The 21 Best Restaurants In Honolulu, Oahu 2024

"A bowling alley might not be where you’d expect to find fantastic oxtail soup and some of the crispiest and juiciest fried chicken in Hawai‘i (a state full of excellent examples), but that’s just what you’ll get at Aiea Bowl. Alongside those two essentials, always save room for dessert, especially the lemon crunch cake—we often stop by just for the soft fluffy cake layered with lemon and toffee bits. You don’t have to bowl to eat here, but given that you’re in a bowling alley, this place is great for groups. Plus, then you can order more cake. " - martha cheng

The 16 Best Bakeries in O‘ahu - Eater

"Some of O‘ahu’s best cakes come from inside a bowling alley. The hits at the Alley Restaurant include lemon crunch cake and two styles of chocolate cake: the light Mama Miya’s version with chocolate chiffon and chocolate mousse, and the decadent Chocolate Insanity, six layers of rich cake and frosting. Chef Shane Masutani used to work at Diamond Head Market & Grill, so you’ll find some similar sweets, but Alley provides enough unique offerings to make it worth a separate trip." - Martha Cheng

This place is located inside Aiea Bowl. Restaurant has limited seating, so wait times can be long, but you can also do take out. We came for dinner and got a table right away (lucky). We did family style to try out some of the dishes, we got calamari, the famous oxtail and the tasty chicken. The food was ono... very flavorful and delicious. We also tried the dessert, strawberry crunch cake, cream cheese brownie, and the pumpkin crunch square. I would definitely recommend this place.

Google
The food is yummy at the Alley Restaurant inside Aiea Bowl. My friend took me to this restaurant when we were in Hawaii. We were lucky to show up a little early before the long line in front of the front door. The service is fast, and the food is delicious. No wonder so many people line up in front of the bowling alley—not for bowling, but for the food.

Google
I would have given the alley 5 stars but the service is just a little slow but they only had one server for the whole place it felt like… he was very friendly but still only one guy?! The food was amazing and the prices so worth it. They keep talking about the chicken and it’s definitely worth getting, and the oxtail love it, better than Zippys could ever do. Atmosphere… well it’s a bowling alley, so of course it loud and my kid will want to run around screaming but I enjoy it. All in all good food, great prices, and will definitely come back again.

Got to Aiea Bowl at opening (10 AM) ☺️ We had to warm up with Alley's infamous oxtail stew; and, coffee, tea, tasty chicken, and garlic fries 😋🫣😉 Ibanez T made our experience exceptional just being consistent, considerate, and attentive. Simply friendly and wonderful service.

Google
We come Here regularly for the oxtails soup and tasty chicken. They are our favorite dishes. We also tried hamburger and pizza but I would only give those dishes like 3 stars. The most recent visit the tomatoes and other add ons are additional charges! Yeah we will keep getting the oxtail soup and tasty chicken, despite the rising price and the portion getting a little smaller, it’s still worth it.

Google
The food and service were outstanding on two different occasions. They are part of a bowling alley so the atmosphere could be off, depending on what you are trying to do at this restaurant. Kitchen area and restroom could be cleaner. They were busy both times we came, once for lunch and once for dinner. The OX Tail soup was very rich! We had that, tasty chicken and the shrimp both times. I rated the entrees in that exact order. Will definitely return.

Most people wouldn’t think about getting a nice table service dinner out at a bowling alley. Tonight we joined a local friend at The Alley Restaurant Bar & Grill at Aiea Bowling Alley. We ordered Tasty Chicken with brown rice and macaroni salad $16.95 which is deep fried battered boneless chicken dipped in a tasty alley sauce. We also ordered Teriyaki Salmon with brown rice and macaroni salad $18.95. Both of these dishes were very flavorful and very filling. We shared desserts of Lemon Crunch Cake ($5.75) and also a ever so light piece of cheesecake with a blueberry sauce on top. Both desserts were excellent and all desserts are made in house. They have a dessert case with many different options, all of which looked like items we would like to try. The wait time to be seated was about a half hour or more as reg restaurant appears to have just 6 booths that seat 4-6 people. Our server was nice, friendly and helpful. The only negative at all is that the parking lot is much to small for this restaurant to share with the bowling alley and a couple of other businesses next door. We parked at the shopping center at the bottom of the hill. We definitely recommend this restaurant and will happily return to try other foods, desserts and drinks.

