monday.. Me and my partner both wanted to try the rose lemonade however the menu was out of date and they no longer offered that therefore we had to settle for cloudy lemonade instead. A nice pub but pretty standard for the area, the food menu did look good so maybe that could sway punters to go!

So I didn't know that The Alice existed until a friend organised post work drinks here one Friday night. And I'm glad I now do! It can be difficult to find a pub with a good vibe on a Friday night that you can also find somewhere to sit and get to the bar without waiting half the night - this place fits the bill! Plus 2 for 1 cocktails is always a good thing - and tasty too. Will defo be returning.
