Polished rooftop cocktail bar on the top of the Pod 39 Hotel offering seafood-inspired bites.
"Chef April Bloomfield and Ken Friedman's taqueria has the same laid-back vibe of their other restaurants (The Breslin, Spotted Pig), but in a much more colorful, vibrantly designed and funky environment. The food (like everything else they touch) is wonderful. Unpretentious, with a refined and modern twist on Mexican street food." - Marcelo Cardoso
"The next time you grab a drink with your coworkers in Midtown, don’t just go to that dark sports bar under your office that’s always playing Huey Lewis and the News. Try Freehold Rooftop instead. Technically, this place is in Murray Hill, but it’s a short walk from Grand Central and Bryant Park, and it isn’t as stuffy and overpriced as most other rooftops in the area. The space is almost entirely outdoors, and it’s surrounded by charming brick arches, with a cabana-like bar area in the middle. Grab a frozen marg and a cheese plate, and mingle with some people who are still in their work clothes." - Bryan Kim, Neha Talreja, Kenny Yang, Nikko Duren
"Once a month, your most outgoing coworker will inevitably suggest that everyone in the office grab drinks together in a misguided attempt to build team spirit. If you work in Midtown, the bar options are limitless, and most of them will make you sad. So try Freehold Rooftop. Located at the top of the Pod 39 Hotel, this bar features a mellow outdoor patio surrounded by columns and brick arches. It’s not as uptight as most rooftops in the area, and you can eat some oysters or a lobster roll while you take in the entirety of Murray Hill." - Bryan Kim, Kenny Yang
"Freehold Rooftop is like an after-work daycare for Midtown office types. It isn’t as fancy or pretentious as other rooftop bars in the area, and it’s a very pleasant place to drink with a few coworkers. Located on the top of the Pod 39 Hotel, the space consists of one big patio surrounded by brick arches, with a cabana-like bar in the middle where you can grab a frozen marg or a lobster roll. If you stop by on a weekday, expect to see a bunch of people wearing loafers with no-show socks milling around as they take in a surprisingly majestic view of Murray Hill. " - Bryan Kim
"Alex Stupak’s newer and bigger Midtown outpost will be serving up a $50 per person game day package of achiote hot wings, ancho curly fries, guacamole, chips and salsa, plus a wine and beer open bar for 90 minutes. House margaritas will also be $9. The East Village St. Marks Place location will also show the game. The regular menu will be available, plus two new taco specials: pork tongue pibil tacos with pickled red onions and pumpkin seed flautas with grated jicama, a type of Mexican root." - Alexandra Ilyashov, Eater Staff, Melissa Kravitz Hoeffner