Yelp
Always a good time whenever I come to the alley. The only thing it's usually busy and you do have to wait a little, also if you have a party everyone needs to be there before you sit. The food is really good and cheap for how much you get. Service is fast and friendly. The ambience is of course loud because you're at a bowling alley, but it's not a problem to me... I'm here for the food! 5/5 will always come back for more!

Yelp
I love coming here when I'm craving crispy fried chicken and fries. I always get their tasty chicken and replace the rice portion with French fries. Their fried chicken is so consistently delicious every single time but I do wish they could add a little more of their special sauce to the chicken. Their fries are also my favorite cause it's like shoe string fries. Not many places offer fries like that anymore. I have also had their ox tail soup but it's not my favorite out of all the ones I've tried. I prefer to the one at Liliha Bakery better. I have also tried their fried calamari and it's pretty pricey for the amount of you get and the taste is okay - I've had better elsewhere. Depending on when you go, it can get pretty busy and you may need to wait but otherwise - service has always been pretty solid.

Yelp
They too busy to take your phone calls or orders. They just ignore the rings on all phone lines option 1-3. They don't have the time of day cause they just too good for any customers. They just let the phones ring and make you try and try again until you so fed up that you gotta drive down there in person for place your order and wait until they have time to make your order and make you wait until they ready to serve you! Almost as bad as McDonald's on the second floor. I don't care how good you think their food and desserts maybe. And all the support we gave them during the pandemic. We as Patrons don't need to be subjected to this type of customer service. I don't recommend this business practice. All hype no care attitude. Maybe the bowling alley okay but NOT THE RESTAURANT!!!

Yelp
Brought friends from San Jose ca for oxtail soup! A bit disappointed.... No oxtail soup ! Oh well that just made us discover all the other yummy items - boneless kalbi bowl - good size but in a bowl made it difficult to eat but the food was good and we managed to! Breaded pork chops with gravy - really good will order it again! Saimin - very good - enough to feed a growing boy!!! Hamburger w/ raw onions with garlic fries . Garlic fries was really good - hamburger was room temperature when they served it and with the air conditioner going full blast it got really cold fast! - if they weren't so busy I'd ask them to heat it up! None of the food was served hot which is a disappointment as it can make all the difference in its flavor and taste. I know it's a bowling alley but hot food served hot is why many of us eat out! Not sure why this is but I suggest they try to trouble shoot the problem. Of course we had lemon crunch cake for dessert best thing ever! As we were leaving the oxtail soup became available so we got 2 orders to go! The people here are very nice and service good maybe next time we'll have a better experience!

Yelp
Stopped by The Alley the other day to treat my friend for lunch. It was a weekday and the restaurant was not busy. I haven't been here for a while because I did not enjoy the food the last time ( was at least 10 years ago). The menu was pretty extensive and it took us a little while to decide but I opted for the mini hamburger steak and my friend ordered the fish and chips ( fresh marlin). The prices were good enough that I will return. My hamburger steak was good and I enjoyed the spaghetti Mac salad. My friend enjoyed his fish and chips and the portion was generous enough that he had some to take home. He raved about the crispy shoestring French fries.

Yelp
Bowling alley and restaurant [Aiea HI] We met my niece for dinner here inside Aiea Bowl. Apparently the restaurant is pretty popular among locals so she suggested this place. We met her at 6:30p, party of 5. Reservation is recommended and your party has to be complete before being seated. We placed our orders for the following: Loco Moco Portabella Mushroom Burger Deep Fried Pork Chops Tasty Chicken (award Winning) Catch Of The Day alley Style Mega Crunch Fries Lemon Crunch I had the mushroom burger and I didn't enjoy it too much. It didn't have a lot of flavor for my taste buds even with the side of mayo. On the other hand, the garlic fries that came with it was bomb. Everyone seemed to have enjoyed their meals. I had a piece of their award winning Tasty Chicken and it was delicious! For dessert we had a slice of the Lemon Crunch and it was one of the best tasting cakes I've had... a yellow chiffon cake with a combination of tangy lemon flavors and crunchy almond toffee and chocolate cookie crumbles. The Alley is inside Aiea Bowl, a popular family-friendly bowling alley and restaurant located in Aiea. Ambiance is loud and noisy and at 6:30p super busy. There is parking in the same level but good luck in finding one. We had to park a level down and use the outdoor stairs to get to the bowling alley. Our server was great!! Yelp
Super uber popular resto, so go early to find parking. They don't take reservations, so make sure your entire party is present to sit down. Of course, The Alley is known for their tasty chicken and oxtail soup. It's noisy due to the bowlers but it's entertaining at the same time. Enjoy!

Yelp
Found inside of a bowling alley. Delicious food for a great price! On a Saturday afternoon waited about 10 minutes for a table. The tables are next to the bowling lanes so your view is people bowling. It's loud. Not a cake person but WOW to the strawberry crunch cake! It was like a pound cake with a nice crunch. Not too sweet absolutely perfect.

Yelp
Sadly hub's uncle passed a week ago. i made a sympathy card for aunty and decided to take her some food. It was 3 pm... hmmm where to get something yummy for her? We were at Aiea Medical... light bulb! The Alley has good Tasty Chicken, boneless kalbi and dessert. I drove across the street to Aiea Bowl. Walked in to place the order and chose a pumpkin snd lemon crunch also. With tip it was just under $40. Had time to go to their restroom and amazingly saw there were quite a few customers dining in at that time by the alleys and near the cashier. The sound of bowling balls making contact with the pins actually sounded comforting today. The wait wasnt too long. I'm glad we called Aunty prior. We had a nice visit with her.

Yelp
It was a Wednesday afternoon. 1st food stopped once we arrived, after our flight from Cali. They said the wait was gonna be 25 minutes for 6 of us. Took way longer than 30 minutes & we even had to take it upon ourselves to check back to make sure they didn't miss us. Service was good. Food was alright. (We usually hit up Rainbow Drive In upon arrival; made a change this time). Their oxtail soup has peanuts. Parking was tough, construction was going on. Place is located way at the top level, inside the bowling alley. Only because we had people that have been there before to let us know but as 1st-ers we couldn't find exactly where to go.

Yelp
Angel our server was great!!! She was courteous and efficient with aloha! I praise her for being so awesome, my order was perfect! I requested for the fries to be a certain way (Extra extra extra crispy) with garlic on the side. Most of the time they get it right, but she made sure it was perfect. Which they were. Dine in and take out, the whole experience was great!!! Even the busboy Josh was great!!! Super young, but very hard worker and very polite and also efficient. The place was packed and they were short handed, but everyone worked together. I'll come again soon.

Yelp
Did we go to Hawaii just to eat at a bowling alley? Yes. Yes, we did and we would come back 100%. Atmosphere is so fun just watch other people play their games while you eat! Service was great too. What we ordered: - The Alley Mix Plate (5/5): Got the Tasty Chicken and Kalbi. Chicken was so crispy and flavorful. Kalbi was juicy and so delicious! Served with some of that mac salad and rice. - Calamari (5/5): Was really surprised at how crispy and light the batter was! - Chocolate Insanity (5/5): Seriously, this is a treat. So chocolately and decadent. You definitely share this with the table... or you know just hog it to yourself. We have had the Oxtail soup before and definitely recommend that too. Will always come back for the vibes, food, and fun.

Yelp
The Alley Restaurant at Aiea Bowl is a famous place to eat in Hawaii. I love their oxtail soup the best. They have friendly, fast service and a clean and comfortable dining area in the bowling alley. But try to come early, or you'll be waiting in front of the bowling alley for the next available table.

Yelp
I'm giving this restaurant 2 stars solely for our waitresses personality and the drink pricing here. Pupu pricing is ok but quality is lack luster (everything came out hot but soggy). The host tried to clear our table while we were still eating and waiting for our next order of drinks (I get their 90min seating protocol but don't try and clear our table 60min in). The host asked if we wanted take out containers as there was still lots of food left on our plates? I responded no because I think everything was undercooked and the pork chops smelt and tasted funny (we only ate 2-3 pieces). All the host says was "ok"! Honestly there's too many young kids working here who lack training. Would we return? Yes for sure but only for drinks! Cooks and some of their staff need more training for sure

Yelp
Amazing food and cute girls working the window. Win win! Oh, the loco moco is to die for and carrot cake is next level!

Yelp
I love The Alley. The food is great, and the atmosphere is amazing. My go to order is the Garlic Fries, Oxtail Soup with Noodles inside, Fried Calamari, and an Iced Tea. The broth in the Oxtail Soup is to die for. For dessert, I love their lemon crunch cake. This is my favorite spot to take people to if they are visiting the island and looking for good local places to try. My service was Wendell, and he provided great service and was super attentive.

Yelp
Never thought I'd be asking to go to a bowling alley to have a meal, but now that I've had the meal, can we go back to the bowling alley to go eat . . . Please?! My sister in love (hey Deloney P!) kept mentioning tasty's chicken, tasty's chicken and growing up in the south I've had a lot of chicken so for her to be pressing about going to have some chicken at a bowling alley I kept thinking "if that's what you want, I'll go with you" . . . We have a thing where we share a meal because most things are too much for one person and we are usually headed to another place to try something else as well, so she ordered the tasty's chicken with a salad and white rice along with a lemon crunch cake and chocolate cake. Can I tell you that the salad has this roasted sesame dressing on it that is delicious to the point that I purchased a pint to take home with me (we have almost finished the dressing within 2 days!). The chicken is more like chicken tenders but they are tender and flavorful. The lemon cake is everything you want in a lemon cake. It has a lemon curd and a crunchy topping and is just delicious! Before I leave the island I'm already trying to figure out how to get the dressing back to the mainland and I'll get another slice or two of the cake to take back with me. Seriously - don't sleep on this bowling alley food cause this isn't your usual reheated pizza and wings, this is some good eats!!

Yelp
The Alley is located in Aiea Shopping Center on the upper level. It is separated from the Bowling Alley but if you get seated closer to the lanes, it's fun to have something to watch. Parking is OK, it gets crowded and if it's really really bad you might have to resort to parking downstairs by the McDonalds side. Inside, there's a couple of booths closer to the kitchen/ordering area but there are lots of tables closer to the bathrooms and bowling lanes. Every time we come, we ALWAYS enjoy the food. Everything always comes out fresh and doesn't take too long. This time we ordered: garlic fries, edamame (sauce on the side), loco moco, tasty chicken, and oxtail soup. Our server was Justin and he was great! We asked to have our apps come out first because it bugs us when we get our apps and entrees at the same time. The garlic fries were so fresh and crispy with generous amounts of garlic all over. The edamame was a light appetizer that we enjoy and have the sauce on the side because it does have a little kick! It's in-between a sweet and sour but savory sauce. Kind of like BBQ and sweet and sour. Justin asked us if we were ready for our entrees and we told him in a little bit and they came out shortly after. For the loco moco plate, it's 2 patties, two eggs and two scoops of rice and we ordered it with toss salad. The patties are so juicy and thick and the ratio of egg:Patty:rice is perfect with plenty of gravy all over! We got a mini tasty chicken with salad instead of rice and it was so fresh and not too drenched in sauce (the skin is the best part!). The pieces are large so it looks like a small portion but trust me you'll get full quick. The oxtail soup is a must get! We got it with hapa rice (1/2 white, 1/2 brown) and it comes with a side of ginger and cilantro, and a dipping sauce on the side. The soup itself has lots of oxtail meat, baby bok choy, some shiitake mushrooms and peanuts. You can even pay extra and add saimin noodles to your soup too. Everything that we've tried here is great and can't complain at all. The service is always friendly but our server Justin this time was exceptional - he checked on us frequently and always made sure we were okay which we really appreciated. The Alley is a restaurant that we'll always come back to, and make sure you always save room for the lemon crunch cake! Thank you for yummy food and great service.

Yelp
The Alley in Aiea Bowl offers delicious food and very good service. Everything that we ordered, everyone in our party enjoyed. From the chicken tenders and waffle fries, garlic fries, mixed plate with tasty chicken and teriyaki salmon, Pulehu steak. The steak takes a few more minutes but was worth the wait. The steak was tender and cooked very well. I would order that again if I'm in the mood for some red meat. We also ordered the chocolate insanity cake ala mode, which was warmed up and served with a huge scoop of vanilla ice cream. And a tiramisu which was very good as well, a nice espresso taste. As far as ambience, it is a bowling alley. So if you like bowling, it's awesome. A bit noisy but the food is excellent, we will definitely be back.

Yelp
Stopping at Aiea Bowl every time we're on Oahu has become a tradition. The Alley Restaurant is located inside of the bowling alley. There's also a to-go express window outside but I haven't used it except to order a slice of cake to go. Parking: Parking can be a bit tricky sometimes because the lot is rather small. However if you can't find parking on the upper level, you can try the lower level. Our favorite dishes include the lemon crunch cake, the chocolate cake, and the tasty chicken. Lemon crunch cake: I was not expecting the cake to be so dang good. The lemon crunch cake is not too lemon-y ( I personally don't like lemon flavored desserts at all!) and it's topped with these mouth-watering crunchy caramel pieces that compliment it so well. Tasty chicken: the chicken is fried to perfection, a little bit sweet, and served on a layer of lettuce. The chicken is tender and juicy and leaves you reaching for piece after piece. Overall, I look forward to each time we visit because there are so many other things to try on the menu.

Yelp
Party of 9 on a Wednesday night... 7:30pm and place was packed with diners & bowlers. Short wait to get seated (they don't take same-day reservations). Service was great... Cortez was hustling and took care of us even if it was busy. Drinks flowed, food was served timely and delicious. The Alley Restaurant came thru for us again... accommodating our good size party, serving ono food and offer beer/drinks - all priced fairly. The Alley has truly become our favorite gathering place.

Yelp
It's so weird eating fried chicken with the ambient sounds of pins being smacked to the ground. It was a good time! I ordered the tasty fried chicken and it was yummy! Slightly salty but it's perfect with the rice. My friend got the oxtail soup and the broth was pretty rich, not too salted, and had a nice beef flavor. The portions are also HUGE and we all ended up taking ours to go. The garlic shoestring fries had a strong garlic flavor but I found them to be a bit dry. A unique, unsurprisingly crowded establishment where you can go to bowl, to eat well, or BOTH (recommended)! We went on a Tuesday and bowling was half off :)

Yelp
I haven't been here for years. And when I say "years", the last time I went there was before "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives" made an appearance. Met some friends for lunch while on island. We met at 1130 and there was almost on one in line, but that changed right after we go there. There always seemed to be people waiting and the line kept getting longer. We were seated in the dining room, away from the bowling side. ONly a few tables on this side. I decided on the combination tasty chicken and furikake ahi. Both dishes are favorites at this place. You also have the choice of brown or white rice and macaroni salad or tossed green salad. I went with the brown rice and tossed salad. Since they were busy and it looked like a couple of big take out orders were being worked on, we got our plates in about 15 minutes. This place deserves all raves it gets. The tasty chicken was really crispy and flavorful. The ahi was tender, juicy and the right amount of spices to not take away the flavor of the fish. For dessert, it has to be lemon crunch cake! It is a house specialty something everyone wants more of. I had it many years ago and it still tastes great! Tart lemon mixed with the shreds of caramel on the frosting was a great way to end the lunch. If your too full after lunch for dessert, take one of their many choices of cakes home to eat later. Definitely will be back.

Yelp
It's been such a long time since I've been back to the Alley! I was in the area to visit the swap meet at Aloha Stadium and decided I wanted lunch before heading back east. I had been craving the oxtail soup for the longest time but that day, I wanted something lighter and healthy-ish. Opted for the furikake ahi and garlic shrimp combo with brown rice and salad. Garlic shrimp was deliciously creamy and fresh, with great garlic flavor. The furikake ahi was also very delicious but serving size was too much for me to finish in one sitting. It was a simple meal with good food. Service took a little time but expected since wait staff seemed short handed. The other diners were getting oxtail soup with noodles, which made me determined to make a return trip soon!! It does get a little cold in the bowling alley, so bring a jacket! Prices still on par with other local food joints.

Yelp
First Impression: bowling alley? dated interior, packed Location: This restaurant is located in a bowling alley. There is a lot of parking in the lot by the bowling alley and the in the parking structure below. Experience: We put our name on the list and wait about 10-20 mins. We were seated in the booths closest to the kitchen and register. Service was quick and attentive. I came here for the ox tail soup. I found this location thanks to a youtuber names sean. The food was fresh and tasted good. Note: Don't let the cover deter you from coming here. It is a unique experience

Yelp
I have not been here in over five years and I am not sure how I did not manage to put a review in here over seven years ago during my first visit. This place is incredible, and in my opinion, brings all the business to the bowling alley and makes bowling worthwhile This restaurant has some incredible menu items, fair pricing, good portion sizes and just about anything you could possibly want to eat from fish to meat to veggies. Of course, Mac salad and rice are always on the menu if not with every menu item that you order. The food is absolutely fantastic and the chicken is one of the most popular items to order.

Yelp
Great place for a casual dinner and bowling fun. Ordered takeout on a Friday evening and this place was crowded but service was quick. I had the Furikake Ahi Salad and it was delicious. It was nice that they separated the ahi from the vegetables. They also have the best cakes with my favorites being the carrot cake and chocolate cake. Can't wait to come back!

Yelp
My favorite Hawaiian food spot on Oahu. I ate here everyday. It never disappoints and it's always busy. Pro Tip: call in your order, but if they are really busy they stop answering the phone. Pack your patience because it can take 20 to 30 mins to get your food. Highly recommend the tasty chicken, kalbi, Mac salad (noodle & potatoes) and fried saimin.
google avatar

Yelp
Wait time 10-15 mins Lunch time is the busiest but slows down after 2. The tasty chicken is so good, nice and crunchy and just melts in your mouth. Skin is nice and crunchy. Garlic shrimp is perfect cooked and served with a buttery garlic sauce. Seating area was nice and spacious and cool. The service was attentive and pleasant. Overall one of our go to spots.

Yelp
There were so many people that recommended for me to come down here, and I read so many good reviews at the moment we had a chance and were in the area, we had to stop in! Since they are famous for their oxtail soup, we had to get that.... And it did not disappoint. Service: the main girl who is supposed to be in the front was never to be found. She took our name down and our phone number after about 15 to 20 minutes of waiting to do so and then when I got the text that our table was ready, she accidentally gave our table to another party. Even though it was a weekday and they weren't really busy, I decided to give it a chance even with this mixup. However, the server in the actual establishment is self, was really attentive and friendly. Food: wowwww... the oxtail soup was really comforting and we enjoyed it very much. It was an especially tasty because it was raining outside and cold. We got a separate Loco mock and chicken, which was also delicious. All in all, we will be back. Since it is in a bowling alley, we kind of wanted to bowl actually... Next time we're going to eat and bowl.

Yelp
A must visit each time we're on Oahu! This time around we met up with 4 friends who are locals so it was a party of 6. It was Saturday lunchtime & was quite busy, but always well worth the wait. We waited about 20-30 minutes for a table and as we were seated, our server warmly welcomed us & asked what we would like to drink. Within minutes he returned and took our order. My mom and I shared the Oxtail soup (with noodles) and Tasty Chicken plate. Honestly, it really is theeeee best Oxtail Soup I've had on the island! The chicken was delicious and was more than enough to take home for dinner. We were already stuffed but had to order a slice of Lemon Crunch Cake to complete the meal. I can't wait to go back...

Yelp
This place always hits the spot for their oxtail soup! We came here straight from the airport, just less than 5 miles away and it fulfilled our oxtail soup cravings. There are bakery items also available. The last time we came here was a weekend and it was packed, weekday dine in was much better. **PROs: - Oxtail soup hands down, comes with rice, ginger on the side, and a tart shoyu w/lemon sauce - In a bowling alley - Customer service was great **CONs: It is kind of a hole in the wall "feels" type of restaurant in a bowling alley, but they serve great food!

Yelp
Went in for a nice family dinner (family of 8, including grandparents). The wait was a little bit long, but looking around, I can see why. There were all different types of people of all ages, who were all so happy with the delicious food being brought to their tables. The dining room is spread across the whole bowling alley, so you have music, laughter and games being played all around you! It feels like one big house party with epic food! Our server was so informative and nice! He did his very best to make sure our whole family was taken care of. Highly recommend this local gem!

Yelp
The Alley never disappoints! Doesn't matter if you're ordering full on meals, appetizers, or dessert--they're all good! Favorites are definitely their tasty chicken (which should be renamed to crack chicken because of how addicting and crunchy it is) and any of their desserts. I highly recommend getting their crunch cakes (strawberry or lemon) and their pumpkin crunch. 10/10

Yelp
11/15/24 - Dined in for the first time. Good service/teamwork from start to finish. Although busy, we were checked on throughout the meal and ample bowls, utensils, and napkins provided. Oxtail soup did not disappoint. Tasty with a rich broth. The kalbi and tasty chicken combo too overly sweet for my taste, hence the 4 stars. The deep fried pork chops came well seasoned, hot, and cooked perfectly. Definitely ordering that again next time. The tiramisu was decadent and so yummy. Did not try the other desserts because a member of our party has a life-threatening nut allergy and the lemon and strawberry crunch cakes contain almond toffee. Would be helpful to show the list of ingredients under the dessert picture on the online and in-house menus instead of having to click each dessert item to access the ingredients online. Enjoyed with family, and plan to be back to try other entrees on the menu.

Yelp
I was a bit surprised to find out how cold it got on Valentine's Day. It didn't take me long to sort of figure out where I wanted to go to eat lunch at. So...it landed me at The Alley in Aiea. I've heard a lot about this place, especially how it was featured on Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives with Guy Fieri and Man Finds Food with Adam Richman. I was tempted to figure out what I wanted to eat. Between the Tasty Chicken and the Oxtail Soup, it was hard trying to decide what sounded good to eat right then and there. Since the weather played a large part in the decision, I decided to order their Oxtail Soup. From first glance, I was perhaps intrigued in wondering what the experience was going to be like. I haven't ordered something that was expensive for lunch before, but...decided that this would be that time. I really liked what was presented to me after it came out. They definitely put out a lot of Oxtail on my portion. But for what it was worth in terms of price, I'd say that is worth it. What I liked about their Oxtail Soup...was the depth of flavor built around it. The multitude of flavors really were hitting on all cylinders. And the ponzu sauce? WOW...I could get a small container of that and be happy with it...because it's so addictive, and the flavor jives well with the Oxtail. My takeaway from that experience was how good the food was and how great of an atmosphere it was. I did manage to take some dessert home for the family to enjoy. Maybe next time, I'll try to come and eat their tasty chicken.

Yelp
The food at The Alley never disappoints. The portions are huge and the food is always tasty. The service was quick and it looked like lots of room if you're eating in...although we did take out so we could watch the football game on tv.

Yelp
My cousin and I came here for lunch one day since we were in the area. Was surprised at how reasonably priced the food was. I guess I haven't been in a while, they now seat in the bowling alley. Seating was very comfortable but it was so cold! Don't forget to bring a jacket! Servers and hosts were all very friendly too. Will come back, great service and delicious food!

Yelp
Are you hungry? If you don't mind the noise of bowling balls rolling and hitting pins.. You can order meals or pupus. We went pupu style. As you can tell, we kinda over order because we thought the dishes were small. Boy, where we wrong. Start with their famous fried chicken. Got to have the steak.. Fries are the skinny shoestring. Fried pork chops are well seasoned and you got to have it with the gravy. Soy beans are soy beans unless you order them seasoned Noodles didn't care much for. Pros: Large portions. Food is seasoned well with lots of flavors. Cons: Alot of noise. If the restaurant is full, you are seated behind the bowlers. Would I go back? Yes. Would try ordering a meal instead of pupu style.

Yelp
First time visitor. Went here to chill after a family wedding on the island. Place is similar to Bowlero where there's food, drinks, arcade games and of course bowling. Apparently, the place is known for their Ox Tail soup and Chicken but didn't get the chance to experience it first hand. Although some family that did try it stated the soup was on the saltier side and that the chicken is nothing special nor did it stand out. What I did like (actually love) was that their beer on tap was just $5 regardless of the brew! Haven't experienced that pricing in ages and certainly not the pricing now on the mainland. They do have a policy is that you can't buy more than one cup at a time, if buying for others, they will need to be age verified and given a bracelet. Understandable since there are children around and that they just want to make sure you're not buying for minors. You can also open a tab with the bar. This place gets busy if you're wanting to just eat here or with a large group as I've seen folks by the entrance just waiting for a table/lane. Luckily, my party of 15 was early enough to secure two long tables and two bowling lanes. Overall, a good experience and would come back when I return to the island.

Yelp
Who would have thought people would line up at a bowling alley to eat?? Well, I for one, don't blame them. When we were looking for places to have lunch at near Pearl Harbor, this one was highly rated. Sadly for me, I had a hefty breakfast and couldn't bring myself to eat a whole meal, so... I ordered the lemon crumble cake. My family ordered a few loco mocos, the tasty chicken (which was very aptly named btw!) and edamame. They don't skimp here so if you order a plate, know it's a lot of food as even the bowl is pretty filling. I was snag a bite of everything and it was good! My lemon crumble cake wasn't too bad. I was hoping for a stronger lemon flavor but it was still good. I hope that if I get back here I'll be hungry enough to try their oxtail as a lot of people seem to recommend it. They are located at the top story of the plaza, so if you find yourself on other floors, just go to the top and you'll find them!

Yelp
That tasty chicken is soooo good! I got the combo with chicken & garlic shrimp but I was not feeling the shrimp! They only gave 4 pieces, very little for a combo plate! Wish they gave atleast 6. The oxtail was pretty good, and the burger too! Favorite thing was that chicken though! I was super disappointed that my water cup had nasty oil marks in it like someone else drank from it and they didn't wash it good! Kinda grossed out so I drank from my kids disposable cups instead to be on the safer side. Service was pretty good they are so busy so you eat in the bowling alley. Especially when you come with a big group! I got their cakes and omg so yum. Only reason I knocked a star out would be for that nasty cup Water they served me and the 4 pieces garlic shrimp that wasn't really worth it.

Yelp
Just had a fundraiser at Aiea Bowl and was so impressed with the updates lanes and screens. The staff at the Alley and Aiea Bowl was so helpful and made it easy to plan. The food, esp the tasty chicken and the crunch cakes were a hit. Cosmic bowling is always fun but wap when bowling for a good cause and when enjoying amazing food. Loved the fun neon lights and the fast alley service. Great bar too!

Yelp
I am obsessed with the pumpkin crunch whoever makes them knows what their doing it's soooo good!!! Not too sweet and perfect portion you get a little bit of everything in one bite it's literal perfection for dessert. We tried the tasty chicken no words needed it's in the name, We were super excited to try the oxtail the main reason we dined in because it was recommended by guy Fieri but honestly it's a pass at least we tried it. We've also tried the deep fried pork chops that is delicious with gravy. Customer service is on point & friendly, our server was great to the very end he got everything we ordered correct. The dining space is very open you can watch people bowl or the tv, it's a bowling alley so of course it is a little loud social place but nothing crazy. If you don't like that then stay home just get take out, they even have a mini bar. I can't wait to eat more of their pumpkin crunch & order it for parties.
